I plan on going on my biometrics tomorrow but problem is that I don't have my passport with me. I only have a scanned copy of my data page. Can I take the print out to the VAC tomorrow or do I need to come with my passpport.
Thanks!
Perhaps you can give them a call to inquire or just show up and see how it goes bearing in mind that it can swing either way. I don't know if it's possible. Anyone with more useful information?

Let us know how it goes so others may be guided in future.

FRANK ROBBEN

Am out of the forum till I return from My seminar in DUBAI....................
Safe trip.

Everybody... Please calm down! I beg, No more missiles... Please. If you feel someone has insulted you, please resist the temptation to press a bigger nuclear button (Remember "My Nuclear button is bigger than yours"? ...Prez. Trump to Chairman Kim grin)

As prospective academicians, lets try to debate without direct insults. I guess lots of people here are tensed up and as such need to let out some steam now considering the fact that Fall train is about to leave the station with many intending passengers still left behind. I beg those that made it on board the train to be magnanimous in victory.

John McCain once said that if you live long enough, you will see what you never thought was possible.

Some newbies have questions which need to be attended to so lets move on please.

Thank you.

While I admit with your submission that Nigeria is a shithole country, I will advice you to not for once to think that Canada is an eldorado. I have lived in the United States, and have visited many European countries, i can say that most Nigerians with the kind of mentality that you have end up being not only disappointed in their expectations but utter failures.
The grass looks greener on the other side but truly, I have found myself weeping for my Country on several occasions. Sometimes, I break down and cry while taking a shower. We are so blessed, great weather, natural and human resources, etc yet ... Our leaders seem to know all the solutions until they get there... The followers don't seem to know what they want. Recently, I refused to yield for another driver who wanted to drive against traffic on a one way lane. The security man in charge told me to give way but I refused and lectured him that he should stand up for what is right. A taxi driver waiting in his vehicle later accosted me and suggested I was being stubborn. I found myself telling a taxi driver that we should stand up for what is right so we can leave a better Country for our children having quoted a line from Bobby Kennedy who said his late brother "...Saw wrong and tried to right it". He laughed at my ignorance and fell to the floor before saying "Nigeria, good? Not in our lifetime". I had to ask my wife if I was being optimistically foolish.
Unfortunately, too many times I find myself asking... "Where are the role models?". It's often lonlely trying to stay on the right side here but, we'll keep trying.

Lastly, I have read many migrant stories on Quora. Some really scary. The most recent being the story of an Indian Migrant with years of IT experience who relocated from the US and eventually started considering suicide. He wanted to find a way to jump in front of a TTC (Toronto Transport Company bus).. his only problem was that he wanted the IRCC people to pay rather than one struggling TTC bus driver who he referred to as one of the kindest group of people in Toronto because they understand if your TP fare isn't complete! Anyway, his story ended well as he got a job after several odd jobs just as he was about to commit suicide.

May it be well with us wherever we find ourselves and may we find the strength to overcome challenges come what may.

Besides, we're like finest steel having been through the test of fire. To graduate sef... I endured years of strike!

I believe sometimes the VO's like guidance counselors try to put you on a path you may better appreciate in future. Unless you have a strong reason and personal conviction on your previous program choice, they may be nothing wrong in moving on up.

Good morning house.

I'm new here and I've been following the thread. I appreciate all the gurus in the house providing valuable information.

I submitted my online application on May 31st and did my biometrics on June 4th. There has been no update on my account since then. I have submitted a web form requesting for an update and also sent emails to the Lagos, London and Accra offices but still no response.

My school (TRU) resumes today and I've been asked to defer to Jan 2019 but I'm hoping to get approval within the next week.

My challenge is that I don't know if the school has a deadline for deferment. I will appreciate any advise from the gurus in the house.
Rather than guessing, why not write the international students office for guidance?

You won't be the first prospective student in this situation so they might have put in place laid down procedures to treat such cases.

