Jokes EtcVery Funny Video Of Mr Ibu’s ‘son’ Dancing Widly To Dbanj’s Song by ganase2(op): 6:10pm On Aug 28, 2015

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cInrfbppXKc

This is a hilarious short video of a boy of not more than 6 years who could easily pass as the song of the popular Nollywood actor, Mr Ibu, dancing passionately to Dbanj’s ‘Feeling A Nikka’.

So funny seeing the kid dancing, whining, twisting, shaking, gesturing and even touching the wall with much dexterity.

Credits to Kracks TV….really cracking up!

Yes, it was done in Nigeria until recently. Does the name Mosunmola Oladipo ring a bell? She's Miss Virgin Nigeria 2015. And according to the founder of the Miss Virgin pageant, one Adunni Adediran, the girls that took part in the competition were manually tested just to make sure that they were indeed virgins before being allowed to part take.

RomanceSee How Virginity Testing Is Done In Some Parts Of Africa (pictures) by ganase2(op): 4:23pm On Aug 27, 2015
Just imagine this scenerio playing out somewhere on the street of Lagos: several women gathering together in name of ‘virginity testing’ and you as a lady is expected to remove your pant in public to determine whether you are you are still a ‘chasis’ or ‘tokunboh’ down there….hian!

The virginity test is a practical process by which a female is determined if she is a virgin or not, in a nutshell it is knowledge of whether a girl has engaged in sexual intercourse or not.

Much has been said for and against the practice with the ‘gladiators’ doing battle in the arena of society but the fact is the virginity test in Africa is as old as the hills which may continue for years to come.

On March 23, 2011, Amnesty International protested to the Egyptian government over the virginity test forced on women protesters, a move they referred to as ‘nothing less than torture’.

The test involves the inspection of the female hymen, the hymen being in place signifies her virginity but a torn hymen shows that sexual intercourse has occurred for it can only be torn by this process.

Virginity testing especially in Africa can be described as crude, controversial and unethical because of the methods some which include putting two fingers in the vagina to test for its flexibility, a process which is called the ‘two finger test’.

Virginity tests in Africa vary in the different regions, girls of the Kenuzi tribe from Sudan are married before their age of puberty by adult males who would inspect them manually for their virginity.

Virginity tests in Africa has been hotly debated by two schools of thought, those who are support of it and those who say that the practice is a relic of a lost age in these modern times. The former state their point a female’s pride is having her hymen intact, a proof of her maturity for marriage. A proof of blood on a white handkerchief is displayed to all present including the new bride, her husband to be and their parents.

The argument of the antagonists is that such crude laws should have long been done away with as it belongs to the forgotten Stone Age and not these modern days of civilization. They also argue that the virginity test is more of a sexist bomb which okays sexual intercourse outside the home for men but frowns heavily on women, a case of what is good for the goose is not good for the gander.

The question i will pose here is this: Is this kind of ‘testing’ being done in Nigeria?

CelebritiesDo You Remember This Nigerian TV Station? by ganase2(op): 6:23pm On Aug 26, 2015
Lol, I couldn’t help but laugh when i saw this picture.

For those who are referred to as ‘indomie’ generation (no pun intended), they might not remember this very old TV station, NTA 7.

Even though I was a child then, the memory still remains fresh on my mind. what strikes me the most is the opening sound that sends the kids running to the front of the television set to watch their favorite TV program.

How time flies that such station has to go underground, and most especially in Lagos, NTA station is of little relevance.

This TV station was among the existing stations in those days when Parle soda, Limca and Gold-spot were usually advertised in one sequence…

In addition, Erinkeke, a comedy series by popular Yoruba Comedian “Baba Suwe” that swept viewers off their feet was aired weekly. There was another exciting program “Tales by Moonlight” which always kept children close to the TV screen with eyes glued. It was a program that children always wanted to watch and would therefore finish up their house chores on time to avoid restriction from watching it by their parents.

I remember the” News Panorama” which is just the same as what we call the News Headline presently. “Hogbe” was News casted in Igbira language (Badagry) and we had to laugh and make fun of the Newscaster whenever the News was being read. “News-line” was another interesting program that was usually aired, it was all about events and happenings around Nigeria, more of a National documentary.

What a good nostalgia!

