Greetings gurus. Pls recently my car (toyota camry pencil light automatic) broke down and refused to move. On putting it on drive or reverse, it makes a clanking sound. my mechanic said it was the gearbox, which I changed immediately. But after changing the gearbox, I have noticed the car refuses to accelerate beyond 80km /hr. I was told to clean d gearbox filter which I have done bt no improvement. Wat could be the problem? Ur advice really needed.

That's the irony of it . . .
In purchase; you have a guarantee that you are purchasing a non-faulty engine.
In rebuild, you are at the mercy of future problems that will start creeping in after the rebuild

Dear Gazzuz....thanks for your assistance thus far....the Hyundai Elantra 08 is an interference engine and also uses a timimg belt...that scares me...cos any snap of the belts,the engine is destroyed.

Rebuild it! If you can get a Mech that is good enough. I can assist with guidelines. I just rebuilt a honda engine. What's the problem with the crankshaft? I suspect half-truths from your Mech. Thanks again to Gazzuzz for the encouragement to rebuild my engine.... Luvinhubby... Ironheart and co. It was a very exciting endeavour.

With new ones? Engine purchase is mostly black market. In rebuild you know what exactly you are putting together.

My 08 Honda accord engine broke down few days ago, it won't start anymore. Towed it to my mechanic's workshop and after working on the engine he said I'd have to buy a new engine because the crankshaft and the crane shaft are already bad. (don't know what this means though). Earlier today someone suggested rebuilding it instead of going for a new one. Please what can you advise I do?. (Location = Akure)

boss, still on the p0420 code, I had a panel beater drop the cat converter for assessment, the cat wasn't blocked. So I had it re-fixed. I scanned, cleared codes afterwards but after driving for few miles, the code returned

How much do you get the gas now compared to petrol. i will still say that petrol is far better in every ramification. Coupled with the factit elongates the life span of any engine using it.

Truly it will reduce drastically the demand for forex used in importing pms and Co. The issue here is that govt of the day isn't willing to promote the idea. More so the current operators if CNG is trying to make it look like one Elite car club. I'll blame it on their unwillingness to actually set up shop across Nigeria. If it's not Lagos, then forget it.
