Sitting in the drivers seat takes me back 20years, when men were young

Now the restoration begins, but before then let's take a tour.

The rest of the trip to Lagos was glorious, always battling it out with the indomie generation , and winning ![]() Vehicle is a head turner and you see the wow in every ones face when you are being overtaken uphill in 3 gear ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOQCukyVHTE |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y17pDLC0E0 i was unable to open nipples, but was able to unscrew the supply lines to the calipers. Unlike most systems that are bled diagonally this had the front on one line and the rear on another. So this is how it went. Took out the caliper on each side (one at a time) and pumped the brakes gradually so the pistons were extended a bit. Unscrewed the supply line and allowed gravity do it's work, after sufficient flow of fluid, i installed the pipe loosely back to the caliper the. Depressed it , at the loose point air in the caliper and fluid escaped then i locked it tight and installed back on the wheel. After doing that did quick test and brakes were back in shape without the anti lock system. It then occured to me that there was nothing ever wrong with the ABS unit, but i have 340km ahead of me, no time for reverse engineering ..... We moved! |

panlebeter is done, car is now quiet time to bleed brakes. Brake caliper nipples are rusted in, first one i tried broke sef... Now I know why the previous mechanic japa from the brake work without telling the previous owner ![]() Time to apply old sch methods... Sadly i can only describe because at this point i don pull shirt and phone with brake oils dont mix very well so no hugging no touching till i finished work. Let's go back to class on this one . How brakes work and my current predicament . I had air bubbles in the system and inaccessible nipples in front and rear. Let me find content online to further describe solutions used . |
The Exhaust system. Someone here in Nigeria had cut open the exhaust , stolen the catalyst and filled it with wire mesh. While the panel beater was working i bypassed the brake lines. You have to read small to understand the piping diagrams. V stands for front and H for rear (from brake master) v and h stand for front and rear pipes to wheels. Did the bypass and waited for the panlebeter to finish so i could bleed the brakes
|
Before purchasing the car, i was told the brake master had been replaced with a brand new unit, but still had concerns about the braking. With that in mind my logical course of diagnosis (without testing) was a failed and module . I stopped by a spare part shop and bought 2 bypass pipe accessories and some brake oil. My assumption at the time was the tech before me had replaced the brake master, bled the system and still got poor results . The spare part guy referred me to a workshop on the express road with a pit and interestingly a lifter too. He identified the issues with the exhaust while i got to work on the brakes.

I continued like this for about 60km from asaba until i got to a town called agbor... It is a town renowned for having a larger population of its women riding motorbikes ![]() I begin the search for a part seller and a workshop to fix my blocked exhaust. |
I was now doing great speeds and impressively very balanced , the stiff suspension ensured it didn't wave up and down at high speeds steering was really aligned well, tyres all properly balanced, no vibrations just pure power and bliss, i said to my self....... I could get used to this ![]() Next checkpoint ahead i depressed the brakes and she went left instead of slowing down ![]() Brakes don fail o! ![]() As an elder don't panic, just pump several times then try again. Brakes regained pressure and vehicle came to a halt. ![]() |
My exhaust just blew up somewhere in the center , it was loud and annoying , but for the first time since we met, i could feel her jump into life.... She was now hitting the high notes with ease Let me start looking for trouble..... Got to first major checkpoint and decided to race one of those indomie children ![]() He set out before me and i followed behind..... I could feel the animal in her screaming let me go! Literarily firing on all cylinders and transmission doing a good job of holding on till red lines before switching... It was an awesome feeling on each gear change it pushes you back into the seat and surges forward.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo8Bi5817WA I guess the indomie baby was a fear fear one he behaved him self after that. |
Filled up at North West filling station off Mariam babangida way, and headed out.... The movement was really poor, car felt choked ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s22xB5-L1XQ I could literarily feel the vehicle say "I can't breathe" at this point i had 2 options, turn back and check the exhaust system or drive really slow to Lagos. Word of advice at this point, if you are driving a modern day car with a blocked exhaust system stop and get it fixed, you could damage a lot of things in the engine including literarily setting the car on fire . But Gazzuzz was not driving a modern day car, I took a third option which was to push the car harder, in my mind better spoil now let me tow you back to town and take GIG jeje ![]() I started hearing exhaust leaks.... My method was paying off the exhaust leaks were getting louder with until there was a thunderous explosion ! My baby just had an orgasm! |
Praxtech:you can't beat the time machine |
It's late, I'll continue this story when every one is awake . |
First of all let me give you a brief history into my new acquisition. This is vehicle on auction: https://www.copart.com/lot/24468679 Mileage as at leaving the USA was 153,387miles. I got the baby @ 154,900 miles from the Nigerian user. Engine and transmission were in great shape, air-conditioning (needed gas ) , tyres looked great sadly all uniform winter specifications , interior was fair, but a good cleaning would make it look better. Body looked great and free from dents and scratches. Got the car and said farewell to the seller in asaba. Journey begins .

double3:come nah small money ![]() |
PaulH07:That vehicle in a V6 engine is a big NO. The transmission will always fail. |