I want to apply to three universities in Canada for my masters. They are all requesting for academic references. However, I do not really have any lecturer I talk to. I got my BSc in Ghana and I am back to Nigeria. I am planning to create three email addresses to represent three different lecturers and to send different recommendations myself. Please, do you advise I do this?
These things can come back to harm you a million folds! For instance, when you have finished winning Presidential election, such issues will rear their ugly head and you may live in regret and wonder why you made such a mistake in your past.

Welcome to the Digital age where according to former a FBI Directors warning '... "absolute privacy" does not exist ...'.

You are very visible behind that keyboard. I advise you reverse this intended seemingly easy path to nowhere and take the honest and hard route which leads somewhere because "everything matters".

Such will make things more difficult for others in the near future, trust more elusive, and leave us wondering why everything has to be extra hard.

Hello house please does anyone know if there is an available appointment date this year at all in Lagos or Abuja embassy? Please would be expecting your reply.
Are you aware that you can book and then be checking from time to time for an earlier date slot?

I think you can change your appointment date once. You can also write to request expedited appointment upon uploading supporting documents. However, they seem to be more lenient if it is a medical emergency.

http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/graduate_studies/admissions/min_requirements.html

I just did a search and can see 3.0 required in last 2 years of studies per the screenshot (Perhaps 3.0 by their own grading though). Follow the link above to read all the other requirements.

You can send mail to Faculties of Graduate Studies of different Schools. Kindly check the program available and tuition fees if you are concerned about fees before proceeding with the mail. You may also be lucky to get some form of financial relief if you ask.

I'd encourage folks to have their transcripts assessed by WES of Canada or ICAS of Canada for reusability in which case your assessed transcript can be sent to any Institution via fax or mail after receiving instruction from you for a fee of a few dollars. This is much more convenient and cost effective than going back to your school in Naija to request for transcript to be sent to different schools in Canada whenever the school's request.

Please note that there is WES of Canada and WES of USA when registering. In this case, register on WES of Canada.

https://www.wes.org

On the drop down menu in mobile view, select Canada in the first list. The default selection may be USA.

I was about giving up and loosing hope till got access this page.
Good work.
Pls i came out with a second class lower. 3.4
Pls how true is this
The agency i paid said i can't apply for masters, either professional course or college
Now he is saying i have to write IELTS.
Pls are all these true?
Again, howmuch is ielts
Your CGPA is high..... Or did you want to type 2.4? I believe you can get admission. They also look at your last 2 years.

Nothing wrong in writing a few schools to confirm. I believe they will ask you to forward your Academic Transcripts for further processing.

I've not needed IELTS for Canada. Australia needed it. It is required for Ireland Visa after admission.

Please look up the schools requirements yourself on their website. I believe some of them will encourage you to apply even if you do not meet the requirement. Besides meeting all the requirements does not guarantee admission as well. Some schools may offer you a pathway which is also an achievement as you are better of landing on the moon having aimed for the stars.

I am not an authority here but encourage you to make inquiries yourself and along the way like with all learnings you will begin to see how easy it can be. Having graduated from the University, you have been equipped enough to perform such simple tasks. Test the waters yourself if you can before approaching agents if it gets too complicated for you.

Lastly, I think you will find this topic and this forum a useful resource as some of us applied blindly only to put forth a wrong foot which messed things up for us pretty much along the way. Wished I had been aware of this forum before my first application.

Google is also a friend. If you have to approach an agent, it is good to have a discussion with them from an informed angle. They will reduce the level of distortion of facts when they know you are not too ignorant or have the capacity to verify their assertions.

I suspect some agents direct students to schools that might have contracted them perhaps for a fee per head upon receipt of non refundable deposit. It's like encouraging your customers to pick a brand of product which gives the seller higher margin.

Lastly, I am just guessing per the previous paragraph, so quote me not! Open your eyes, pick up your keyboard, sharpen your typing fingers, dip your pen in ink and, believe!

