Iykebest4u: Everyone has different tastes when it comes to interior design, but at the end of the day, most people want to live in a home that’s comfortable, stylish, and a true reflection of their personality. You don’t have to be a professional designer to put together an amazing (and functional) living space, but you might find yourself running into a few classic styling mistakes. Luckily, Iykebest interiors Nig have highlighted 10 common mistakes you should learn from while designing your home, and also how you can avoid them altogether!
Tips For Choosing Window Blinds
In many homes and most offices, blinds are commonly used to give shade and privacy to the place. Unlike curtains, the amount of light that can be let in can be controlled if you have installed blinds on your windows.
Many people feel that the problem with having blinds is the installation. It may be true. But these people neglect the fact that there are also other things that have to be considered before purchasing blinds, not only the color and the size are important when choosing blinds for one’s home or office windows.
Here are some tips:
Style- Blinds can come in different styles, the most popular now of which is the Zebra blinds. Decide on what style you wanted depending on the functionality and design of your windows.
Zebra blinds( Day and night) - are a very modern alternative to a horizontal blind. Zebra Shades are Roller shades that allow you to transition between sheer and privacy. The blinds can be adjusted so that the 3″ zebra stripes line up-offering privacy, light control, and insulation.
Roller Shades – these are made specially treated opaque or vinyl fabric that is wrapped around a dowel, which employs a spring or a beaded cord system to roll the fabric up or down. This is good if you want to have complete privacy and to protect the furniture from fading. The ends can be straight or shaped, and trimmings or contrasting braid can be added as design.
Roman Shades – these blinds have a cord woven thru the fabric that allows you to raise or lower the shade in an according pattern.
Venetian Blinds – or horizontal blinds, have horizontal panels, made of wood or aluminum, which can be adjusted to change the level of sunlight that can be allowed in the room. These are available in different widths ranging from 25mm to 50 mm.
Pleated Shades – these function similarly with Venetian blinds and have flat horizontal fabric panels. To let light enter from the top of the windows, you can have those that have “top-down” design.
Vertical Blinds – have vertical panels that can be adjusted to control the amount of light that enters. It can also be pulled to one side or both sides of the window to allow total natural illumination. Different types of fabric may be used in sizes from 89mm to 127mm.
Honeycomb Shades – are also known as cellular shades. These shades, thru layers of fabric capable of filtering light, can let light in and keep the heat or cold outside, thus giving the room insulation to save on your energy bills.
Woven Wood Shades – These are usually made of bamboo, and blocks direct sunlight from coming into the room but allow some natural light to come in.
Mini Blinds – are also known as macro, micro or aluminum blinds. These have one-inch or two-inch slats to adjust the amount of light that enters the room.
Shutters – these have parallel slats, or louvers, which can be adjusted to change the level of privacy.
Measuring and Installing the Blinds The blinds should be unobstructed that when it is fully extended, it can still hang freely. For accurate measurements, it is recommended that you use a steel ruler.
TIPS FOR CHOOSING CURTAINS The first step to figuring out how to choose curtains is to figure out what your room requires. Oftentimes, homeowners choose curtains, drapes, blinds and shades without knowing the difference. Doing so, these window treatments can actually interfere with the amount of sunlight your room should get. Curtains are fabric panels made of light materials and hang from curtain rods. They are mostly used for privacy purposes, making it perfect for living rooms. Whereas, drapes are made of thicker materials that are made to block out sunlight, making it ideal for bedrooms.
ExecutiveDC: Just got a 2008 Toyota Highlander Tokunbo. Please I need recommendations on the type of oil to use and transmission fluid and any other useful tips for maximum output of the vehicle. As a first time Driver and car owner, your recommendations are highly welcome. Thanks
Mobil1 5w30 engine oil and filter,
Toyota W.S Transmission oil. You can get it from 08033910382 in Lagos
The issue of engine oil light and knocking sound has been resolved.
What he did was to loosen the engine completely. He changed the bearings and repack the metals with paper together with the crankshaft for a firm grip due to clearance as he said the crankshaft is still ok.
My car seems to work perfectly now but when I start engine in the morning, the car rpm raise high and dropped down gradually below 1000 until it jerks and power off. But when I raise the car for several minutes it picks and work normal.
Also, i noticed its consume fuel and makes a humming sound especially when engine is warm.
What could possibly be the issue again.
If the crankshaft (according to his naked eye) is still ok, why not just replace the bearings? Why use paper?
DonnyE: Please I am having an issue where the coolant dries up in the reservoir tank and now I use water to top up. No visible leaks. 03 corolla. Less than 1 year toks.
There is a leak. It is visible, start with water pump
Normal rpm for the vehicle is at 800 Recently when I put on the AC, it jumps to 1000 and slides back to 800, making the vehicle have a sluggish acceleration... corolla 2004
idmoore: Hello Gurus, I want to ask has anybody come across Polytron Metal Treatment Concentrate. An oil treatment for ICE that treats metals inside the ICE and reduced friction and wear & tear to the bearest.
let anyone share their experience in using this Addictive. Am not a fan of addictives but this Polytron has be preached beyond 100% performance to improve engine performance and reduces any friction inside the engine.
I want to use it for my Corolla 2005 engine.
