oga, a word that has a universally approved meaning should be used in that context. Stop excusing ignorance. In law we say, "ignorance of the law isn't an excuse" use words in their correct meanings. Tell me five words that in Britain they have one meaning, in America another meaning, Australia another meaning, and then in Nigeria another meaning. Just five.

It's not in my attitude to reply people with rude mannerism but let me educate you. Firstly, there's nothing like approved meaning in language but conventional accepted at a particular period of time. That's why in the 17th and 18th centuries, gay means "good" but now "homosexualism" meat means "bread" but now "flesh" etc. U see, the Oxford dictionary is worldly accepted because it's from British which is the origin of English and it will limit d level of disparities both in meaning & pronunciation (phonetics). However, when it comes to semantics and pragmatic level of linguistics analysis, it's open. That's why we have local (might be slang) National (Tout in Nig) and international usage of of words, it's all beauty of Language. That's why legal practitioners will study a document within the ambit of law and it jurisdiction ( local, national and international law). These are English words that have different meaning in different countries- "Brat" means brother in Poland, "fart" means speed in Norway, "gift" means poison in Germany, Kiss means "wee" in Sweden, in USA, bin means a storage container while in UK, it means trash Can etc... U can sue anybody that calls u tout for defamation of character in Nig, all u need is an evidence which prof.Wole Soyinka and John Clark dictionaries provide. Cheers✌

Truth is the lady just learnt something this morning (just as you did the other day) and I'm sure she's grateful for it.

Language is dynamic and it should be used within the semantic interpretation of the immediate community, that's why we have American English, British English, Australian English, South African English, Nigerian English etc. That's what we call varieties of English with slit semantic interpretation. So if tout in Nigeria means "bad" it's bad. That's why dictionary is been revised everytime to accommodate new views. Language is descriptive not prescriptive. Pls change this ur notion of Tout on this platform. This's Nig and it's Nig English which is highly correct and permissible in Language study, Thanks.

Good evening house, I placed an order fr an item 3 weeks bck, after 2days I lost interest thank God d seller hasn't shipped out so I cancelled d order, few days later my money was reversed however few hrs later I received another alert via d same description this time close to 700k. I tot it might be bank error and they will reverse their money later but this money keep chilling in my acc fr 13dys now. My church mind tells me to contact my bank but my frnd says bank could av detected if it's theirs by nw. So going to bank is like dashing them d money. I sent msg to d seller via AliExpress but he/she refused to reply even thou AliExpress doesn't released fund to sellers untill buyer received parcel. Pls who own this money? Bank, seller AliExpress or me...lol. I don't just want any wahala

The truth of the matter is that alot of Nigerians are gullible in nature or the older ones have lost sense of history. It amazes me when some dudes here say Buhari has a Degree, degree in what? Yes he has a secondary school cert (he only pass Hausa and gvt), yes he went abroad and had 6 months millitary training, yes he serviced as petroleum mini under Obasonjo because of quoter sys, yes he striked shagari democratic govt in which Idiagbon was general acknowledge to be in charge during his regime( palace coup comes to mind). He was d PTF mini during Abacha regime which was mess with corruption. Mind u, during d millitary era, junior officers pick up arms and overthrown d senior officers and declear themselves as general. Buhari, Obasanjo, Babagida etc were never qualified to be a General as of the time they attain the rank, they all gave themselves...... Been a general doesn't translate to be a degree holder, it been a long way coming, it was really a dark era indeed...

I was also surprised by the DPO response. I would love to consult an attorney but where is the fund? maybe I should just go to my NYSC state Secretariat to inform the state coordinator atleast my welfarism should also be their concern.

I'm currently a corp member serving in one of the eastern states. I rented a room self contain of 171k plus 10k agent fee in February. I paid to the man managing the property through mobile transfer and I was issued a receipt. however the manager of the lodge as been at large since May due to some of his criminal activities. Last week Saturday, the owner of the house came around and said she never knew there is a tenant in the room because the runaway manager never remitted the money to her account and the receipt he issued to me is fake. now, she says I should vacate my room before Saturday. I frankly told her that it highly impossible because before I paid the then manager I spoke with her and she told me to go ahead with the payment and fortunately for me, the audio recording of the conversation is still on my phone. I told her it's management problem and none of mine, so she should go after d runaway manager and retrieve her money, however, she refused to listen and stood her ground. Yesterday evening when I came back from my PPA, the security man told me he has been instructed by madam to lock my room. I called her immediately and she told me I should pay her 60k because I have 3 months to round-off my programme and again she can't bear the loose alone. I told her I don't have the money and I cut the call. I called police DPO of my area and informed him about the issue, he just laughed and said "she's a big madam just try and plead with her". please what's the way out?
