Christianity EtcMarch 18: I Saw Danger Light On Election Eve, Apostle Selman Reveals by Gemid94(op): 9:53am On Mar 14, 2023
Founder of the Eternity Network International, Apostle Joshua Selman has revealed stern warning ahead of the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections slated for Saturday, March 18, 2023.

In the vision, he said, God showed him a dangerous light on March 17 (Friday) and told him to pray against any form of fear on election eve.

Apostle Selman disclosed this in a video clip obtained by TRIBUNE ONLINE on Tuesday.

His words; “I had a vision yesternight into this morning… I don’t know what it is but I just want us to pray. I was leaning quietly, not even mediating when this vision was opened up to me.

“In the vision, I saw the 17th of March (Friday) and a danger light like amber light blinking on it, and I just heard the word “Pray” and that was it.

“I say it not just because I have to say it but because the Holy Spirit kept pressing it in my heart that we (the congregation) pray against it corporately.

PoliticsFact Check: Did Prof Aderinto Call Tinubu's Win "Stolen Mandate"? by Gemid94(op): 7:59pm On Mar 13, 2023
Saheed Aderinto, a Nigerian professor at Florida International University, who recently won the 2023 Dan David Prize, was quoted to have told Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu, to return his alleged stolen mandate.

A Twitter handle “Saheed Aderinto” on Monday, March 13, had stirred reactions after reacting to Tinubu’s congratulatory message on the blue app.

The now-viral tweet has garnered over 7,000 retweets and 2,819 likes at the time of filing this report.

The award-winning Nigerian Professor of History was quoted to have told Tinubu while reacting to his congratulatory message on his recent feat, to return his “stolen mandate”.

“Thanks anyway for the recognition, I hope you restore Our stolen Mandate,” the tweet read.

VERIFICATION
In a bid to ascertain the viability of the tweet, TRIBUNE ONLINE fact-checked Prof Aderinto’s social media profile.

Our findings showed the US-based Nigerian professor is currently not on Twitter. The purported tweet emanated from a parody (fake) account that was created in October 2019.

Further checks reveal Prof Aderinto has also debunked the purported tweet, as the said parody account was created without his consent.

“I don’t have a Twitter account. I see that a parody account has been created in my name. I didn’t make those statements on Twitter,” he wrote.

VERDICT
The claim in the circulating tweet is false and misleading.

PoliticsObi: Tinubu’s Victory Not God’s Plan For Nigeria by Gemid94(op): 10:36am On Mar 13, 2023
The standard-bearer of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, on Monday replied to the recent comments by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the victory of Bola Tinubu at the just-concluded presidential election, should be accepted as the will of God.

Recall wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, last week described the victory of APC’s Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential poll as the will of God.

“Regardless of our interests and diversity, we should all accept it as the will of Almighty God; we wouldn’t have done it without his grace.

“It is a victory for all Nigerians. I am optimistic that the President-Elect will not betray the trust and confidence that Nigerians reposed in him. It is now time to move on and focus on the path of `a renewed hope’ for Nigerian women and youths,” she said.

But reacting in a post-election interview with Arise Television, which was monitored by TRIBUNE ONLINE, Obi faulted the First Lady’s comment saying God’s wish is doing the right things and not vice-versa.

When asked if he would accept Tinubu’s victory as the wish of God as some religious leaders rightly claimed, he emphatically answered; “What they are actually preaching is the problem of Nigeria. The problem of Nigeria is accepting wrongdoing and what is unacceptable. That is using God’s name in vain. That is not what God is saying. God said do not use my name in vain.

PoliticsWill Seyi, The Last Of The G5, Remain Standing After March 11? by Gemid94(op): 4:42pm On Mar 05, 2023
Created on November 20, 2022, the G5 (Integrity Group) comprises five governors, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Nyesom Wike of Rivers. Before the 2023 elections, the Wike-led G5 governors have been clamouring for the PDP National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu’s resignation shortly after a northerner, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, won the party presidential ticket.

The Integrity Group saw the need for the South to produce the party’s national chairman after Abubakar because the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 general election is from the North. Hence, the group was formed on equity, fairness, and justice — a maxim some analysts have faulted for lacking substance as it is more like a conglomeration of individuals with distinct interests rather than a common goal.

