Nigeria, one of the most populous countries has weathered the storm of an unusual healthcare challenge occasioned by the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic that is still ravaging the world.

In 2021, a lot of events (both positive and negative) have taken place with many lessons to learn from them.

Against the backdrop of these challenges, Quest Times takes a run-down of the notable events that shaped Nigeria in 2021.

January

On 25th January 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari shakes up the top military command. Leo Irabor was named Chief of Defence, Ibrahim Attahiru became commander of the Army, A. Z. Gambo became commander of the Navy, and I. O. Amao became commander of the Air Force.

May

On 19th May 2021, the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau allegedly committed suicide following heavy fight between ISWAP fighters and the Boko Haram troops. June

Three notable events happened in June. They are as follows:

Twitter Ban

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on 4th June, announced that Twitter’s operations in Nigeria would be “suspended” indefinitely, arguing that the company engages in activities that “are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence”. T.B. Joshua

On 5th of June, Nigerian preacher TB Joshua, one of Africa’s most influential evangelists, died at the age of 57, shortly after a live broadcast and just days before his birthday. His death was described as one of the major events that shook Nigeria and the entire world in 2021.

Christianity EtcSee MFM Olukoya’s 37 Prophetic Picture For 2022 by Gemid94(op): 8:27am On Jan 01, 2022
By Arogbonlo Israel

As the world welcomes 2022, the founder and General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, MFM, Daniel Olukoya has released his prophecies for the year.

Olukoya released 37 prophecies themed Year 2022, ‘My year of becoming divine spectacle’, during the crossover service of the church.

According to him, “This year is a subtle year, a year of dribbling and a two-phased year.”

He however, recommends 10 kinds of prayers for 2022. They include: violent prayers, crude prayers, unsanitised prayers, uncivilised prayers, wicked prayers, forensic prayers, strategic prayers, travailing prayers, back to the sender prayers, and confrontational prayers.

Full text of the prophecies read below;

It is a year for true sons of God to have a voice

It is a year of new and better things for the children of God. So, make sure you serve God wholeheartedly in the year 2022.

It is a year of falling away from the old and the emergence of the new.

The Lord said new, accurate, prophetic voices will emerge, not like what we have now.

The Lord says that for many, all the doors that were shut against them shall be forced opened.

The year shall be a year of new beginning for many.

We need to pray really seriously on strange and great movements in the waters, in the rain, in the river and in the sea.

It is a year of positive dislocation; some will dislocate, they will think it is for evil but it shall be for good.

It is a year that you have to be serious with God: sort yourself out and put your life right. Don’t play games with God in the year 2022.

We need to pray really hard to prevent another COVID-like situation or anything that is similar to it.

PoliticsMy Chocha Is Wet — Nigerians Drag FFK’s Ex-wife, Precious Over Comment by Gemid94(op): 4:49pm On Dec 30, 2021
Ex-wife of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Precious Chikwendu has been dragged on social media by Nigerians who reportedly felt disrespected by her recent comments while inside a swimming pool with a suspected new lover.

Recall the media space was recently agog over comments by Precious, when she said “I am actually a Mami water but Africans take mami water too seriously but it is not”.

Precious in the same video was heard saying “awww water got into my Chocha, my Chocha is wet”. This comment hasn’t gone unnoticed by Nigerians who have expressed their sadness, disgust over the comments with many saying it is an insult to women and motherhood.

Chocha is a street slang to mean female genital.

Leonard Ibekwe @Leoibekwe “ how can she you say such in video u posted to Public? A mother of four? No respect for womanhood and motherhood? Abeg this is disgusting to say the least”.

Linda @LindaOghogho “ I am already ashamed as a woman hearing such thing. Chocha is very common slang for Virginia, even if it is wet you don’t have to say it in public. This girl is shameless. Aswear.”
She also said "I am a good mami but most men don't care if the mami is good or bad. They just see them all as fish and they want to fry them and EAT THEM UP".

