Smelling

Amazingly, babies jump at the smell of cigarette smoke and by the end of the first trimester, a baby can smell the foods his mother eats. Very amazing!

Babies startle when their mothers sneeze because it leaves them scared. Every other loud noise such as a dog barking can also leave babies jumping to a start.

Interestingly, scientists have discovered that babies do very many shocking things in the womb, as against just sitting and waiting to be born. Here are a few of them:

Sucking Thumb

Oh…oh…babies actually learn to suck right before they are born. Medical scans of pregnant womwn have shown images of babies sucking away while yet in the womb.

PoliticsE-X-P-O-S-E-D! Suspected Killers Of Kwara CP, Chinwike Asadu by ganase2(op): 5:45pm On Jul 10, 2013
You all will recall that the erstwhile Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Chinwike Asadu was gunned down by unknown gunmen on March 2, 2013. He was en-route Enugu State for the annual Police Games when he was shot to dead, just in front of his residence.

Quite laudably, the Nigerian Police have brought the perpetrators of the act to book. The suspects are Collins Ogechukwe Uzor, a.k.a Danwisiki, (28), Ugochukwu Nnaji a.k.a Agbomorocco, (38), Okwuosa Anthony a.k.a Sparrow, (29), Chekwube Enete (25), David Elvis Aja (23), Ugokwe Obiora Johnpaul (22)and Ameobi Nnamchi.

Why did they decide to waste the life of the late CP? Who sent them?
As reported by the Vanguard, the Commissioner of police went to drop one of his guests with his wife’s red Toyota Corrolla in the company of his orderly who sat in the front and an armed police guard posted officially to his house from Abakpa station who sat at the back of the car.

The source continued: “As he was coming back, the hoodlums who were hovering around the area noticed him and followed his car until they got to a fairly solitary place, very close to his residence. They blocked him with one bus and another black Mercedes benz 190 and opened his door in an attempt to either rob, kidnap or take the car.

Suddenly, they discovered that there was a policeman clutching an AK47 at the back of the car. They got scared and pulled the CP who was on the drivers seat out and started spraying the car with bullets. The orderly and the armed policeman instead of replying them, dodged into the nearby gutter. One of the frightened criminals quickly made for the policeman’s gun while their leader identified simply as Mbala, pulled out his gun and shot the CP on the chest before they quickly zoomed off from the scene.

Detectives have launched a big hunt for the leader of the gang called Mbala whom other arrested suspects said pulled the trigger. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang are being arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court in Enugu.

So, for those who said the cause of his death was a raging land crisis in Kwara State and those who said he had a disagreement with Police authorities in Abuja, here is the account of the event as confessed by the criminals.

Police sources said that when the suspects were taken to prison custody in Enugu to be remanded, the warders were openly grumbling by stating that most of them had been their old customers and that they gave them a lot of problems while in their custody.

It is really a pathetic story…but at least, the Nigerian Police seems to have done a good job of this one…what do you think?

CelebritiesMusic Artiste, Tiwa Banks Cries For Justice 7 Months After Brutal Stabbing by ganase2(op): 5:35pm On Jul 10, 2013
I remember vividly the uproar that greeted the shocking brutality suffered to this lady about 7 months ago.

However, here she still is, crying for justice when the guy that almost killed her in her own room is still walking freely as if nothing happen

Below is the message she (Tiwa Banks) is send as S.O.S to the public and law enforcement agencies
I am Tiwa Banks, I couldn't sleep last night from the severe pains of the injuries I sustained from my ex-land lord son(Tobi Obadina) stabs and knowing the one who caused me this pains has been granted bail from the first day in court and still moves about freely after seven months hurts the more.
This was a boy who intentionally hit me during the day and I went in to avoid him. Knowing that I wasn't willing to fight he went to the window of my room poured a bucket of water inside, went to the parlor broke the louvres threatening and shouting on how "he had meant to destroy me and see I'll move on in life".

