Trust the Nigerian. Our sheer capacity to seize any sublime idea and grotesquely trivialise it! In every sphere of life, there is nothing serious or sacred, solemn or fundamental, whose essence and ethos the Nigerian cannot violate and destroy. Even religion. But here, no news any longer! Every fraudster in town whose talent is not as great as to be successful, say in advance fee fraud, or has no access to government funds, would set up his own church and use that to defraud both unsuspecting and even suspecting seekers for a good life. And how many Nigerians are not so seeking, given the immense poverty that pervades the society.
When the “IMF logic” of deregulation travelled from the economic sphere in Nigeria to the social, the universities were declared free of government monopoly. In other climes, and among a different sort of people, this would have been embraced as an opportunity to release the genius in society which would lead to the building of great institutions of learning, research and leadership training. The experience, as you would expect here, has been different.
First it started with older Christian religious institutions, some of which were becoming richer than even state governments, and was soon followed by “privately owned” Pentecostal denominations where a single, charismatic individual, very much in the transposed image of the African despot, wields power and spiritual authority. Before long, private moralities in the guise of Pentecostal rectitude started to prevail over intellectual nourishment in these so-called “universities”, which I prefer to call private stations. 
The “universities” were in some cases merely an extension of the ego of the African Pentecostal Big Man, the man in whom God has not only invested authority, but in whom it pleases God to repose exclusive wisdom, spiritual and temporal. As might be expected, the old moralities of the Middle-Ages which were more celebrated than observed in the pre-1980s Nigerian high schools – particularly those with boarding houses – were re-imposed in the private stations.
New moralities that came in tow with new-age Pentecostalism, as markedly different from the “indigenous” forms that were the province of the early Aladura form of Pentecostalism, were also added. In some of the stations, because the Church owning them observes “no meat” policy, vegetarianism is imported into the Holy Bible and imposed on the students. In others, because “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” – except, of course, the spiritual leader – thou shall not use mobile phones. And, on the pain of death, more or less, these rules are rigidly applied. In one, those who break the spiritual covenant are promptly excommunicated. Any female student, even past 18, who gets her hymen broken, is ejected from the province of eternal grace, which the premises of the Church/“university” constitute.
But even these excesses were reconcilable, for some, with the absolute decline in social moralities and the descent into an abysmal social hell that has been the experience in Nigeria in the last two decades or more. But often times, the religious actors, that is most of those entrepreneurs who create jobs for themselves and others in the name of religion, mirror this decline in morality and even intellect, than the much-accused, much-abused, and much-violated contemporary youth. Anyway, that is just by the way.
What has brought home that national ailment, our incapacity as a people to treat any zone as safe from perversions and trivialisation is fully manifesting itself in the craze for private “universities”. People now wake up on the wrong side of the bed and head for the National University Commission, that curiously obliging institution, with an application letter. By evening, to dramatise the tragedy, they have, safely tucked in their cabinet, an approval to open a university of their own.
When recently I was engaged in a discussion with fellow academics on this scandalous trend that is further confirming that we have no future as a collective people, I wondered what the statistics, infrastructure, and academic personnel, not to talk of resources that my own state of Osun, has to warrant the presence of about seven “universities” there. Apart from the Obafemi Awolowo University, the Ladoke Akintola University, jointly-owned with Oyo State, has a campus there, I was told. Then the state governor, desiring his own “visitor” status, created another university for the state. This is apart from the one owned by the Baptists in Iwo, Bowen. Then there is one at Ikeji-Arakeji – don’t ask where that is – owned by another Church, called Joseph Babalola University. There is another one called Fountain. I was told about yet another one which name I now conveniently forget.
But while we were at that, someone who listened in to our discussion volunteered that Ogun State has much more than that. Which reminded me of an earlier conversation with Dr. Said Adejumobi, the former Lagos State University don, who counted the number of university sign-boards he encountered during a trip between Lagos and Ibadan and concluded that we were an unserious people. The trouble is not, of course, with the number. Given our objective reality, the number is only a reflection of a deep malaise.
Trust the Nigerian senior academic. Our professors are climbing over one another to head these new private stations. And these days, the new Vice Chancellor is not the stately and deliberate Professor Jacob Ade Ajayi, he is not the prudish and widely celebrated Professor Kenneth Dike, the new vice chancellor is, with few exceptions, a mirror of the Pentecostal lords; boisterous and brash and SUV-driving; complete, on occasion, with another professor as his Chief of Staff!
The full complement of this absurdity is emerging. During a recent visit to my own “old” university, the one and only Ibadan, in a conversation with a senior colleague in the front yard of the Social Science Faculty, we saw a professor drive by in an SUV, on which Nigerians call imposed a generic name of “Jeep”, my host then disclosed that the vehicle was given to his colleague for a university that was in the works – yet to be registered! If that was not bad enough, he added that a couple who just made a kill at the Stock Exchange came to meet another professor friend to ask him to prepare the modalities for owning a university of their own. At that point, I gave up. A friend who believes that this country is a comedy for those who think, accused me of giving up out of envy; because, he claimed, I could not muster enough funds, as they say, to start my own university.
Here then, to those who can help; I want a university of my own.

