President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said the Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, spoke out of ignorance when he accused the present government of illegally overdrawing the country’s central consolidated account. The account, domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria, was said to have been overdrawn to the tune of N4.7 trillion by the Buhari administration, an act the traditional ruler said contradicted Section 38 (2) of the CBN Act. “CBN claims on the FGN now tops N4.7 trillion — equal to almost 50 per cent of the FGN’s total domestic debt,” Mr. Sanusi said. “This is a clear violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007 (Section 38.2) which caps advances to the FGN at 5 per cent of last year’s revenues.” Mr. Sanusi also attacked the federal government’s plan to borrow $30 billion from foreign lenders to fund the budget and build infrastructure. He said no one will lend Nigeria money at a time it is operating five different tiers of foreign exchange rates. Mr. Buhari responded through his media aide, Garba Shehu, on Saturday night, saying the former CBN governor “doesn’t have his facts as far as those issues are concerned.” The president admitted that he ordered a massive borrowing from the CBN, but said the limit had not been pushed. “The issue in CBN, that government has overdrawn its Central Consolidated Account is true, but the overdrawing is within limits. “The overdraw does not exceed 1.5 trillion. It is incorrect to say, as he did that the account was overdrawn by 4.5 trillion,” he said. The response was posted by Mr. Shehu on his Twitter page, and he said the government still had sufficient fund in the treasury single account to clear its loan from CBN. “But even assuming that he was correct. This is a govt that has money in excess the amount he mentioned in the Treasury Single Account, TSA. “It is just like you, a bank customer operating two accounts, one in the red & the other, well funded to the point that it can at any time wipe the indebtedness on the other,” Mr. Buhari said. “Would any bank manager lose their sleep over this?” Mr. Sanusi had been attacking the Buhari administration’s economic policies for a while. On August 24, a week before Nigeria officially slipped into recession, the emir blamed the economic crisis on the incoherent policies of the federal government, and warned that Mr. Buhari may end his reign in the same manner as President Goodluck Jonathan. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/217031-emir-sanusi-ignorant-buhari-replies-n4-7-trillion-overdraft.html |

The legendary musician who was recently inducted into the Hard Rock Cafe has revealed how he was emotionally awashed from the series of event which had him donate his ‘ baby’ (guitar). “I was told that I would need to donate something I really love. This guitar is a part of my success story. I had wanted to give out another guitar but I was told it would have to be something special to me. So I asked my ‘baby’ if it wouldn’t mind being donated to the hall of fame. I told it that I would want it to be my ambassador to the world. That was how I reluctantly donated the guitar to Hard Rock,” he said. The ‘baby’ was reportedly bought for one pound nine shillings so many years ago. It was also the guitar the legend used for his award winning track, ‘Syncro System,’ that also earned him a Grammy nomination. Now,the legend has joined other international artistes including Elvis Presley, The Beatles and The Temptations whose memorabilia are displayed in the hall of fame. KSA, who clocked 70 recently, is still basking in celebration mood. He said the grand finale of his KSA @ 70 celebrations would be a concert staged in his honour and tagged ‘Sunny on Sunday,’ which would hold in Lagos this weekend.

Exactly four weeks after he made the threat to destroy his United States of America’s permanent residence permit card, otherwise known as green card, and relocate from the country, the Nobel Prize winner and literary icon, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has finally made real his threat and packed out of the US. While attending to questions from journalists on the sidelines of an education conference at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, yesterday, Soyinka revealed that he has already relocated from the US and has destroyed his green card. He said he has since returned to his home, in Nigeria. He said; “I have already done it. I have disengaged (from the United States). I have done what I said I would do. “I had a horror of what is to come with Trump… I threw away the (green) card, and I have relocated, and I’m back to where I have always been.” Meanwhile, one of Professor Soyinka’s media associates and former editor at The News Magazine, Mr. Kunle Ajibade, could not confirm the development to New Telegraph, saying it was still news to him. He said; “This is still news to me. But you all know Soyinka now. He is a dramatist and could have actually done it. But you should also know that he would come and meet you guys in Nigeria to tell you whenever he is doing that.” Professor Soyinka, on Wednesday, November 2, less than a week before the American Presidential election, had threatened to give up his permanent US residency if the candidate of the Republican Party and billionaire businessman, Donald Trump, emerged victorious in the election. The literary icon’s threat was not unconnected to Mr. Trump’s campaign promises to get tough on immigration. Soyinka had made the vow before a set of students at a seminar at Oxford University’s Ertegun House, US, threatening to leave the country if eventually Trump emerged the winner. “If in the unlikely event he does win, the first thing he’ll do is to say that all green-card holders must reapply to come back into the US. Well, I’m not waiting for that,” said Soyinka, who is scholar-in-residence at New York University’s Institute of African American Affairs this autumn. “The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up,” he said. But this is contrary to an earlier statement by Soyinka, which set January 20, 2017, as the deadline date he would destroy his card. Following the pressure from the public on social media who had demanded for the immediate relocation of the literary icon from the US in line with his vow, Soyinka had condemned the people’s call, saying he could not be pushed to take the action. The prolific writer, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986 and has been a regular teacher at US universities including Harvard, Cornell and Yale, while responding to questions on the reason behind his latest decision. https://newtelegraphonline.com/last-soyinka-leaves-u-s-destroys-green-card/