Things fall apart

Following an unholy alliance with the opposition, the G5 became a shadow of itself, as three of its members failed in their quest to move to the Senate after their two terms as governors elapsed.

Recall that the leader of the group, Governor Ortom, had endorsed Peter Obi of the Labour Party a few days before the February 25 poll, while his colleagues, Wike and Makinde, according to unsolicited sources, also pledged support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, leading to the division in the group.

Based on the foregoing, the G3 paid the ultimate prize for their anti-party politics with shocking defeats recorded in the just-concluded National Assembly election in their respective States.

Ikpeazu

Though he was said to have lost his Senatorial bid following his abysmal performance in the State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu could not ride on his incumbent power to clinch the Abia South Senatorial ticket. The outgoing governor could only garner 28,422 votes against Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ‘s 49,693.

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has reacted to allegations made by the Kogi Central Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, that he was after her.

Governor Bello in a one-on-one interview on the Politics Today programme of Channels Television on Friday, said he doesn’t know why Natasha is fond of mentioning his name either rightly or wrongly.

His words, “I don’t know why my name is so sweet in her mouth that she would continue to mention me. Let me tell you and other Nigerians, do you know I do not lose sleep over her mentioning my name? Either rightly or wrongly.

“Do you know why? Because she knows what is paining her. Please I think Nigerians should ask Natasha, what does she really want?

“Every now and then, today she is contesting for this position, whether I am contesting or not, she keeps mentioning me. Tomorrow she is contesting for another, she’s mentioning me. Please ask her, what does she want?”

PoliticsNaira Redesign: We’re Waiting For Supreme Court Judgement, Kogi Govt Insists by Gemid94(op): 7:34pm On Feb 16, 2023
Kogi State Government has reiterated its stance on the suit it filed alongside its counterparts, Zamfara and Kaduna against the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the cashless policy.

TRIBUNE ONLINE earlier reported President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the CBN to allow only the old N200 to remain legal tender until April 10, 2023, in order to improve currency circulation in the country and ease pains experienced by Nigerians due to the challenges posed by the policy.

“I have given approval to the CBN that the old N200 bank notes be released back into circulation and that it should also be allowed to circulate as legal tender with the new N200, N500, and N1000 banknotes for 60 days from Feb. 10, 2023 to April 10 2023,” Buhari was quoted as saying.

But reacting, in an interview with TVC on Thursday, Kogi Commissioner of Information, Kingsley Fanwo said they are reviewing the situation.

“We all listened to what Mr President has said today. We are reviewing the situation. There are no clear lines of action right now. As we are also aware the case is before the Supreme Court and they will resume hearing February 22nd.

“We are very confident that the Supreme Court will go ahead with the case and whatever decision they arrived at, we are confident that we have a President that trolls the line of constitutionalism and believes in the rule of law.”

CrimeChrisland: Whitney's Father Clears Air On Daughter's Health Condition by Gemid94(op):
Dr Michael Adeniran, the biological father of Whitney Adeniran, the Chrisland student that recently died has refuted claims by the school management that her daughter had “not-too-buoyant health” before passing out.

In an exclusive interview with TRIBUNE ONLINE, Dr Adeniran said he has started legal process to ensure justice is being served on the matter.

“Chrisland should make sure they don’t go and bribe the Pathology department of Lagos State. They are the one who is refusing and telling me not to go (for autopsy) before. Suddenly, they are coming to tell me that I should make sure autopsy is done. Meaning that they have gone to bribe their way through. But I will give them a shocker of their life,” Dr Adeniran said.

“(Sobs)… I gave birth to Whitney October 30th, 2010. She slept in the hospital 11th and 12th of October 2010 and since that day till date, my daughter has never slept in the hospital.

“If my child is sick who is to know she is sick? The teachers in school or the parents that gave birth to her? So, a child that is healthy, you’re telling me that my child is sick, an emotional.”

He continued; “What I’m engaging with Chrisland now is a battle. Everything I need to do legally has started doing it. And one thing I can guarantee Chrisland is, they should get their lawyers ready, I will get mine ready. They are afraid of going to court because they killed my child.