Below seems to be the aftermath of the serious ritual cases in Ondo. Indeed, God will help us.

Ondo speaker raises the alarm over ritualists’ activities

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Bakitta Bello, has raised the alarm over the rising incidence of ritual killings in the state.

The Speaker raised the alarm on Friday during his visit to the shrine of a group of suspected ritualists who were arrested by agents of the State Security Service. The Speaker in company with his deputy, Mr. Mayowa Akinfolarin, were led to the shrine by the State SSS Director, Mr. Boma Spero-Jack.

Addressing journalists at the shrine, Bello said that cases of missing persons were on the increase in the state because of the activities of ritualists. He said, “Many of our people have fallen victim to ritualists. The most annoying part of it is that they rape and defile both the young and the old after defrauding them. We cannot fold our hands and watch them continue in their activities.”

He called on the people of the state, especially ladies, to always go to designated motor parks to board vehicles whenever they were travelling. According to him, many passengers have been duped and others killed by ritualists who posed as drivers on the highway.

Bello also advised the SSS to take over the shrine, adding that the House would deliberate on the matter when it resumed sitting. The SSS arrested four suspected ritualists on Tuesday when its agents invaded the shrine located at the Araromi area of Akure. The alleged leader of the gang known as Ekun was arrested during the operation.

A student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, simply identified as Ganiyat, was rescued during the operation. However, a 32-year-old married woman, Funmilayo, said she was defrauded and raped by four members of the gang.

In the last regime, an Igbo was a commisioner in Lagos state
A Yoruba was a special adviser to Orji Uzor Kalu (I know him personally)
A Yoruba was also a special assistant to Nnamani of Enugu state

In the current regime,

One Igbo is a commissioner, and another a special assistant in the current Lagos state govt.

That is the beauty of the so-called one Nigeria.

What has happenned in Kano shows the strenght of the residents of Sabon Gari, and the fact that they can also play politics the Nigerian way.

Why Yoruba lost out in Kano LG election

The political permutation of the Yoruba resident in Sabo-Gari, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State failed them in the just-concluded local government election in the state. Kola Oyelere reports that the Igbo in the community were the beneficiaries of the loss which is now causing ripples among the Yoruba.

SABO-GARI is a well known area in the ancient city of Kano. It was exclusively carved out by the host community several years back for people regarded as non-indigenes. It has been in existence for long under Fagge Local Government Area of the state.


Most people resident in this area are Igbo, Yoruba, the South-South people as well as some Northern minority ethnic srock like people from Kogi State, Benue State, Plateau State, Southern Kaduna and a host of others. Towards the end of his first tenure of four years, Kano State governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, appointed three non-indigenes as special advisers on intercommunity relations. This position was spread across three blocs. Alhaji Adebayo Adeniyi Mikail represented the South West; Chief Chris Azuka, the South East; and Dr. Ahmed Salahudeen, an Ebira from Kogi State, represented the minority tribes from the North.


The gesture was hailed especially by non-indigenes resident in the state as a development that would make them feel the impact of government as well as make government know the problems they faced. The position given to non-indigenes really assisted in stabilising peace in no small measure. It not only gave the non-indigenes room to express their feelings, but also brought them various financial assistance from the government. It is on record that a segment of the community of non-indigenes, through Alhaji Mikail, got funds from the state government to assist either in renovation or completion of their mosques, while others were given buses. Some hajj slots were also benefitted from the government.


When Malam Shekarau got re-elected, to the delight of the non-indigenes, he re-appointed the special advisers. However, recent development, especially as regards the last local government election in the state, is causing ripples within members of the non-indigene community in the state. Before the election, the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) members in the state felt that the best way for the party to capture the two seats in Fagge Local Government Area was to present common candidates who would have the backing of every tribe or, at least, reflect the arrangement in the previous election in which the Igbo and Yoruba shared the seats .


