Yesterday I decided to go for inspection visit on second niger bridge site, I went through harbour industrial estate Onitsha. It's one of the the major industrial estates in Anambra State. Previously I do visit the industrial estate on Sundays, the second niger bridge site is not far from the estate.

I went yesterday being Saturday, I was marvelled by the number of trucks most especially from the north with raw materials to sale to the industries. They all line-up both sides of the roads. I decided to make enquiry from one of the the locals I saw, he told me that's how they come everyday except Sunday, that after selling the raw materials they load finished products and other goods from Onitsha markets back to north, I was so excited.

Christianity EtcRe: See 8 Most Controversial Issues In The Church Today by GBJakes(m): 12:38pm On Feb 02, 2020
IsraelOA:
What is the Christian view on gay marriage? Are spiritual gifts biblical? Can Christians drink alcohol? These are some of the topics that often cause heated controversy within the church today. Christians take very different opinions on these issues and both sides refer to Scripture to support their views. Discernment is certainly necessary, even among a group of believers in today's culture. Whatever your views on each of these topics, hopefully reading this list of the areas where the church often experiences division will encourage us as Christ-followers to strive for unity within our own churches and even across denominations, because although there is much division and controversy among the broader church, there are also core doctrines that unite us.

1. GAY MARRIAGE
Gay marriage and whether it should be allowed in the church is certainly at the top of the list of modern-day controversial subjects. One need not search current headlines for long to find evidence of this controversy.

This issue has caused division among many denominations. The Presbyterian Church (USA) supports it, while the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and others do not support it, for example.

But perhaps nowhere is the controversy surrounding this issue more prevalent than in the Anglican Church. In recent years (and even months), the Anglican Church has softened its stance toward gay marriage and gay priests, but there is still much oppostion. Some have called on the church to be more welcoming of LGBT individuals, some go so far as supporting gay clergy and granting them the rights to perform same-sex marriages, while others remain firmly committed to the traditional definition of marriage. The United Methodist Church is experiencing controversy over this issue. You can read more about it here.

2. ABORTION
At first, one might think this subject is not so controversial within the church as it is between those in the church and those without. However, as a recent Pew Research Center study shows, those who claim to be religious yet don't associate themselves with a particular denomination actually are mostly in favor of abortion, with only 17 percent opposing it.

Still, a majority of Christians are pro-life, but the subject remains a controversial one within the church, especially when it comes to the argument that pro-life should mean more than simply "pro-birth."

3. WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP
The issue of women teaching/preaching in church can quickly become heated. Again, more conservative denominations tend to be against women in leadership roles, while more liberal denominations tend to accept it.
Recently, there has been a particular crisis on this issue with the rise of Christian women bloggers. The online presence and followers these women have is substantial and has caused some within Christianity to question their authority, even though they are not preaching/teaching in a traditional church setting.

4. TYPE OF WORSHIP MUSIC
Contemporary or traditional? Hymns or modern worship songs? This is definitely an issue that tends to spark debate within many churches. It's often even a deciding factor when someone chooses a church to belong to. This issue also tends to divide believers between older and younger generations.

Even certain instruments can be controversial. A drum set might not be considered acceptable in some churches, while another church may have an entire praise band with a full range of instruments.

Some churches have attempted to resolve the controversy by using both traditional and contemporary songs intermixed during their worship services or even providing two different services--one more traditional and one more modern.

5. SPIRITUAL GIFTS
Although spiritual gifts are mentioned several times in the New Testament, different church denominations have different interpretations of what it truly means to have and use a spiritual gift.

The spiritual gift of speaking in tongues tends to be the most controversial of any spiritual gift. While Pentecostals fully affirm this spiritual gift, other denominations have gone so far as so say that speaking in tongues is offending the Holy Spirit.

Other Christians embrace spiritual gifts and even encourage congregants or church staffers to take spiritual gift tests to see where they are best equiped to serve.

6. BAPTISM
Although practically all churches practice baptism, baptism rituals in different denominations not only vary in practice but in theology. There has been a heated debate within the church for centuries on whether the Bible promotes infant or only believer baptism.

More liturgical churches even tend to give the impression that baptism is essential for salvation, while others don't seem to put a lot of weight on it. Some churches also baptize infants, but see it not as evidence of salvation, but rather as a commitment by the child's family and church body to bring up the child in the fear of the Lord. In this way, an infant baptism is more like a dedication of the child.

Still other churches only baptize those who are old enough to make a profession of faith of their own free will.

Chrisitans also have opinions on how and where baptisms should take place--by sprinkling of water, by pouring water on someone, or by full immersion.

7. POLITICS FROM THE PULPIT
Should ministers talk about politics or endorse a specific political party or view from the pulpit?

