Why do Nigerian government Parastatals love destroying everything they seize ?

For example, the army seized some items when they invaded some places in Imo state. An entire cement shop was set ablazed. Even sport bike and cars. They could just auction these goods and pay the money to government account or even send it to an agency in charge of handling seized goods.

The one that pains me more is drugs being destroyed because they are contraband. How can a sane person destroys cocaine worth 194Billion Naira ?. That's very bad. They could have known that hospitals use cocaine to carry out surgeries and there are other uses of these drugs that are relevant to people.

We see these things everyday. The government need to start reasoning from another angle instead of destroying everything they touch.

If they need someone to show them how to harness seized goods, they should set up an agency for it. I will be willing to work as a volunteer though.