Sabo-Gari, under Fagge Local Government, has two councillorship seats which are Sabo-Gari West and East. During the first tenure of Malam Shekarau, the two seats were shared between the ANPP and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). While an Igbo emerged candidate for ANPP in the East, a Yoruba got the West. But the popular view at the beginning of Shekarau’s second term was that the ANPP should capture the two seats. Those who were of this view expressed the belief that it would show their appreciation to his administration over its encouragement of peaceful co-existence of tribes in the state during his first tenure.


Investigations revealed that politicians from two blocs in the ANPP; the Yoruba and the Igbo, entered into an agreement that since the Igbo had produced the candidate for Sabo-Gari East, the Yoruba should produce that of Sabo-Gari West as previous elections had always gone along this arrangemet. However, unknown to the Yoruba, a member of the House of Representatives hsd a contrary plan which he had allegedly been making underground.


It was disclosed that the lawmaker, who was allegedly nursing moves to undemine Shekarau’s powers, believing that the governor constituted an impediment to his governorship ambition in 2011, decided to use the councillorship seat allocated to the Yoruba to settle a political score. He was reported to have said that the Yoruba might campaign against him in support of Shekarau’s candidate ”because of a Yoruba man very close to the governor.


He then told the aspirant to the Igbo slot not to go into any alliance. He also reportedly directed his foot soldiers to ensure that a primary election was conducted to elect his candidate for Sabo-Gari West, having equipped them financially and promised them tangible positions if they should ensure the failure of the Yoruba aspirant, Alhaji Abduljelili Soga, to emerge. Eventually, his candidate emerged for Sabo-Gari West, thus paving the way for the Igbo to grab the two seats.


However, the President General, Yoruba Community in Kano, Dr. Jimpat Aiyelangbe, wrote a letter dated October 29, 2007 to the state chairman of the ANPP, Alhaji Sani Hotoro. Entitled: “ANPP Councillorship in West Ward of Sabo-Gari”, the letter complained of the emergence of candidate of a single tribe for the two councillorship seats “despite the gentleman agreement previously reached.”


Aiyelangbe said the ward was the only one won by the PDP in 2003 and that it was won by a Yoruba politician. “This will give you an idea about the majority held by the Yoruba in that ward. “After the kindness shown all the communities in Sabo-Gari by Governor Shekarau, everyone should be given the opportunity to reciprocate. I know that you are an able, honest and just chairman. Please rectify this issue before the end of the time limit.” he said. The letter was also copied to state governor and party state secretary, but nothing was done to rectify what the letter portrayed as at then. Even, another group, Yoruba Political Forum, (YPF), headed by Alhaji Ahmed Oni, had written to the state ANPP chairman complaining that even the position of supervisory coucillor promised the Yoruba had also gone to the Igbo.


Findings revealed that despite the fact that notable non-indigenes resident in the state sent emissaries to the ‘powerful lawmaker’ to implore him on the need to see reason with the planned allocation of the position of supervisory councilor to another tribe, he had been unbending. He was alleged to have said that his goals had been achieved and that he had cleared his opponents “by having full control of Fagge under my armpit.”


However, if the lawmaker should be blamed for scuttling the chances of the Yoruba in Sabo-Gari West, what would one say to the Yoruba themselves? It was clear that they would have won the election, but due to greed, selfishness and over-ambition, the three Yoruba candidates of three different political parties; Seyi Oloruntola of the Action Congress (AC); Alhaji Musibau Morindoti of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP); and Samuel Fadeyi of the PDP, saw no reason to forge a common front and support one of them to victory. They went out like a house divided against itself and lost collectively.


According to a member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Mr. Femi Adegoroye, had the candidates joined forces in support of one candidate, the election would have reflected different results. He said when the results were announced, Oloruntola got 221 votes, Morindoti got 285, while Fadeyi had 271. The ANPP candidate, Chibuzo Onyeaso, polled 670. Adegoroye added that “a concensus candidate among the three Yoruba men could have polled 777 to defeat the woman elected on the platform of the ANPP, Mrs. Onyeaso.”
He said no one could blame the Igbo community for what happened, adding that rather, “the Yoruba who failed to read the handwriting on the wall were to be blamed.[b][/b]


He said the Yoruba had to wait for another three or four years when another election is expected to be held. He said the question that should be agitating their minds was if they had learnt the mistakes now and were determined to correct it in future. Gladly, it has been learnt that it was not over yet for the Yoruba. The peace-loving governor of the state, Malam Shekarau, would find a way of thrusting some “good things” towards them, because, as a source who asked not to be named put it “he believes in fairness and justice.”