Even President Barack Obama, Rihanna, and the Kardashain girls are doing the new viral pose as seen in the photos. The couple pictured in one of the #Confidential photos here seems to ‘confidentially’ romantic though

Romance10 Commandments Of Keeping Your Man by ganase2(op): 3:19pm On Aug 20, 2015
Life is a game and every game has its rules and which brings the thrill of victory when you follow them and the agony of defeat when they are broken. There are so many rules when it comes to dealing with the male folks especially the alpha males but I would just reduce it to ten or if you don’t mind I have called them the ‘Ten Commandments’

1 Thou shall honour thy man: That is a general rule ladies for we men do not stay let alone remain in places that we are neither honoured nor respected. Respect is to a man what affection is to a woman. So respect your man and you have as good as kept him but disrespect him and he is on the next flight into the arms of another woman.

2 Thou shall not nag him: If it is anything that ticks us guys off is endless nagging, we had enough from our mothers, grandmothers, aunts and even sisters. Here is one cup we will want pass over us. We hate being nagged more like scratching a bottle crown on the floor.

3 Thou shall change thy man: ‘I will change my man’ is what most girls say, big mistake because you did not create him therefore you cannot recreate him

4 Thou shall call him: If you must keep your man try as much as possible to call or return his calls for failure to do that will force him to go seeking the girl next door. Nothing is more annoying than calling and refusing to return calls or not even calling at all.

5 Thou shall be brief: Men are not like ladies who love to talk shop, they are the ‘news in brief headlines only’ people. If you must not lose your man to another woman then keep your conversations simple and straight

6 Thou shall not be his mother: One mother is tough enough, two is going over the edge. Your man wants you to be his lady and not another ‘Mummy’

7 Thou shall not pitch him against his friends: Take it or leave it ladies, one of the most annoying things you can do to your man is to set him against his friends and God help you he does not find out because if he does, he will reconcile with his friends meaning only one thing, you’re history. A man’s friends are like his wall of protection and woe betide the person that brings down such walls

8 Thou shall remember his birthdays: To keep forgetting your man’s birthday is just not it because that is the day he came into existence. Remember his birthday and you become his love for life

9 Thou shall not intrude his privacy: Men are logical thinkers by nature and to think clearly they need solitude or silence to bring out the best ideas, don’t intrude on this privacy of his hence that is a seven letter word ‘trouble’

10 Thou shall not slander him: Men think less of women who gossip about them to their female folks, they find it hard to keep secrets with you as we are secretive in nature

Scrolling down to read comment on this on this thread https://www.nairaland.com/2463850/timaya-throws-shades-mtv-base

I saw his his post claiming to sell data for affordable prices - he goes by the name MEGADATA

I called him up and he explained the way it works (which wasnt different from regular way data guys sell)

After sending the recharge card denomination he requested for, i sent him phone number to activated the data

Now for good 5 days, he kept blaming the network for the inability of me getting the data amount i paid for. This is the first time i would ever experience such claim of delay in close to ayear of purchasing data!!

After making enquiries from folks, i found out he is a BIG scammer and is now using using a popular and all-Nigerian platform that Nairaland represents to defraud innocent Nigerians

This is his Nairaland ID https://www.nairaland.com/megadata

N.B: Before anyone blame one for trying to pay less for the amount of data he claims to sell, consider the issue of high cost of internet in Nigeria, especially for young organisations like our that depends so much on the internet to provide legitimate services for clients including subscribing for staff members in offices and virtual location, then you will know why one would want to grab 'opportunity' of lower cost of purchasing internet data

CelebritiesHow Ali Baba Turns Dbanj's Business Manager - Vanguard by ganase2(op): 5:58pm On Jul 18, 2015
Very nice one by Alibaba inspiring Dbanj to take his business to the next level of prosperity, thereby opening the eyes of young stars music is serious business with great merchandizing prospect and not just music!

Comedian Alibaba and musician D’Banj have so much in common. Both are top dogs in their respective necks of the entertainment jungle. While Ali Baba is acclaimed to be the king of all comedians in Nigeria, D’Banj is fancied as the most successful musician in Africa. So, the question why one would want to work for the other, has a bit of dead rat stink to it.

