Resident Doctors at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, Ogun State, say they have begun strike after their negotiations with the state government for improved pay collapsed. The doctors had embarked on a three-day warning strike over the same issue which led to negotiations between them and the state government. It was learnt that the doctors under the aegis of the Association of Resident Doctors at the OOUTH were unable to reach agreements with their employers on some of their demands. In their letter to Governor Dapo Abiodun, they claimed the state government was not committed to their welfare. The letter jointly signed by the union’s president, Dr Popoola Mutiu, and the general secretary, Dr Osundara Tope, said the association had resolved to work only week days and stay at home during weekends. They said they would review the decision depending on the response of the state government. The doctors however said their members working at the COVID-19 isolation centres would not be part of the strike. Speaking on how the meeting between the government and the association went, the doctors lamented that the government seems invisible to them. The letter added, “when we suspended our industrial action after the warning strike, we had hoped that the government was ready to look into it, the data about the issues were provided, but alas, like the proverbial cutlass, it still landed on the flat side! The sincerity on the government’s side is invisible to us. “We want to believe the government will relate with us over this concerns and agitations in fairness and equity. “This should be the principle of justice expected of Ogun State Government for our common good and the valuation is of supreme ethic which should reflect in our dealings with the government. “The government should at least bring us to be at par with the way our colleagues in other places in Nigeria are paid for their worthy healthcare delivery. “That should be the minimum, considering that the issues have been over three years standing. If they were unwilling before, is this not the time to now be humane and fair in the treatment of their frontline workers in this battle against COVID-19? Instead, what we have heard is that they have increased our hazard allowance by 300%. “This would sound like something big, but to be exact, it is only an increment of N15,000 in our salary, which is still a far cry from the normal salary of our colleagues in other institutions in Nigeria. “Now is that too much to ask, just pay us what is our normal due, to end this unfair disparity that pre-dated COVID-19.” https://punchng.com/oouth-doctors-begin-strike-as-negotiations-collapse/ https://platformtimes.com.ng/2020/05/22/ogun-doctors-begin-strike-as-meeting-with-government-hits-brick-wall/

Jamesbiodun:What area in Lagos |
With the lockdown of over 14 days gone, and having been extended with 14 days, I wonder how Nigerians, especially the poor will pull through this. Kindly share how the lockdown has affected your area and what you predict would happen in the next 14 days. My area is Sagamu, Ogun state. It appears peaceful with few cars and motorbikes moving around. The numbers are increasing daily. Relief food materials not getting here and people are threatening to start going out because they can't bear the hunger anymore. Next few days will have more businesses reopening against the governments order. As at now food shops, pharmacies are fully opened. |

DONADAMS:Bro why worry yourself. Your result is normal so be happy. I disagree with the statement that African ECG results are always abnormal. I very seen too many normal ECGS. There's no ECG selectivity btw whites and blocks. Take it or leave it I almost didn't reply this cos I had earlier explained |
petengine:If this is the only abnormality on the ECG bro I think you're good to go. But if there are other abnormalities with it, then they'll raise an eyebrow. |
Lol. It's our work o. Soft work. Every line and curve there has what it denotes. All those big boxes and small boxes connotes timings and waves discharged by the heart all those Roman numerals and Vs have what they represent. All these are put together to make the reporting. It's very technical and gives headaches if one isn't grounded in the knowledge |
