Toyota Matrix 03 threw check engine light when we were returning from Abeokuta to Lagos

We got it scanned and got P0420 error code.

How do we fix it

NB: The vehicle was bought some weeks ago as Tokunbo and that it's first long journey here

No thermostat, fan connected directly

Good day,

I have a 2006 camry, one day I forgot to close the radiator cover and traveled, gasket got burnt and I changed it.

After which car work very fine but frequently the coil (plug coin) got burnt, I have changed up to 6 now (4 plug engine)

Another thing I noticed was that the radiator water do go down every morning when I check, like I have to top it with plenty water and no sign of water leakage but temperature was normal.

Also the car wasn’t firing very well again, we tried changing coil and plug but still it doesn’t fire when doing slow, except on speed that it fires well.


Few weeks back, I did a small trip and I got a high temperature that I had to park, let it cool down, put water and all, same thing when I was coming back.

Mechanic said I should change my single cell radiator to double which I did immediately.

Today I did another trip and I haven’t even gone far and got high temperature, I stoped and let it cool down and added water, moved a bit then same when I checked top gasket has burnt again (water inside the oil)

I had to get another car to travel, car is still at the mechanic on the road (had to tow it to a nearby mechanic)

My evaporative cannister box at the rear quarter panel is broken though. I do not know (I don't think anyway) if it can be a possible cause because it was broken when it was shipped from the US and it ran fine then

Absolutely none.
MAF was changed last year.
It has been okay all these while.
Just started erratic idle in January. Have changed throttle body thrice... all to no avail.

Gallass:
I changed my throttle body last week due to the same issue.
Idle RPM was unstable that necessitated the changed.
Prior to the throttle body change, MPG was okay. No black smoke.

3.5L VQ35

Fuel consumption increased significantly since last week. Black exhaust smoke at start up (both warm and cold start).
car idles erratically but drives perfectly in motion.
This minute it's normal, the next second, the RPM will drop as low as 300 and goes back to 750 after like 3-5 seconds and the cycle continues.
Car drives very fine but idles poorly and erratically (up and down) especially in traffic.
Spark plug inspection showed black smoke on plug 1.
Car was scanned. I didn't quite note down the DTC but the interpretation is Oxygen sensor Sensor 2 bank 1.

Live data brought up the following (pic attached)
Auto elect said I should come for change of oxygen sensor tomorrow.
I will appreciate your inputs before I go ahead and spend
