I used to respect that man a lot. His words were always on point. From his days in Patito's gang to his time at The Guardian, I always thought he was one of the few incorruptible ones we had. It pains me how he's sold his conscience. He used to be on the side of the Nigerian populace, now he's with her oppressors because of what he'll eat.

I believed in him so much that when they appointed him and my friends were skeptical, I told them he must have agreed to take the post on the condition that they would give him a free hand to say the truth always. How naive of me.

I guess it's true what Abraham Lincoln said: Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.
Indeed. That Abati initially engaged his job of being a glorified liar with gusto is all the proof anyone needs that the man's pretensions to integrity was a carefully contrived scam.

@OP

Abati, ultimately, has shown himself to be another charlatan rather than an enduringly principled man. If he had been offered a political appointment then it would somewhat be understandable if he accepted and framed it in the "call to national service" context. Accepting to be a glorified mouthpiece and lying 'spin doctor' for an ultra-corrupt government, openly practicing everything Abati had previously preached against, is a measure of how highly unprincipled Abati is in reality.

HNosegbe: Hmmm... Isn't it funny how scanty threads like this are, while threads about Tonto Dikeh hit 10 pages?

NL is a reflection of Nigeria: We (most of us) chase after frivolities, we are easily distracted, we lack the ability to think deeply about issues, we have pitifully short memories, and worst of all, we are cowardly. We love our immediate comfort too much to make sacrifices for a better tomorrow.

That's why we keep sharing Abuja money every month: it's simply too convenient, and we're too lazy to think of alternatives.

Nigeria is poor, because Nigerians are mentally poor.
Gamji007: The traffic on this thread shows how much Nigerians lack the interlectual capacity to contribute into issues of national importance. And unfortunately, the interlectually deficient ones find their ways into leadership positions.
You are both correct. Look at the inane thread about boobs below and you will appreciate we have some intellectually maladjusted children here. This is a political forum. For how troubled our nation is, is it asking too much that this forum be an arena of ideas instead of a place hosting salacious and sleazy talk of boobs et al?

As HNosegbe concludes, NL is indeed a reflection of the issues of Nigeria causing our stagnation.

Virtually every State in Nigeria, contrary to popular feudal pontification, is inherently rich and potentially able to sustain itself adequately if leadership, especially at the centre, is innovative and idea-driven. Below is Nasarawa State and interested Nairalanders can read on from the link provided:

http://www.nasarawastatenigeria.com/?p=31

Nasarawa State has been appropriately tagged as “Nigeria’s Home of Solid Minerals”. The State is one of the most naturally endowed states in Nigeria in terms of the availability of economically and commercially viable natural resources. Indeed each of the 13 Local Government Areas in the State is uniquely blessed with one form of Solid Mineral deposit or the other which can be sold in the local and international markets.
Below is a distribution of the Solid Minerals and their industrial application.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria's 'Wealth' Is Over-rated by Gbawe:
modicum: How "rich" is Nigeria compared to Angola if the former with a population of 160m people produces 2.3m bpd of Oil while Angola with a population of less than 20m produces 1.9m bpd? And how rich are both Nations compared to UAE that produces 3m bpd with a population of 7.9m?

I have often debated that "the wealth of Nigeria" is over-dramatized; and this seems to be an error committed by both Civil Society as well as the Politicians. So how really wealthy is Nigeria vis-a-vis providing for the needs of the Nation and considering the way everyone loves to say "they are chopping our money?"
@OP.

If Nigeria was optimally led, then oil income would literally be supplementary 'Chicken change' given our Natural endowment that puts us ahead of virtually all nations on earth in terms of untapped wealth. This is why some of us want leadership sincerity. That consideration matters greatly so that we may see Nigeria develop optimally rather than what obtains now whereby essential solutions are ignore or tainted with cynicism. look below, for example, at Ondo State with the second largest Bitumen deposit in the world:

http://www.ondostatemoi.gov.ng/node/70

Mineral Based Investment Opportunities
Ondo State, like several other states in Nigeria, is well endowed with various mineral resources of economic and excellent quality. Unfortunately, however, over ninety- five percent of these minerals are unexploited and unutilized.

