Fake Story.
That is not Warri.
1) Bikes are not allowed in Warri, especially in that Robinson Plaza part of town
2) Those buildings don't look familiar at all. I've spent over 20 years in Warri!

Politics / The African Story by geezzzyy(m): 3:36pm On Jan 22, 2016
Source: https://aganbigare.com
*Seventy-five percent of the world’s poorest countries are located in Africa.

*According to Gallup World, in 2013, the 10 countries with the highest proportion of residents living in extreme poverty were all in sub-Saharan Africa. Extreme poverty is defined as living on $1.25 or less a day. In 2010, 414 million people were living in extreme poverty across sub-Saharan Africa. According to the World Bank, those living on $1.25-a-day accounted for 48.5 percent of the population in that region in 2010.

*Approximately one in three people living in sub-Saharan Africa are undernourished. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations estimated that 239 million people (around 30 percent of the population) in sub-Saharan Africa were hungry in 2010. This is the highest percentage of any region in the world. In addition, the U.N. Millennium Project reported that over 40 percent of all Africans are unable to regularly obtain sufficient food.

For a continent blessed with abundance of natural resources, arguably the most blessed continent in the world, the above data is shocking.
For years, I have wondered why Africa is so far behind other continents in terms of development and technological know how. I have wondered why we have terrible leaders and irresponsible citizens. So often, as much as I hate to admit it, I am ashamed of being African.
If I was white, I would probably have been very racist. I would never have understood how a certain group of people just find it impossible to think and create a civilized society. The west has donated hundreds of billions of dollars in aid to Africa, most of which as been misappropriated by corrupt officials and leaders. This is the African story.

Big global organizations have made tonnes of cash, exploiting this black continent. From oil companies like shell to mining companies to leather and coffee companies. They get raw materials from Africa at outrageously cheap prices, with little care about the impact of their processes on our environment; then export them to more developed countries outside Africa where they are processed and exported back to Africa for the few very rich people to purchase and flaunt with.

Wicked multinationals! They do not care about us. But on a second thought, why should they? It is not their responsibility to care for us. We are supposed to care for ourselves, we are supposed to set standards and regulate their operations and processes. We are supposed to innovate, manufacture and refine our products here in Africa. But we do not. We do not care about what happens to the rest of the continent as long as we are getting some bribe money. No amount is enough, so we will steal until we run out of room to keep the stolen money. This is the African story.
Nigeria is a typical example of the African irony. A country termed the giant of Africa. Blessed with fossil fuels, solid minerals and diverse agricultural products; one would expect Nigeria to be a global power expecially considering the large work force the country posseses.
However, for over fifty five years of independence, the country has shuffled one bad leader to the next. Corruption is the national theme, every sector of Government is saddled with corruption. Billions of dollars get missing like car keys. Progress has been slow, laudable milestones are few and far between. This is the African story.

Why is this? Are we incapable of thinking? Are we incapable of leading? What happened to our conscience? Has the hot sun damaged some brain cells? Did Christianity come too late to Africa? Or maybe it’s the mosquitoes, they probably affected us some how.
I write with a deep sense of grieve. Grieve which has turned into anger. Anger which turned to hope. Hope that a new breed of leaders will arise in Africa. Leaders that are brave and selfless. Hope that Africans will love and care for Africa. Hope that my generation will rewrite the African story.

Well.. I don't agree with Times.
Shekau is influential, yes. But Oby and Adichie, I'm not so sure.

Influence is the ability to make people do something they'll usually not do on their own.
If Oby tells Nigerians for example to boycott road transportation or something similar, nobody will take her seriously.
But if Oga Jonah tells his followers the same thing, bus transportation will cease for the given time.. If Jonathan didn't accept defeat, we could have had a taste of how influential he is.. Thank God he did.. The taste for sour..

Jesus said 'woe to you if all men speak good of you'.. (Paraphrased)..

Pastor Chris I love you. I'm not surprised many people are speaking I'll of you.. They don't know you and they don't know God.. It was the same way many Jews spoke I'll of Jesus.. All true servants of God MUST be persecuted...

I'm not a Christ embassy member.. I've never attended your Church.. But I got your messages when I was in 200L, my life has never been the same since then.. God has used you to bless me mightily... You are a man sent from God..

Sir.. Have you asked yourself why other South Western, Yoruba dominated States are not as developed as Lagos?

Here is why:
1) Lagos was previously the capital city of Nigeria.. Hence, the first set of multi national companies had their head quarters in Lagos. And oil revenue in the 70's and 80's was concentrated to the development of Lagos.

2) The Apapa sea port: Hence, the first set of imported products were brought to Lagos.. Note that these early importers where Igbos and southerners like Ibru..

Now that we know that Lagos was not developed solely by the effort of Yorubas.. How dare you come here and insult Igbos and blame them for all the ills in Lagos.. They are not Saints but we have a lot to thank them for.. Stop this tribalism..

LordExecutioner:

A sane and civilized thriving cosmopolitan city is a city where there's law and order, and things are highly regulated to the highest standards. Look at New York, Paris, California, Rome, Shanghai, Hong Kong et al. Those are civilized societies in which Lagos should be modeled after.

Now let's take a cursory look at why Igbos are deeply against Lagos being like those cities, despite the fact that, they contribute little or nothing to the Lagos treasury (Lagos makes most of its money from big companies/multinationals, banks, seaports, airport etc..), apart from constitute nuisance everywhere with substandard products, crime, rituals, illegal shops and trading, prostitution, piracy etc,. Igbos can't thrive in a civilized society.

