Please gurus in the house I need ur advise before I go on a wild goose chase. My Honda accord 03 has issues sometimes going uphill. Although it doesn't occur frequently but sometimes it can be embarrassing trying to climb a hill and ur car suddenly starts dragging. Car drives smoothly and gear changes easily when in motion. A mechanic friend said it might be the gear sensor since the car drives smoothly. I believe nairaland gurus than most mechanics. Abeg oga Gazuz and Co pls help a bro here.

I had a knocked engine some months back, the mechanic that fix it didn't get it right as the engine oil light keep show which was before the engine knock. Now another mechanic is telling me that he can fix it, that he is going to change the block engine and some other things in the engine. My doubt is that can he get it perfect, work normal and last long, without making me frequenting mechanic garage. The opinion of mechanics in the house and those that had same experience in the past will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

I'm not very Familiar with the electronics of that vehicle, but when the coolant temp of a vehicle exceeds it's safe limits, the fan will come on and stay on until it drops to friendly values . Now in most cars (Japanese and korean) if the coolant temp exceeds normal limits and the ignition is turned off, fans will stop spinning, but other vehicles like (peugeot) will keep the fans running until temp drops to about 90degrees centigrade.

Summary, your coolant temp is exceeding normal values, have it checked sir.

*Vtech actuators filters might be clogged
*timing might be off by a few degrees.
*Vtech actuator might be faulty.

If your mechanic can understand what I have quoted, you have no problem, if he cannot, run run run...

gazzuzz, my Ac matter don tire me. like u rightly guessed, my compressor was weak. I changed it. while changing it, we discovered it has already started wearing itself out and had deposited the black fluid in the lines and condenser. while flushing the lines and condenser, plastic particles (apparently stripped from one of the Ac lines) was shooting out of the condenser. a decision was made to replace the condenser with a new one.
so a tokunbo compressor was installed, some suspect hoses replaced, all hoses flushed, evaporator flushed (in situ with expansion valve). the expansion valve and evaporator were not pulled out but were flushed with a vulcanizers machine while in place. (its a nightmare to loosen the dashboard of the Octavia to get to the evaporator).
however after this fix, Ac worked well for only three days and packed up again. I checked the low pressure line for gas and the black goo came out again. meaning the compressor has worn itself out again after 3 days!. its costing me a fortune to fix this Ac. what do you advise as the way forward?

I didnt have this noise until i changed belt tensioner. What can we do to savage this? i can't afford a new engine now. I know some CRV come with K20A engine