General Information
Ondo State is underlain by two major rock groups: The basement complex of precambrian age (3,000m.y-500 m.y.) and sedimentary rocks of Cretaceous to recent age (120million years present ).the basement complex underlies the northern part of the state and is made up of three groups of rocks, namely the migmatite gneiss complex; the met sediment and the older granites. The southern parts of the is underlain by sedimentary rocks, consisting of sands, sand stone, shale, clay and limestone. Two group of mineral exist in Ondo State; on-metallic mineral and mineral fuels. on-metallic minerals(industrial minerals)occur extensively throughout the state while mineral fuel, such as coal lignite and bitment exist within the sedimentary belt of the state around Agbabu, Okitipupa,Okeluse and Ute.

Natural Resources
Extensive fertile soil suitable for agriculture with sub-savannah forest suitable for cattle grazing in the northern fringes. Vast forest resources, variety of timber species e.g. Teak, Gmelina, Mansonia etc. Ondo State is the largest producer of Cocoa in Nigeria, other cash crops grown in the state include Rubber, Cashew, kolanut, Oil palm etc.

Please tell us what has happened to the Ribadu report. You have no shame. Did you, Billyonaire, Taharqa, lostpope, Maxymilliano, Frank-C et al not argue about "white paper" and other deceitful garbage when some of us told you blatantly that GEJ and Allison-Madueke had cynically used Ribadu's reputation for their own agenda of deceit? Some of us stated that nothing would be done about the Ribadu report because GEJ is not a sincere person and deceit is totally in his character. Instead you all sycophantically rounded on Ribadu. Abeg who is right today given how your messiah has thrown the report, like many before it, in the garbage bin?

Sane and truthful folks know that many of GEJ's cynical conduct show he is capable of anything. This is a President, along with his petroleum minister, who carried out massive fraud against his own Nation, in the form of the fuel subsidy scam, to gain an election 'war chest' and you are here blabbing. Instead of prosecuting offenders ASAP, he is busy sending out Otedola to play James Bond same as Orasanye carried out the Nollywood show of shame, right in front of GEJ, to discredit the Ribadu report.

Is this not the same President using an unneeded new creation (PDP Governors forum) headed by Akpabio to frustrate Amaechi with the argument that Ameachi must be removed as chairman NGF since zonal equity means Amaechi should make way for a Governor not from the SS because the region already had Akpabio as chairman of PGF i.e PDP Governor's forum? Alam's condemnable pardon Nko which only you supported here? Mr. Newby, do you remember GEJ cynically making Gbenga daniel his SW campaign coordinator at precisely the same time GEJ should have come down hard on OGD for the lgislative impeachement gansterism the former Ogun Governor was instigating? Remember Teslim Folarin miraculously acquited of a murder charge and flown straight to Abuja , courtesy of the President, to deliver delegate votes to Mr.President? Abi you want more examples of the cynical opportunism of your messiah? New low ko new hole ni. You have no shame and need to get lost with your fake shock. Issuance of oil bloc licenses is a privilege the law empower the President to execute. To have the will is one thing but to execute it is another thing.
Dr Abati has been a baggage to this administration. He is a reactive person. He seem to think that his job is more to respond than to define. There is no reason on earth to call this an embarrassment because if the administration did not want to be 'embarrassed', they would have appointed a Fani Kayode to head the committee. Yes, for those who don't understand how government runs, reports are meant to be harmonized because the assignment is given with a perspective in mind but my problem with this particular one is that Abati is trying to chatsize the leakage. This should be played out big time. I need to see the end, but if anybody is covering up something, i need to see the person roasted. And for Abati, this reactive release has eroded lots of confidence and he should be replaced. He seem not to be speaking for Nigerians or the Presidency but for some other interests.
And as usual, your disgraceful companion saying we are spreading "propaganda" because we said GEJ's government is corrupt and nothing would come of the Ribadu report. Who can be correctly accused of spreading "propaganda" today in the light of the binning of the Ribadu report, the pardon of corrupt Alams, the Maina affair et al? This is what you people do. Insult others who speak the truth while you deal in lies. GEJ keeps disgracing you lot with new lows and you keep showing up here to insult those who called it correctly. Bro, I tell you none of these people are trust worthy. Very few of them seem to be outstanding, who prefers integrity and dignity over millions of dollars. One of them is Soyinka. As for Falana lipsrsealed
Well, I would personally be disappointed if Falana becomes an Abati because even as they had social criticism in common, Falana is the one, like Gani Fawehinmi, who has walked the walk while we have traditionally had many like Abati who only gained their reputation via talking the talk. I think Falana has only gone to politely hear what GEJ has to say even as I am certain Mr.President's intentions are most certainly dubious given his 2015 "do or die" fixation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Femi_Falana