But going by Ali Baba’s Instagram’s post this morning, Friday, July 17th one may want to be tempted by the thought that D’Banj has the comedian on his payroll. Why? Because Ali Baba has been going round, marketing D’Banj’s Koko products like the Koko gari as he made clear in his tweet:

“I am a strong Supporter of Nigerian Brands. How many politicians bought this Koko Garri to give their supporters? But they gave imported rice abi? When Otunba Ghadaffi started his mobile toilets, people called him “Agbe po!!!” It wasn’t for long, others joined DMT to do what he was laughed at. I know that a few think what’s DBanj thinking to invest in Garri. Newsflash!!!! I bet you all that is a $30b market. I have told him to start promoting it in hotels and restaurants.

Wherever beans and moi-moi is served, there should be packs of Koko Garri as options to pap, dodo and yam. Trust me, you will see how it will grow. I think there should be a Garri soaking competition sef. The hamburger competitions we see on television don’t even have as much entertainment value… Round 1, Koko Garri and groundnuts, round 2, Koko Garri and coconut, round 3 Koko and Kilishi… Powered by Eva Water and Dangote sugar… Winner gets a Koko Garri distribution vehicle and a start up store!

CelebritiesHow Korede Bello’s Manager Goofed - Vanguard by ganase2(op): 3:14pm On Jul 04, 2015
BY IYABO AINA

Korede Bello, one of the fastest rising hiphop singers of today and Don Jazzy of MAVINS’s boy, has got the talent and the right platform to propel him to wherever he aspires to be in the music industry.

The talented upcoming artiste hit the limelight after joining his label mates to record the hit ‘Dorobucci’. Since then, things have been on the up and up for the little guy.

But the snag in his nicely put together set-up may be his manager, who doesn’t seem able to manage an upwardly mobile singer.
One of Potpourri reporters approached him to set up an interview with his budding star and all he could do was to assume an air of smugness, asking how many pages could be given his starlet.

Now, since when has Korede become Don Jazzy or D’Banj? Imagine the balls of the laid back manager called Kasper, even asking for a front page to have the mug of his client in it. Hope Korede isn’t going to let this guy run him out of showbiz.

How long do you want to speak to him for?” D’Banj’s manager, Tara Hecksher, asks me when an interview with the Nigerian superstar is confirmed.
“Can he spare half an hour?”

She laughs, the kind where it’s obvious someone doesn’t mean to, but it bursts out of them. “He’s very impatient. Shall I tell him 15 minutes and, if you get more, then cool? Even I struggle to get him to sit still for 15 minutes.”

So when I arrive at his Sandton hotel on a hot Monday afternoon, I have plans to be quick and get as much of the Koko Master as I can. He’s in South Africa, rather quietly, as part of his 10th anniversary celebrations. When 34-year-old Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo appears, I am half-disappointed it’s not with a flourish and his now distinctive “I’m D’Banj!” heard at the beginning of many of his hits. His Monday afternoon “casual” look is a pair of jeggings, a black Balenciaga tee with patent snakeskin detail and a Cuban gold link chain worn over it, a black pair of bejewelled Christian Louboutin sneakers, two watches (one on each arm) and a covetable pair of black Miu Miu half-moon sunglasses with gold detailing. His swag says “I’m D’Banj!” without him having to say a word.

He speaks in a kind of whisper, as if he’s telling you the secret to selling a million copies of your debut album – which he did with No Long Thing in 2004 – but it’s also part of his charm. A charm he’s well aware of.
When I introduce myself, he makes me repeat my name because it sounds so much like “kokolet”, a slang word he made popular. Kokolet refers to a good-looking woman. He refers to attractive women as kokolets and himself as The Koko Master.
“You are a real kokolet! Jesus is Lord!” he exclaims, clapping.
The singer-songwriter and harmonica player has as many names as he does talents. There’s The Koko Master, D’Banj, Mr Endowed and, lately, DJ Bangalee.