PoliticsMbaka's Bombshell: ‘Nigerians Are Suffering’ Under Buhari's Watch by Gemid94(op): 10:03pm On Feb 05, 2023
The Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka has berated President Muhammadu Buhari following the current hardship posed by the Naira redesign policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

TRIBUNE ONLINE had reported on January 4 that following the return of Mbaka after eight months he stayed outside the State, there was jubilation in parts of Enugu State capital.

The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev Callistus Onaga had in October 2022 posted Fr Mbaka out of Adoration Ministry Catholic Chaplaincy to Monastery following June ban of church activities in the ministry.

In a recent sermon, monitored by TRIBUNE ONLINE, the outspoken cleric said though the CBN may have good intentions for introducing the Naira policy, “the timing is very wrong” adding that “Nigerians are now suffering” following the scarcity of the new notes.

“People (Nigerians) are suffering. People will suffer to take their money and there is a country. And tomorrow you will say Father Mbaka says. Why do you force me to say something? I am giving both the President (Muhammadu Buhari) and the CBN Governor (Godwin Emefiele) a mandate from heaven if they don’t want to act immediately and stop this self-imposed wicked suffering on the people, they will suffer.

“People are now selling money, not dollars. It easy to get dollar now than to get Naira. Parents cannot have money to buy foodstuff for their children.

PoliticsLet Fuel Be Expensive, Keep Petrol, I'll Win, Tinubu Jabs Buhari's Govt by Gemid94(op): 5:51pm On Jan 25, 2023
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has said he would be elected Nigeria's next president despite attempts by some persons to sabotage his chances in the February 25 poll.

Tinubu made the assertion Wednesday during a rally at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

He also said there is a plot by some saboteurs to stop the 2023 general elections from holding.

“Let fuel be expensive, only they know where they keep it. Keep petrol, keep the naira, we will vote and be elected. You may change the ink of naira notes. What you expect will not happen. We will win,” the APC flag-bearer was quoted as saying in Yoruba parlance.

“They said petrol will rise to N200/litre and N500/litre, let your mind be at rest. They don’t want these forthcoming elections to hold. They want to scatter it but that won’t be possible.

“They thought they could cause trouble; they sabotaged fuel but with or without fuel, with or without motorcycles and tricycles, we will vote and win. This is a superior revolution.”

“We will take over government through our PVCs. Even if they say there is no fuel, we will trek to the polling units,” he added.

President Muhammadu Buhari is the current minister of Petroleum and Nigerians have been lamenting over the scarcity of fuel that have since seen the price fluctuating between N180 to N500 across the country.

PoliticsFrom Obidient To ‘Emi Lokan’: Some Political Events That Rocked 2022 by Gemid94(op): 10:38am On Dec 31, 2022
The Year 2022 came with a lot of indelible moments — from the buildup to the 2023 general elections, to the heightened security challenges, among other notable events that rocked Nigeria.

In this article, Tribune Online highlights some of the events that shaped 2022:

May 27: Labour Party as the "third force"

May 27 marks a new phase of politics in Nigeria's political history as Peter Obi officially joined the Labour Party — a development that birthed the OBIdient Movement.

Undoubtedly, the emergence of Peter Obi as the LP presidential candidate has taken the party from its insignificant position to what political commentators termed the "Third Force".

Before joining LP, the former Anambra Governor was a vice presidential candidate to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in 2019. His defection to the Labour Party has transformed the party from "Zero to Number 3".

May 28: Atiku's emergency for the umpteenth time

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the proverbial serial aspirant made headlines after clinching the presidential ticket under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a record sixth time.

Atiku has unsuccessfully contested five times for the Office of President of Nigeria in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, and 2019. He garnered 371 votes to defeat his closest rival, Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, who polled 237 votes.

Atiku's emergency as PDP flag-bearer was one of the talking points that shaped Nigeria's political space in 2022.

June 5: Owo massacre

It was a black Sunday for the people of Owo and its environs, as a bomb attack rocked a Catholic Church in the area on June 5, 2022. At least 40 people were killed following the gory attack, with the highest estimates being around 80.

Some sources in the federal government of Nigeria suspected the Islamic State – West Africa Province of carrying out the massacre.

June 8: Osinbajo 'Lule', Tinubu's 'Emi lokan'

Another high point of political discourse was the declaration of Bola Tinubu, the originator of the 'Emi lokan' mantra, as the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tinubu had defeated Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who some political analysts considered the supposedly "anointed candidate" of President Muhammadu Buhari. But the "starboy" as fondly called by his admirers came a distant third in the keenly-contested primary.