While not wanting to be drawn into the cesspit of nairaland tribalism, it seems apparent from the newspaper report above that native movie actors -these are mostly Yorubas- are finding it increasingly difficult to compete with their english movie counterparts. Lesson: people are doing what they can make the most money from. Na culture man go chop?

The frustration expressed by the interviewee above may also indicate that less and less people are watching native Yoruba movies, otherwise simple economics dictates that there should be a boom in Yoruba movies if people are really patronising them like English movies.

He was a popular face on the famous sitcom, Koko Close when he played the role of the quarrelsome landlord ( Chief Oluwalambe), in this interview with Jide Ajani and Olaolu Oladipo, he speaks on the epic programme, the movie industry where he reveals that he had never been paid more than N100,000. excerpts;


We want to know how your transition from employment in the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) to being a key player in the home video industry has been.

My former president in the ANTP, I am a member of the ANTP, though we have a number bodies now in the theater art industry. The former president,Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello) who is a close friend and associate brought me into the system. After my rehabilitation, I went to him and he encouraged me telling me I could still be very active, asking me if I could join them in the home video industry. Before I knew it, this popular guy, Muyiwa Ademola and one other producer approached me in my house in Ibadan. They said they wanted me to come and play a role in their movie.


I asked them to tell me how much they were going to pay me and they said they were going to pay me 3,500 Naira. I was shocked and I asked him what kind of money was that, I wanted to know if that was the kind of money they paid to artists then. He encouraged me, telling me that it was just the starting point. He told me that my consent would do the two of us a lot of good. I introduced the idea to my mother, my mum is somebody that is very close to me. So, I told my mum and she also encouraged me, telling me that God was behind me and I went. You won’t believe it that before the end of the month, a was in about three, four other locations, raking in little money, here and there. That was my entry into the home video industry.


What was the title of the film?


I think the title was Aderounke. That must have been that guy’s (Muyiwa Ademola’s) first or second film. When we were shooting the film, we carried cameras from one house to the other on our heads, there was no vehicles to move us but I thank God for the guy today, he rides on a jeep now that tells you how lucrative the industry is.


You have featured in many films since then, what was the highest amount of money you’ve ever been paid to feature in a movie?


Honestly, I don’t remember the last time I have been paid the sum of 100,000 Naira, the only time I was paid the sum of 120,000 was when I featured as Agboniregun in the epic Yoruba film Oduduwa, since then, I can’t remember having been paid over 100,000 Naira.

Some Nollywood actors are paid up to 1 million


There are so many groups in the Nollywood industry. If you look back at your participation , what gains has been achieved so far in the industry and where do you think attention should be focused on to move it forward?


If I understand your question very well, I will say we need to make improvement in all areas. I want to say that the question of Nollywood being the term to describe the industry is faulty. Probably because we have Hollywood in America, Bollywood in India and some people believe that the best term to describe the industry is Nollywood. Who is Nolly? Who is Wood? Let’s assume that the name Nollywood has come to stay to describe the Nigerian movie industry, is Nollywood being fair to the movie industry in Nigeria?


Then, do you suggest any name?


No, I can not. It only pains that the name has been hijacked by one ethnic group


Does that signifies a dichotomy in the industry?

Yes.


How serious is the dichotomy?


My brother, the dichotomy is very terrible.


Then, what suggestions do you to remedy the situation both in the long and short term as the industry is beginning to attract attention from all directions?

The way forward is that all stakeholders in the Nigerian movie industry come together to form a common body. There so many bodies or groups now.


A veteran like you, Chief Chike Okpala (aka Zebrudaya) said he decided not to be part of the home video industry because those in the industry are not well grounded?


Yes, I think he is right because, some of us doing it (home video) are in it because of our love for the profession. You need to see the kind of insults we get from some of these our younger colleagues on locations. Anybody can just accost you on the road, telling you he or she wants you to help facilitate her/his emergence as an actor just like that.


When we look at our brothers in the Igbo category of Nollywood, one would conclude that they area better organised than you people in the Yoruba category. Why so?


The average Igbo executive producer is first, a businessman. He has a very a strong network of marketing. Being used to trading, they (the executive producer) will go all the way to sell their films.