I was hoping to stay indoor and go report his threats at the police station the following morning but he didn't allow that as he barged into my room at night stabbed me , wait there while I was bleeding and threatened that anyone who comes around will bath with blood and a neighbor and my brother who tried to rescue got stabbed as well. He was willing to scare people away and watch me bleed to death.

When he got distracted again by my brother he started chasing him around with bottle. Immediately he left, the first person I saw was the father and I pleaded for help but instead he went back inside and shut the door behind himself. As soon as I was rushed to the hospital the landlord carried water and washed even the smallest drop of blood stains in the passage away before the arrival of friends and family, when he was asked why he's at home as if nothing happened he said he had bad sight! but that did not prevent him from washing everything that might stand as evidence against his son away!

Its now obvious that this boy knew what he was saying when he said he won't run for the crime he has committed and nothing would be done to him, Pls use my dp and rbc this message till justice prevails on this case, less the innocents suffers in vain PLS!

HealthDESPERATE: Man Wears Cage To Stop Himself From Smoking! by ganase2(op): 7:44am On Jul 08, 2013
Mr Ibrahim Yücel, 42, has been smoking two packets of cigarettes a day since the age of 16. He is from Kutarya in Turkey and has tried to quit smoking for 26 years now to no avail.

Since his father died of lung cancer, he has been desperate to quit for the good of his health and his family but always found himself retyrning to the habit. Until he came up with this wonderful anti-smoking device...more pictures on how the helmet works after the cut.

Similar to a birdcage, it prevents him from smoking a cigarette at all. Every morning he heads off to work wearing the elaborate device and leaves the keys to the cage with his wife and his children, meaning there is no way he can break his vow to himself. For now, the plan seems to be working out fine...just that the children in his neighbourhood are still trying to get used to it.

RomanceWhat Is“ I Love You” In Your Local Dialect? by ganase2(op): 7:30am On Jul 08, 2013
So, we sat down under the canopy one day as we listened to a NYSC lecture on the Hausa language. Barely had the lecturer finished teaching us how to greet in the language when the male corpers started shouting; "What is 'I Love You' in Hausa?!" And really, the phrase is one that cannot be ignored in any language; probably falling into the class of the most repeated. So, here is a list I found of how to say "I Love You" in different languages:

Spanish - Te amo
Finnish - Mina rakkastan
French - Je t'aime
German - Ich leibe
Italian - Ti amo
Chinese - Wo ai ni
Swedish - Jag alskar dig
Turkish - Seni seviyorum
Hungarian - Se ret lay
Setswana - Ke ago rata
Kinyarwanda -Ndagukunda
Indian: Those who like to watch Indian films should fill-in the gap o....!
Pidgin: I dey feel you...(of course, there are several other synonyms too...)

So, how do you say "I love you" in your own local dialect?

Car TalkHow To Win Bus Struggle In Lagos by ganase2(op):
In Lasgidi, yours truly has learnt that in the event of bus scarcity, "tushness" will simply get one nowhere. I have always hated stampedes or physical struggles of whatever kind, but I have also realized that without summoning enough courage to join the teeming crowd of people that fight tooth and nail to get into the few approaching buses, I probably will never be punctual to work and other appointments.

And really, I have schemed the situations at Lagos bus-stops and from my experience, have now put together these systematic tips to make you smarten up and get on the bus the next time there is a crowd at the bus stop, while still maintaining your dignity…so, let’s share!

· Decide on how important the outing is. Is it a family gathering or get together? Are you going to work or from work? Of course, this will help you to determine how desperate you are to get a bus and how much you are willing to part with to get the next bus.