June 18: Ekiti election

As expected, the Ekiti election saw Kayode Fayemi's "anointed candidate" Biodun Oyebanji's emergence as the 5th executive governor of Ekiti. He scored 11,247 votes to beat his closest contestants, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Bisi Kolawole of the PDP. Ekiti governorship election has come and gone, but the election has left a notable mark in Nigeria's electoral and political history.

July 5: Kuje Prison break

Despite early warnings, the Kuje prison was attacked on Tuesday, July 5, by suspected terrorists, paving way for the escape of over 800 prisoners.

The group shot its way into the Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre after overpowering security guards in a well-coordinated assault. About half of the escapees are still at large including over 60 Boko Haram terrorists. The attack on the Kuje facility was another notable event that rocked Nigeria in 2022.

July 16: Osun Decides 2022

On July 16, Ademola Adeleke, aka the dancing senator, defeated the then-incumbent governor Gboyega Oyetola to emerge as the fifth elected governor of Osun. Adeleke defeated Oyetola of the ruling All Progressives Congress with 402,979 votes to 375,077 votes.

The Osun election is another notable political event that rocked Nigeria in 2022 with a lot of lessons to learn from it.

November 20: Wike and his G5 friends

Sounds like the old series Binta and friends, but in this case, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his G5 warriors are not playing.

Following their fallout with the PDP's national leadership, Wike and his allies popularly known as the 'G5 Governors' announced the formation of the Integrity Group within the party.

The development came at a time when the main opposition party is seeking to unseat the ruling APC come 2023. But Wike and his 'five-man army' wouldn't cease giving Atiku the 'pepper dem vawulence'.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some aggrieved party stalwarts, on Sunday, announced the formation of the Integrity Group within the party.

The Wike-led G5 Governors have been clamouring for the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu since the party’s presidential ticket was won by a northerner, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku defeated Mr Wike and other aspirants to emerge as the PDP candidate. Other governors in the G5 are Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia.

... it is hard to talk about Wike without mentioning his hypemen backup team. Their model of adding pepper to the injury of Wike's political enemies even makes their operation more painful.

November 23: CBN's Redesigned Naira

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration made history as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) unveiled the new notes of the three highest denominations of the Nigerian currency; N200, N500 and N1,000 on November 23.

According to the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, the introduction of new notes was a deliberate step by the government to check corruption and counterfeiting of the notes. The last redesign was in 2014 when the N100 commemorative banknote was issued in celebration of Nigeria's centenary celebration.

That action by the CBN Governor together with reducing the cash withdrawal limit was greeted with wild reactions, but in all, Emefiele moving from almost running for the number one political office in Nigeria to single-handedly fighting those hoarding the Naira and laundering is up there with the biggest issues of 2022.

PoliticsVIDEO: Terrific Moment As Peter Obi Receives Rousing Welcome At The Experience by Gemid94(op): 1:45pm On Dec 03, 2022
A video showing the moment the presidential flag-bearer of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, received a standing ovation and resounding cheers from congregants at The Experience 17 in Lagos, has been making the rounds on social media.

The former Anambra State governor attended the Interdenominational Gospel concert founded by Pastor Paul Adefarasin, founder and senior pastor of House on the Rock on Friday, December 2, and was given a warm reception by the congregation.

The Experience, which debuted in December 2006 with over 70,000 persons in attendance rapidly gained momentum at its second outing with a quantum leap in attendance of well over 700,000 people.

The Experience has now become known as the largest musical concert in Africa and attendance is free.

In his remarks, Peter Obi thanked the organisers for the successful event while praying that God would hear the prayers of all the participants.

"I greatly enjoyed God's presence at THE EXPERIENCE 17, yesterday in Lagos.

"I thank the organisers of the program, and everyone who contributed in making it a huge success. To the millions of people who participated in the program, both physically and virtually, may God hear our prayers for our nation and for ourselves. -PO," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has challenged the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, to the political battlefield, if he’s sure he’s physically and mentally okay.

Baba-Ahmed said he’s not in the best position to say whether Tinubu is sick or not.

Baba-Ahmed made the remark while speaking at an Abuja press conference on Thursday, December 1.