Mr Falana is renowned for providing free legal services to the poor and disadvantaged, he has been detained numerous times by the security services for his activism. He has won numerous awards locally and internationally for his activism.
Personally, if I were to hazard a guess, I would say desperate and opportunistic GEJ may want to 'cash in' on Falana's dedication to seeing OBJ jailed. Team GEJ has decided that "GEJ for 2015" can only be achieved with all "enemies" taken out so GEJ is unchallenged. Different plans will be devised for each "enemy" be it Amaechi, OBJ or Aliyu. GEJ may just want to recruit a passionate and dedicated man for his own parochial agenda same as he used Ribadu to save face after anger against his fuel subsidy removal that provoked the riot. The plan may be to draft Falana in and cower OBJ. If this is the case, let us hope Falana has the sense to refrain from tainting his good name via joining a sinking ship.

Obasanjo will go to jail – Falana

JUNE 13, 2012 BY TUNDE ODESOLA, OSOGBO

Lagos lawyer, Femi Falana, has predicted that former President Olusegun Obasanjo will go to jail if the eight-year tenure of the latter is investigated.

Falana spoke on Tuesday at an event organised by Osun State civil society coalition in commemoration of June 12, 1993 presidential election.

He said, “If President Hosni Mubarak could go to jail and other corrupt leaders in Asia and North Africa, it is a pointer that former President Obasanjo will go to jail.”

Falana said Obasanjo was richer when he ended his presidential tenure than when he assumed presidency, stressing the need to probe the former helmsman.

Ordinarily, every courteous and mature person should honour invitation to meet the leader of his nation. Tinubu meets with GEJ despite criticising him non-stop. Ribadu actually worked for GEJ while Buhari is at National functions regularly with GEJ and has stated that he does not rule out the possibility of working with Jonathan if Mr.President is sincere. Falana visiting GEJ is therefore no big deal. These men are not sworn enemies even if they disagree with each other on issues concerning the leadership of Nigeria. Many actually get on well privately despite what we think here.

If all these outstanding governors are gone is there any hope for Nigeria again? cry
My dear lady do not worry. Evolution, if nothing else, will defeat the PDP. There has been PDP-like gangs in the history of most nations of the world. GEJ, whatever happens, will be the last accidental President the nation has if we survive beyond 2015. The entire world has documented how governance for the PDP is entirely about the sharing of the national cake by a few individuals.

It has to be said that not all PDP leaders buy into this notion totally. Some actually perform well. Yet majority are classic PDP men (like OBJ, David Mark and GEJ) totally dedicated to what the PDP believes in as core "existential" policy. When these men are the sort who make it to the Presidency, then conflict with leaders who believe in giving back, like those you listed, is inevitable.

Very slow in Nigeria's case but the people will always grow sophisticated enough to demand a fairer deal and better calibre of leaders.

All doubts were removed when Allison-Madueke openly and unethically compromised the Ribadu-led petroleum task force by drafting two of Ribadu's colleagues on the task force into the board of the NNPC. I.e Oransaye and Otti. This was outright wrong because the NNPC was one of the Government agency that the task force had to probe. The Ribadu task force was reporting to Allison-Madueke as well and she has no logical reason at all for doing what she did. This would have earned Allison-Madueke a sack in 99.9% of the Nations of the world. Yet GEJ did absolutely nothing.