· If it applies to you, put a call through to a superior that you might be late. It is better to surprise him and turn up early than to be late with late notification or none at all. It just goes to show how responsible you are and how much you value time. Of course, this will work for you if don’t make lateness a habit.
· Is it a rainy day, this will limit the kind of struggle you will want to engage in. Don’t stand in front of a pool of water…you sure do not want to get to work soiled.
· Don’t leave your phone in your pocket or back pack. Hold it firmly in your hand or better still, in a bag that is tightly secured and visible to your sight even as you struggle. Tidy up yourself…MP3 players, ear pieces, envelopes etc. are not bus-struggle friendly.
· Now as a bus approaches, target where the bus is most likely to come to a halt and wait for it there. Don’t jump into a moving bus, especially if you are a lady.
· It’s a struggle and not a fight. Don’t give elbows and knuckles as free gifts just to enter the bus.
· The conductor of the bus might say “ko lo o…” meaning literarily, “the bus is not going”. Dear brancher, do get on the bus first and then listen to the conductor after! (The usual case is that when the bus gets filled up with people, the driver changes his mind and then conveys the passengers to their destination. If not, you can easily alight from the bus with no harm done to anyone!). The same rule applies when you can’t hear where the bus is going and you are really desperate. Get on the bus first and ask later…funny, isn’t it?
· Enter the bus with your entire body first and then your legs (not the other way round). Stretch your body to amass space for yourself first, and then enter with your legs. This way, you do not face the danger of an accident if the bus gets to move while you’re still struggling since your legs are still out.
· Don’t enter in through the boot or window; it is not smartness but “razzness”.
· Give special consideration to pregnant women and nursing mothers. You can be nice enough to alight for them to come in if you are not in a hurry.
· Never give up if you don’t make it after the struggle, still stand very close to the bus. Chances are that some two people may be found lapping, making it necessary for an extra passenger to enter the bus…or someone would be alighting because of the usually exorbitant fare called by the conductor.
So reader...until you get your own ride, be smart and good luck in that next bus struggle…!

HealthHow To Stop Vaginal Odor by ganase2(op): 4:58pm On Jul 03, 2013
Strong vaginal odor can be the result of douching, excessive washing, wearing clothes that
are too tight or the wrong kind of panties and certain chemicals in your soaps. This strong
odor can be embarrassing. If you have been having this situation and you are tired of it,

Here are some tips on how to eliminate vaginal odor:

1) Stop using fragrant body washes and soaps. It is best to use a mild soap with warm
water. Soaps that are too harsh or have too many chemicals and fragrances can actually make
your vagina produce more discharge that gives off that foul and fishy smell.

2) Avoid using douches to clean your vaginal area. Douching can alter the balance of healthy
bacteria in your vagina, causing other bacteria to grow and create a foul vaginal odor.

3) Wear cotton underwear, Panty hose and any synthetic material will block some air flow to
the area. Loose cotton garments will give your private part more ventilation, which will
help get rid of vaginal odor.

4) Wear a panty liner.A thin, scented panty liner can help with odor by absorbing discharge
and sweat, some panty liners contain anions. Anions are negative ions that Reduce
stress, strengthen immunity, enhance hormonal balance, aids the prevention of bacterial
infections. and most of all reduce odor.

5) Eat yogurt. Yogurt that contains live cultures adds probiotics, or good bacteria, into
your body. This can work if you have a mild case or a yeast infection that is just starting
out.

6) Insert yogurt into your vagina using a clean tampon. If you have really strong odor or a
yeast infection that is bothering you, putting the yogurt directly into your vagina works
better than consuming it orally. Use only plain unsweetened yogurt when inserting it. Do not use yogurt that contains sugar, as this can make the yeast infection worse. Rinse thoroughly after removing the tampon. For those who do not use tampons, you can use vaginal creams that contain Clotrimazole that helps in treating yeast, candida and gives a clear non smelly discharge. An example of such creams are Mycoten vaginal cream, and tablets.

7) Avoid foods that contain a lot of sugar and yeast. Foods such as bread, beer and
mushrooms contain yeast, and the sugar in other foods turns into yeast. These foods can
increase the amount of yeast in your vagina, causing a yeast infection.

cool Clean up after urinating. Most of the times,it isn't safe using any kind of
tissue, baby wipes are also useful you could get one for as cheap as 300 Naira only.

9) Bath regularly.

10) Eat good fruits and vegetables.