Churchgoers have very different views on the subject, but the controversy isn't confined to the church. Several months ago, President Trump signed an executive order ceasing enforcement of the Johnson Amendment, which prohibited a church, as a nonprofit entity, from endorsing and promoting a particular political party or candidate. Many championed the executive order, saying that it gave churches more religious freedom, but others maintained that siding with a certain political party is not something a church should be doing.

8. ALCOHOL
Can Christians drink alcohol? This question opens up all kinds of debate within the church. Many churchgoers believe Christians should completely stay away from alcohol, bars, and anything that has to do with drinking since the Bible condemns drunkenness and instructs Christ-followers to be sober-minded.

Other churchgoers, however, believe that consuming alcohol in moderation is not a sin. These Christians often argue their point from 1 Corinthians 8 in which the Apostle Paul says to "Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak." Many take this to mean, by the context surrounding it, that drinking alcohol is permitted, but Christians should be careful not to cause someone who is prone to alcohol abuse or someone who believes it is a sin, to stumble in his/her faith by seeing another Christian drinking.

A church's views on alcohol can even be seen sometimes in the worship service; some churches use grape juice for Communion, while others use wine.

Lake Chad basin oil prospect... a funny rat race.

US already stationed a base close by in Niger to see how to seize the brent crude oil.

France backed Chad are silently in that territory.

Northern Elites don't want to acknoledge the discovery of lake chad basin brent crude oil so that it wont become Nigerian property like that of SouthSouth.

Middle east intrest group are also heavily arming local Terrorist to dislodge Nigerian locals, mostly kanuris from the area in hope of an islamic country controling it..

Buhari strategically place NNPC in the hands of kanuris and northeast so that they can keep secretly developing their Oil facility using the cover of $25million oil exploration.

Some Dunce down south thinks its a religious war so they continue supporting the Northern Oil War with Southern Oil resources.

Wake up Guys no one goes to war without a promise of control of resources, Iraq, Syria and Libya is a conflict of who controls Oil resources... same as Boko.haram war and Biafra.war... its simply Oil, Oil, and more Oil and the.International countries are only sponsoring with Arms and weapon who.they favor to win.

I always believe that this Boko thing has something in connection to the lake chad basin oil discovery...

Recall we reported that the Mexican knocked out Anthony Joshua in the 7th round, to inflict his first defeat and win the IBF, WBA and WBO titles. When he was knocked down in the third round, he appeared on the verge of losing as routinely as Joshua’s previous 22 opponents, but he immediately responded with two knockdowns that left Joshua fortunate to survive. On the occasion of the defending champion’s US debut, at New York’s revered Madison Square Garden, he was dethroned as the world’s leading heavyweight by a significant underdog who took advantage of becoming a late-notice opponent to secure a life-changing win.

PoliticsRe: Minimum Wage: We Can’t Pay N24, 000 – NGF by GBJakes(m): 10:42am On Oct 19, 2018
mrakeli62:
Industrial crisis appears imminent as governors have announced that they would not be able to afford the agreed national minimum wage.

Governors under the aegis of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), who met on Wednesday night in Abuja, said though they were not against the upward review of the national minimum wage, they lacked the ability to pay the proposed N24,000.

Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige had last week told reporters that while Labour unions were demanding N30,000 per month, Federal Government proposed N24,000 and state governors N20,000.

However, it is doubtful if the leadership of the labour unions would accept the N24, 000, which they claimed was “unilaterally” adopted by the Federal Government.

Indication to that effect emerged as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has summoned an emergency meeting for next week to take a decision.

Chairman of NGF and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, who briefed journalists on the outcome of the meeting, disclosed that the governors also met with the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, who briefed them on how many states complied with the agreement signed to clear salary arrears.

According to him, the issue was not just on agreed figure to be paid by the governors, but the “ability or resources to take care of that agreed minimum wage.”

Asked whether the issue of minimum wage was part of the agenda of the meeting, Yari said: “We didn’t discuss minimum wage because that is in the hands of the Federal Government, because it is on the Exclusive List. But like we said, we can do minimum wage on any amount we need but the issue is the ability to pay the minimum wage agreed. In the last meeting which the minister of Labour attended with the negotiation committee and also the committee that we also set up, we made it clear that we are not against the upward review of salary, we are in tandem with the NLC to get the minimum wage reviewed but the problem we are having is the capacity to pay what is agreed.

“As at today, most of the states are struggling to pay the N18,000 minimum wage. Some states are paying between 35 to 50 percent of the minimum wage and some states are owing salary. Ifwesaywearegoingtodo anupward reviewof the minimum wage, it is not about only reviewing it but how we are going to get the resources to cater for it.”

On the Paris Club refund which the Federal Government disbursed to states on the condition that they use larger percentage of the money to pay workers’ salaries, Yari said while some states had recorded some progress in line with the condition they signed with the Federal Government, others were still owing arrears

“We invited the national president of NLC to give us details on how some states performed. Some other states that are not up to date, where are they?

