Nigeria’s U17 team, Golden Eaglets on Wednesday lost 8 -1 to England in their opening match at the U19 Suwon Continental Cup at Suwon Sport Complex. England took the lead in the 19th minute with a header by Taylor Moore and a minute later Adam Armstrong ghosted through the Nigerian defence for the second goal. Thereafter, the Eaglets defence caved under waves of attack as Dominic Solanke and Armstrong added two goals in the 25th and 28th minute. Abdulrasaq Yusuf pulled a goal back for Nigeria with a well –taken shot in the midst of legs in the 35th to keep scores 4-1 in the first stanza. At the beginning of the second half, England continued where they left off in the first period with two quick goals through Callum Connolly and Patrick Roberts in the 46th and 49th minute respectively. Armstrong got the first hat trick of the tournament in the 70th minute and Roberts his second within minutes to spare to push England on top of the table on better goal difference after hosts Korea beat Iran on Tuesday. Nigeria and Iran will slug it out while Korea will tackle England in the next round of matches at the same venue on Thursday.

naijalander: naijalander:No love lost but learn from you mistakes. If you think all you said is true and Nigeria can stand without SE, then let them go and see them prosper! Maybe you should become Buhari's Special Adviser and tell him to keep wiping out peaceful protesters. I was in D.C the day Biafran protesters stormed White House and i was expecting them to act like Buhari but it never happened. You guys should keep making Igbos popular. A girlfriend of mine who happens to be Chinese asked me how Igbos and Biafra started. I got same question, one from Turkish origin and the other from Luthania. Let's make Lagos an autonomous state, then compare SE and SW. Bros, i think you're the ODE here! You lack sense of reasoning. You think like a person whose brain has been screwed! I'd prefer you mute cause i can use some silence now. |

Letters Of Supreme Court Justices Confirms PMB Is Against Judiciary, Rule Of Law – PDP The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the second letter of Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court Justice, has confirmed President Muhammadu Buhari’s unconstitutional attack against the judiciary and the rule of law. The PDP in a statement on Sunday signed by its national publicity secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, stated that “Nigeria’s democracy is indeed in grave danger. It therefore appears that we have returned to barracks rule through the ballot.” The opposition party also called on all stakeholders in the Nigerian State, the international community, the media, the civil society organizations (CSOs) and all well-meaning Nigerians to intervene and stop what it termed “constitutional rape” before it is too late. It stated further that Nigeria is sliding aggressively into anarchy “and this must not be allowed” The attention of the Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is once again drawn to another letter written to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and Chairman of the National Judicial Council (NJC), Justice Mahmud Mohammed dated 18 of October, 2016,in which Justice Nwali Sylvester Ngwuta, Justice of the Supreme Court accused former Governor of Rivers State and now Minister of transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, the former Governor of Abia State and now Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu and President Muhmmadu Buhari on their involvement and hot pursuit to induce and subvert justice in favour of the APC Governorship Candidates of Rivers State and that of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State who is to switch to APC if he had claimed victory at the Appeal Court. Ridiculous! This latest allegation is another indictment on the Executive Arm of Government and the serial complicity and involvement of the President, members and leaders of his Party, the APC, the DSS, especially, the former Governor of Rivers State who has been mentioned twice in both petitions written by the Honourable Justices of the Supreme Court within few hours interval. For emphasis, below is an excerpt from the Justice Ngwuta’s Letter narrating his meeting with Rt. Hon Amaechi who came at the instance of President Buhari: “On my return he came in the evening and even before he sat down he barked “You have seen Wike”….Then he made a call and ask me to speak with someone. The man he called said he was a DSS man….Next he said “Oga is not happy”. I asked him who is the unhappy “Oga” and he answered “Buhari”. I retorted “go and talk to his wife”. He got very angry, and left, remarking “we shall see” several times.” However, we are not surprised with the mention of President Buhari in the Statement by Justice Ngwuta because President Buhari has left no stone unturned to confirm the fact that he detests the Judiciary and the Rule of Law as seen in his body language and actions since he assumed office. Below comments also buttresses his detest and hostility towards the Nigeria Judiciary: “On the fight against corruption vis-à-vis the Judiciary, Nigerians will be right to say that is my main headache for now.In my first attempt in 2003, I ended up at the Supreme Court and for 13 months I was in Court. The second attempt in 2007, I was in Court close to 20 months and in 2011, my third attempt, I was also in Court for nine months. All these cases went up to the Supreme Court until the fourth time in 2015, when God agreed that I will be President of Nigeria.” (President Buhari, February 2016). Nigerians will also recall that it’s not only President Buhari that is striving strongly to derail our nascent democracy, but his Party National Chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun who once lambasted the Judiciary on the Outcome of the Supreme Court Judgment in Rivers and Akwa Ibom States Gubernatorial Elections on grounds of business and investments. He said: “I still find the judgment on the Rivers State Governorship Election totally astonishing. There is something fundamentally wrong in the Judiciary. We have lost very important resource-richstates to the PDP. No matter how crude oil prices have fallen, it is still the most important revenue earner for the Country. There is obviously something fundamentally wrong in Rivers State which needs to be investigated and addressed.” From the two statements of President Buhari and Chief John Odigie Oyegun, National Chairman, All Progressive Congress (APC) above, it is obvious that the Judiciary can be said to have functioned appropriately only when they and their Party wins a Case. Otherwise, the Judiciary must be punished. How ridiculous! On this note, it has become clearer that the present ordeals of judges in the hands of President Buhari’s DSS are the fulfillment of series of threats by President Buhari, Hon. Amaechi and Odigie Oyegun? Consequently, we wish to sadly conclude that Nigeria’s democracy is indeed in grave danger. It therefore appears that we have returned to barracks rule through the ballot. To this end, we are further calling on all stakeholders in the Nigerian State, the international community, the media, the civil society organizations (CSOs) and all well-meaning Nigerians to intervene and stop this constitutional rape before it is too late. Nigeria is sliding aggressively into anarchy and this must not be allowed. Nigeria belongs to all of us irrespective of party affiliation, tribe and religion. This APC led Government of President Buhari must be stopped forthwith from these reckless acts of impunity as it is no longer acceptable. God bless Nigeria. Signed: Prince Dayo Adeyeye National Publicity Secretary |