PhonesControl Your Iphone Using Your Head by ganase2(op): 9:27am On Jun 29, 2013
Wonders, they say, shall never end. Apple is said to have included features fora head movement in its 1OS 7 beta version. With a simple quick jerk of the head to the left or right, users could be able to get to the home page, select apps, or control the device's volume.

How will it work?
Users can swipe between menus, select apps and control the device's screen, using just head movements. When the required section is highlighted, users can move their heads to the left to select it. Alternatively, users can move their heads to the right to go back to the home screen and begin scrolling again.

The feature is apparently an accessibility option, which means it would have to be turned on by the user. Typically accessibility options are for people with disabilities who are hearing, vision, or physically impaired. It appears the feature can also be customized for each individual user.

Apple has not provided an exact date for the final iOS 7 release, short of this fall, when the company is also expected to introduce its next iPhone.

It is highly recommended that you get this one...i only hope that you don't twist a neck in the process of operating the phone. *smiles

SportsWimbledon Of Crazy Surprises by ganase2(op): 9:13am On Jun 29, 2013
This year's edition is simply what I call the Wimbledon of crazy surprises:

Tennis ace Rafael Nadal has crashed out of Wimbledon in just the first round.

The world number five and two times Wimbledon champ suffered a surprising defeat by Steve Darcis. He was beaten in straight sets, 7-6 7-6 6-4, by Steve Darcis of Belgium - who is ranked 135 in the world. Nadal, who won the French Open just two weeks ago, had never previously lost in the first round of a major tournament.

Roger Federer and "his ego" took an unbelievable battering at the hands of a little-known Ukrainian as the Swiss champion and holder of a record 17 grand slam titles was sent spinning out of Wimbledon on a day dubbed as 'Whacky Wednesday'.

A record that took 36 grand slams and nine years to create was turned on its head by 116th-ranked Sergiy Stakhovsky who rocked the All England Club to its core as he inflicted a brutal 6-7(5) 7-6(5) 7-5 7-6(5) second-round defeat on a man he called a "Wimbledon legend".

Tennis champion, Maria Sharapova and player, Caroline Wozniacki both required treatment after nasty tumbles during shock defeats on No 2 Court. Sharapova, who slipped in almost the same spot as Wozniacki, complained to the umpire "this court is dangerous". Seven players pulled out with injuries recently, many directly blaming the hallowed turf. Wozniacki claims the grass is longer while Sharapova opines the plane is just dangerous.

"All time craziest days at Wimbledon - ever!" you'll join me in saying.

Contest organizers in Brazil have pronounced 65-year-old grandmother, Irenilda de Oliveira Meneses as Brazil's most beautiful elderly woman.

The pageantry was open to women who are above age 60. Out of 200 contestants, and being one of the 25 finalists selected to compete in the beauty pageant in Sao Paulo, the gorgeous grandmother has emerged queen.

Meneses, a mother of two, has this to say about winning the pageantry, "To win is very exciting, very exciting. I'm so moved, I'm speechless, very speechless".

The women were judged on their physical appearance, smile, personality, elegance and more. The entire essence of events as this, as summed up by contest organizer, Anilton Guedes, is that these elderly women feel like they are participating in life. They are brought out of whatever negative situations they face as a result of their age to feel happy, celebrated and young again.

Awesome stuff this is, you'll say.

NYSCLetter To An Otondo: Preparing For NYSC Orientation Camp by ganase2(op): 7:46pm On Jun 24, 2013
O-t-o-n-d--o! How sweet it now sounds in my mouth

Perhaps, the first thing you have to learn is to get used to being called "Otondo". It is not an abusive word like so many people think...someone once told me that it is the yoruba name for white fowl. If so be the case, you can guess it applies to you since you'd be on white for the next three weeks. So, just give an angelic smile when someone calls you by that name and don't take offense.

Ehen, so I was an otondo earlier this year, and yes, I have acquired enough experience to put me in the place of senior corper...lol.

