Russia is defending itself before it's too late to do it. Before the war they told Ukraine to renounce NATO membership. They did not until it was too late. Also there was the issue of Donbass, where ethnic Russians were being maltreated. Please put America in Russian shoes if they would not do more than this. They may have underestimated the amount of western support for ukraine but they are far from being defeated. In fact they have not even started.
