Car Talk › Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by GAZZUZZ(m): 7:32am On Aug 26, 2018 |
victorD3: 1) The 15k was for a direct Belgium.
2) the reason I changed it was that both side started making screeching sound (the normal sound shaft make when it fails)ie when you wheel the car towards left or right
3) I got a direct belgium driver and pasenger side shafts the pasenger side pulled on my way home and the shaft was cut and extended but that leg started vibrating when I'm driving
4) Got a new shaft for the pasenger side which worked just fine but within 10months but pulled from the cup (not the gear box) and my Mech fixed it by just recoupling it and putting it back inside
5) shaft pulled again after 2 months and thesame fixing was carried out
6) pulled again after 3 weeks and the tripod inside the cup damaged a bearing. I went for another direct Belgium shaft that also pulled immediately
7) My Mech found out all my engine mount (seating) are gone which I changed including the hear box seating
On putting the shaft again and coupling of everything except tyres I realised if I wheel the car completelyto the pasenger passenger side i feel one of the three bearing porp out from the cup. I can feel it with my hands through the rubber boot.
QUESTIONS 1) is one bearing suppose to porp out? Because im scared of test driving the car so something wont spoil anything if it pulls again.
2) my car have never experienced any serious accident apart from the pasenger side droping into a small ditch once
3) Is it my camber? It doesn't look faulty and my rubbers are not that bad.
4) Is there anything like a long or short cup for the extension ( pasenger) side? Thinking I may just purchase I shaft that has a long cup.
Please i really need help with my 2008 Accord (4cl)
 possible scenarios.
1. turning angle biased to One side. Solution Re-center the steering.
2. Vehicle was involved in Front Impact previously and initial C.V rods where modified. Contact computerglobal for a Vin report to rule that out.

mayor2013: We have a Toyota 4runner 2007(V6). 1GRFE with the following fault errors pulled out from the pcm
1) P0016- crankshaft position-camshaft position correlation (bank1 sensor a)
2) P0022- camshaft position 'a'- timing over ratarded(bank2)
3) p0012- camshaft position 'a'- timing over-retarded (bank1)
4)P0456- evaporative emission control system leak detected (very small leak)
Symptoms exhibited by vehicle:
1) oil light flickers 2) so much internal engine noise 3) sluggish movement
Diagnosis:
** Since oil light flickers, an oil pressure tester would be used to determine oil pressure from the oil pump using an OTC oil pressure tester. After this is done a comparison would be drawn based on what the manufacturer recommends
N.b oil pump is an internal part within the engine a lot of sludge and worn our bearings
Engine comes down.
Following to see what happens next.

OgaKazeem: Gazzuzz please i need your help with a diagnosis. Been doing little tune ups and maintenance on a 2001 toyota camry. Since the time i can remember, whenever I check the output voltage on from the upstream O2 sensor I have always gotten a reading of 3.xx V. However, checking online I saw that the normal voltage shoud be between 0.1V and 1.0V at worse. Yesterday i got another O2 sensor just to confim, i got the same reading. Now the crazy thing is when i disconected the O2 sensor. Check engine light came on (P1135 error code or so)... funny thing is ECM was still reporting reading of 3.xx V even while the sensor was disconnected. Pls how do I resolve this? seems you are having some daunting issues here
Sorry iv been carried away with the rebuild repair - thread and I skipped this.
The 3.3 volts is a PCM generated representative voltage. It is not the actual output reading. That would be in milliamps. It will stay relatively steady as long as the mixture does not change rapidly.
An oxygen sensor will typically generate up to about 0.9 volts when the fuel mixture is rich and there is little unburned oxygen in the exhaust. When the mixture is lean, the sensor's output voltage will drop down to about 0.1 volts. ...
use a more advanced diagnostic equipment to see all the voltage readings.
Hope clear now? |

