Yes..
Because you dont generate what is not being consumed.

Else the system will collapse due to over voltage or over frequency
The MD of TCN said here that "the nation currently has stranded load generation of about 2,000MW".

https://guardian.ng/business-services/tcn-secures-2billion-to-expand-capacity-to-20000mw/

What does he mean by that?

Yes and so??
I can give you more details.
The Line is called Sakate 330KV line, on about 202MW from Ikeja West RTC.
So because Nigeria supplies Togo/Benin light, does it mean we have huge Transmission capacity??7
Because we don't have transmission capacity does not mean the generation stated was a lie.

Rick9:
Engineers in the house, I have this question,
How exactly is this MegaWatts generated, and why can't Nigeria generate up to 20,000MW ?
Through dams (hydro), thermal plants (steam) and Gas plants (gas).

To get 20,000MW requires investment, aka money.

Jonathan's era - they saw the money for investing in power as 'yam', a gorilla was in power and he allowed goats to eat yam.

Buhari's era - drop in oil prices meant recession. Goats had also emptied the reserves.

Nigeria is at 12,000MW installed capacity and generates between 4,000MW to 7,000MW.

So to be able to generate 20,000MW, lets say we would need at least 30,000MW installed capacity.

An increase of about 18,000MW from current installed capacity.

The cheapest cost of constructing 1MW comes to around $1m.

That means we would need $1m x 18,000MW investment in power infrastructure.

That is $18bn! Saraki, Ekweremandu, Melaye and co still have to chop money before we can find that. Jonathan don waste the money wey we get before.

Lies

You need massive and highly capital intensive infrastructure development in both Transmission and Distribution network to be able to handle 7000MW.
Transmission capacity as at last quarter hoveered around 5000MW
One thing about Electricity that people dont know is you cant store it.
As you Generate, there must be people downstream to consume
Power generated = Power demanded + losses.

So its a lie that 7000MW was generated, because where is the Transmission and Distrubtion Network to handle it huh
I hope you know Nigeria supplies power to Togo, Benin and Niger?

Nigeria's power generation capacity has been around 6000-7000MW for up to 2-3 years now. The only problem has been they are mostly gas turbines and some 'patriotic' nigerians have been blowing up pipelines that supply them, limiting output. The major problem now is that of transmission, because the old lines cannot absorb up to the 7000MW. That should be govt's focus, because they still control transmission. I'll suggest all state governors help to improve transmission installations in their states. Benue did it under Gov Suswan and today, makurdi and environs enjoy stable power of up to 15 hours+ daily. While I've not had light in owerri for 3 days! angry
Well Nigeria's power generating capacity is now 12,000MW.

The 7,000MW you are seeing is what is actually generated, not generating capacity.

Under the corrupt fool of Otuoke, the maximum generated was in the 4,000s. While generating capacity was around 6000-7000MW.

For your mind you think Igbo's will kill themselves like the northerners. You don't them too well. This is the time for us pray for God mercy on the land because so many innocent blood has been poured, and wasted..... If you are spiritual you will know that God can turn His back on us and you know the implications....... Wahala dey wahala is coming to this country. Sit there and laugh at people that are been killed... Hmmmm
I am not worried at all.

I can guess what would happen next.

- Some of the miscreant IPOB would come out now whining and continue with their chest-beating promising revenge.
- They would engage in one or two attacks.
- Nigerian Army would go in for Round 2 and more IPOB dead bodies (by the grace of God, no ordinary Ibo person go die)
- Then you would have a tribal riot of Igbos killing Hausa/Fulani in the SE and maybe Port-Harcourt
- But that would be a very bad idea, as Almajiri would swing into action in Kano, Kaduna, Minna, Jos, Bauchi, Zaria and many more Northern states, killing many innocent Ibos.
- There would be more killings of Ibos than Hausa/Fulani as Ibos are more scattered and more civil.
- Then sense would kick in as Elders put a stop to it.
- Then people would realise Nnamdi Kanu should be in jail, even though what he deserves is a mental health institution.
- Then everything would go back to semi-normal.

Bare in mind I said "semi-normal". Illiterate Fulanis never forgive or forget. For the next 20 years, the family members of these illiterates that were killed by Ibos would continue taking random revenge by raiding Igbo villages and slaughtering old, young, men, women, child and babies.

The police and authorities would try to stop it, but it is hard for a poorly equipped force to stop low-lives who are nomadic, illiterate, barbaric and have very little to live for in life bar cattle. They would only stop when they feel they have killed enough. That might take 20 years.

The result of IPOB threats, insults and chest-beating. Thank you, Mentally-ill Supreme Leader! undecided

And still, there would be no Biafra!

Believe me most of us laughing now may cry to death when this mob/group retaliate. Remember IPOB is all over the world. Hmmmmm people are not seeing what I an seeing. Unfortunately, when human beings are boisterous and chest-beating, they tend to think they are perfect and others are weak and shiit.

When they decide not to shut up after months of loquaciousness and chest-beating, saying there would be no peace for anybody and they would burn the nation down, in Nigeria there is a simple, unique and cheap way that is dealt with.

We just saw it!

If anyone thinks that there is any Igbo man or woman seeing this photos of the activities of the military in the southeast and still be indifferent, that person is living in fools paradise.

I hope they end this activities immediately otherwise, the military may have much more than ipob members to contend with.

This deployment is a mistake of which consequence we may be yet to really realize.

The military must be withdrawn now before it's too late.

Why would you use ‘orchestrated' and ‘deny liability' if you know that they are not the fault to begin with.

I am sure the organisation can come up with lots of exceptional cases they have experienced. Besides, the banking industry is a sensitive one, the bank manager cannot dish out money because of ‘exceptional cases'. I am very certain that try feel really bad for what happened even though it is not their fault but you shouldn't go about writing as if it was their fault to begin with.

This hasn't ruined the bank for me because I know why.

I knew the bank will come up with a very well orchestrated denial story and wont accept liability in any way, if Diamondbank is a responsible bank that cares about customers, the right thing to do is give mama at least half of the money while they investigate and try to recover the money.