Tintinix: Too many allegations around this woman, either she is much hated or there are some truths in it!

But 59 trillion Naira oil deal , is 378 billion dollars oh!!

Is this not just sensationalizing a true but inaccurately reported oil deal?!
I agree with you. The figures are as they were submitted in the petition presented to the Senate by the leaders of the the oil-producing communities. They may indeed have 'embellished' a bit but the Senate should be able to verify and comment on the figures touted. Noteworthy that the Senate did not immediately query the figures submitted but they still left the door open as per the veracity of the claims from the community leaders : "We have seen the petition and if it is true, you definitely have a case".
.

A part of the petition reads: “We, members of the oil-producing communities, are compelled to bring to the notice of the National Assembly the manner and /or mode upon which the allocation of the oil mining leases were fraudulently allocated by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, the officials of the ministry and the SPDC. “Mr. Jide Omokore’s Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited neither tendered for, nor bided for the blocks.

By this deal, 60 per cent of NNDC’s 55 per cent stake of these assets is about five billion barrels, which when calculated with the 2013 crude oil benchmark comes to $380 billion or N58.9trillion. This figure is exclusive of the four trillion cubic feet (4TCF) of gas asset in the blocks valued at $15.72 trillion.

“The game behind this deal is brought sharply into focus by noting the fact that, on OML 26, 30, 34 and 42, Mrs Deiziani Allison-Madueke’s alleged no–bid approach via the so called “Strategic Alliance Agreement” fetched the Federation Account an upfront cash payment of little more than $50 million as initial entrance fee from Atlantic Energy, while SPDC’s open and competitive bidding process, though excluding indigenes of the area on the other hand, got $1.3 billion from Heritage Oil Plc, for its 45 per cent joint venture beneficial stake of the same block.

“Clearly, the true market value of the OML 30 assets divested to Atlantic Energy by NPDC, if the open and competitive bidding process mandated by Public Procurement Act had been followed, should not be any less than $800 million.

The said “Atlantic Energy Agreement” in OML 30 is annexed hereto.” Addressing the aggrieved communities who shut down all legislative activities in the National Assembly yesterday morning, Senate Deputy Majority Leader Abdul Ningi, assured the communities that the Upper Legislative Chamber would get to the root of the matter.

Over ambition is an obvious trait of megalonaniacs & absolute power, like Nigeria's presidency, in the hands of such persons will inevitably lead to gross abuse. A dull Goodluck is better than an abusive Rotimi.

The efficiency of any administration is not the product of it's head but by quality & efficiency of the composite team members of the administration.
GOOD LEADER + BAD TEAM = FAILURE
GOOD TEAM + BAD LEADER = AVERAGE SUCCESS

By the way, the Niger Delta people will prefer to lead under GEJ than to play second fiddle with Amaechi.
Thanks for the clarification but I still think your point does Amaechi a disservice. I don't wish to hold brief for him but I don't see how Rotimi Amaechi qualifies as a "megalomaniac" more than most of our politicians. Most of them are very arrogant people. Amaechi is just outspoken in my opinion whereas most are pretender who act meek and humble , like GEJ, till they get what they want.

Ultimately, GEJ should test his popularity democratically and let others do so. Your concluding utterance is rather baffling too. It is not about what the "Niger Delta people" want. It is about who political Parties democratically choose in the first place and also about what is best for all Nigeria. Democracy is still a game of numbers and GEJ knows the PDP, if that principle is respected, will reject him. That is why he is acting desperately everywhere in trying to ensure he emerges unchallenged. All these desperate shenanigans will probably still come to nothing in my opinion.

For me amechi has nothing to loose by falling out with gej.. He successfully served his 2 terms as a governor with an incredible results. Aspiring for a VP polical positions is a wonderful move and there is every likelihood that he will succeed considering the fickle nature of PDP recently.

