Is it not weird and disturbing that rather than put the interest of the nation uppermost by applying the immense potential of the Nigerian Senate to the hilt, we are at each other’s throat on the inconsequential matter of why DR BUKOLA SARAKI should not be Senate President and why Senator Ike Ekweremadu from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ought not to be his deputy? Just when we thought we had the change we desired after being forced with different shades of the same color for 16 years, some citizens are foisting on us needless distractions about the ineligibility of the Senate President simply because he is said not to be the choice of the party in power, All Progressives Congress (APC)...

We have suffered and learnt a lot in the last 16 years. The personalities that head our NASS now matter to us as patriotic citizens. We find it consequential that J.J Okocha and other people's money were alleged stolen by the one you want us to accept. Have you also read about Trade Bank allegation?

And more recently your Hero connived with a handful of others to significantly alter, without any legal grounds the, the Senate standing rules. Brazen lawlessness like this is exactly why most of us opted for Buhari-Led-APC 2015. Saraki ascendance to SP is bringing back the bad taste we fought hard to spit off.

...We should handle this matter with extreme care so it does not get out of hand to topple the noble vision of APC and deny us the much needed skills and experience of SARAKI. If all we do in tackling this issue is to personalise it by putting SARAKI at its center, APC shall be destroying its goodwill and rubbishing its national mandate. To harp on a so-called pursuit of disciplining its erring lawmakers as some of the party hawks are insisting is a lack of understanding of the balance between national interest and party supremacy.

Much needed skills indeed - aptitude in making other people's money disappear? Altering a Standing rules of 109 membered Senate without any legal grounds? Conniving with oppositions to spite his own party? Rejecting all entreaties of his own party to accommodate other interests?

We dont need fraudulent skills no more. We have tried those for 16 years and we earnestly yearn for change - in Buhari we trust.

Less than 100,000 people voted Saraki in Kwara to get to the Senate while 15 Million voted for Buhari to lead us. The mandate Saraki and many others are enjoying is mainly because of Buhari's popularity. In Buhari-Led-Mandate we believe, we wont miss your man.

...There are stages of policy and diplomacy evolution when party gives way to patriotic instincts. And there are events that dictate that party surrender its stand to the state. No nation in modern times since the advent of party politics allows party sentiments to subdue its corporate essence. Of course this is not to diminish the role of the party to the point of instigating a revolt. No!
But what we must note is that we are unwittingly giving scant attention to the time we are wasting in not addressing the core of the matter.

Unrepentant people with questionable characters and past do not deserve benefits of any 'patriotic instincts'.

The core matter now is that 80% of the population (including my very self) are living below poverty line while Saraki and a 100s of others share Billions on clothing.

...This core is that the legislature is the hub of representative democracy. If you have a robust legislative house, you will have an equally robust executive to administer the country. This would trickle down to engendering a strong social, judicial and economic superstructure. Why? The chamber of the lawmakers is where you brew an enduring canon of good governance that drives society and development.
The president is only symbolic of the spirit of government. The legislative arm is the pilot of the system, wheeled by a conscientious judiciary and an impartial and fearless media. Remove the legislator or neutralize him and the whole system corrupts, collapses, crashes, dies.
And judging from what has taken place, the business of government has been mired in the mud of the unnecessary quarrel over the headship of the National Assembly. President Muhammadu Buhari appears hesitant to present his cabinet to the Senate led by a man over whom his party is split.

My friend if we decide what is best for us at this time is to do without 469 Nigerians taking home 10-20% of our national budget we wont be the first country to do that. A number of Nations 2015 are cutting cost by pruning down their legislature.

All these big grammars mean nothing to us - the poor : we need food, improved living condition, peace and probity in Government.

...Yet the wise and popular counsel is that APC should move on and allow SARAKI to work in the interest of the nation which also in the long run is in the interest of the party. For if things go wrong and the APC fails to deliver on account of this selfish partisan bickering, the party would have betrayed the historic mandate the people gave it. That would amount to political irresponsibility of the highest order.
However there is a plus side to the whole affair.

He has also hosted key members of the diplomatic community including envoys of the US, Britain, China and France. According to Mr Yusuph Olaniyonu, SARAKI’s Special Adviser on Media, ‘’the envoys…left fully satisfied that a competent, mature, exposed and intelligent man is handling the new Senate and that there is no cause for alarm[concerning]…the synergy that will exist between the two critical arms of government in Nigeria that is destined to change for the better...