Politics2023: APC, PDP Can't Do Without Mentioning My Name In Meetings, Says Peter Obi by Gemid94(op): 8:23am On Nov 23, 2022
Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, says he is the only candidate the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) discusses in their meetings.

Obi spoke at an interactive session tagged #90MinutesWithPeterObi on Tuesday. No fewer than 59,000 users tuned in for the Twitter Space that focused on hot issues bordering on his plans and aspirations for 2023.

The former Anambra governor while fielding questions from his supporters said his emergence as LP presidential candidate has taken his party from "zero to Number 3".

"Labour Party and me as the candidate in four months has been able to at least shake the establishment (APC and PDP) from zero to Number 3.

"Today, the only thing PDP and APC discusses in their meeting is Peter Obi. I can tell you with your support, we will win this election and see the difference Nigeria can be," he said.

Meanwhile, Tinubu has promised to ‘recharge’ the Lake Chad if elected president next year.

Tinubu made this known on Tuesday at the inauguration of the first drilling of crude oil at the Kolmani Oil Field in Bauchi.

“Each time we discuss the lack of food and the challenges of terrorism, you will talk about Lake Chad. Okay, let me assure you, if I am elected the president, I will recharge Lake Chad," the APC flag-bearer was quoted as saying.

PoliticsBello's Commissioner Deletes Poll After Obi Defeated Tinubu by Gemid94(op):
Ahead of the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate has been tipped as the frontrunner ahead of Bola Tinubu of All Progressives Congress (APC), for the party’s ticket in a now-deleted poll conducted by Kogi Commissioner of information, Kingsley Fanwo.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and his counterpart Rabiu Kwankwaso (NNPP) were also listed in the poll.

On his Twitter account on Saturday, November 19, the commissioner, an ardent supporter of Tinubu, held a presidential poll, ‘Dear Nigerians, who do you want as your next President?’

The tweet was deleted after 73,212 individuals voted, with Obi leading with 78 percent. Tinubu trailed him, having garnered 15 percent of the votes. Atiku had 4 percent, and Kwankwaso had 3 percent.

Quest Times understands Kingsley Fanwo is one of the commissioners of Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, who is the National Youth Coordinator of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.

This is not the first time Peter Obi will be leading in a presidential poll. In September, a poll, commissioned by Anap Foundation and conducted by NOI Polls Limited, had placed the Labour Party candidate as the winner of the 2023 presidential race — other political parties had kicked against the poll.

Music/RadioTop 10 Must-Watch Players At FIFA World Cup In Qatar by Gemid94(op): 8:57pm On Nov 19, 2022
Qatar 2022 World Cup starting from 20 November to 18 December 2022 will be an exciting moment for all football lovers to watch the best players in the sport from every corner of the globe.

In this listicle, Quest Times' AROGBONLO ISRAEL selected the prime stars and the performances everyone should be taking in when all eyes turn to Qatar this winter.

Here are the top 10 must-watch players in our pick:

10 Pape Matar Sarr, Senegal
Club: Tottenham Hotspur

Despite not having a single minute for Spurs, Sarr could play a key role for Senegal at the World Cup in Qatar. For his country, Sarr has tended to operate as a number eight in a 4-3-3 or as part of a double pivot in a 4-2-3-1. The 20-year-old has built up an impressive relationship with the fluid attacking line, particularly with Sadio Mané and Ismaïla Sarr. He is a talented youngster to watch out for in Qatar.

9.Takefusa Kubo, Japan
Club: Real Sociedad

Kubo has made the most dribbles for Sociedad in 2022/23 so far, and also has the most touches inside the penalty area. When coming in from a wide position, the 21-year-old can jink, change direction and drop his shoulder both ways, to work shooting opportunities or drive around the outside to cross (below). When central, he drops towards the ball, barely ever leaving the space between the lines, but still making sure to receive the ball away from the opposition centre-backs on the half-turn. Watch out for him!

8.Leroy Aziz Sané, Germany
Club: Bayern Munich

Sané made his senior international debut for Germany in November 2015 and was part of their squad that reached the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2016. On 16 November 2018, he scored his first goal for Germany against Russia following an assist from Serge Gnabry. The goal came in the eighth minute of the game as Germany won 3–0, would you bet against him repeating those heroics in Qatar?