He should identify himself with good and credible things and not the good for nothing GEJ that has nothing to offer the country.
My 2 cents
Correct. Also it is myopically wrong and self-destructive for our democracy that it is us average Nigerians speaking as if the President should be above the law and that he should be able to undemocratically truncate the legitimate ambitions of others. Amaechi indeed has nothing to lose and a lot to gain. His doggedness will be impressing many. GEJ should test his popularity democratically and give others the freedom to do so.

Our leaders may have done a 'job' on our minds but we ourselves need to be careful saying things that makes Nigeria look like a very 'dodgy' nation to the rest of the world. Newsflash my guy, "over ambitious" people lead many Nations of the world and successfully so for that matter.

badesco: Gov. Ameachi is too over ambitious and i hope he does not end up in a thrash can like others.
I am always confused by this utterance from Nigerians. When has legitimate ambition ever been a bad thing? When has trying to get as far as possible become a thing to frown upon? Is it a cultural thing to term determined people as "over ambitious"? I just don't get it. What has Amaechi done wrong?

As far as I am concerned, anybody who wants anything in life should feel free to go for it as long as they deploy legitimate means and stay within the law. I always prefer models and situations where people who deliberately seek something tend to be the ones who get it. Not what we have where a reluctant Yar Adua, heading back to the lecture room, was forced to come and lead Nigeria. Or how school teacher Shagari was made President with the help of a man (OBJ) who believed Awolowo to be "over ambitious" also. It is amazing how much like our leaders we are in mindset.

Even when we lampoon them daily here our utterances betray us as being similar to them in thinking. Since this Amaechi-GEJ brouhaha began, there is nothing we have not heard here on this forum with the likes of Insincere9gerian even outrightly suggesting that GEJ should use the EFCC to whip Amaechi and co in line. What is their crime and why do we say we are practising democracy if some will not be free to pursue their legitimate ambition? Meanwhile ambitious people are loved and supported in ambitious and progressive Nations.

eGuerrilla: Mirrors and imported whiskey it was 400 years ago. Crumbs, tunnelled through corrupt ministers, it is today!

I applaud the efforts made by the local communities thus far, to raise awareness about this subterranean sale of a people’s patrimony by an avaricious minority.

With facts that appear unassailable, let’s hope Nairalanders can look beyond partisan politics for once, and back this noble campaign for probity.

.
Same here. I am going to keep an eye on the response of the Senate. They have promised to resolve this within 30 days and it will be interesting to see if they are sincere since these community leaders appear rather determined.

Addressing the aggrieved communities who shut down all legislative activities in the National Assembly yesterday morning, Senate Deputy Majority Leader Abdul Ningi, assured the communities that the Upper Legislative Chamber would get to the root of the matter.

He begged the aggrieved communities to give the Senate one month to invite all parties and resolve the issue holistically. “It’s not only the Niger Deltans who feel the injustice meted out to Niger Deltans.

We have tried to take care of the host communities because they have suffered from the oil exploration activities in the Niger Delta. “We have seen the petition and if it is true, you definitely have a case.

mikijagga: Gbawe strongly spoke in support of Amaechi as though he really saw an angel. Is it not the Amaechi we know in Rivers State? Hmm...You have never seen arrogance!!

The idea of using the governor's forum for opposition to the FG is an aberration. That is not what the body was constituted for.
No, I don't hold Amaechi to be an angel. I stand to be corrected by citizens of his State but I was of the opinion that Amaechi has done well overall. Yet, that is not even my reasoning for speaking here. Amaechi has the right to run for any office he wants. It is not good for Nigeria for our Politics to be full of yes-men who run away the minute their superior says "boo". That is what will deliver dictators everywhere to leave us with "might is right" politics.

Amaechi stood up to OBJ to be Governor when OBJ was determined to deny him of that opportunity. It is therefore in character for Amaechi to stand up for his ambition of running for higher office in 2015. GEJ should simply embrace the idea of democratically testing his popularity instead of trying to bully everyone out of the way. Amaechi is not Sylva either. Many like him and will not be comfortable with GEJ's bullying of the man since everyone knows what is behind it.