Igbos are pests we need to rid off Lagos to create a better, sane, and civilized cosmopolitan city. They're a nuisance that create chaos and destroy everything they touch. Hence development has been elusive to Igboland. Igbo dominated markets in Lagos are also the dirtiest crime infested markets in the state. It is high time we put an end to all these for a better Lagos.

Operation kick Igbos out of Lagos; QUALITY over QUANTITY.

I and my team came up with an idea that has the potential to disrupt a big industry/sector in Nigeria.
We've done our market analysis, feasibility studies and all that 'serere'.. The potential is really huge.

But the problem is lack of funding.. I don't know why it's difficult for tech startups in Nigeria to access investments.. Sadly, great ideas are dying daily because of this..

Business / Re: How To Create Wealth As Real Estate Entrepreneur by geezzzyy(m): 7:44pm On Apr 02, 2015
I'm really interested.
I read sometime ago how many Australian and American entrepreneurs became multi millionaires with no start up capital. They basically got loans from banks and made wise real estate investments. In a few months the value of their properties sky rocketed and they made a killing..

The problem here in Nigeria is that our banks request for double digit interest rates. Doing real estate with bank loans in Nigeria is very risky because the appreciation of your properties might not be able to beat the outrageous double digit interest rate.
Moreover, how many banks in Nigeria will give you better loan wen you no get assets like Dangote.

But there is potential in this sector sha..Expecially if you are interested in flipping.. We bought a piece of land in Warri in 2012 for 900k. Today people are begging to buy it for 9M. I'm not exaggerating!

My dad told me if the militants rise up, I should take my sisters to Ghana and start a new life there. He warned me not to join any stupid Niger Deltan that'll want to disturb Buhari's regime.

Don't get me wrong, I am pro GEJ.. I believe he has been unduly critized and antagonised by many Nigerians.. However, men like Asari and Tompolo are our real enemies. They are only concerned about their pockets. The Niger Delta has been greatly cheated, I agree. Especially when you consider the environmental impact of the oil spills. But I believe love is the answer, not war. We should unite to rebuild this country. North, South, East and West. We are one.
I told my dad that I won't go to Ghana. God bless Nigeria.

Politics / Re: We Lack The Capacity To Prevent Corruption In Nigeria – Okonjo-Iweala by geezzzyy(m): 3:22pm On Feb 18, 2015
God bless you.

ogene007:

Your type are worse than the Almajiris in the north in that you don't know, and don't want to know. The only thing you know is to go on social media to advertise your ignorance in the form of moronic comments. The erudite Prof has hit the nail on the head by stating that we do not have the minimum systems and processes to tackle corruption as is being done in other countries.

The APC have up till now decided not accept that the freedom of information law applies to them or even domesticate it if they insist that it is on the concurrent list, despite the rulings of various high courts to the contrary. This has made it nearly impossible for the public to access information on the looting going on at the state level, just as we are accessing information as to what is happening at the federal level. Is it not an irony that the APC are the ones singing about 'change'? I guess that one of the first thing they will do if they get into power is to water down the FOI law, or scrap it altogether so as to protect themselves from public scrutiny.

There is presently before the national assembly, the asset forfeiture bill that has been gathering dust since 2010, which will go a long way in ensuring that people do not benefit from loot of any kind. The law bill stipulates that any asset traced to you would be confiscated by the government if you are unable to prove how you earned it. It seeks to transfer the burden of proof from the government to the accused making it cheaper and faster for the prosecution of corruption cases. In addition to the passage of this bill, there is the need to amend the constitution, removing immunity from prosecution on corruption cases for the president and all the governors, a special court to handle corruption cases, a new evidence act to ensure that computer print out of bank account statements of can be tendered in court to also ease the difficulties in prosecuting corruption cases etc.

The combination of the FOI law and the asset forfeiture law will definitely be a game changer in the fight against corruption. Infact, it will make political office unattractive because a corrupt politician will not get away with corruption. These are the basic minimum systems and processes existing in the US, UK, even South Africa.

So, when Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is saying that Nigeria presently does not have these systems/processes to effectively fight corruption, she is absolutely correct and people who are clueless about this issue should just shut up. Beyond going on the social media to post "Sai Buhari", you guys should ask the relevant questions as to how Buhari wants to prosecute the so-called anti-corruption war if voted into power, operating within the legal confines of the extant laws of the land.

It is pertinent to note that a lot of the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), who presently are part of the so-called progressives like Wole Olanipekun and co, have become specialists in defending politicians accused of corruption in court. They have perfected the art, in collusion with some corrupt judges, in getting adjournments after adjournments of corruption cases to ensure that EFCC gets tired of prosecuting cases over so many years without even the court looking into the main substance of the cases. In some of these cases, the defense counsel will be contesting jurisdiction for as many years as possible. How do you expect the government to continue to pay its prosecution lawyers for close to ten years just to get a conviction that may never happen. Out of frustration, EFCC would then end up settling for the plea bargain option which is basically allows the thief to go home with more than 80% of his loot.

In summary, nigeria must restructure if she must move forward because the corrupt national assembly becomes bipartisan when it comes to protecting itself from anti-corruption agencies. They have become so powerful that the only way in ensuring that the asset forfeiture bill is immediately passed into law is a mass action from the nigerian people, demanding that these systems and processes are immediately put in place. This is beyond all the noise making by the self appointed APC "change agents" who we all know are as corrupt, it not more than the PDP.