7.Bukayo Saka, England
Club: Arsenal

The 21-year-old Nigerian-British player has been instrumental in Arsenal's winning streak this season and is expected to put up a good performance in Qatar this winter when he makes his World Cup debut for the English team. Saka is known for his attacking incisiveness and creativity and is often considered one of the best young football players in the world.

6.Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, Brazil
Club: Paris Saint Germain

Brazil's newest hero will be expected to shoulder the expectations of millions this summer. As hosts, the Selecao will be expected to win their sixth FIFA World Cup despite the fact that this team led by Adenor Leonardo Bacchi is far from special. Neymar operates in a free role from the left-hand side of the Bacchi's system, with striker Fred deployed to detract attention and create room for his countryman to work in. The PSG trickster has pace, quick feet, an eye for goal and a stunning pass, so keep your eyes peeled whenever he gets on the ball in the final third.

5.Kevin De Bruyne, Belgium
Club: Manchester City

De Bruyne is a world-class player who is considered by some analysts as a "complete footballer". De Bruyne made his full international debut in 2010, and he has since earned over 90 caps and scored 25 goals for Belgium. He was a member of the Belgian squads that reached the quarter-finals both at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and at UEFA Euro 2016. He represented Belgium at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where Belgium won the third place play-off match against England, and was named in the FIFA World Cup Dream Team. Can he make yet another history with Belgium in Qatar?

4.Pedro González López, Spain
Club: Barcelona

Pedro González López, known as Pedri, is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for La Liga club Barcelona and the Spain national team. On 21 August 2020, Pedri was called up to the Spain under-21 squad; he later made his debut on 3 September in a 1–0 away win over Macedonia in a qualifying match for the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. In March 2021, Pedri received his first call-up to the Spain senior team from coach Luis Enrique ahead of the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification. He made his debut on 25 March against Greece. The Golden Boy is another talent to watch out for in Qatar.

3.Robert Lewandowski, Poland
Club: Barcelona

The 34-year-old forward is a beast when he comes to scoring. His debut for the senior national team came on 10 September 2008, three weeks after his 20th birthday, against San Marino where he came on as a substitute and scored a goal in a 2–0 away win in 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification. He is currently the highest goal scorer in LaLiga with 14 goals and also one of the leading top strikers for the 2023 Ballon d'Or Power Ranking. His finishing is now bordering on deadly, and his pace a topnotch. If you let him cut inside onto his left foot, you'll be down a goal in no time.

2.Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal
Club: Manchester United

Ronaldo is indeed one of the greatest players to greet this sport. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is hardworking, talented and a go-getter when it comes to scoring. A rasping long shot, searing pace, astonishing athletic presence and aerial ability make him unlike any other who plies the trade, and he'll need to use every one of his incredible strengths to take Portugal as far as possible in this tournament.

1.Lionel Messi, Argentin
Club: Paris Saint Germain

The diminutive South American is a seven-time reigning Ballon d'Or winner and scored an astonishing 91 goals in the 2012 calendar year. During the World Cup in Germany, Messi witnessed their opening match victory against the Ivory Coast from the substitutes' bench. In the next match, against Serbia and Montenegro, he became the youngest player to represent Argentina at a FIFA World Cup when he came on as a substitute in the 74th minute. He assisted their fourth strike within minutes and scored the final goal in their 6–0 victory, making him the youngest scorer in the tournament and the sixth-youngest goalscorer in the history of the World Cup. For many, he's the best player in world football when fit, and he's looking forward to lifting his first World Cup in Qatar. Sit back and enjoy the GOAT!

PoliticsOsinbajo’s Delayed Recognition Of Tinubu At Akeredolu’s Mother’s Burial by Gemid94(op): 3:43pm On Nov 14, 2022
Although the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo made a mistake not recognising the APC Presidential Flagbearer during protocols recognition over the weekend in Owo, the incident was greeted with good humour and courteous banters as the VP corrected himself moments after the oversight.

This generated buzz over the social media space after video of the incident circulated.

In the video, the Vice President, at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church [venue of the funeral] in Owo, acknowledged the presence of Kayode Fayemi, former governor of Ekiti, as well as Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Dapo Abiodun, governors of Lagos and Ogun, respectively.