What can they say? I think we are past the days when anyone can deny that Allison-Madueke is hideously corrupt. Good that, in this case, it is the affected oil-producing communities themselves who have complained and delivered a petition against her. What these people have done is laudable. Nigerians everywhere should key into it.

Whatever the truth, I like how the affected stakeholders have done the right thing by formally petitioning the legislative arm. Good also that the Senate has accepted their petition because I remember the upper house regularly insulting PIB agitators in the last republic.

Minister named in N59tr oil deal

Communities shut down N’Assembly as Senate intervenes

… Alison-Madueke not involved –Aide

From ADETUTU FOLASADE-KOYI, Abuja

Five aggrieved oil-producing communities in Delta State yesterday shut down the National Assembly over allegations that Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke and Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) Limited were involved in a N58.9 trillion shady oil deal.

Besides, the oil communities declared that Nigeria would lose four trillion cubic feet of gas asset worth $15.72 trillion.

Already, the Senate has summoned top management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to explain their alleged involvement in the deal.

The five oil-producing communities and their leaders protesting the illegal deal are: Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality (led by Chief Emami Ayiri); Ijaw Ethnic Nationality (Chief Aribogha Johnny); Urhobo Ethnic Nationality (Olorogun Jaro Egbo), Isoko Ethnic Nationality Zino Onaemor); and Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality (Emmanuel Orwti).

The communities accused the minister of having secretly transferred production rights in four large oil blocks (OMLs 26, 30, 34, and 42) to Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited, allegedly owned by Mr. Jide Omokore.

They also claimed that the deal was perfected “two days before President Goodluck Jonathan dissolved the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in 2011…”

In a petition presented to Senate President David Mark and Speaker Aminu Tambuwal yesterday, the communities alleged that there was “deliberate exclusion of indigenous rights to preemption and/ or first refusal and breach of open and competitive bidding on the four oil blocks.”

They demanded an outright cancellation of “the on-going hand-over of OML 4, 26, 30, 34, 38, 41 and 42 to Atlantic Energy and Septa Energy” and that the deal “be put on hold pending the determination of the issues raised in the petition.” The communities demanded an investigation of the abuse of due process by the National Assembly.

Besides, the petitioners accused the SPDC of active participation in the fraudulent allocation to unqualified contractors.

This is the first time we are seeing this maladministration if this petition is true. Please, give us 30 days instead of the two weeks asked from lawmakers.”

Minority Whip Ganiyu Solomon echoed Ningi’s request for 30 days to carry out a “comprehensive investigation into these allegations” while the Chairman of the Petroleum Upstream Committee, Senator Emmanuel Paulker, assured the protesters that the new Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) is already addressing the problems.

“The PIB is dealing with most of the problems you are talking about. I know the oil wells very well on paper, that is, the OML 30 and co. Next week, the Upstream Committee will invite your representatives and officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to come and address these accusations.” Leaders of the communities agreed with the intervention package outlined by the National Assembly on the matter.

Reacting to the demonstration, the minister’s media aide, Mr Kelvin Alonso, confirmed that her principal was actually aware of the protest by youths at the National Assembly.

He denied the minister’s involvement in a N59 trillion oil deal with the SPDC. Mr Alonso, however, declined to speak further as he insisted that he must get the details from Alison-Madueke before making any comment. He said though he could get the minister’s position on the allegations later in the night since he was yet to contact her for comments.

“Yes, we are aware and the minister is also aware of the development this afternoon at the National Assembly. But I can only get any comment or reaction from her when I am able to meet with her.

At the moment, she is in a meeting and I can’t access her”, Alonso said. He promised to get back to our correspondent in two hours time, but could not, at the time of filing this report.

What is wrong with you? OP has simply delivered an article with appropriate links in compliance with all forum rules. Why on earth do you round on him with insults? You are the only "daft" person here and a waste-of-space to boot. If you doubt the veracity of the article then say so, as you are entitled to do, and refrain from insulting the OP.

@Topic.