Mr Worldwide

I ask him about his travelling schedule. “I leave tomorrow … [off to] Lagos for a day and then Dubai for another party. From Dubai we’re going to come back to Nigeria … and then America, then back to South Africa …”
I ask him what will be bringing him back and he says: “Maybe a video, but also maybe a performance. But if it is a performance, I don’t want it to be in Joburg. Cape Town has been trying to show me love. So has Durban, and I have never performed there and want to perform for them.”
He continues: “When we started, I said to my team I want to do a minimum of 50 performances. We are at three so far. We are going all over the world. Australia just came in, Brazil, and Canada … We have about 16 already, and we are going everywhere so that my fans can feel me.”
He says he has plans for a double-disc 10th-anniversary album with one disc of new music and the other with some of his hits.
I ask him what the reception was to his two performances in Joburg: “Recently, I found out that the love in South Africa is …” He gestures with his hands, recreating what looks like an atomic mushroom cloud above his head. He says he had no real indication of what kind of following he had in Africa’s second-biggest economy. “I knew there was love, and I experienced it a little bit at the Africa Cup of Nations here in 2013, but I had no real idea. I performed two nights ago and people were shouting ‘Oliver Twist! Oliver Twist!’ and then knew all the words when we did it … Man!”
He, of course, would have missed what his global hit Oliver Twist did to local dance floors in 2012. “I think there’s now competition between South Africa and Nigeria in terms of the support and love.”

Y[b]ou’re only as good as your last match[/b]

Despite his late-2014 single Feeling The Nigga lacking the pop appeal of hits like Oliver Twist, and rumours of mounting debt and money troubles, he still singles out 2014 as his best year yet. “You are always as good as your last match, so I would choose last year as the highlight of my decade so far.” He explains: “2014 was really good. I got three endorsement deals, one of which was more an appointment than an endorsement [referring to his One Campaign ambassadorship].”
In October 2014, he was named the first official African global ambassador for the massive Beats by Dre headphone brand, now owned by Apple. Befittingly, his range of Beats products are black and gold. He’s in a whole other universe to his first endorsement for an energy drink, Power Fist, a decade ago.
“My work with the One Campaign, which focused on youth and agriculture, has been so important, and it was funny when they called me at first.” He calls global One Campaign ambassador Bono his godfather in music. “And then we got together and did it. We won best African collaboration [for the song Cocoa na Chocolate in support of agricultural investments] in December last year at the All Africa Music Awards.
“After February last year, it really got crazy big, and I was invited to different stages, including speaking at the World Bank, World Economic Forum and TEDx.”
He says it’s precisely because it was outside of music that 2014’s successes were so important to him.
“I’ve always wanted to be seen outside of just entertainment … for people to look at me and say: ‘This is a businessman.’ We know what we are doing; we are entrepreneurs. And if you give us the opportunity, we will turn a stone into a palace.”
Undoubtedly, he’s turned a few stones into palaces with his business and Koko brand interests. He’s done everything from mobile content to bottled water, in addition to having sold more than 3 million records worldwide.

Content is the new crude

“Ten years ago when I started, I said I was an entertainer, and I have always been passionate about the music business. When we started, there was really nothing there. We had to make it.”
He says now is the time for artists like him to concern themselves with the business of music, “because music is big business, and there’s so much that African artists still need, and they don’t understand the corporate side of it”.
He explains that while businesses see music as a valuable industry, they are unsure of how to get involved in it.
Artists also don’t know how to make money beyond just making songs. “Where I want to go is beyond the music and focusing on the revenue streams: content, publishing, branding, endorsement, licensing and building up the back end of it. I am seeing myself in the business position more, because content is the new crude [oil].”
In the end, my conversation with D’Banj lasts more than three hours. The dinner gets moved to later and, while we drink his new endorsement vodka, Cîroc, I ask the man who has casually featured Snoop Dogg and Kanye West in his music videos what it is like being D’Banj. He pauses, looks up and says: “I don’t know.”
He thinks for a moment. “It’s because when you are working, you’re just
going and you don’t have time to think about all that stuff and what it means. And sometimes people think they know you.”
He says he used to hate it when artists were separated according to local and international.
Now that he is signed to West’s GOOD Music, has a major international distribution deal with Sony, is endorsed by global brands, and his song Oliver Twist rocketed to number one in 11 countries (“I have never even been to some of them,” he says), this African success story can call himself whatever he wants

PoliticsWhere Is Presidential Candidate, General Buhari by ganase2(op): 2:21pm On Mar 02, 2015
Just came to my consciousness this morning this pertinent question: Where is GMB?