Emma Enuekwu, vice chairman of APC in Southeast, says that Igbos are defecting to the party because Buhari is executing projects in the zone - Enuekwu says that Igbos are beginning to have confidence in the new administration and are wiser after the 16-year rule of the PDP Emma Enuekwu, national vice chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Southeast, has said that the recent defections of politicians from the region to the ruling party is as a result of the commitment shown by President Muhammadu Buhari to execute vital projects in the zone. Enuekwu made this known to journalist on Thursday, December 1, at the party secretariat in Abuja after a meeting of southeast stakeholders, Premium Times reports. The meeting was to plan for fresh membership registration in the zone. According to him, Igbos are beginning to have confidence in the new administration and are wiser after the 16-year rule of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He said: “The problem with the south easterners before the election was that they felt that PDP was the proper party for the Igbo man which they came to realize lately was not true because they were disappointed. PDP was in power for 16 years and the Enugu-Onitsha road was not done, the Enugu-Port Harcourt road was not done, the second Niger Bridge was not done. “When they realized this, they are now seeing that Buhari who has been in power for a little over one year has paid contractors and started doing something about the Enugu-Onitsha road, the Enugu-Port Harcourt road and has started doing something on the second Niger Bridge within one year. “Because of the high level of integrity displayed by President Buhari, many people are anxious to join the party. Therefore, a lot of people that have moved from other parties and entered APC have not had the opportunity of being registered and therefore the leadership felt it necessary that these people be registered so that they can be part of the party ahead of the next general election.” Enuekwu noted that the APC will adopt manual registration which will also capture the biometrics of every member. Recall that some top Igbo politicians recently decamped to the APC, amongst which includes; Senator Jim Nwobodo, the first executive Governor of old Anambra state, Senator Fidelis Okoro, a senator between 1999 and 2007, Senator Uche Ekwunife, the erstwhile senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, and most recently Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, the former governor of Abia state.

Ouagadougou - Desperately poor Burkina Faso has known much turmoil over a half-century of independence, and is once again poised for battle, but this time its ambitious prime minister pledges it will be an "insurrection against poverty". "We are at a critical moment in our history. This is a programme of truth, a programme of rupture", Paul Kaba Thieba told AFP. Thieba, who cut his teeth in west African policy as an economist and central banker, is one of the architects of that rupture from Burkina's strongman past. His civilian-led government was formed following a rare victory of people power two years ago, as former leader Blaise Compaore was run out after trying to extend his 27-year rule. Now Burkina Faso is looking ahead with a $24.9bln, five-year development plan to rid itself of its unwelcome distinction as one of the world's poorest countries. "We succeeded with the popular insurrection [against Compaore]. We were victorious in resisting the coup d'etat", Thieba said in an interview, referring to a September 2015 coup attempt by Compaore loyalists. "There is one insurrection left to win, and that is the insurrection against poverty". Burkina President Roch Marc Christian Kabore will lead a delegation to a donors conference in Paris next week on Wednesday and on Thursday aiming to raise $9.1bln in loans. No handouts Thieba says the state will finance $15.9bln of its development plan with "our own resources" - a heady claim for a nation whose annual budget in 2016 weighed in at $2.8bln and whose top exports include cotton and sesame seeds. The goal, he said, was to bring the numbers of Burkinabe who live in poverty from today's staggering rate of 40% down to 35% in 2020, to create 50 000 new jobs and enact needed structural reforms. "We aren't going to Paris to ask for handouts but to build partnerships... If you just take the handouts... and don't make the structural reforms needed to allow those investments to take hold, then the whole thing serves no purpose," he said. President Kabore, who like Thieba also trained in economics and worked in banking before turning to politics, has laid out a progressive platform to modernise the nation of 17.4 million, ranked 183rd out of 188 on the UNDP human development index. Thieba said their plan included a focus on girls' education and family planning in a bid to lower the birth rate. "The rate of demographic growth is 3.1% per year. With economic growth at six percent, it is difficult to imagine reducing poverty", he said. He also said they hoped to harness new technologies to help the 80% of Burkinabe who eke out a scrappy existence on subsistence agriculture. "Fertile land throughout Burkina Faso is going unused, or is underutilised... The production techniques we employ produce weak yields," he said, citing average national yields of grain of 1.5 to two tonnes per hectare, compared with 10 to 12 tonnes in other states. "The Burkinabe people have to understand that financing the PNDES (development plan) is a patriotic act," he said. "The goal is to take control over our own destiny." http://m.news24.com/news24/Africa/News/burkina-faso-looks-to-wage-insurrection-against-poverty-20161201 |