Recall vanguard had reported how Precious Chikwendu’s ex-Husband, A former Aviation minister, Chief Fani-Kayode had told a court sitting in Abuja that his ex-wife Precious Chikwendu left his home to “propagate her inordinate sexual affection and denying her children breast feeding in the process.”

PoliticsBreaking: Lai Mohammed Breaks Silence On Contracting COVID-19 by Gemid94(op): 9:23pm On Dec 25, 2021
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has broken his silence on being infected with COVID-19.

Mohammed, who is a also member of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19, said he attended the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, the extraordinary meeting of FEC on Thursday and the inauguration of the new Minister of State for Works and Housing, Muazu Sambo, on Friday which was covered by the media.

He, therefore, wondered how he could be said to be in isolation and still be allowed to attend such important events at the Presidential Villa.

An online medium (not Quest Times) had reported that COVID-19 was ravaging the Presidential Villa. The newspaper said Mohammed as well as several other Villa officials including the Permanent Secretary, State House, Tijani Umar; the President’s Aide-de-camp, Yusuf Dodo; his chief security officer, Aliyu Musa, and his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, had contracted the virus.

PoliticsTop 5 Countries That Do Not Celebrate Christmas, No. 2 Surprises Many by Gemid94(op): 3:50pm On Dec 25, 2021
Christmas is celebrated on December 25 and is both a sacred religious holiday and a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon.

However, some countries do not celebrate Christmas for reasons best known to them.

Below are some of these countries as compiled by Quest Times below:

Morocco

Travelers head to Morocco for many things – hiking North Africa’s Atlas Mountains, camel treks, shopping, sleeping in a famous riad– but celebrating Christmas isn’t one of them.

You know why? The Moroccan people are primarily Muslim, so it’s no surprise that Christmas in Morocco is not a big deal.

Christmas is celebrated on December 25 and is both a sacred religious holiday and a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon.

Christianity EtcWhy These Nigerian Churches Don’t Celebrate Christmas by Gemid94(op): 3:22pm On Dec 25, 2021
As Christians mark the birth of Christ today being the 25th of December, Quest Times take a look at some churches in Nigeria that opposed Christmas.

For them, the celebration of Chrismas on December 25 is “unscriptural and unchristian”.

Jehovah’s Witness

This religious organisation is one of the biggest group of Christmas-shunners. The interesting thing is that they were not always this way. Once upon a time, Jehovah’s Witnesses used to observe Christmas. This was until 1928, after further study by one official.

Seventh Day Adventist Church

Like Jehovah’s Witnesses, this church is also against the celebration of Christmas.

A publication from the group that goes to church on Saturdays, the Jewish Sabbath day, not Sunday reads: “We do not celebrate Christmas as the Birth of Christ per say since Christ was not born in Dec.

BusinessTitan Trust Bank: Meet The New Owners Of Union Bank by Gemid94(op): 7:00pm On Dec 24, 2021
Nigerians got a shocker on Thursday, 23 December, with reports of the official take over of Union Bank by Titan Trust Bank.

The Board of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc (Union Bank) had notified the NGX and Securities Exchange Commission of the take over.

According to Union Bank board, its investors Union Global Partners Limited, Atlas Mara Limited and other shareholders reached an agreement with Titan Trust Bank Limited (TTB) to divest their shareholding in Union Bank to TTB.

It was gathered that the agreement, which is subject to regulatory approvals and other financial conditions, will upon completion transfer 89.39% of Union Bank’s issued share capital to TTB.

Aside the fact that Titan Trust Bank is reportedly owned by Tunde Lemo, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), there seems to be little or no information about the management staff of the bank.

Quest Times takes a look at the management staff as seen below:

Romance18+: Does Age Affect Performance In The Inner Chamber? by Gemid94(op): 1:47pm On Dec 24, 2021
Does age really affect performance in bed? This is an age question that many still find difficult to unravel.

Some are of the opinion age should or rather not a key factor to determine sexual prowess while others are of contrary views.

Below, we’ve looked at the science behind aging and sexual health to explain when most men start to experience a decline in their sexual performance and incline in instances of sexual dysfunction.