Nigerians mourn crash victims

A gruesome dimension was added to the tragic air crash involving a Bellview aircraft at Lisa Ogun State last Saturday when ritualists invaded the scene of the crash to look for pieces of flesh of human children. The ritualists who spoke in Yoruba while rummaging through the wreckage of the crashed plane last Sunday regretted that there were no children’s parts which they could take away ostensibly for rituals. While the ritualists were carrying out their bizarre search, smoke was till oozing from the ground at the scene of the crash when Vanguard left the scene last Sunday evening. The scene of the crash continued to be a beehive of activities last Monday. Scores of members of various search and rescue teams had besieged the scene of the crash last Sunday. Officials of the National Emerency Management Agency ( NEMA), were earlier seen at the sleepy village picking the pieces of roasted human flesh scattered all over the forest. The pieces of flesh were put in bags and taken away. Pieces of paper including identity cards and various types of documents were scattered all over the bush clearing which was obviously caused by the crash.

There is no way you can change this 2 types of hemoglobin from a phenotypic level.

Thanks for telling them. Apparently some Nigerians do not know a thing about genetics and molecular biology (gene, gene expression and gene product, the protein) and all the manipulations that modern genetic methods enable. The train of contemporary knowledge has left some far behind.

Sickle cell affects only blacks, and not white people, so you may not find his ''discovery'' in Nature or Science (if the owners of these reputable journals do not consider it a priority, since it does not affect their population). There are also many other equally reputable medical journals eg, the LANCET.

Lets wait for the details of his recent findings before we judge him. I shall try and keep track of him.

Fake Secondary School Uncovered In Yobe

A fake secondary school with ghost workers on government’s pay roll has been discovered following civil servants’ verification exercise embarked upon by the Yobe State government, Governor Mamman Ali has revealed.

The governor made the disclosure while addressing lawmakers at the Yobe State House of Assembly Damaturu, the state’s capital.

Ali said that a school which never existed was discovered, adding that the school even has “a ghost principal and other key officers as well as hundreds of students.”

The governor regretted that “some unpatriotic elements in the Ministry of Education as well as the Ministry of Finance created the ghost school which they used as conduit for siphoning money belonging to the government.”

He disclosed that a Government Secondary School was duplicated and another school named Government Science Secondary School was created even though only the first school exists, maintaining that “the two have the same nomenclature.

“Honourable Speaker, it will shock you to hear that a school in Fune Local Government, precisely Government Science Secondary School, Damagum was duplicated into two schools.

“All the teaching and non teaching staff of the school were transferred to the fake school. The same salary spent on the original school was also paid to the duplicated school. This is criminal,” the governor declared.

Governor Ali announced that the activities of the corrupt officials will not deter him from fishing out the ghost workers and completely sanitising the system.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa informed P.M.News that his ministry has beamed its searchlight on the UBE schools to come up with a realistic number of existing primary and secondary schools in the state.

Karasuwa condemned a situation where Junior Day Secondary Schools were established with existing primary schools to sustain them.

“Most of the Junior Day Secondary Schools that were established were unnecessary. How can you establish a secondary school where there are no primary schools to sustain such a school?” he queried.

He stated further that some of the schools were fake and non existent, while vowing that all the fake schools and fake staff of his ministry will be dislodged.

Igbo and Yoruba are clearly the two most educated group of Nigerians. These two are good depending on the field of study. Currently, I do not think one of them is significantly better than the other on overall basis.

ABAKALIKI—A United States-based Nigerian from Ebonyi State, Dr. Orji Agbai says he has found  treatment for Sickle cell anaemia and other ailments using a special food supplement called Dioscovite.
Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki on the outcome of what he referred to as a twenty four-year painstaking research effort, Dr. Agbai stated that Dioscovite is a patented dietary supplement for sickle cell anaemia, discovered by means of electron microscopy which he said shows that the active ingredient completely prevents sickling of red blood cells in the test tube.

According to him, “Dioscovite has safely prevented sickle cell painful crisis for 16 years, saved lives that had been given up for dead, by raising the hemoglobin (blood count) from 2.0 to 7.3g per cent, energizing the body, normalizing enlarged liver swollen abdomen, swollen hands and feet, and stopping painful sickle cell crisis that plagued a patient for ten months”.

