Approval Alert !
I want to thank everyone in this forum. My wife’s SP and son’s TRV just got approved and PPR sent. She’s 40years! Never too late to study. She had BSC sociology (2002) over 16years study gap. Another Bachelor Degree in Public Health, Almighty UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE! Her first ever TRV. I started to follow this group on her behalf since June, but because of some technicalities( about the forms IMM) we opted for an agent.
I want to encourage everyone still waiting, Your miracle is on the way. This group helped us a lot and I will always look back. Thanks a lot. Timeline to follow anytime soon.
Congrats

Good day all.

First I want to thank everyone that has been contributing to this forum. You all are well appreciated.

I just got my medical call up, after applying a second time for a student visa. I believe we will all get to the finish line with reasons to celebrate.

....

Lastly, I trusted God to have his way no matter the outcome.

I have booked my Medicals. Next will be looking up tickets ( the prices are scary, MUST I BOOK ROUND TRIP ? )

Best regards
Congrats.

One way ticket is fine. Great prices on the 24th of December. Check Nearby airports as I had to book to Winnipeg Airport instead of Brandon as the price is significantly lower. You can then find your way to your final destination by bus or train (ground transportation) if your case is similar to mine.

Winter start?

Good Day,
I am a silent read without a Nairaland account, recently created one today.
After waiting since 23/05/2018, I sent an email to CIC London on Friday, it come to my surprise that my application was update today with a correspondence letter stating PURPOSE OF VISIT ALONE.
My question is that since they knew my application will be refused after 5 months and 7 days why take forever to make such decision.
Its so sad that i missed the September 2018 intake for my plan B program in Ireland.
My colleagues are in school already (Dublin).
Where do I start from again.
I confused if to reapply or consider Ireland.
Its unfair oooo.
Am just sad because they wasted my precious time.
You may get January intake in Ireland. Their VO's are still very compassionate. You may also wish to try before we have a run on Ireland. You need to write an English test for Ireland Study Visa. I got their visa recently as a plan B.

Senatorkolade:
White people don't look at it that way. In African context if an elderly is talking to you and you are making an eye contact with the person, you are rude but to Oyinbos, you are confidence of what you are saying. There is nothing wrong in pointing to the VO the relevant laws that might have been breached. People do make mistakes with appealing to Oyinbos. These white people are different with their thinking o. Appealing to them is like pleading guilty or looking desperate. Don't use vulgar language for them. Just analyse it to them why you think they have erred.

Let me give you a scenario, I work with British and American Consular in the airport here in Lagos. On profiling a guy, the consular had a concern with a passenger and the guy was appealing to the Oyinbo to show a favourable discretion to him in a very polite way as you suggested. Do you know what the white man told me, he said Kolade, offload this man. If he is confident of his story, why asking for leniency?

SO THESE VISA OFFICERS DONT LOOK AT IT THAT WAY O
Thanks for the information. I think it's called culture shock!

Like begging a Police officer which is somehow normal here is an additional offence in some climes since you are trying to prevent him from carrying out his duty. Na judge you suppose plead with if you do wrong, and even judge has to work within his limits.

I suggest if you want to quote laws for them before you enter their Country, you should use a lawyer.

Was the guy you "offloaded" on his way out of the Country?

NOTE: Actually, I have contacted ministry to know the reasons for the delays in the first week of June due to some fact I gather from the forum about applications but they have given a general reply. So, we still don't have an answer as to why they have been skipped.
However, one thing that I have noticed is that many of these applications are sent to SS and some of them are untouched due to the Country of Residence. I will discuss this in detail as it will take time to organise that information.
For the time, I will not try to prove IRCC wrong but if you read their responses you will find contradictions.

I hope this general question and answer help many people waiting for approval from IRCC.

I mail private travel consultant in Ontario, no replied yet
Thanks for your effort. I'm trying hard to maintain but the grammar in the attached letter get as e be. Plural /Singular (e.g. 16 week), punctuation marks, spelling issues (e.g. summit instead of submit), Past and Present tense (it my pleasure...; I send many webform...; Thank for reading from...) etc.

Whenever I get scam mails, I notice same issues. Forgive me but, I just can't hold it any longer. Hope the author is not phishing, spear phishing or outright fishing with a hook for gullible prospective clients.

This may pass for an English test script where candidates are requested to find and correct errors. Please forgive me for making these observations. I apologise profusely. 1, 2 or even 3 errors may be acceptable in a few lines (as i may have made some myself here, because quite often it takes a third party to spot some of your errors as you read the sentences correctly without noticing it yourself) but...

Letters like this may make them decide to add international English test as part of the prerequisites to applying. However, it sounds like a catch 22 in the sense that though it may be a way to raise more money for them, it will reduce the amount made by way of study permit application fees as it may reduce the number of qualifying applicants who will apply. Hmmmm huh

For Ireland Study permit, you have to write an English test.

I've been able to schedule an appointment with Q-life family Clinics for 21st November.
Perhaps you should call IOM Abuja to book appointment and then decide if worth making the trip or waiting till November 21. The earlier you can get out of this cycle, the better before another bottleneck,(eg. Quota) is introduced.

People I need an urgent rescue - I have asked this question before. To those who have submitted their original passport by mail, When submitting your passport to the VAC you did your biometrics did you include any trasmission fee? I have sent my passport through courrier to abuja VAC but didnt include any fee or reciept of money paid to immigration account.
No need IF you are going to pick it up when ready at Abuja VFS, however, you need to pay money if you want it delivered to you after the visa label has been affixed in your passport.

Meanwhile, speaking of statistics, 10% of Part 15 has gone by. This Canada thread Na fire! For every 1 page that is covered in Ireland thread, I think 50 pages are covered in Canada thread! How will the chances of being approved not be low?