You're probably packing your bags by now, ready to leave for the Batch B orientation camp tomorrow. The first thing you should note is that you don't need excessive luggage...cut down on mufti cloths and jewellery, shoes and bags a whole lot because you will not even be allowed to wear them. Instead, buy more of your white vests, shorts, socks and snickers. It won't be a bad idea to have as many as possible for each day of the week, depending of course on your pocket. But buy at least two each to augment those you'd be given in camp. Chances are that you'd never have a perfect fit from those, so prepare for that.

Some things just are unneccessary, for instace, a bucket. You can always get that at the Maami market. Travel light as much as possible...if you think your provisions will make your bag heavy, you can also decide to cut down on those and buy the rest of what you need at the Maami market...it would be a little more expensive of course, but you'd be saving yourself a lot of stress.

A mosquito net is very important.

Likewise a phone with a good battery life. You'd be charging your phone with N5O at Maami (there are usually no sockets in the rooms) and apart from the cost of having to charge so often, you'd also be unreachable since your phone will be switched off while it' charging.

Taking along your Iphone, Ipad, Tablet etc. is what I call Irisk!

How much is exactly right to take to camp? Calculate your transport fare to and fro (make room for a rise in the fare)...calculate how much it will cost you to feed yourself (forget about the kitchen food now, chances are that you won't like it) morning, afternoon and night. Calculate the amounts for charging your phone and buying recharge cards. You'd most likely be amending your khakhi; it costs N600 to do that. You'd also be snapping a lot of pictures. The amount you arrive at will give you a fair idea of how much to take along. Remember, most orientation camps don't have ATM machines, so you may not be able to withdraw cash. Also, you may not be coming home immediately after camp.

If you have a good camera, take it along. It will save you the cost of snapping pictures and will ensure that your moments on camp are well captured.

Camp is stressful, so stressful you'd begin to wonder why everyone says it is fun...I guess you'd just have to make it fun for yourself by making friends, being yourself, participating in the activities, obeying the rules and not hating the soldiers.Simply count it all joy when you have to do things according to camp time-table against your better judgement.

Ensure that your orientation about unity, religious tolerance, ethnic harmony and other national issues are truly fine-tuned....otherwise you'd just have wasted your time. Why? It's an orientation camp!

CelebritiesREVEALED: How To Date A Celebrity by ganase2(op): 7:36pm On Jun 24, 2013
Does everyone have a celebrity crush? Some people do, some don't. Some people just actually are so desperate, they want to date a celebrity. Whatever the case, if you are so convinced that a certain celebrity is the one for you...you certainly have a whole lot of work to do in standing out from the crowd. Alright, here's what to do:

1.Write a Letter: Don't be vain, and don't be conventional. When writing these letters, don't act like a normal fan! "OMG! You're SO hot!" Will not make you stand out in the crowd, neither will "I love you so much!". Write to them about how they've changed your life, or something more personal. It is unlikely that your chosen celebrity will actually read them, but if you keep writing letters, they will most likely read one of them.

2. Tweet them: Remember, the more connections you have to them, the better your chance you have of getting noticed by them. Mention them in your tweets and they are most likely to follow you in return.
3. Enter contests. Many websites and magazines offer contests where you get to meet a certain celebrity. Some even offer contests where you get to go out on a date with them. Enter as many of these contests as possible, because they'll definitely notice you if you're right in front of them!

4. Become a celebrity yourself! Oh...oh...now that's a good one. Or were you planning to rest on the crest of their own "celebrityhood"? Lol. Find a talent that you're good at. To become really famous, try becoming a singer, actor, or model. You could also write a book, become a sports star, invent something, or even become a film director! Chances are that you'd get to meet them somewhere or in some place.

5. Talk to the celebrity normally: Some people faint because of a celebrity...hehehe...who is a celebrity but a normal individual who has some talent and who appears on television? Okay, it is granted that celebs are adorable, but it is not a good reason for you to idolize. Instead, be calm, cool, and collected when around them. Don't talk to them about their fame; they hear about that all the time. Ask them about regular stuff, like their favourite sports team, their pets, etc.
