i drive a 1998 volkwagen auto mk3, noticed recently that my gear does not change to gear 2 until i rev my engine to around 4000rpm.
Did a scan which showed faulty gear and vehicle speed sensors..what can i do ? i stay in ile-ife

Greetings Sirs.

I am in a bit of dilemma concerning the engine mounts on my '03 Accord LX.

I noticed some chassis vibration, which I diagnosed as torn engine mounts.

On removal and visual inspection, the rear engine mount, right and upper transmission mounts were torn.

I replaced all with new mounts, including the lower transmission mounts.

However, I noticed that the new REAR mount was not an exact fit. Only 3 of the 4 foot bolt holes aligned. So, I had to use only those 3.
(PS: The rear mount I bought was precisely meant for i4, not V6).

The vibration reduced but never went away completely, especially when using a/c and at a stop with gear in 'D'. Vibration disappears under same condition if I shift to 'N'.

I have a feeling I didn't buy good engine mounts ab-initio, even though they were 'new'.

Vibration seems to be worsening now.

Do I source for Toks engine mounts OR order OEM mounts (last resort)

What would you advise I do, if I must eliminate this vibration completely?

Large Front and rear mounts are usually the vibration culprits, the do not necessarily have to be torn to be bad, most times the vibration is caused when the rubber part has compressed beyond its normal height and now the metal part is resting on the hard side of the mount, (more like metal resting on metal) In cases like this, when you detach front and rear mounts, you will see markings of the top of the mount from the aluminum brackets from the engine.

GAZZUZZ Pls I have a slight challenge with my corolla 2009 model each time am on high speed (120km) and I apply brake the car tend to shift to the right side. I almost had an accident because of it.i have change the brake holes still no improvement. Pls help out.

Check lower control arms (bushings and ball joints)

Also ensure front tyres are same height.

He actually turned it facing up, in line with the dot on the base of the ebgine

You said all that was done was to replace timing belt and car did not start right? Ask mech to open timing cover again and take a pic of the pulsar plate.

Timing belt are always enclosed.

They are replaced on an interval basis. E.G 70,000km or 4years which ever comes first.

When purchasing a car, if you do not know the last time your timing belt was replaced, please Replace and have you own records.

If I can get one landed and registered for around N2m - N2.5m, then I think it's worth it. Because I think rather than making money from excessive wear and tear, the car earns by reduced petrol costs.
