PoliticsRe: Goodluck Jonathan And The Expectations Of Nigerians-festus Keyamo by gaskydudu: 8:07am On May 19, 2011
There are some sailent points there, however, Festus should not be pessimistic. I also do not agree with some of his assertions, will send feedback soon.

All in all, the best we can do is hope and pray for our dear country Nigeria!

TV/MoviesRe: Sesame Street Makes Its Debut On Nta by gaskydudu: 9:07am On May 12, 2011
I may be wrong, but how many kids watch NTA these days?  embarassed  DSTV, HiTV and the likes have decentralised TV viewing. I remember as a kid it either NTA 2 channel 5, NTA 10 etc, all the adverts were centralised, programmes like sesame street, the same. With the variety now, things can't be the same anymore. Cbeebees on DSTV will give them a run sad

Anyway sha , i pray the proposed Sesame Street makes an impact on Nigerian kids
PoliticsRe: Buhari’s CPC Sues Jega, INEC by gaskydudu: 12:32pm On May 09, 2011
GenBuhari:
If u were expecting an error free election then you must be joking, on many standards the election was fair. If i want to quantify it i'll give it a pass mark of 65% which is better than any election held in this country ever!

It is on that benchmark that i judge the elections. It can only get better.
PoliticsRe: Buhari’s CPC Sues Jega, INEC by gaskydudu: 10:01am On May 09, 2011
Buhari cannot win. let's be true to ourselves.

The elections were relatively free and fair. Yes there was rigging which was curtailed. It is not overnight that you achieve perfection. We all know there were irregularities but what matters most is that the INEC tried to make it as transparent as possible , and over time we will get there. Please give Jega a break!!! Even in developed countries , it's still not perfect.

GEJ is the people's choice whether Buhari likes it or not. Maybe in 2015 things may fall in his favour, not now.

And is "Mr Integrity" innocent of all these ? Rubbish!!!

He should embrace the new government jor, and see how he can contribute to make Nigeria governable when the youths take over in the nearest future grin
Foreign AffairsRe: Gaddafi's youngest son and 3 grandchildren killed in NATO air strike by gaskydudu: 8:24pm On May 02, 2011
Q1- Why wasn't Egypt bombed?
Q2- Bahrain as well?
Q3- Do you knw how many innocent peeps have been killed by Ghadaffi?

It is sad that some members of his family have been killed just like other innocent citizens, so why doesn't he want a dialogue?, or at least stop the crisis? is he not fighting and killing his own people? I reckon not only Libya has oil, other middle east countries going through the crisis have oil too, so i chose to believe that isn't a primary reason for the bombings.

There is a revolution going on in the arab world; a breakdown of their societal norms. Any smart mid-eastern leader who hasn't been caught by the bug should be re-evaluting his stand as a leader. Mubarak was smart enough to handle his country with caution even though there were lost lives. Remember , the military in Egypt were not involved; Ghadaffi is being unecessarily stubborn. He has ruled for donkey years, his people don't want him anymore, he should go! This can be likened to Gbagbo's case where he was snookered at the end.

Most African leaders are just self centred!
PoliticsRe: Imo State Guber: Rochas Okorocha Has Won! by gaskydudu: 3:37pm On Apr 28, 2011
all i see in nigerian politics is face value politics and not ideological politics,

if i ask what is the major difference between PDP and ACN/CPC/APGA, what would be the answerhuh
what most people (and sadly, most posters on nairaland ) would say is PDP is a rigging and looting party,

and i say, is that what makes APGA/CPC/ACN a viable option??

in the US, when a politician tells you he/she is a republican, i can predict what his general views on certain issues are, likewise a democrat,
even in GBR, i can tell you the difference btw a conservative and a labour party candidate. but here in nigeria all we are interested in is pouring invectives,
nobody is ready to take a meaningfull position on "bread and butter" issues,

all what we hear is light , roads, water, (the same worn out shibboleth used by generations before us)
i pray a time would come when our parties would have their ideological values, only then would political whoring stop and then people can choose party affiliation based on issues and not on religion/ethnicity

good thinking!!

EducationRe: List Of The Top 10 Best Universities In Nigeria by gaskydudu: 12:06pm On Apr 06, 2011
Hmmm, Just like the US and UK, the ivory league and redbricks are mostly the oldest universities. Based on this benchmark my ranking is as follows:

1. University Of Ibadan-(biased decision for obvious reasons) wink
2. O.A.U
3. U.N.N
4. UNILAG
5. UNIBEN
6. A.B.U
7. University of Ilorin
8. Covenant Uni- These entered the league cos i've worked with a couple of graduates from there, and they have been really smart

I can't think of any more, sorry tongue
PoliticsRe: Buhari, Ribadu, Shekarau Pull Out Of BON Debate by gaskydudu: 2:00pm On Mar 25, 2011
In my own opinion ,  i am utterly disappointed at Buhari, Shekerau and Ribadu; Buhari especially. Two wrongs don't make a right, These guys are potential presidents for God's sake!!!!! The debate wasn't for them, it was for Nigeria. What i would have expected was for them  to express their grievances against Johnny, and turn up. C'mon, that was childish.

Buhari, who has been a president before (though as a military personnel) should have known better. And to think that i was even considering him! If he didn't join the band wagon, i clearly would have chosen him!

My point however is the our leaders should be matured, that move could promote violence. If the heads do that , why would you blame the masses for the unrest that goes on?