Blah blah blah. We have been having similar meetings since 1999 while the minimum wage is still N18k and the dollar keeps climbing against naira.

Its almost impossible to impeach a Nigerian President in 2015 especially one with popular grassroots support like PMP.

Which "poor masses"? You think any of these people are fighting for the benefit of Nigerians?

I know neither sides victory (with status quo) translates into direct benefit to the poor masses.

Poor masses yearn to see Buhari succeed in delivering basic benefits of good governance. Unfortunately the NASS and its leadership as presently constituted give too much influence to PDP.

PDP we know and have seen since May 2015 have one goal - to see Buhari fail and retain the status-quo.

However, the 51-Loyal-APC appear more comfortable with the anti-corruption stance of Buhari while the other side seem to still derive their inspiration from the old guards we voted to put aside.

Victory to the loyal APC Senators would most likely allow drastic reduction in the NASS budget which has been alleged to stand at 10-20% since 1999.

PMP should, honestly, answer the following questions to make a decision?

Who will benefit more between Tinubu and Atiku if his Government failed?

From his experience with these two whose words are more reliable?

Which of them makes him feel more comfortable when they are alone?

Which of them appears to look up to PMP for direction?

In my observation Atiku's unstable antecedents, his body language on days leading to and eve of Presidential election, his involvement in emergence of Saraki and his continual support against Buhari-prefered choice should naturally rule him out.

Atiku is more of a PDP kind. Allowing him a Chair on the high table with Buhari will swell the number of traitors in core APC fold.

Buhari should quit believing everyone loves him or his style. His style is a big treat to the Atikus, Sarakis and their likes.

I dont like Tinubu but I admire his tenacity and loyalty to Buhari-Led-APC success .

If deciding among the two will give PMP problem he should personally select a neutral person and see who will remain loyal afterwards.

Advice to the IGP Arase

Please start selecting your finest officers to serve in the Senate and HoR chambers 28th of July.

If possible they should have some dry-run for possible rancorous sessions.

They should be reminded of their roles to be fair, stable and professional in neutralizing crisis. No Lawmaker (including Saraki and Ekweremadu that are being investigated for rules forgery) should be given preferential treatment over others.

They should insist on having some of their men within the chambers.

They should have enough men to separate 20 simultaneous duels.

Provisions should be made for Ambulances and Medics.

My advice to 51-Loyal-APC Senators

Please remain resolute, united and unshakable. You have the tacit but full support of the Presidency , APC and the poor masses.

PDP, Saraki and the 7-Non-Loyal-APC Senators have a common goal – to see this administration fail. You people are fighting to protect the change mandate willingly given to your party by the masses.

Get into a gym keep fit in body and soul. TWICE BITTEN TRICE DEAD!
Take a cue from your loyal counterparts in the HoR. Hold Saraki by the balls until you retrieve your stolen mandate from Saraki and PDP – majority of the masses are with you.

Remember he got to the Assembly premises 6:00 am on the ‘coup’ day everyone of you MUST be at the Assembly 5:00 am 28th July.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD ANY OF YOU WALK OUT OF THE ASSEMBLY. Stay back and fight like WARRIORS. We have endorsed Buhari-Led-APC for the next four years to tame the monster left behind by 16 years of PDP all-round-majority-rule.

We the teeming masses have faith in Buhari as the APC Leader and we believe in your course.

Forget about rules Saraki has not demonstrated any respect for rules. Observe his 'forged' rules at your own peril.

If he moved for suspension of any of your members make sure he does not finish the statement before you deface him.
He robbed you like a fraudster and you should learn to handle him with an equal favor.

Bookmarked but I still do not believe this method will achieve any meaningful ends. You do not indict people on pages of newspapers. The change we crave for is the one that starts a course and succeeds.

Criminal investigation is a scientific process. It has to be done thoroughly and as discreetly as possible to achieve reasonable results. All these publicity are lazy attempts at winning public sentiments.

Public sentiments wont even put food on the public table but thorough investigation and loot recovery will do.

• Are they competent?

• Have they successfully recovered Billions before?
• Who are their friends?
• A quick check on their Bank accounts and their close ones

If properly staffed the EFCC and ICPC have the potential of becoming another "Nigeria LNG" in 3 months. The Government need money and these bodies are just standing in front of Nigeria looted Trillions confused on how to take them back.