The inventor noted that the food supplement has proved to be safe and effective in the support of not only sickle cell anaemia but also prostate health, breast health, colon health, diabetes, stroke control, heart health, uterine fibroids, menstrual cramps, and easier child birth.
He stressed that Dioscovite prevents what he called pneumoccocal and other infections because the active ingredient destroys pathogens (germs) by breaking the peptidglycan bonds in bacterial cell walls

Dr. Agbai maintained that Dioscovite which has yam as major component is a safe product, adding that its safety comes from the fact that the ingredients are nutrients found in staple foods eaten by over 500 million people worldwide.

“Such people consume the same amount of the nutrients as those who take the Dioscovite daily requirement. Dioscovite is so safe that double the therapeutic dose is still safe, showing that it has a high therapeutic index,” he stated.

He added that the food supplement also "converts SS to AS by restoring negative charge to SS hemoglobin enabling 6.0g SS hemoglobin to carry as much oxygen as 12.0g hemoglobin –– energizing the body!”.

If Obj was good, will some Yoruba want to hastily throw him away with the bath water the way they do now? The Man has affirmed time and time again that he is a Yoruba of Owu stock. No amount of bad belle-induced internal rejection can change that.

I hear many Yoruba people are not good in English Language. Could this move be a safe landing for them?

Chinese refinery experts arrive Anambra for Orient

The Anambra State governor, Governor Peter Obi, will in the next few weeks, play host to a team of Chinese energy experts being expected to continue with the major structural and engineering work at Orient Petroleum Resources Plc refinery project in Nsugbe Umuleri.

The scheduled visit by the technical team, from Beijin Petrochemical Design Institute, which won the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPC) contract, is to enable contractors and managers of the project to fastrack remaining structural and engineering works at the project site to attain a satisfactory level of completion by the middle of 2008.

On arrival, the team is billed to hold talks with directors of the refinery and other stakeholders in the project before moving to begin work on the 55,000 barrel per day refinery expected to come on stream by 2009.

According to the Managing Director of the company, Mr Nnaemeka Nwawka, the coming of the Chinese experts will help upscale activities on the project which comes on stream in 2009.
When operational, the managing director, who said the OPR will be the first ever new full conversion private refinery to commence operation in Nigeria, observed that it was a landmark achievement for the promoters of the project, which will produce a full range of transportation fuel and other hydrocarbons including premium motor spirit, diesel and kerozine among other products.
He explained that opportunities still exist for private investors wishing to be part of the project by way of private placement.

He said the coming of the refinery would only work to complement the commercial and trading skills of the Anambra people who are known for their enterprise spirit, stressing that the paradigm shift which OPR represents will bring about significant growth in manufacturing.
He explained that such a development would create phenomenal socio-economic improvement in the state.
Orent Petrochemical Refinery is a private sector initiative between the government of Anambra State, Rivers and other stakeholders.

Wilbros Scandal: Obasanjo Defends Soleye

Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has come to the defence of Chief Onaolapo Soleye, who was named in the $6 million bribe scandal involving top Nigeria government officials and an American oil service firm, Wilbros Group.
He said over the weekend that no Owu son would be found guilty in such a scandal.
The former president was reacting to reports which alleged that Soleye, a one-time finance minister during the Muhammadu Buhari military government, was offered part of the $6 million bribe in the deal to secure contracts from the Federal Government.
Obasanjo, at the occasion of the 16th National Convention of Owu nation held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, said: "The Owus are not rogues. If any Owu son or daughter is found to be involved in any shoddy deal, then such child's paternity is in doubt."
He told the large gathering of Owu sons and daughters, which included the former Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Bola Ajibola, the Olowu of Owu-Abeokuta, Oba Adegboyega Dosumu, and other Owu obas in the country, that they should be ready to fight war of multiple identities and dignity.
He explained that the Owus were known to be stubborn and firm because they would not entertain any nonsense from anybody.
He urged the people of the kingdom to come together and champion a common front as well as empower the less privileged in the society.
Also former Minister of Special Duties, Elder Wole Oyelese, who spoke at the event, took a swipe at Obasanjo’s critics, saying the former president had laid a solid foundation for the future generation of the country

I am a teacher with 50 students in my class, Odenson (Another teacher) has just 5 students in his class. Only 3 of my students passed with flying colors, while the remaining 47 failed woefully. In the case of Odenson, 3 of his students passed with flying colors while the other two failed woefully. . . Lo and behold, I stand up and flex my muscles declaring my students are in the same league with Odenson's students. . . na real wa for WAEC o. Simple mathematics people no fit do

I think this is pure comedy.

Your logic is correct, since a far greater precentage of your student failed woefully, in comparison to your friend's. So, it is either that you are a bad ''tisha''  , or that your students are olodos of the highest order