He also recognised the presence of notable politicians and personalities present including, party chieftains, former governors, lawmakers, ministers, senators and captains of industry amongst others.

Professor Osinbajo during his speech acknowledged the presence of Tinubu.

“Before I go on, I have made a very big error. I have left out the presidential candidate of our great party, the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

“The Emilokan. Asiwaju, I’m sorry. He was sitting right next to me. Not just sitting right next to me, but right in front of me, but I honour you and welcome you to this event.”

Recall that Osinbajo earlier on October 26, got his audience rolling in laughter, after he jovially revisited the drama between himself and Tinubu’s running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, that played out just before the APC presidential primary election in June.

Osinbajo labeled Shettima “the Chairman and majority shareholder of his ice-cream-producing company.”

An eye witness, who is a top official of the Ondo State Government, Dr. Oladoyin Odebowale, took to his Facebook account to say “I was in Owo. There is nothing like animosity. They all joked and laughed together throughout the programme. The VP was given the protocol list already prepared. Asiwaju Tinubu came after the list has been prepared. The error came from the protocol people. He quickly corrected himself. They all joked outside the church… Nobody saw a serious breach. Asiwaju came later than others.”

One commentator said the buzz over the event that the whole thing was purely exaggerated. She said “The people shouting will be alright. The pictures taken at the event tell a different story. Besides, didn’t Tinubu ‘ignore’ His Excellency after the presidential primaries at Eagle Square and Gbajabiamila had to correct him? If anything, they will want this to be a distraction from the drug story making the rounds.

Another commentator, Imran U. Wakili, took to Twitter to say “So Osinbajo did not mention Tinubu in his observance of protocol before his speech at an event. He was reminded and he stopped what he was saying and apologized. He even blamed himself saying ‘and you are even sitting in front of me and I was looking at you, I am sorry’”.

Olayemi, another Twitter commentator, said “Pls leave Prof. Yemi Osinbajo alone. He lost the primaries to BAT and he has moved on. Lists was given to him before d arrival of Bola Tinubu. The organizers might not know BAT will be at d event. May God forgive us as we give judgement on what we know little or nothing about.”

Susan Henshaw, on her part wondered why anyone will think Osinbajo would have deliberately ignored Tinubu. She tweeted “WHY would anyone believe Osinbajo would deliberately not acknowledge someone…anyone in church. Thats not who he his. No history of vindictiveness or malicious behavior, except in the hearts of those making the accusations.”

PoliticsTinubu Too Busy To Attend Debates - APC by Gemid94(op): 11:55pm On Nov 06, 2022
The All Progressives Congress Campaign Council has revealed reasons its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, was absent at a live presidential debate held at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

The campaign council’s clarification is coming in the wake of Tinubu’s absence at the event organised by Democracy and Development (CDD) in collaboration with Arise TV.

Tinubu’s counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, who was said to be on his way from Morocco, was, however, represented by his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Quest Times can authoritatively report.

Reacting, Festus Keyamo, the Director, Public Affairs and Spokespersons, Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in a statement on Sunday, said his principal is busy at the moment.

Politics5 PDP Governors Working Against Atiku’s Presidential Bid by Gemid94(op): 6:08pm On Oct 27, 2022
Amid the wrangling within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Quest Times runs the rule on the five (5) incumbent governors within the PDP fold who ‘have withdrawn their support’ for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Recall that the PDP presidential flag-bearer on May 29, 2022, was declared winner of the keenly contested PDP presidential primary election, after polling the highest number of votes to defeat his closest rival, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, among others.

Following this, some aggrieved members of the party have been unable to make peace with an Atiku candidacy, insisting that his emergence flies in the face of fair representation, equity and regional balance.

According to these aggrieved members, the ticket should have been ceded to the south on a platter and not the other way around. They argue that it is unfair and an aberration for the standard-bearer and Chairman of the party to hail from the same northern region.

Below are the five (5) PDP governors who have through speeches, body language, actions or inactions, inferred that they are working against Atiku’s presidential ambition:

1. Nyesom Wike
Fondly called “Emperor” by his admirers, the Rivers State Governor has on numerous occasions kicked against the emergence of Atiku as PDP standard-bearer. He is also one of the leading voices against an Atiku presidency. He has been particularly loud about his disdain for Atiku.

