Frankiss44: It's a shame some fools are trying to defend the indefensible.. That means no ex-gov is corrupt since they don't sign cheques... Akpabio is clean, Sylvia is clean, Ameachi is clean and even Uduaghan is clean.. Fashola is not even smart with the reply, our senators are just dull. So even if you don't sign cheques, does it mean that as the executive governor of a state, you don't oversee the signed cheques and verify the bogus amount of contracts awarded? The number one problem killing us in the country is sentiments based on either religious or tribal stand. I know some people would have devoured someone like Akpabio if he was the one that gave this crazy explanation... Fashola has given both ex-govs , current governors and future governors a bailout to loot the country dry.... Exactly! That's why I don't dig the excuse |

AnamCity: The quest for the best teacher in public secondary schools in Nigeria came to a glorious end at a grand ceremony in Lagos on Monday as a 37-year-old teacher from Anambra State, Rose Nkemdilim Obi, emerged winner of the maiden edition of the Maltina Teacher-of-the-Year. Obi, who is equally a daughter of a teacher, teaches Mathematics and Chemistry at the Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha. The year 2000 graduate of Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka, Anambra State beat nine other finalists to the coveted prize. The 10 finalists, who slugged it out at the final lap, were the winners from Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Borno, Delta, Ebonyi, Imo, Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States. The first runner-up was Binta Mohammed Lawan of Federal Government College, Maiduguri, Borno State. Lawan’s counterpart from Akwa Ibom State, Daniel Sunday Udiong, emerged as the second runner-up. The award instituted by Maltina, the non-alcoholic malt brand from the stable of Nigerian Breweries Plc, is courtesy of Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund. It is aimed at restoring the pride of teachers and the dignity of the teaching profession. For their effort, the national winner got N1 million, which will be paid into her account annually for five years. Obi will also be sent abroad for professional training on the bill of Nigerian Breweries/Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, just as the Federal Government College Onitsha, Obi’s school, has also become an instant beneficiary of a block of six classrooms. The first runner-up got N1 million plus another N500,000 finalists’ prize money, while the second runner-up took N750,000 and another N500,000 for getting to the finals. Speaking after her declaration as winner, Obi, who spoke ex-tempore for more than 10 minutes, dedicated her victory to God and her fellow teachers. She also thanked Nigerian Breweries for the great honour and motivation done to teachers and the teaching profession. She said: “Teaching is a noble profession. “It is a calling and it is a commitment to building the nation. “I thank God today for my life and I thank Nigerian Breweries for restoring the dignity and pride of teachers.” In his welcome remark, the Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries, Nicolaas Vervelde, explained that the company operates with a philosophy of “winning with Nigeria” and has championed causes that add value to the society since its inception in 1946. Vervelde said: “In 1994, we raised the profile of our support of the education sector when we established the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund to enable us to contribute to the development of the sector. “Everywhere in the world, teachers play a vital role in sustainable national development by training, coaching and modelling, which is critical to determining the quality of education.” Vervelde added that the valid entries received were subjected to an intensive selection and judging process by an independent, external panel of judges to ensure transparency, credibility and objectivity. The Panel of Judges, which comprised eminent Nigerian academics and professionals, was chaired by Prof. Pat Utomi, the Founder/CEO of Centre for Values in Leadership. Others included Mopelola O. Omoegun, Professor of Education, University of Lagos; Prof. Thomas I. Ofuya, Vice Chancellor, Wellspring University and Member, Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities; as well as Olusegun Adeniyi, Chairman, Editorial Board, ThisDay Newspapers. Other members are: Dr. Abdulrahman Binta Fatima, National President of the All-Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools; and Prof. Tijjani Abubakar, Dean, Faculty of Education, Ahmadu Bello University. The race for Maltina Teacher-of-The-Year started on May 20, 2015 and generated unprecedented interest from teachers across the country. The initiative, with prizes worth over N50 million annually, is to reward commitment and diligence to duty by exceptional teachers across the country. Kufre Ekanem, Nigerian Breweries Corporate Affairs Adviser, explained that through this initiative the company can inspire this nation to accord our teachers their deserved credit and bring back respect to the teaching profession in Nigeria. Ohiwerei is the first indigenous Chairman of the leading beverage conglomerate, which has been operating in the country since 1946. The Trust Fund was established in 1994, with a seed capital of N100 million, to contribute to the development of educational sector in the country. Over the years, the company has used the fund to assist over 20,000 students, built over 250 classrooms and 22 libraries in both primary and secondary schools across 49 communities in the country. http://theeagleonline.com.ng/anambra-teacher-wins-maltina-teacher-of-the-year/ Good one |

