Its a very common saying that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. But truely there's more to the saying than is always meant. Primarily, I see a relationship between beauty and the beholder. It is what the beholder can see that determines his/her evaluation. What the beholder can see depends on the quality of his/her sight (insight inclusive), how much he sees also depends on how long he looks (time) and how close (the closer, the clearer). It is not just about the "object" (what we see) but also the "subject" (the beholder). However, beauty has been defined as combination of qualities that make something (or somebody) pleasing and impressive to look at, listen to, touch, smell, or taste. It is clear from this that beauty is used to refer to combination of qualities and not just only one. Also, it can be inferred that beauty is more than just the qualities seen (with eyes), it includes the qualities that makes you want to be listened to and in short relate with. These qualities includes the obvious and the seemingly vague ones which stands to be more important. Among the obvious are good looks, carriage, interpersonal skills and others like composure etc. Are these insignificant? No! In fact, they are relevant and not negligible. One needs to look good; pleasant appearance including facial appearance, one needs to have good carriage and be able to compose oneself at all times, one needs to possess excellent interpersonal skill and relate well with people (well known and unfamiliar). These qualities can create opportunities, especially initial attraction and to some extent place one in good position to getting the best. Also, the seemingly vague but absolutely essential ones might not be immediately obvious at first sight/ meeting but they eventually have more say on an individual and "become more obvious than the obvious ones". To actually get the best it is important to have the combination the obvious and the seemingly vague qualities. Among these are comportment (one's manner and conduct), habit (one's routine, practice, obsession and preference), attitude (one's opinion, point of view, thought, feeling), and character (one's personality, quality, Spirit, disposition and integrity). These are what is referred to as inner beauty. Our habits influence our attitude which in turn make up our character; interestingly character has been used interchangably with the word "charm". It is the external and internal qualites that makes up beauty. Moreover, the beholder sees these qualities and attest to its beauty. But there is more to beholding than ordinarily seeing, it involves observing. When a beholder observes well, he sees the real qualities and can therefore judge. Observation involves paying attention carefully. It requires the ability to see and perceive (with eyes); the eyes seeing more than mere looks. Not a fan of any of the contestants though.. May the best player WIN |

'PEG'- an acronym for Pacey Educational Games had its Maiden edition of interschool competition at Lagos African Church Grammar School yesterday(27th May 2016) and it featured games like the Rubik's cube (I particularly love this), Scrabble, Chess, Monopoly, Ludo and Card games. There were 3 schools in attendance: Lagos African Church Grammar School (host), African Church Model College, and Destos Heights College... The facilitator(a nairalander) said in his speech that it was the beginning of things to come as the Second Edition will hold later this year with more schools being represented. As fun and entertaining as this may seem, it provides the opportunity for students to apply their lessons from the classroom to a real world situation.. The competition IMO is the best thing to happen to any student on Children's day.. lalastic.lala |

If a man slaps you today, he will slap you again ,if not soon, later he will, and there is every probability that soon the slap will not be enough, he will feel you have graduated from the first degree of being slapped, and maybe it doesn't pain you anymore, so he will initiate second degree. Hitting your back so hard you could fall and punching your face when you fall. When you graduate from that second degree, he will initiate third degree, most women never graduate from this one, he start kicking you and using harmful objects, so that you can bleed. Violence is a pattern of behavior, so is abuse, if you are careful enough, you will discover the pattern before you fall head over heels in love, if he is a violent man, he would have beaten someone in the past, sisters, mother, girlfriends, it can't be hard to find out if he is an abuser, or a potential abuser. Don't agree to marry him and say God will change him. Don't be the one that will be sacrificed for him to Change, don't be the one he will kill before God touches his heart. Trust me, God will be mad at you for throwing away the life He gave you in the name of love. Jesus didn't ask us to die for anyone, He already died for everyone, so your death will not make any difference, you are not as sinless as Jesus. Draw your ears well, most of such men change when they come in contact with women like them, who could beat a man back, if he lays a hand on her, she will not only retaliate, but will warn the man never in his life to lay hands on her . They say iron sharpens iron, not plastic sharpens iron. God bless this person that wrote for. For the married couples, if he occasionally threatens to throw you out of the house and abuses you emotionally, politely ask to leave for your father's house that night and push it to the latter. Only then will he ever come to his senses.. RIP to the dead |