Otenzy: Evening oga Gazzuzz. This Toyota corolla 2006 bank type I bought from someone uses water in the radiator. The fan works occasionally, I guess the thermostat is intact. Is it okay to switch to coolant now? Also, the previous owner didn't have a particular Brand of engine oil. What is the best one to go for in this circumstance? I intent changing the Transmission fluid too, it's manual. Any recommendations? Thanks again mileage of car would be nice, also change to coolant, and stick with 20w50 engine oil and drain and refil every 3-5000km max. |

thebigkendo: From my understanding, they dismantled engine & Identified defective parts.. So warranties covers the whole engine.. Well as long as no abuse.
So now the question is "what is definition of abuse"
Modified Team replacement also warrantee engine.. As long as mobil 1 is used to service it.. Am sure some other conditions will also void team replace warrantee.
Bros Gazzuzz assuming i buy that your clean 40k miles 2az-fe with 1 year warrantee on mobil 1 AFS diet...after about 2 months for Abj - Kaduna express, on a Friday few hour to Friday prayers I come race one Malo guy driving a Brabus with 6.3-liter twin-turbo V12 ..........we know the outcome Will my warrantee be void? Will you replace the engine They said i should not talk, I have ban my self till tomorrow. |

radautoworks: Then offer the customer both options. Let them pick. And your quality control is limited as far as you luck upon a good engine in your estimation. Ours isn't.
Fact of the matter is once we do a repair/rebuild, if three months go by without incident, it's going years. There you Go with assumptions. Why do you feel we don't repair engines?
we do all the time IF we weigh the options and feel client will get a better deal LONGTERM.
You had to shut down major engine and transmission repairs for one month because the Boss will be unavailable, now imagine what happens when you have 30 of those jobs thrown at you in 1 day.
Certain jobs will require a Full rebuild (sludge related jobs and thrown rods)
Some will just require a new piston (hydrolock), some will just require a new camshaft (BMW)
Not every engine should be scrapped. But when the wrong engine is in the car already what do you do?

radautoworks: Which you really get to inspect after you buy it and take it apart.
I think you keep forgetting that we are a franchise and part of that means only using approved channels for parts. I told you in the past that if a customer wanted to us to use their parts, it's not a problem but they would have no warranty. I'm not sure why having such stringent quality control is an issue for you.
With us opening 10 stores across the country that will back each other's warranty, you really think Milex is going to let each store run amok getting parts wherever they so please?
When you find an engine supplier that can consistently prove preference of his engines and pass Milex's supplier requirements and quality control while providing warranties, we'll be more than happy to consider that supplier being added to the approved list.
I've said it many times, use what you want, will use what we want. Over time, we'll see what happens We are looking out for the client long term, 1 branch, 1 quality control manager, this method works for us too.
for this engine client will get 1year warranty and I will sleep well at night.
Engine will live a good life. |

radautoworks: You do know that Carfax will only show repairs done by major dealerships or insurance companies who report it right? a tokumbor 09 camry will enter naija at Between 100,000-160,000miles and we will clap for the car dealer.
This is a maximum of 40,000 miles and oil was changed regularly based on the innards of the engine. |

now this is funny Wanted to argue out some points..but I gave up.
MODIFIED Am very sure team rebuild will never import a corolla engine because Ladipo = 180k, import by self probably = 350k minus Labour engine oil, coolant and other consumables. A land rover puma engine maybe Roll Royce engine.. Maybe
But not Toyota or Honda engine weh full everywhere at far cheaper price The 2017/18 2GR-FE would you buy or rebuild? 1.5m
this is a clear case of team repair.

Kashif: Easy, easy, easy.... calling out Radautoworks and Gazzuzz especially
I would advise you both post no more here, as it is getting a little personal.
Now, there is a difference between a repair and a rebuild. When you replace few components like was done on the Corolla in discuss, it should not be called a rebuild. Rebuild and repair do not have same warranty, because you can only warranty the replaced part.
If a full rebuild is carried out, the warranty should not be less than a year.
Most times, a Tech's marketing capacity plays a critical role in swaying the customer's decision. If I can get higher warranty on replacement than a repair or rebuild at same cost, I will go with replacement.
Both approaches come with considerable analysis before deciding. Know when to repair, rebuild or replace.
Peace. The only reason I responded is because of the TITLE of this Thread.
A replacement is holistic
A Rebuild is holistic. While a repair is partial.
Comparing a replacement to a repair is sacrilegious |
