Twelve Igbo youth leaders escaped death in Abuja last Thursday while purportedly on their way to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan, The PUNCH has learnt. Leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing told our correspondent on Monday that the aborted visit to the Villa was at the instance of President Jonathan. National Organising Secretary, Ohanaeze Youth Wing, Mr. Okechukwu Isiguzoro, alleged that someone who claimed to be Dr. Reuben Abati, Special Assistant to the President on Media, had invited them last Wednesday to meet with Mr. President on Thursday, April 11, 2013 by 4.00pm. He said, “The so-called Reuben Abati purported that Mr. President wished to dialogue with Igbo youth leaders having done so also with the Arewa and Yoruba youth leaders.” Isiguzoro, who was part of the trip to Abuja, said they all travelled by night bus that fateful day after clearing with some of their elders. He said, “At Abuja, the representatives of the so-called Abati lodged us in a hotel at Gwagwalada, remote outskirts of Abuja. “In the morning of Thursday, April 11, 2013, three vehicles came to the hotel to take us to Aso Rock Villa. But Instead of heading for the Villa, the vehicles sped off to Suleja and we had to query the drivers. “As an argument raged on along the way, security agents stopped the vehicles at a checkpoint. Rather than stop, the drivers sped off into the bush.” He said, “We had to trek back to the checkpoint and narrated our encounter with the unknown men to the security agents. “The security men came to the scene and later towed the vehicles to their base. Investigations are still on however.” Isiguzoro said no one knew the intentions of those behind the attempt on their lives, but said it is suspected that it was a set up to wipe out some Igbo youths leaders. “The real Reuben Abati should take up the matter immediately as what happened showed that some people have been impersonating him. “The circumstances that led to the incident is bizarre and shocking,” he added http://www.punchng.com/news/igbo-youth-leaders-escape-death-in-abuja/ |

You are welcome Ikenna. Afam and OAM4J are trying too but the virus has eaten us deep here. This tribalism of a thing especially between Igbo and Yoruba must stop. Northerners should also not to be seen as people from another planet. All the southerners should be warned. Congrats on the new responsibility! |
There is more to his resignation. |
Don’t soil your reputation, Bakare tells Kolade CONVENER of Save Nigeria Group,SNG, and General Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has called on the Chairman of Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, implementation monitoring team, Chief Christopher Kolade to resign so that he can prevent his reputation from being soiled by the current allegations of non- performance by the board. He also regretted the delayed trial of those alleged to have stolen fuel subsidy funds, arguing that it was an indication that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had overbearing influence over other arms of government. Briefing newsmen yesterday in Lagos, Bakare said the SNG would soon take a stand on the pardon granted to former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Deiprieye Alamieyeseigha. According to him: ‘’If people are saying that the PDP is sharing the subsidy reinvestment fund, I would not be surprised. If PDP does not share the money, who will? Do you think the PDP has good intentions? I felt pity for Dr. Christopher Kolade when he was appointed to head that committee. He is a man with good reputation but appointing him at 80 to head that committee, was a way of soiling his good reputation. With the kind of allegations coming up on how the funds are being managed, the best thing for him to do is to resign. I hope he withdraws or resigns before he is messed up, because you cannot expect anything good from the PDP.’’ ‘’The reason why you cannot see good judgment on the prosecution of those, who allegedly stole fuel subsidy funds is because there is connivance between all arms of government to subjugate the country. The PDP gave the indication when it said it would rule for sixty years. And they have formed a merger with the senate, judiciary and other arms of government to realise that dream.’’ Bakare added that ‘’Alamiesyeigha is not the issue if the looting in Bayelsa State is not addressed. SNG would soon take a stand on the matter. I cannot see any hope in our future except through cleansing, show me any nation that has democracy and development without revolution.’’ http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/04/dont-soil-your-reputation-bakare-tells-kolade/ |
He was advised to resign just last week by Pastor Tunde Bakare. |