Spoke with an Immigration consultant today and she told me the chances of me getting a student visa was low because of my age. Here is my status:
- I am 34years
- Single
- Applying for a 2 year vocational diploma program in web development
- Self sponsored
- I own a web development business and run an ecommerce portal
- I have 2 accounts, active company account with a closing balance of 1.2m(daily inflow and out flow of cash), personal account with a closing
balance of 12m
- Paid a deposit of tuition fees of 4000cad remaining a balance of 18k.

Please I need your opinions on this
Don't let anyone discourage you. Such messages should only fire you up. I am almost 10 years older than you but recently got my study permit at UG level for that matter after having a Masters degree about 15 years ago. Granted, the chances may be low but it's not impossible. Take a chance on yourself. Your activities look impressive. Could you have applied for studies at a higher level? I don't know how deep the vocation diploma is. Don't give up or be discouraged by the Consultants message because the truth IMHO is that her statement applies to every applicant from Naija! (A careful or even careless review of the statistics will reveal that as long as you are a Nigerian, your chance is low!). Despair Not, and live not thinking when aged of what would have been, if only you gave it a shot... Or one more shot!

Next time she tells you your chances are low...
...Please tell her to tell you something you don't know!

@Henricson,

I did my Biometrics in Abuja VAC. If I'm to send my passport there, does it mean I will not include any service charge? What if also I'm to pick up the passport through an appointed representative what happens then.. Please if you can throw just a little more light on the process, because just like everything Canada there processes seem cumbersome.

OR,

Maybe just include the link of the article you cited above so that I can read what's written there.
Remember to send it with a copy of your Biometrics slip and receipt as evidence that you did biometrics there. I forgot that document at home as I thought it was something they could easily verify on their system but had to go back to pick it.

Hi All,

Please, is it only 3 hospitals in lagos that are approved for Canada medicals or are they kidding me? shocked

The first one said the next available date is 27th December while the second said no space for now. The third is not even sure.

What's all these na?
Is medical report not expected to be provided within 30 days of request?

At this rate, it may be advisable for those expecting medical request to start booking appointment in advance.

No slacking in Naija. Perhaps the people on queue till December 27th are mainly those still waiting for medical request, meanwhile, those with medical request like you can't find slots.

I hope it's not a way of creating scarcity inorder to exploit applicants coz if they request for ₦100k to get you appointment tomorrow, I guess you won't think twice before coughing out your hard earned money.

Every step is hard...

I waited for 5 weeks after Medicals Passed before receiving Passport Request, meanwhile my case is not like that of Naijaforeigner so you can imagine what I went through. Waiting for 4 days to do medicals after medical request was like waiting till eternity, so I can imaging what you are going through right now. If you have time, you should be landing the medical facility every morning and closing with them till they have mercy on you. Unfortunately, this is what we have to go through.

Please for the guys who submitted passport at vfs for visa stamp, what was the latest you got it back? Was told 5-10 working days. Just submitted this morning, hoping to get it back latest by Friday next week as my sick leave will end by Friday next week and have to resume work on Sunday, had to fly from ph yesterday.

Guys any answer to this?
@goingforward, @galala123, @naijaforeigner
You should get it before Friday next week (not this week oh). Too late but you could have as well paid courier fees so it is sent to your chosen destination. Anyway, I can understand how your blood will be boiling to collect it asap.

Submitted mine in Abuja on a Thursday and it was back the next Friday (about 8 days later). It would have come back a day before but for the recent aviation workers strike. If you submitted in Lagos, I expect the transit to be faster.

Thanks for this highlight! I will respond to you because I see reasoning and maturity in your scope of argument. I have known this group for a while and while we share opinions and experiences, we do it positively and with loads if respect for one another and our differences.

Yes.. there's no crime in changing careers but let me be precise with you.... you can do that in most countries including UK, USA and Australia.... but most likely you won't get away on that with Canada! (At the point of initial application)
I have based my judgement on trends, experiences and actual happenings... ok.
They waste no time at a refusal & pointing... purpose of study.... people should check contributors' profile at times before they type just anything at anybody.

We should learn to take the best of a situation..... most people go against you simply cos you have given a fact that does not favour them!... life isn't that way.

Thanks again @galala123

@Jnyuwa, Boss I contacted you early August via email on how to go about my submission. But just this morning I received a PPR letter, does that mean that my visa has been approved?

@Everyone, I'm kinda scared, I submitted an online application for visa and here is my time line:

Purpose of visit: Study Permit- PhD in Engineering.
Date Submitted: 4th Sept, I did an upfront Medicals.
Biometrics: 5th Sept
Biometrics done and updated: 6th Sept.
Medicals Passed: 14th Sept.
Passport Request: 11th Oct.

I'm scared because when I go through what many people say here regarding online submission - how much time take it takes, tbh, I was expecting my PPR in December and that's why I want to know the meaning of this PPR.

Lastly, when I checked my profile it's still on background check and they've not updated it. Please I'm kinda confused.
Congratulations!!!
It's not a crime to receive good news in record time so rejoice.

PhD's seem to have a special route.

Oga, Just go ahead and submit the same very thing that you submitted, no alteration.
The problem here is that you used a consultant, I am not sure the complexity of what he did for you, but most times, Just like you said the application was well packaged, it may simply be the VO, Maybe he/she was having a bad day.
I know someone who submitted an application, "Self-done", well packaged , submitted and got a rejection after 3 months long wait, He resubmitted after 3 weeks, same very very application another person rejected, it took 2 weeks. #fact

NB- MAke sure you are being sincere, CIC is going a little further with review of applications this days, Massive Denials everyday.
Are you encouraging or discouraging him? I was looking forward to the success story at the end. Did you mean to say another person Approved it after 2 weeks?
