That's why Phyna's native name is Ijeoma. She even said it herself repeatedly on the show.

During their cultural wager, she just joined Chichi and Rachel cos she's from same state with her. She didn't sing along with them cos she doesn't understand anything they sung. Rachel was the main person singing sef. Chichi wasn't that fluent.