If Abuja-Kaduna road passes your village it does not automatically become rural road. Awkuzu/Igbariam road is a federal road leading to Onitsha, Adani and Nsukka. No sir, Onitsha - Aguleri - Adani - Nsukka road is a Federal road but the one above leads to Igbariam town |

Fulani are raping their women but ibos will online flex muscles with Yorubas. Killed who? You don't know what ur talking about. The only part of Igboland being disturbed by the herdsman is the Anioma axis, and the locals are taking care of their excesses. As for the Igbo hinterland, they respect themselves and leave people and their farms. Though, they rob at times but such incidences are too few and far between. As for the Anambra Kogi debacle, I can assure you it is nothing more than Aguleri vs Echeno/Odeke battle and a little research on google will show you which of the parties is stronger. Never has an Aguleri man gone down in a conflict without the other side losing twice or more of their own. Ask all 17 towns that are Aguleri boundary neighbours (5 in Kogi and 4 in Enugu State) |

Politics › How The President Is Fighting Corruption Thru Appointments by Gamechanger(op): 12:04pm On Aug 30, 2015 |
With the recent appointments made by President Buhari which again is lopsided in favour of the North against the South, we were once more reminded that 1. The appointments are purely based on merit 2. The persons appointed are not corrupt 3. The appointees are those the president can work with
To me, the president in a better position to decide who has the above characteristics. It also means that in his judgment, nobody from the entire South-East is qualified according to those criteria.
Please don't give me the crap about Ministers, ambassadors, board chairmen bla bla bla. ) Every government has the people that drive it, and unless we want to live a lie, Buhari has made it clear who he wants.
Now having decided to work with Merit and discard people with corrupt tendencies, can the President give the emerging state of affairs a stamp of permanence by doing away completely with the Federal Character provisions in our laws.
Eliminate all forms of quota system and federal character in the admission process into unity schools, Federal universities and recruitment/employment into all federal civil service, agencies, parastatals
I believe that once merits is given its rightful place, most Southerners may not really bother with who holds what position in government as far one is assured of getting what he is entitled to in whatever government office by merit.
A situation where we have the cut-off points below from the same Government which proclaims merit is bothersome.

nobilis: Is not about the news source. It is about how credible that news source is.
Why hasn't the news been carried by CNN, BBC, Aljazeera, and other reputable news agencies.
This story is not even on NASA website.
This is a mighty hoax and it is the kind of story that Christians like. On a normal day, they would have flooded this thread shouting about the end of time. I wonder where they are today.
And the worst part is that some people are already believing it without asking questions.
First and foremost, Jupiter and Venus are very far apart. They are about 0.634 billion(0.634 x 109) kilometres apart when they are on the same side of the Sun. Not to talk of when they are on opposite sides of the Sun. Their orbits are not anywhere close to each other.
The orbit of Venus is fairly circular with the Sun at the centre and at the point when it is closest to the Sun,its distance from the Sun is is about 0.107 billion kilometres. Jupiter's orbit is elliptical with the sun at the centre and at the point where it is closest to the Sun, its distance from the Sun is about 0.741 billion kilometres. So at the point where they are both closest to the Sun(which, logically, is the point where they both are closest to each other), they are still 0.634 billion kilometres apart.
And Venus and Jupiter are separated by two other planets: Earth and Mars. So, OP, there is no way Venus can get close enough to Jupiter to cause the reaction you're talking of.
Secondly, the Sun is made up of hydrogen gas (75%). And coming in contact with hydrogen gas from any other source will not have any negative effect on the reaction processes already going on in the Sun.
Thirdly, u said that the Sun, after the reactions will return to being a Red Giant. Meaning that the Sun is already a Red Giant. But that is very false. Our sun is not even a giant. Our sun is a dwarf. A Yellow Dwarf. And before the sun turns into a Red Giant, it will not dim to a bluish colour, like u said. No. The Sun will become hotter and even burn brighter than it is today and the Earth will become very hot (i.e. As hot as Venus is today). Then the Sun will double in size and metamorphose into a Red Giant. And this process takes a very long time. In fact, according to scientific calculations, the Sun will become a red giant about 5.4 billion years from now.
So, OP, stop posting Fake News. Splendid. I bow to your superior knowledge and presentation |