He was in UK one week to the Chattam House Speech which took place last week and by Wednesday this week, it would be a full week after the Speech, yet he is still in the UK - meaning a full two weeks 'rest' if not more

My questions are

1) Admitted that he was there in UK one week to the day of the speech, almost one week after, still giving speeches?
ii) Of course he is 73 (one may say no one is forcing him to contest), are u saying that the campaign stress has suddenly got too much for him and so when he is not elected preseident yet, he could go on "well-deserved" rest?
iii) If elected president, will this be an indication that the destinies of over 170 million Nigerian lies in the hand of Old less-fit president?
iv) The energy dedicated to the chattam speech rendezvous could have been channeled to a debate between the incumbent and the hopeful
v) Or is APC as a party or Buhari as a preseidental hopeful demolarised by sudden plummeting of the Boko Haram Insurgence by the present administration and Military few weeks to the election a(as reported by Al-Jazeera TV network)

Before some low IQ persons blinded by 'sai Buhari' chanting start quoting, am one of the million undecided voters. We need answers as we monitoring every move and every situations before the general elections. Wether 'transformation' or 'change', we need a nation we are proud of and call our own

The problem with in this country, especially youths on social media is that we dont ask pertinent questions that relates to the betterment of our nation and those who ask are drowned by propagandas
PoliticsOPINION: Facts On How Buhari And Co Have Put Us In This Mess We Are In Nigeria by ganase2(op): 8:49am On Jan 31, 2015
We need change, real change we need....As a Yoruba young man, i refuse to be blinded by all the propaganda flying every.

APC or any other party could have provide us with a better candidates than Jonathan
. .
This is fact stated by a voting Nigerian

These are facts that we as youth need to think about seriously. The biggest of corruption in Nigeria lies in the oil sector, the cash cow of Nigeria's economy (apart from the likes of custom, Police and House of Assemblies, Minstryies etc) and General Buhari has been at the heart of

FACT No. 1: Buhari was appointed the Head of Petroluem industry in 1977 and by time he booted president Shagari through a coup d'tate, it was reported that about $2.8 billion dollars wen missing. Here with all the cover-up reports and all the boo-haha, it was 'said' that General Buhari was totally 'clean'

DEDUCTION HERE: When you finally produce reports that wash the Head of a parastatal 'clean - the most significant and cash cow parastal for that matter; then you say in one word, then you indirectly and directly tell us that the leader under who nose all those fraud, a fraud in the magnitude of $2.8 billion went missing as early late 70s/early 80s when a Naira was almost par with the dollars. That kind of leadership need to placed into questio much more committing the economies of 170 million Nigeria under such 'sterling' leadership

FACT NO 2: He was head Head of Government for less than a year and it was reported that during his tenure, the refining of oil was first exported outside the shores of Nigeria - precisely Brazil to start with.

DEDUCTION HERE: When you take the refining of oul which is the mainstay of the economy of the "giant' of Africa, you not only take along with it the core production jobs but also other supporting services (now unemployement could have worsen as a result of this, for those who understand economics) which also leads to reduction in our refinery capacities and other sectors like railway, manufacturing etc

FACT NO 3: General Buhari was also again the head of PTF - under General Abacha where he headed major decision making in term of how to allocate proceeds made from oil, still the economy mainstay

LESSON HERE: When you head this unit under a most major parastatal under the most brutal government Nigeria ever had and one the most cruel one in the world where billions of dollars were squandered and wasted where he publicly stated that Abacha government was not corrupt, then his anti-corruption stance and

ADDITIONAL FACT: Under the tenure of General Buhari as head of state, one man who a lot of Nigerian youths dont even know was appointed as head of Mines, Power and Steel Ministry (this era when the electricity generation and distribution started in this Nation) and later in In 1986 he was appointed Federal Minister of Petroleum Resources, holding that position until February 1990. In that role, he was also chairman of the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. He was Chairman of the board of directors of the National Electric Power Authority (1993–1994....again). He was also overseeing the Petroleum ministry during General Obasanjo govermenment

During these tenures, the enormity of the corruption in Oil industry was globally known and well documented, and the devastating degeneration in the power sector that we all bearing the brunt today.

Under these tenure, the biggest and the most fraudulent of corruption have taken place - with General Buhari at the helm!
