The Special Adviser for Drainage and Water Resources to Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu of Lagos, Joe Igbokwe says the immediate past First Lady of Anambra, Ebelechukwu Obiano, “got what she wanted” in her scuffle with Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

Quest Times reports that after Professor Charles Soludo was sworn in as the new governor of Anambra in the wee hours of Thursday, Ebelechukwu walked to where Bianca was seated, and immediately, both women engaged themselves in a fisticuff.

The unfortunate spectacle drew the attention of security agents and some personalities who pulled Mrs Obiano off the hold of Bianca.

“See the shame. Mrs Obiano went to confront and abuse Bianca Ojukwu, and she got what she wanted. A big lesson to all,” Igbokwe, an indigene of Nnewi in Anambra, wrote on his known Facebook page, with an accompanying video of the incident.

CrimeShe Died A Virgin: The Untold Story Of Bamise, Her Death & Last Moments by Gemid94(op): 11:59pm On Mar 15, 2022
In a quest to unravel the mysteries surrounding the death of 22-year-old Oluwabamise Anyawola, Quest Times x-rayed the last moments of the late fashion designer.

Bamise, who was kidnapped on February 26 in a Lagos Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and later found dead, had since attracted public outcry with many Nigerians calling for the prosecution of all the perpetrators of the barbaric act.

Recall Lagos Police Command arrested the driver of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) where the 22-year-old Bamise Ayanwole went missing and later charged him to court for trial.

Quest Times earlier reported the BRT driver Andrew Nice Ominnikoron was arraigned before Yaba Magistrate Court on Friday, March 14, where he was ordered to be detained in Ikoyi correctional centre pending the next hearing slated for April 11.

“That you Andrew Nice Ominnikoron ‘M’ and others still at large, on the 26 day of February 2022 at about 2000hrs, along Ajah – Oshodi Expressway Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, whilst on duty as a BRT driver within the metropolis with BRT bus code number 257, did forcefully have sexual intercourse with Late Ayanwole Oluwabamise ‘F’ Aged 22yrs (Now Deceased) and thereafter, pushed her out of the moving BRT Bus, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015,” the charge sheet reads in part.

My last moments with Bamise — Brother

Pelumi (on black top), Bamise’s elder brother. Photo by Arogbonlo Israel

Pelumi Anyawola, the elder brother of late Bamise told Quest Times about his last experience with the deceased before her death.

“We grew up in Agege, a place where we fend for ourselves. The last time I took a dime from my parents was in 1992. Since then, have been fending for myself. I did hawk on the streets of Lagos. We’re from a family that is known for honesty and transparency.

“We grew up among the rough people but thank God for education that has brought us this way.

“Bamise called me like a week before the incident that she was coming to my house. She was my best friend and also my confidante. I discuss virtually everything with her even those things I hardly tell other members of the family.

“She was aware my wife was due for delivery, and she was preparing to be present at the naming. She had even sent me a name for the child. It was the name she sent me on January 22 that I christened my son.

“So, she wanted to make a surprise. Her colleagues told me she had sown the cloth she wants my wife to put on at the naming ceremony. She also sew my son’s cloth.

“I believed she was coming with these materials (before the incident happened) because she had told her colleagues she wants to stay with my wife until she delivers,” Pelumi recounted his last moment with Bamise.

“Bamise was full of life. She was a pride to womanhood (sighs). At that age, she was a virgin, raped by the murderous killer who is an employee of Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL).

“You (referring to the killer) murdered an angel, the joy of the family, took away our pride (cries),” he added.

PoliticsMC Oluomo Dares Sanwo-olu, Orders His Men Back To Lagos Roads by Gemid94(op):
In a dramatic turn of events, the suspended National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Lagos Chapter, Musiliu Akinsanya, alias MC Oluomo has reportedly ordered the disbanded members of the union to “disregard any Patrol Policemen parading themselves in order to disrupt their operations”.

Recall the Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s government denied appointing the suspended Lagos NURTW chairman, as head of the motor parks and garages across the State.

It also said it had yet to set up a committee to “immediately control” the parks and as such, it would be out of place to claim that anyone had been appointed as the chairman.

However, in a viral WhatsApp message forwarded to Quest Times on Monday, MC Oluomo was quoted to have ordered his men back to Lagos parks while urging them to reach out to him should there be any distruption of their work by the Nigeria Police.