Nollywood actress Queen Nwokoye has blamed trying to live up to people ’ s expectation for being the reason why Nollywood actors / actresses run out of money and start experiencing a form of retrogression . Speaking with BroadwayAfrica TV , Queen said: “I don ’t think it is because they are being extravagant, how many people are to begin with? The truth of the matter is a lot of people are known faces but they are not actually making the type of money people think they make. Then again , it is an individual thing, it is either you are here or you are there but the truth is a lot of people don ’t make that kind of money they think we have . Some people think we get paid 10 million for acting {laughs } so a lot of times , actors want to live up to false expectations from their fans and that is how they get into trouble . As far as I am concerned, if you are paid in Nigeria and you want a Gucci bag and you convert your Naira to dollars to go and buy it because Kim Kardashian is carrying it , it doesn ’t make sense because she earns dollars . So for me it is not about being extravagant, everybody loves the good things of life but you have to draw a balance. It is about not truly making that huge amount that actors and actresses make.” On trading her stardom for her privacy, Queen said: “We enjoy the stardom and attention but sometimes you just want to walk past unnoticed and just be yourself but I wouldn’t give this up for anything in the world . I love it and appreciate it .” |

Paul Pogba has admitted that Manchester United fear they may be “cursed”, because of their ill-luck. The Red Devils have drawn their last four league fixtures at Old Trafford, despite dominating most of those games and Pogba revealed the players cannot believe their luck. Their 1-1 draw with West Ham on Sunday, leaves them 11 points behind leaders Chelsea and the £89.3million man says they deserve better. He told SFR Sport: “We’re going to start thinking we’re cursed. “It doesn’t matter which team comes here, we dominate them, be it Arsenal or West Ham. “Our luck will change at one time or another and it’s then that we’ll have to take it. I’m still confident because we create chances. It will come. I’m confident in my team.” Pogba remains confident aht United will soon go on a winning run, despite “dropping silly points”. “We just have to pay attention to the small details,” he said. “Today we conceded a daft goal, against Arsenal it was also the small details. “I’m still confident it will come right. We are dropping silly points, but it will come.” |
Are girls generally heartless or does it depend on the girl in question? There is à reason behind it which is written below. A guy happened to lose the contact of his girlfriend who lives thousands of KM away. After few weeks of no contact, the girl decided to call her boyfriend. She did and after exchanging their love greetings, the guy apologised for the loss of contact. Both made up and became tighter lovers. However, few weeks later, the guy lost his mum and that kinda messed up his brain. He wasn't able to call the girlfriend for two days since he was greatly affected by the loss. When he finally called, he apologised and opened up to her, telling her about her mum' s death. Rather than consoling the boyfriend, she was not bothered about the boyfriend's loss and cared all about the guy keeping regular check on her. In addition, they planned getting married as soon as they are capable of being parents. Now, the question now is, 1. should the guy go ahead the marriage plan? 2. Are all girls normally this way or is it personal? 3. If the guy cancels the marriage plan, should he completely turn his back on her or keep her around as à girlfriend? NB. This is real life story and i would love sincere answers. |

Did you trade your senses for stupidity? Or were you born an idoliot? Where has it been heard that like terms produce force or develop à product? Magnetism, do like terms attract? Physics, like terminals of à cell, do they produce electricity? If à guy marries à guy, will à child ever be born? If humans divert to same sex marriage, won't they go into extinction? I know the idiots won't hold it in but i am prepared for your lunatic display. |