I hope they work over the weekend. Seems Monday is Bank Holiday in Canada and UK.

Have I not read of someone who travelled without it and it was printed in Canada from the system at the Immigration counter? Can someone confirm if my recollection is in order or if it was in my dream? The information will help @realshifu .

Morning bro..that's not the final payment...they will still ask for the rest after securing the admission..but they say if they can't secure an admission..they will refund. I don't have a work experience. Just nysc and the small every day going to my uncle company to assist him..he is not paying me..
Someone here promised to assist you. Let him guide you through the admission process. I believe you will get the admission on your own. I'm not going to dissuade you from using EWC because I won't be happy if someone does that to my Client. Read the thread and decide how you want to proceed. Rest assured, a lot of people here are willing to assist 24hrs of the day as they are in different time zones for free. Hell, someone may even walk to the international office and get you information.

I guess they promised to refund because they are 99% sure of securing admission. If you go through the thread even on this page or one page behind you will notice that folks have secured multiple admission on their own and even have challenges deciding which one to take.

F..kkk...and I just paid the 100k today...I want to go for masters.. but I was told I can't cos I have a 2.2. As Canada schools only accept 2.1 for masters... wat can I do now..
Is that final paymenthuh Or will they ask you for more after securing the admission.

You may consider searching and applying yourself. Do you have any work experience? Many people get masters admission with 2/2. Perhaps the agents tell people this to either channel them to another institution or program which they have been contracted to recruit students in. I will consider such agents lacking in integrity if they are mischievously providing inaccurate information or having inadequate knowledge of the services they offer if it is innocent misrepresentation, which I doubt.

Meanwhile, I have noticed that folks on this thread practice self-censorship and avoid use of certain words like the word in bold above. That has been the culture voluntarily followed here as we speak like Romans, in Rome. I will beg the indulgence of others to take it with a pinch of salt as you are experiencing shock of parting with 100k. It may provide you some solace to note that we have been trying to find out how to recover someones 5k CAD non-refundable tuition deposit since morning after being denied a visa. Among other attributes, Canada will teach you the art of patience and perseverance so strap on your seat belt. If you succeed eventually, you will forget all the hustle and emerge a stronger, wiser and much more exposed individual.

Ohh thanks bro..oh u mean if I can end our arrangement after they have secured admission for me...so I can do the visa application myself right??
Yes, having the liberty to decide if you want to continue with them or not after admission. If you enjoy the service and have the funds and no time, you could chose to continue however, if you are not happy with their services, you should be free to walk away at every stage provided you both satisfy terms of the agreement. This way, service providers will be struggling to give you a good experience in order to retain you at the next level.

I cannot criticize anyone who has engaged an agent because I have done that myself (at the visa stage) and was satisfied with his services even though the outcome was not positive (because I am aware that they is no guarantee). I have processed visas for various countries successfully myself but Canada has been exceptionally challenging for me.

Hello guys..plss I need clarification plsssss..

I graduated in 2016.. went for nysc 2017 and finished nysc 2018.. I had a 2.2 Cgpa 3.25.. studied finance.. and want to do MBA or masters in a related management Field..

so I want to ask.. most Canada schools require 2.1 for masters program...so am planning to put in for a certificate degree course instead... how good is a certificate degree coursehuh?

... hope it won't hinder my Visa success. And are there any better alternativeshuh

Plsss I need answers ooo..and also..who knows about EWC Nigeria well...am using Dem.. paid some Cash to them already to start with the process..
God bless you as u answer me plsss..
Someone just mentioned EWC experience yesterday. If you go back a few pages, you may find the person. Can you exit the arrangement after admissions? Or are you stuck with them all the way? Such details should be clearly communicated and agreed from inception to avoid relationship turning sour later in the process.

If you see other schools you want to consider, you may proceed so all your eggs ain't in one basket.

Btw, these schools come hunting for students in Nigeria. Anyway, guyman must chop. If jyunwa02 register agency and starts collecting money, we can't blame him!