Politics2023: Why Osinbajo Won’t Contest Against Tinubu — APC Chieftain by Gemid94(op): 11:34pm On Mar 13, 2022
A close confidant of President Muhammadu Buhari and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Abu Ibrahim believes Vice President Yemi Osinbajo won’t be contesting against Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2023 presidential race.

On the possibility of any other southern aspirant making it impossible for Tinubu to achieve his dreams, Ibrahim said no politician can stand against Tinubu.

He specifically pointed out that Tinubu is a benefactor to both Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, hence both of them won’t want to rock the boat by contesting against the APC National Leader in 2023

Politics‘Who Have We Offended?’ Kogi Health Workers Decry Percentage Salary by Gemid94(op): 11:23pm On Mar 12, 2022
Primary healthcare workers across the 21 local government areas of Kogi State have threatened to down tools if their demand for improved salary was not met by the State Government.

The State Secretary, Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria, MHWUN, Comrade Rose Momoh disclosed this in a statement signed on Saturday.

The primary healthcare workers in the Local Government have been collecting 30 to 35 percent salaries for the past two years under the Yahaya Bello-led administration, she noted.

Politics2023: Percentage Salary Won’t Take You To Aso Rock, Journalist To Yahaya Bello by Gemid94(op): 10:47pm On Mar 11, 2022
A Kogi-born journalist cum good governance advocate, Arogbonlo Israel has called out the State Governor, Yahaya Bello over what he described as a “lack of empathy and nonchalant attitude of the governor towards workers welfare”, especially in terms of payment of salaries.

In a statement he personally signed Friday, the award-winning journalist alleged the workers are fairly treated in the State, the Local Government workers in particular.

“Since the emergence of Yahaya Bello’s New Direction government, Kogites have been forced to cope with a system that lacks empathy for livelihood and it is evident with the payment of percentage salary to workers who should have been treated fairly well than what they are facing in this autocratic government.

“What can we say of a government that only pays full salaries on media but in the real sense, workers are wallowing in pains and starvation.

“Sadly, it is most shocking and appalling to wake up to the reality that in Kogi today, public servants which were long reputed to be the backbone of economic drivers in the State, have now been reduced to a pathetic status.

“Imagine a senior level officer of Local Government going home monthly with N11,000 as basic salary. It is such a sorry state!

“Medical doctors are also not left out in this unnecessary evil that has since been bedevilling the state and yet no one is talking. We can’t continue to watch and pretend that all is well while all that glitters is not actually gold in this stance.

“Hence, doctors are heavily groaning as they are unable to meet up with their financial responsibility due to this fractional payment, which has led to a palpable low morale vis-a-vis in the discharge of their official duty. Already, three medical consultants have left the services of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja based on unsolicited reports.

“Is this how we continue to look until the State becomes a shadow of itself if nothing is primarily done to salvage the situation.

“It is on this note, I call on the governor to do the needful if truly he must contest for president come 2023, as Aso Rock is not meant for those that pay percentage salary. This rote system of payment is far beyond the age we’re currently in, and it must stop,” he said.

PoliticsExplainer: Why Yahaya Bello May Lose APC Presidential Ticket Amid 2023 Elections by Gemid94(op): 6:11pm On Mar 05, 2022
One of the earliest candidates to show interest in the 2023 presidential race, Yahaya Bello, is on the verge of losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket, Quest Times can report.

There have been widespread speculation and rumours in political circles and the social media space, that the Kogi Governor could run for President in the 2023 elections under the umbrella of the ruling APC.

As it turns out, however, Bello cannot run under APC should the party’s “unwritten” agreement stand, amid his 2023 presidential ambition.

Recall that the ruling APC had earlier zoned its party Chairmanship to the North ahead of the national convention slated for March 26, a decision that is not constitutionally backed but based on modalities to restructure the party ahead of the 2023 elections.

This was made public on Tuesday, February 22, shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari met with all the APC Governors to discuss modalities for its upcoming convention.

Speaking after the meeting, Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-rufai, told journalists at the State House that; “We have agreed on a zoning formula for all the six geopolitical zones, and essentially, we swapped.

“Northern zones will take positions that Southern zones had in the last eight years and vice versa.”

Hence, if the APC plays the zoning card on March 26, as is widely expected, and concedes the chairmanship to the North Central, that could significantly complicate the presidential ambition of the most visible contender from the zone – Governor Yahaya Bello – even before he has formally and publicly declared his intention to run.