Wike has even gone as far as removing photographs of the PDP presidential candidate from campaign materials in his state; and emphatically stated his reasons for doing so during an interaction with journalists recently.

2. Okezie Ikpeazu
Abia State Governor Ikpeazu is one of a handful of PDP governors who have fallen out with their party in the aftermath of the primary election which produced Atiku as the presidential candidate.

These governors were supporters of Governor Wike of Rivers who polled second in the primary election. They have since demanded the resignation of party Chairman Iyorchia Ayu for allegedly helping Atiku to nick the presidential ticket.

Even though Ikpeazu has affirmed that Atiku is his presidential candidate, there are strong indications that he has been going the Wike way by refusing to align with the PDP presidential candidate since the commencement of the 2023 political campaigns.

3. Seyi Makinde
Makinde is an unalloyed Wike loyalist and a member of the Wike group.

Despite openly declaring that he would rally behind anyone who eventually emerged as the party’s presidential candidate, Makinde is one of the PDP governors believed to be working against the candidacy of Atiku, on the heels of the internal crisis rocking the party.

The Oyo governor is also among the PDP governors calling for the removal of Ayu as the party’s chairman.

4. Udom Emmanuel
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom is not exempt from the list of incumbent PDP governors working against the candidacy of the former vice president.

Recall that Udom, in the run up to the PDP presidential primary contest, purportedly denied Atiku access to delegates in his state. Though he refuted the rumours at the time, Udom hasn’t come out to throw his weight behind an Atiku presidency like most party heavyweights have done.

5. Samuel Ortom
Just like Wike, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State says Atiku did not consult him when picking representatives from his state into the campaign council, a development he considers disrespectful to his office and status.

He has therefore withdrawn his support for Atiku, stating tongue-in-cheek this week that “when the election comes, we’d do the election according to the election.”

BusinessLady Drags Zenith Bank After Losing N450k In Less Than 24 Hours by Gemid94(op): 1:25pm On Oct 19, 2022
A Nigerian lady, identified simply as Dr. Ola Sandra Ndukwe, has called out Zenith Bank, after a sum of N450,000 was allegedly debited from her account in less than a day.

According to her, her Zenith App was hacked a couple of weeks ago and all efforts to rectify the issue proved abortive, following negligence on the part of the bank.

In a tweet thread that has garnered massive reactions, Ola narrated her ordeal, while calling on Nigerians to be wary of the bank:

If you’re still banking with Zenith Bank…you better think twice.

I never wanted to post this, but for the sake of “innocent” people that may fall victim… I did. Some days back, my Zenith App was hacked into. I lost a sum of 450k (my daily limit is 500k).

CelebritiesUnauthorised Video: Rico Swavey Passed On At Evercare Hospital by Gemid94(op): 11:04pm On Oct 14, 2022
Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Patrick Fakoya, better known as Rico Swavey, died in the early hours of Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Evercare Hospital, Quest Times can now report.

The easygoing artist had been involved in a ghastly accident earlier in the day, fell into a coma and never came out of it.

But the publication of a video made by apparent nurses in one of the hospitals he was taken to, has caused outrage among Nigerians because of the irresponsible behaviour of the health workers seen in the video and the very publication of the video. (Quest Times will not publish the video, as such is considered unethical).

Quest Times reports that the artist was first rushed to a hospital in Ajah, possibly Doreen, but for some yet-to-be-disclosed reasons was soon taken away and taken to Evercare.

PoliticsWahala For APC As More Ministers Refuse To Endorse Him by Gemid94(op): 12:29pm On Oct 12, 2022
Cracks within the ranks of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are beginning to show as some key ministers and party chieftains have refused to endorse the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, ahead of the 2023 elections.

While appearing as a guest on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, craftily avoided endorsing Tinubu for the 2023 presidency, leading to wild speculations that many party chieftains were not supporting his ambition.

Dr. Ngige himself attempted contesting to become the party’s standard bearer but later pulled out after President Muhammadu Buhari directed his appointees who were aspirants to resign in line with section 84(12) of the Electoral Act.

Ngige could not publicly confirm his choice between Tinubu and the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi. The outspoken minister and former Anambra State Governor refused to give a straight answer. He said “I am not active in politics. When I withdrew from the presidential race, I said I was going to face my work. The work is multifaceted and multifarious as I came back.