We’ve also shared a few actionable tips that you can use to maintain a healthy, enjoyable sex life in your 60s, 70s and beyond.

What age do men stop having s3x?

Since s3x drive and physical health can vary hugely from person to person, there’s no specific age at which most men give up on s3x.

However, research suggests that most men have a “sexual life expectancy” (the estimated age at which they’ll stop engaging in sexual activity on a regular basis) of around 75 to 85 years.

In a 2010 study conducted by the University of Chicago, researchers looked at the link between age and sexual activity in men and women throughout the United States.

The Ooni of Ife's wife announced today, Dec. 23, that her marriage to the Ooni of Ife is over, making this the Yoruba monarch's third divorce.

His first wife was Adebukola Bombota. They divorced years down the line.

In 2016, shortly after becoming King, the Ooni took Benin indigene, Olori Wuraola Zainab, as wife. The marriage crashed in 2017 without a child.

A year later, in 2018, the Ooni married a popular prophetess, Olori Naomi Silekunola. The marriage crashed today, Dec. 23, 2021, one year after they welcomed their son.

The first-class Yoruba monarch has a 29-year-old daughter with Omolara Olatunbosun though they never got married. They were both teenagers when the daughter was conceived.

Alleged Sexual Dysfunction: Fani-Kayode is a lion, does his job well at night — Lady reveals

Linda Ibieme Oghogho, a socialite and popular model in Lagos has revealed that the former aviation minister, FFK, dismissing recent claims of sexual dysfunction by the former’s estranged ex-wife, Precious Chikwendu.

Recall sections of the media had reported that one Precious Chikwendu had alleged that Femi Fani-Kayode isn’t fit to handle her as a man and that was why she got her baby through IVF otherwise known as insemination.

Reacting however, the lawyer with the Twitter handle @lindaoghogho claimed that the former minister is “a horse power” and that is “why many women are attracted to him”.

PoliticsPrecious Chikwendu Is Suffering From Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia – FFK by Gemid94(op): 7:20pm On Dec 09, 2021
Ex-Minister, Fani-Kayode Blasts Estranged Wife, Claims She Is Heartless, Has Severe Bipolar Disorder

A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has again hit back at his estranged wife, Precious Chikwendu.

He was reacting to claims made by Miss Precious via a court that the former minister has erectile dysfunction.

According to her, Fani-Kayode never consummated his six-year relationship with her because of the alleged challenge.

Miss Chikwendu said the four children she had with Fani-Kayode were conceived via artificial insemination.

She told the court that she was forced to be celibate during the time they were together as a couple.

She also told the court that the former minister did not perform any rites before their marriage nor paid her bride price.
She, therefore, prayed the court to declare that she was never married to Fani-Kayode.

Like she has done several times, Chikwendu accused Fani-Kayode of assaulting her while they were married, adding that the former minister lied to her that his marriage to his third wife had ended.

Reacting through his lawyer, Ayodeji Sunday Ibikunle, Fani-Kayode denied that he physically abused her while they were married.

He said, “We are constrained to point out the fact that Miss Precious Chikwendu, the former partner of our client Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Sadaukin Shinkafi, is suffering from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia and we acknowledge the fact that she is totally insane.

“Ordinarily we cannot be expected to respond to the crass, filthy, delusional, salacious, disgraceful and absurd allegations of an insane person. We appreciate the fact that Precious is clinically unstable, is as mad as a hatter and is prone to telling monstrous lies and making delusional statements.

“A glaring example of her degenerating mental state is the pernicious and specious lie and diabolical fabrication from the pit of hell that any of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode's sons is suffering from COVID 19 or that any of them has head injuries. And neither is it true that his lawyers made any such claims in court or elsewhere.

“Precious Chikwendu, who has made these sinister and cruel claims about her own children, is not only heartless, dangerous and delusional but is also nothing but a pathological liar with a troubled and twisted mind that is in urgent need of medical attention. Other than to make the above clarification we will continue to ignore her rantings, falsehood and mendacious fabrications and to pray for her recovery.