It would be interesting to see how he rallies after the party’s convention, especially if a candidate from his zone, the North Central, gets the party chair.

Based on antecedent, however, APC, in its nearly eight years of existence, has neither by itself nor the legacy parties that formed it, chosen both its chairman and presidential candidate from the same zone.

In the last 23 years, the only major party that has bucked the trend is the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2003, when the party presented Odumegwu Ojukwu as its presidential candidate, even though Chekwas Okorie was Chairman. But that was understandable as APGA is a regional party.

The APC has in fact treated zoning with the same fetishism with which it has religion, insisting that its flag bearer and his deputy, for example, cannot be of the same faith.

Yet Bello insists that neither zoning nor faith is a mountain too high to climb. When the issue came up at a recent meeting, he said that whichever way the party sliced it, it would still fall to him, something which one of those present described as audacious, if not dangerous optimism–a view he disagreed with.

But as it stands, let’s wait and see if Yahaya Bello would be able to scale the hurdle should things go the other way around.

Christianity EtcDancing To Glory: Sacked Chicken Republic Security Guards Gets Scholarship Offer by Gemid94(op): 6:55pm On Mar 04, 2022
Two former security personnel of Chicken Republic in Nigeria, who were reportedly fired for dancing during work hours, have been offered a scholarship to study abroad.

A viral video captures the youngsters grooving to a popular Amapiano song playing in the restaurant in a bid to entertain their customers as they eat.

However, the owners of the fast-food joint found their conduct unprofessional and fired them immediately after their attention was drawn to the footage.

But a Nigerian-based pastor, the General Overseer of OPM Church, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere says the duo are too young to be working as a security.

“These boys are too young to be working as a security, am giving them a scholarship to school overseas,” he commented on Facebook.

BusinessDancing Security Officers were Unprofessional; Weren’t Sacked — Chicken Republic by Gemid94(op): 6:25pm On Mar 04, 2022
Following the alleged sack of security guards caught on tape dancing while on duty, Chicken Republic has however denied dismissing the duo.

Quest Times reports the viral video has since Thursday stirred mixed reactions as Nigerians took to social media to share their different views on the decision of the restaurant.

As captured in the viral video that has since been trending on TikTok and other social networking sites, the duo displayed interesting dance steps to a popular song.

While some opined that a job without happiness is fake and the two young men should not have been sacked in the first place, others defended the action of the restaurant.

But in a statement on Friday, the restaurant denied taking such actions.

It explained that as a company it encourages all staff to have fun at work so would never go to the extent of sacking its staff for expressing themselves.

“This is evident in the multiple songs, dances, and nice chants that you will often hear in our stores.

“It is disappointing that some people may have the impression that chicken republic fired these security guards for dancing in our stores, this is not true and hence we need to set the record straight.”

He continued; “What we have are people who have so much invest in a particular locality or structure. These are people who have earned goodwill from the people based on how instrumental they are to the grassroots.

“Hence, people go to meet them to seek their opinion when the need arises as a result of what they have done in that locality.”

Giving reason to back his claims, the PDP member described the party as “democratic” and “open to dissenting views”.

“When I say godfathers do not exist within PDP, I mean the PDP is a democratic party that allows people to express themselves.

“For instance, you saw what happened in the Lagos Congress held two days ago (Sunday). Some people were saying some candidates were supposed to emerge because there was a list, and then at the end of the day, another set of candidates emerged.

“What happened was the fact that there was one particular person that everybody thought was a godfather, and there was another person who said he doesn’t agree with what was happening and he wanted to field himself. But the supposed godfather was defeated through the forum.”

Foreign AffairsWhy #blacklivesmatter Is Trending On Twitter by Gemid94(op): 9:29am On Feb 28, 2022
The #BlackLivesMatter has been trending on Twitter following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The phrase “black lives matter” first gained attention after it was used by a black community organiser in a Facebook post following the 2013 acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of black teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida.

Previous Center analyses of the hashtag show that its use and its influence grew to national prominence after Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson fatally shot Michael Brown in 2014 but was not indicted in the death of the black teen in November of that year.

Penultimately, the #BlackLivesMatter is currently Number 3 on Twitter trends as some netizens, Africans in particular accusing Ukraine of being racists despite being under attack by Russia.
