Thanks for the Op that created this thread ..I am on the verge of paying for a Kia Rio (2014) Model today , even though it’s Nigerian used with a mileage of about 68,000km .aesthetically , the car is clean but I am still skeptical about purchasing this vehicle .. on the other hand , I got another deal at about the same price with a Toyota Corola 2010 Model ( Made in South Africa) with a mileage of about 200,000 .

I am so confused as to which to go for between the two vehicles .

Thanks for your reply Guru. I replaced the 2 at the back. I later got the car scanned and got these codes:

P0141 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 2)
P0136 oxygen sensor circuit (bank 1 sensor 2)
P0141 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1 sensor 2)

C0200 right front wheel sensor signal malfunction
C0205 left front wheel speed sensor signal malfunction
C0210 right rear wheel sensor malfunction
C0210 left rear wheel speed sensor signal malfunction

He then sent this quotes which I think is outrageous

Rear differential 50k
Landa sensor 9k
Exhaust pot
Brrak pot 5k
Break lining 7k
Brake lining cylinder
Lower arm bunching 6k
Tie and socket 10k
Stablizer bunching 4k
Front shocks and absorber 45k

That engine has been worked on.

the 'loudness' is most likely due to the aftermath of the 'valve grinding'

the valve grinding itself is not the issue here, but the interchanging of all the valve shims when reassembly of the top cylinder.

the valve train is now louder than usual as all valve clearances are most likely out of spec.
This is the part where i hate the 2AZ-fe engine! ( God bless the k24 abeg)

The vibration is may be most likely caused by the replacement piston assembly/ out of phase balance shaft during reassembly (they fit don commot am sef )

This might be a problem cos if that engine was from a 2007-up vehicle, the piston/ piston ring design is usually different from the earlier 2az engines, in that the one from an earlier one was used to rebuild that engine(due to easier availability)
The implication is that the one from earlier models are slightly smaller in length (depth). and even in diameter. this might cause the vibration and may even cause piston slap when engine is cold.


btw, is there any knocking/rattling noise present at either low or high rpms?

Post the vin number riveted to the engine block so that we may know the donor vehicle it came out from( but i no trust ladipo boys o )

My Lexus Rx 300 makes some tapping/clicking noise right from the engine with significant increase in fuel consumption with personal obd2 scan I got four codes P1155 ,p1351, P1135,P0330 help please mechanic says engine is bad and would need change want to be sure before this car is dissected help please help!

My Toyota matrix 04 is making some homing sound at the back when on 40mph, the noise starts out very faint and becomes louder when get to about 80mph +. I just changed the hubs still the problem persist. What could be problem sir.

I just changed my Camry 2007 engine. However, I've discovered that the new tokunbo engine does not run smoothly. Somebody asked whether they used the diagnosis machine on it after it was fixed but I said no. My question:

Is this a common occurrence after a change of engine? How can this be solved please?

After you disconnected your intake air hose. Look at the value your getting on your LTFT(25%). Don't you fink that value is too significant compared to when your intake air hose is connected. Outside of this you never showed us values while driving car was just on a stationery platform.

increasing engine rev will mimic driving. But im sure you already knew that

A problem actually becomes a problem when it involves close relatives. Gazzuzz if we continue with this “this is not London” mentally then I believe we have a long way to go.

Imagine a very tired Uber driving sleeping behind wheels and swerving off his lane to hit to death one of your love ones, does that sound a UK thing to you. I don’t think we should jest about things that affect our lives, our leaders see how jestful and unserious we are and are giving us the treatment we deserve.

Working above 100hrs weekly is almost 3 times more than what should be legally allowed (40-50hrs weekly is legal), as a matter of fact drivers on Uber who drive 6hrs straight should be paid for 8hrs by Uber. Still wondering what kind of government we have in place with no directives and regulations just because they want to attract foreign investors who don’t give a sh..t about them.

This is putting the lives of other road users in danger. I will send a letter to the ministry of transportation citing good examples around the world...no driver should be put in this sickening conditions.