“Meanwhile we will meet her in court where she will be exposed for who and what she is and what she suffers from.”

PoliticsEndsars White Paper: It’s Govt Magic — Rinu; There Was No Massacre, Alabi Slams by Gemid94(op): 2:52pm On Dec 02, 2021
There was mild drama on Thursday when a Nigerian activist popularly known as Rinu Oduala and the Coordinator of #DefendLagos, Alabi Oladimeji debated on the White Paper report released by the Lagos State Government following the report of the judicial panel set up to probe cases of police brutality and shooting at the Lekki tollgate.

The duo traded words during a live TV interview on Arise Tv where they were invited to speak on the recent development.

In her words, Rinu faulted the Lagos State Government’s response on the recommendations made by the Judiciary Panel describing it as “White Paper with black contents” while supporting her claim with Fela Kuti’s mantra “government magic”.

She claimed the submissions made by the government “contradict the realities on ground”, saying she “would rather prefer justice to a peace walk that is politically motivated”.

Reacting, Alabi claimed the White Paper released by the Lagos State Government was based on “facts and figures”.

HealthWhy FG Should Revoke Its Compulsory COVID-19 Vaccination Plan — Cleric by Gemid94(op): 6:32pm On Nov 28, 2021
A Nigerian cleric cum convener of the Apostolic Christianity Network, Moses Idowu has faulted the plan of the Federal Government to impose sanctions on those who refuse the Covid-19 vaccine when it is made available to all.

The cleric, at a recent press conference, in Lagos, said the government has no moral and legal rights to force citizens to get the vaccine.

Recall the Secretary to the Federal Government, Boss Mustapha in a media report that went viral on October 14, said “there will be compulsory Covid-19 vaccination for civil servants with effect from December 1, 2021”.

Reacting, Idowu said the government’s decision to make the vaccine compulsory for civil servants is, “wrong-headed, lawless and atrocious. It is a policy that is morally flawed, scientifically baseless, ethically unsound, and logically absurd”.

According to him, the damages and deaths caused by the virus as well as the collateral damages as a result of side effects owing to vaccination and medical practices are enough for the government to think through its policy.

“Austria is on lockdown presently to force the unvaccinated to get the jab. If the vaccine is a protection against the virus why do people who already got the vaccine be protected from the unvaccinated?

“The State of Israel is fast closing in on a 100% vaccination rate yet it also has some of the highest rate of new infections. India, South Africa, Brazil, and the United Kingdom participated actively in the clinical trials toward the development of vaccines in 2019. Alas, it is in those countries that new and more virulent variants of the virus are now emerging.

“Germany is in the midst of the highest spread of covid-19 since December of last year. Yet Germany is the most challenging country in Europe for mitigation and mandates – the only country that has launched an offensive against those who are not vaccinated.”

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity has said “the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) poses a significant threat to the safety and security of Nigerian citizens”.

Garba, who spoke on Friday while presenting a paper at the 10th anniversary of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina, also said the president deserves credit over his efforts in tackling the farmers/herders crisis in the country in recent time.

“It is a fact that the Buhari administration is the only government of Nigeria that has put forward a workable solution to the herder-farmer challenge in all the years since independence.

“The threat to civilians and peaceful co-existence between different ethnic and religious groups from farmer-herders clashes, banditry and land disputes are of serious concern to the Buhari government.

“It is incorrect, however, to assert that the government has or is doing nothing to address the threats...

The Independent National Electoral Commission Supervising Residence Electoral Commissioner in Anambra, Sam Egwu, says “the fear of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)” has become “the beginning of wisdom” in South-East.

He also decried poor turnout of voters during the Anambra gubernatorial election on Saturday.

Speaking with Channels TV, Sunday, Egwu, lamented over the low voter turnout in the state, claiming this is not really good for Nigeria’s democracy.

“There is a whole state of fear that has been created by the politics of agitation for a separate state in this part of the country.

“IPOB has been able to enforce the sit-at-home order over time. So, the fear of the repercussion of what IPOB could do to people has become the beginning of wisdom."