“So they have signed Memorandum of Understanding with the NLC at the national level and their representative in states on when they are going to overcome the issue of salary arrears.

“That has been done and it has been taken to the Central Bank (of Nigeria) governor to ensure that those states were also paid.”

However, the National Economic Council (NEC), which met yesterday failed to discuss the issue of a new national minimum wage despite threat by workers to embark on an indefinite strike.

According to Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar who briefed the press, “the issue of minimum wage was not discussed at NEC today.”

“Unfortunately that was not discussed at the National Economic Council meeting. Secondly, governors are part and parcel of the negotiation. The governors have not taken a decision either way because its a negotiating process and it’s still ongoing. We are represented by six governors in the committee. It’s a work in progress and am sure we will get to the promised land,” he stated.

On Wednesday, General Secretary of NLC, Peter Ozo-Esan, told an online media that the committee set up by the workers’ union had adopted (through a motion) to recommend N30,000 as minimum wage. According to him, the motion was moved and seconded by members from the labour union and the employers’ representatives.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on October 10 after Federal Executive Council meeting had refuted media reports quoting Wabba as saying that the tripartite committee discussing the demand for new minimum wage had agreed to increase it from the current N19,200 to N30,000.

“Such information is not true,” he said.

Ozo-Esan insisted that the tripartite committee adopted a figure and “that is the only relevant thing in the issue.

“If Ngige is manufacturing something that was not agreed at the table, that is his problem. We have called our organs for an emergency meeting that will hold next week and the next step will be taken from there,” he said.

National President of United Labour Congress (ULC), Joe Ajaero, on October 16, said labour would not sign any agreement with the Federal Government on new national minimum wage if it was below N30,000.

NLC which had initially demanded a N50,000 minimum wage for workers, called out workers on a one week warning strike a fortnight ago.

Truth be told, governors r the problem of this country. The wage bill they r claiming r all lies and unfiltreted by their ghost workers. They prefer awarding outrageous and unimportant contract than paying salaries. Na only God go help us!

I was thinking out loud the other day... With 5 million Naira. The government can build a small 2 bedroom apartment in a small town. N250 million can build 50 of these, and with approx. 194 billion Naira, we can build 50 2 bedroom units in each local government in the federation. Replicate this for 4 years and you must have solved housing problems for approximately 155,000 Nigerians. If this is done for consecutive 10 years, 372,000 families might have benefited from the plan and the issue of housing would start to become history. Government can issue houses on a 15 year mortgage plan with beneficiaries paying approximately 28,000 monthly.

hopefulLandlord:
After independence, in order to build a great nation, each country went to work. But in Nigeria, after independence, our people went to pray and fast. So, while we were praying, Malaysia came here and took our palm seedlings and built a great factory of it. While we were praying, Singapore went into investment in technology. While we were praying, India went into ICT. While we were praying, China went to massive industrialization. While we were shouting Allah Alakuba! UAE went into massive infrastructural development. While we were binding and casting Lucifer, Japan went into technological development. While we were speaking in tongues, Denmark went into education of her citizens. While we were mounting big speakers in our places of worship, USA was mounting man on the moon.

After our prayers, God, being a wise God decided to reward us according to our labour. Since those that went into industrialization, technology, infrastructural development, ICT, education etc have been rewarded accordingly. It's only wise God rewards us with our efforts in prayers. That's why today, Nigerian pastors are competing in building the biggest churches.

That's why there are more prayer houses and worship places than hospitals and schools. That's why people rush to prayer houses for medical and business solutions instead of hospitals. That's why we don't do business proposals before jumping into business since we are going to back it up with prayers. And when it collapse, we blame devil. That's why it's a sin to say anything negative about pastors and imams. That's why our pastors don't consider the opinion of engineers while building and blame devil when building collapse. That's why faith in God replaces building pillars and when it collapse we blame it on Lucifer. That's why our pastors are making sure they plant church branches instead of schools in every streets in Nigeria. That's why we always wait for gods to do that which ability to accomplish we already have in us. That's why we want our teachers to labour on earth and go to heaven for their rewards. Nigeria is a prayer loving, god fearing nation. Religion has taken the place of technology, infrastructure, education and all. When we are traveling, we ignore all the necessary road requirements, servicing of our vehicles and pray. And, once we pray, we can put a half fit vehicle on the road and blame our step mother or mother in law if anything goes wrong. That's why there are more people dying on our roads. Because, we pray and fast and leave everything to God when we have all we need to survive and build a nation....... I hope it made sense to you
U r very 100℅ right..... Religion has kill us in Nigeria, God is the first human capacity builder but I wonder where we came up with our own concept of worship, is really a pity! I hate religion, it mks us to beautify our worship places instead of our nation and worst of all it mks us to hate, kill and divides us instead of building a united Nation.... #Stopreligion&buildanewnigeria
