The founding fathers of modern day America were the descendents of the British who had fled Britain for the New World due to Christian persecution. America essentially is a version of Britian but it is a million times larger and that is why everything seems magnified compared to Britain. However bigger doesn't always mean better.

I think it should also be noted that Louis Theroux is half American/half British and has made similar not so flattering documentaries in many cities in both countries. From the gun crime in Brixton to Philadephia. One of my favourites howver was when he investigated gangster rap in the deep south and the black porn industry. Say what you like but Louis is one of the best unique journalists out there and I am glad he went to Lagos. I would also like to see a similar one which focused on the militants of the Niger Delta although I doubt the BBC would license such a reportage due to safety reasons.

It is a shame Gamu is going to be deported but I suppose she could always try out for Zimababwe Idol. She must have instant fame over in Zim now.