Whats your take... on this Polytron
Additives are not necessary. Change your oil as at when due.
bastien: I serviced my Camry 09 barely two weeks ago....yesterday I wanted to get food so started the car and the engine oil light indicator was showing! Had to scan no possible code. Please what's the actual problem cause the oil gauge level is okay
You do not scan a car when you have issues like oil indicator on when running. There will be no related codes.
AdeniyiA: My car jerks at slow or in traffic, it, d jerking, stops if I put it in Neutral but begins whenever I put in drive or reverse. Finds it difficult to drive up hill but runs well on flat ground. Now it can’t even climb d hill it usually climbs. I bought it from someone, I noticed that the injector mouth was blocked at the small hole in it, when opened the vehicle works high. But was advised to replace it. Plugs changed.
Now i am looking at replacing d fuel pump, and replacing the injector mouth.
FxHouse: Stumbled on this thread during my usual visit to the the car talk section and noticed the whole drama that is beginning to look like a set up.
Been an avid reader but as a guest, seeing this had to make me log back in.
Let's take a quick look at the whole thing from the beginning.
Op went to gazzuzz, gazzuzz couldn't fix the problem, maybe because he lacked the knowledge on how to go about it as at that time.
Now that it looks like the oil switch upgrade is the only solution (which radautoworks had proposed earlier), and going by timelines of posts on this thread she was the first to propose that solution, alongside other valid repairs that were done on the vehicle, including the ones that involved removing and replacing defective parts severally for free (labour hours), because the Op kept providing fake parts, gazzuzz is suddenly interested.
This goes to show that the set up has been orchestrated from the beginning. The op ignored all the positives, there's nothing radautoworks could have done that the op would have appreciated, since he was on a mission.
The uploaded scan results shows the numerous problems the car had prior to taking it to radautoworks, the oil pressure switch issue was just one of it.
Other problems were resolved, the blue smoke was resolved and the reason for the white smoke was given as a result of the bad valve seals the op provided.
No credits for the 100 percent job done, just an upgrade is the reason all this bashing and name calling.
Goes to show how far people would go to bring down radautoworks because she's female, know her onion, she's thriving and they are envious.
Nairalanders should look deeper, this time, unbiased.
Iv never seen or met the OP or worked on his vehicle. ( 8. Don't post false information on Nairaland) However i supplied most of the parts that were used.
Some of you will find this "copy and paste " useful in the future.
Now let's look at the oil pump,
Theses are the expected values i should be getting when testing the oil pump (i googled them and pasted ). It's good to test vehicle at operating temperature since oil becomes thinner when hot and thicker when cold
Engine At Idle: 70kPa (10psi) minimum
At 3000rpm: 490kPa (71psi) minimum
The video below will explain how this works i will be testing this when the vehicle arrives.
GAZZUZZ: Let's start with basic principle of how an oil pressure switch works.
Standard oil pressure sensors work by displaying a warning signal when the oil pressure falls outside of the set range. Two important components to the oil pressure sensor include the spring-loaded switch and a diaphragm. The spring-loaded switch is connected to the diaphragm that is exposed to the oil pressure.
The pressure switch is mounted onto the side of an engine block and wired to an oil gallery. As the force of the oil pressure starts to build on the diaphragm, this force overcomes the switch spring pressure, which then pulls apart the electrical contacts to turn on the warning light. If the oil pressure falls below the set limit, the diaphragm releases pressure off the springs to close the switch contacts that would normally result in the display of a warning sign to the driver .
GAZZUZZ: A lot of back and forth finally you all have my attention.
Crocif i will take on the following repairs on your car for free .
Oil pressure warnings
And Your current codes
P0430, P1717, P2251, P2647.
Topic was posted on cartalk for that reason i will share the repair info with step by step procedures used in solving these issues.
In the meantime my next few post will focus on the theoretical aspects of the repair process before i finally dive into the dirty work.

obidevine: I want to commend Moses also known as mosbus here on Nairaland for fixing my ac issues. I had taken the car to other technicians and they told me my compressor was bad blah blah blah. But when I contacted Mosbus he told me to bring the car to his workshop at isolo in Lagos and he fixed my ac issues without touching my compressor. It turns out my compressor is in tip top shape . He has all the tools and machines for ac fixing. The guy is "good people"
He's not paying me to advertise for him ooohh.
He can be reached via this number for any car ac issues 0803 758 6148
obidevine: When I'm in traffic for a while with the AC on. The AC tends to go off and warm air starts blowing from the AC vents, but when there is no traffic and the AC is on and i am on high speed, the AC stays blowing cool air.
I don't understand what the cause could be
ikdaddy01: Nothing is wrong with your compressor oh. When temp goes higher than normal the Ac will shut off nau. Listen to the guruZ. Check posts☝️
In most cases technicians refill refrigerant blindly.
An overfill will cause excessive pressure on the high side which in turn will cause the system to shutdown to protect its self from further damage.
One of the reasons why it is noticeable in traffic is the static nature of air around the condenser.
Gasses expand when hot and there is a higher buildup when static and worse on a hot day.
Just for scientific purposes, reduce the amount of refrigerant in your system a bit or find a technician with a gauge that can read the high side values. (It should not exceed 200psi)
We all told you nothing was wrong with your compressor
