But deep down you're assured that this moment can't just pass you by. "Heey!," they said to you, "Don't risk thinking about this job because venality is the dictate of the day," so that the 'work out' isn't gonna favour any damn dreg of the society.

Now you're testy, grumpy and shattered. You sorted after a veneer of hope amidst fellow 'combatants' and reassured yourself that you're gonna make it. Suddenly, you realized that your sanguine nature may not be the way forward. Like a drunken monkey, another thought meander your mind: "Draw nearer to your Maker, He will help you." Well, this isn't a bad option at all. You just forgot that when the Anointed met Peter, what ensued was the blessing and then the mortal man cried out aloud, "Depart from me Lord for I am a sinner." Your sanctimonious nature won't deceive God. Righteous works are good and a desideratum for a work with the Holy One. But that doesn't mean His gracious arms aren't stretched to you at all. Quit that dubious nature and be opened to receive from God: salvation, peace, rest of mind, NNPC APL, wife/husband/child(ren) etc.

The theory of multiple logins is indeed a discomfiting one. Many is our number who fall victim (perhaps be so as profess by madam HR) of not using the portal as a means of information. I would choose fully funded PhD in a top 5 US school over NNPC.

It opens better opportunities. PhD in a top school is highly coveted in the international job market. My friend that did his PhD, also fully funded, in a Top 20 US school got Shell US job almost immediately after finishing.

Whoever tells you to turn down a fully funded PhD offer from say Stanford University in lieu of NNPC GT offer needs to explain his reason. There's actually no reason I can think of. I suspect the person thinks the only opportunity that would be available to you after the PhD is a lecturing position but on the contrary several companies are after well grounded graduates of these schools. Think of the research internships in various companies you'll be exposed to while undergoing this degree.

There are great jobs that await you after this degree that would pay you as much as $150k(approx 54m) per annum as a start so even after you factor in cost of living and tax, NNPC's offer is still a long way from there, you can't get this salary even after 5 years in NNPC as long as you don't rest on your oars while studying.

Then there's also the added perk of venture capitalist willing to partner with you in any startup idea you think of. Just because you have these schools in your profile. We are talking of millions of dollars in investment funds here.

you can proceed on an education leave after you've been confirmed. it's no fast rule, similarly, as far as i know, you'll only be entitled to an official leave, after your confirmation.

You wouldn't feel the urge ro proceed on official leave, it's a Govt. work, less stress et al.

A fully funded PhD in any ivy league institution beats whatever NNPC offers.. IMHO, even a fully funded masters beats whatever NNPC offers...

Lol why should this be a tough decision to make. Like do you know what a top 5 US institution is: MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Caltech, UC Berkeley etc. FFS this is a no brainer. I know someone that turned down shell offer some years back and went for masters in one of these schools, he is a big boy in the US now. Heck I might even turn down NNPC for masters in a top 20 US school with full funding especially when it is a STEM course or even Economics.

I'm pretty sure you'll want to believe me that I know the heck top 5 that I mentioned. Or is it you that mentioned it? Well, you've done well with your advice. Just that some people told me otherwise also.

P.S: in the schools you mentioned, are what I mean getting a PhD in Chemical Engineering (fully funded assistantship).

I had a dream night. Didn’t go to church today. So let me share it here with my brethrens.

Last night. I saw myself in an environment like a law court.

I saw a man with files in his front desk.
I noticed he was distracted by something I don’t know.
I went to his desk and started to cancel alot of things in one of the files. Names, numbers and so on.
He later turned to me and never said a word.
He only collected the pen black marker from me .

I was then happy.

Then I was in a car and a big luxury bus drove past and parked.
Me and some other people started entering .
And the ones that entered with me are new recruited colleagues.
We were heading for training and we were reminded to make sure the wee are with our documents .