Many in the PDP, certainly the OBJ camp, have long made it known they favour a Lamido-Amaechi ticket. It is therefore not exactly strange to believe Amaechi is reiterating this. We all know GEJ is trying to cower Amaechi. Amaechi is a resolute and mentally tough character as well - certainly more so than many Nigerian Politicians. This may be his way of telling team GEJ that he is unbowed and still chasing his ambition.

amuaee: Story, even as GEJ be president, wetin we wey frm Niger DElta de benefit, ds oil wey dem de talk abt, u don taste d money b4.personally I ll neva vote for GEJ again
Someone who sees clearly. These leaders have simply perfected the art of ethnic/sectional/religious sabre-rattling they know only the average Nigerians take seriously. Tomorrow they are all living large together and eating 10 million Naira food in one sitting with their concubines from every ethnic group.

Has GEJ not been President for 3 years now? Of what benefit has his Presidency and the "uninterrupted" flow of oil been to the ND and even Nigeria at large? If anything the elite and billionaire class, connected to government corruption and largesse, are growing under this man.

We get charlatan here lying that Nigeria is heading towards Paradise and claiming people should come home when the leaders of your Country are doing the opposite with actions that show they do not believe in Nigeria. Those who are honest and work with facts see through the fraud of GEJ and his crude cronies.

Under GEJ, only the Politician and those connected with Government are getting stupendously rich, buying jets and getting morbidly obese. I even got contextual confirmation of this yesterday from the UK Daily Star newspaper that shows less British students are attending Private schools yet Russians (27% increase) and followed by Nigerians (16% increase) are making up the shortfall nicely for the UK Private schools and economy.

Tomorrow some fools will come here talking about Nigeria is improving when informed observers know the Nations wealth is being plundered by a few who are now, in record number, using this slush fund to maintain the wives and children abroad.

They lead the nation yet show their lack of faith in Nigeria via secretly stashing their families abroad at great costs while the mumus at home, entrenched in hideous poverty, are fighting about "our oil".

Bigots and fools should remain here shouting "our oil" and "Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani thieves" as if they or even ordinary Yoruba/Hausa/Fulani Nigerians are deriving any benefit from oil. Some day, perhaps when 6 feet under, some folks will realise it is not about "our oil" but about the rich and the poor, the connected and the nobodies, the privileged and the spat-upon, the performers to be supported by all (whatever ethnic group they are from) and the mediocre waste of space to be rejected by all(from all ethnic groups), the elites "owners of Nigeria" (from every ethnic group) and the "nonentities" (from every ethnic group) who are viewed as dispensable and can continue to die like flies for all the system cares.

RUSHIN’ TO POSH SCHOOLS

25th April 2013 By Daily Star reporter
PRIVATE schools are relying on overseas pupils to fill gaps as the number of British students falls.

Russian pupils at the UK’s fee-paying schools, where charges average £14,000 a year, have increased by 27% in the past year.

The number of Nigerians studying at the schools is up 16% while Chinese rose by 5%.

But the total of homegrown British pupils fell by around 0.4%, according to the latest census by the Independent Schools Council.

ijaw citizen: I no really know where e for dey pain these Yoruba and northerners, No President has ever worked as hard or achieved as much as Jonathan under 3 years and no president has ever faced the magnitude of problems he is tackling right now.
Everything is about blaming "Yoruba and Northerners" for people like you. You back GEJ blindly and claim he has challenges yet you never, at no point, ever acknowledge, even when this is crystal clear, that he is a very poor leader deliberately failing to tackle our major problem and even wilfully worsening some.

Please spare us this lie the likes of Insincer9gerian peddle daily because they assume people here are not intelligent enough to debunk their ridiculous propaganda. Do you know Nigeria's most fundamental problems that virtually all top economic analysts have identified worldwide repeatedly and warned we will never make progress unless they are tackled? Can you list them here and can you tell us GEJ's efforts towards tackling these problem?

Let me give you a clue. Do you know what Nigeria stands to gain refining her crude optimally? I.e the satisfaction of local demand and the possibility of substantial income from selling the refined derivatives of crude? What is GEJ's effort in that regard if not to worsen the problem conceding our refineries, for two years, into the most corrupt hands on earth i.e NNPC?