– Senator Ben Bruce has made statements regarding the Nigerian economy – Ben Bruce says the Venezuela’s economic state is a warning to Nigeria – The Senator says Nigeria must learn to grow using Anambra as a model Senator Ben Bruce has said that the nation with the largest reserves of crude oil in the world is Venezuela, but the crude oil could not save Venezuela from crumbling economically. Senator Ben Bruce says Nigeria must learn that having oil does not mean that the economy cannot be crippled. Ben Bruce noted that the desperate economic decline in Venezuela, the nation with the world’s largest oil wealth under her ground is a warning to Nigeria. He said: “We must look beyond oil or we are at risk of experiencing the same fate. My people consider that nations like the US and UK who used to buy Nigeria’s oil no longer buy our oil. As a matter of fact, America now plans to sell her own oil. In other words our buyers are now our competitors. Currently, royalties from oil accounts for 90% of our total government spending. Many people have said that this means without oil Nigeria could not function. Perhaps this thinking is itself the problem. Let us take the case of Anambra state and make it a test state for how we could possibly get out from the oil boom and bust cycle. Anambra is not an oil producing state in that it does not have oil in commercial quantities yet it does not take loans or owe workers salary. According to the United Nations, Anambra has one of the lowest poverty rates in Nigeria at 11.2% which places her ahead of 33 states. Twenty years ago Anambra and other Southeast states lagged in education and had poor boy child school enrollment, but today Anambra leads the nation in WASSCE results. For the past three years Anambra has had over 60% pass rates in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination. They have made the best improvements in education in the whole nation and the state government even supports private schools financially. But look at those states that thrive by depending solely on federal allocation. They are broke, cannot pay salaries and are so debt ridden, banks will not lend to them any more. Worst of all is that these states are performing woefully in education. There is something to be learned from Anambra. Is it their policy? Is it their budgeting practice? Is it their sense of community? Whatever it is, it is working! The Federal Government and other states should study what Anambra state has been doing right and replicate it nationally Anambra proves that Nigeria does not need oil to thrive. What Nigeria needs to thrive is education. What is under the ground of this nation is chicken change compared to what is between the ears of our people.” The social-media savvy senator has said that twenty years ago the southeast states lagged in education and had poor boy child school enrollment, today they lead in WASSCE results. He noted that Abia, Anambra, Rivers and Imo state came first, second, fourth and fifth respectively. Ben Bruce also commend Edo for coming in at third. Senator Bruce said the Federal Government and other states should study what these states have been doing right and replicate it nationally. |
SamuelAnyawu:Going to shower simply means going to bath. Why won't you Nigerians analyze things rightly? Haven't you ever said that you're gonna shower but you've got no shower in your bathroom? You guys keep protecting the government. Should i tell you, only two things deserve respect in Nigeria, Our Movie and Our Music Industry. Everything other thing deserves no respect. I'm still working on a sniper gun that can be shot in Cape Town and it'll kill Buhari in Aso Villa. Open your eyes and stop protecting these blood thirsty vampires. Unless they give you a share out of those looted funds. |
