Dear all, I parked my Toyota Camry 2007 and traveled for a period of two weeks. When I returned and used the car, I noticed it was not accelerating. It goes on reverse and drives, but dose not accelerate no matter how I throttle. I consulted a mechanic who said it could be bad oil or blocked filter. I changed the oil and cleaned the filter, yet the issue was not resolved. I then decided to do diagnosis after which this code was generated: P0798, pls may someone help me decode this and advice on how and where I can get this sorted out in Port Harcourt Thanks!

Generally speaking, in Nigeria _we buy cars based on; RECOMMENDATION, PERCEPTION, AFFORDABILITY, RESALE VALUE, FUEL ECONOMY , AVAILABILITY OF ITS AUTO-MECHANICS & SPARE PARTS, etc. Mazda doesn't tick all the checklist, but Toyota and Honda has offered us that and more(on a platter). It would take a whole lot for any other brand to topple their total market share.

Japanese cars are mass produced, they target every segment of the market, by age, gender, disposable income, etc. Their cars are also highly user friendly, welcoming to DIYs _ everyone can own and care for one. Unlike mazda cars that seems to be for enthusiasts, sadly the average Nigerian car owner isn't one.

We owned a 626 way back, when we sold that car _ it was like, we won the war against Haman. Please don't ask me why.

In a nutshell, I really don't think they're underrated, I think they're paying the price for not being mainstream plus the sins of their forefathers (older models).

Hi Gazzuzz,

I do hear a rattling sound from engine/driver side at low revs (below 2K) and also at top speed (120KM/hr and above) especially under load like going uphill.

It comes and goes as if it has a mind of it's own. I have changed spark plugs, cleaned EGR valve, checked heat shield underneath car, bad catalyst replaced (P0420) to no avail.

No codes when scanned repeatedly. Car idles smoothly and no rattling when driven fast at WOT.

Please advise. Vehicle is 2007 Honda Accord with 98K miles.

Hi Gazzuzz,

Recently got an 2004 Highlander and on delivery it was discovered that the Catalyst was removed.

The Check lights, VSC and TracOff were on so I took it for a scan and the P0420 Bank 1 and P0430 Bank 2 were gotten.

Now the technician is saying there are 2 catalyst missing/faulty, one close to the engine and the other beneath the car. He says it would cost 60k to fix both.

What do you advice ?

I just bought a HONDA EOD 2003 and the previous owner has been using SAE 40 oil for the engine and any kind of ATF for the transmission. I was advised by my mechanic not to use the recommended 5W 20 oil for the engine because of the mileage and it would be too much for the engine to handle at this point. He suggested Castrol GTX 20W/50. I also need advise as to ATF for the transmission. Can I use Oando's Dexron II? Or Honda DW 1 ATF? Please advice me.