How about our unacceptably high cost of funding governance? Can you tell us what GEJ has done in this regard? I will tell you. Nada. He even stuck a finger up at Nigeria via stating "leaner government not possible".

WHat about aggressive efforts to move our economy away from a dependence on oil the world warns us must happen sooner rather than later? Do you see dedicated effort to support the commercial mining of valuable minerals we have across the nation?

How about corruption - especially institutional corruption (the most damaging by far) that is now a monster in the Kingdom of 'look-the-other-way' impunity GEJ has created?

Which Nation can thrive without security and optimally trained and empowered Government security agents? To that end where is the holistic and thorough reform of the Nigerian Police force that should be a top priority of any Government? Have you seen this badly needed reform any time in GEJ's 3 years in charge you now claim puts him at the top of the performance list?

Those few above are just the tip of the iceberg. If a serious person, identify other fundamental problems bedevilling Nigeria and let us see what GEJ is doing to address those problems to support, in my opinion, the stupendous lies from you that GEJ is "working hard". The man is only enriching himself and his cronies while deploying nauseating gradualism to fool a people brainwashed to worship and defend mediocrity. Prove here and now you know the major problems of Nigeria because I personally think most Nigerians don't know the greatest problems of Nigeria and they can thus never note when a leader is working or not. This is why an entire nation foolishly credited GEJ with "improvement in power" when issues were more about water levels and gas supply.

People like this Kuku are ultra-myopic beyond belief. Is it that they cannot see beyond 4 years, by hook or by crook, for GEJ when sagacious leaders worldwide see/plan 50 to even 100 years ahead? This blackmailing antics can never work. Some of us have known GEJ to be ultra-divisive but it is now obvious to the entire world what this crude man, and all he surrounds himself with, believes in.

"Why did you pardon Alams?" "So that oil can keep flowing". "Why do you think you should be President beyond 2015"? "So that oil can keep flowing. "Why are former militants and pseudo-militia groups getting maritime and oil pipe protection contracts when you have a functional Navy and can even constitute a specialist government unit to deal with this sensitive task?". "So that oil can keep flowing". "Why are you not going after those sponsoring terror against people you swore to protect since you have confessed to knowing these sponsors to include some you claim have infiltrated every level of your government?" "So that oil can keep flowing".

It is a shame GEJ and all around him, in their sheer selfishness and desperation to hold on to power, do not see the futility of threatening everyone and propping up GEJ as the "we will shut the oil tap" President. This mindset just shows a sinking and increasingly desperate Presidency bereft of ideas. Blackmail will only harden the resolve of many to ensure the crude GEJ is voted out as soon as possible.

figment232: Why are u so naive? cant u see Amaechi is drowning, all odds are against him. he will go d way of Timipre
Me naive? Let me ask, why are you so myopic? Where is Turai and Aondoakaa today? Did Turai and her gang not do all in their power to deny GEJ? You think there is not the same inevitable fate ahead for GEJ with how he is acting like Turai in trying to shut down the avenues of democracy others are entitled to use in seeking constitutionally assured ambitions?

Have I told you that Jonathan cannot get his way in the short term? It is what will happen to GEJ, Ameachi and Dickson in the end my talk is based on. Mark my word, GEJ will become an ordinary citizen in the future and the system will only remember a crude opportunist, divisive bully and hypocrite oppressing others the way Turai and co oppressed him. The likes of Dickson will be treated like lepers same as Yar Adua's boys have now gone underground.

Even very wicked men like OBJ have now learnt it is probably better to assist opinionated men like Amaechi, Ribadu, Fashola, Duke et al because you know where those characters stand. It will also not be lost on political stakeholder as well that this experience of vesting power in so-called "humble men" and reclusive leaders, whose career show they stand for nothing, is a recipe for disaster for everyone. That is why it is an archaic and unfavoured model worldwide. GEJ is the "drowning man" not Ameachi. You just cannot appreciate that because of a short term outlook. Let us keep watching.