We need another Ribadu and if we cannot find another please bring back the original Ribadu.

This is not acceptable Sir! Every Nigerian has a right to good governance and all its attendant benefits. You must strive to be fair to all - including those that gave you "5% of their votes".

On behalf of Police/DSS/EFCC/ICPC please submit petitions of financial improprieties against the Chairman of your local government, your State Governor or any other public officer.

The Government cannot monitor everyone every time - we should be the eye of the Government. It is our civic responsibilities to support our Leaders in our little ways to rid our society of ills.

It is possible for her to go down if found guilty. That does not necessarily mean any other suspect will fall.

Police/EFCC/ICPC/DSS are currently legally empowered to investigate allegations and petitions. They also have the mandate to prosecute suspects.

Amaechi governed Rivers state while Saraki governed Kwara state. The Rivers people and the new Rivers Government are in the best stead to submit petitions of possible impropriety against Amaechi's tenure in office.

I agree with you. They have not successfully satisfactorily prosecuted any suspect of notes. Their approaches are noisy, unscientific and result-disoriented.

He might actually be much better than them. Many Nigerians have skills and training in criminal investigation and many have excelled within and outside the country. The success of any investigation is measured by the following:

• Ability of the investigators to keep investigation as discreet as possible until court hearings
• Ability of the investigators to expeditiously, collate, arrange ,verify and prepare all evidences for suspect prosecution
• Ability of the investigators to protect identities of all their sources of information
• Ultimately the ability the investigator to make the suspect go numb before the Judge when evidences are being presented.

The trend so far has been investigators making allegations on pages of newspaper, arresting suspects and releasing them in dramatic way. Waste of time, energy and resources yet no results.

Olympians work hard silently for medals, investigators should learn how to work silently to bring back all our loots - All of them!

You have the full backing of the common man on the street.

Police/DSS/EFCC/ICPC should not hesitate to seek voluntary services of talented Nigerians in area of data analysis and management, numerical analysis, and modern record keeping.

There are many young Nigerians out here and there that will voluntarily complete the following tasks in days:

• Gather all docs – receipts, vouchers, lpo, bank statements etc with signatures, names and dates.
• Immediately identify missing docs.
• Convert all docs into computer analyzable formats.
• Analyze data for perfect judgment and decision making
• Putting up data and information for presentation for different purposes

Interrogation will become a child's play and prosecution will be like free lunch.

These are my recommendations to make Police/DSS/EFCC/ICPC investigations of Ex-Govs and Officials easier and more successful:

Police/DSS/EFCC/ICPC should encourage petitions on financial impropriety from everyone including anonymous sources.

All petitions should be treated as plausible until proven otherwise. Petitions should not go public until after thorough investigation.

Police/DSS/EFCC/ICPC should stop arresting or interrogating financial impropriety suspects before completing their investigations.

After receiving petitions Police/DSS/EFCC/ICPC should gather and analyze the following information before interrogating the suspects:

• Petitioners are usually more than willing to supply evidences
• The time line of the alleged impropriety will be very useful
• The Code of Conduct Bureau assets declaration of suspects before and after leaving office should be obtained, valued and analyzed.
• Legitimate means of income of suspects within the time line should be valued and analyzed.
• With the new BVN registration cumulative worth of suspects (across all Banks) before and after leaving office is easier to obtain now.
• A random check on suspects' families and close associates assets and Bank account may solve some mysteries.
• Corporate Affairs Commissions activities of the suspects, friends and family during the time line may be useful.

Suspect interrogation should be the last stage before taking suspects to court. Information from suspects would help investigators affirm or edit the information they have.

On-the-spot investigations and interrogation should be swift and discreet as much as possible.

Suspects need not be treated as criminals even if there are incriminating evidences against them.

With thoroughness Judges may be able to determine criminal cases more expeditiously

She can not ignore the invitation. They may have no choice than to give her a Uduaghan or Dasuki treatment if she declines the invitation.

These people have never shown any interest in the masses. Previous CBN Governors (from 1999) have always been complaining bitterly about the NASS budget.

For example the 7th Senate, at the eve of the tenure passed 40 bills in one day after sharing Billions for four years. Practically, they deliberately denied us the benefits or impacts of those bills while their own Billions were effectively shared in four years.

Most of us are living witnesses to PDP 16 years of governance and the only time we felt anything semblance of good governance was under OBJ.

OBJ was able to impact reasonably acceptably because he realized how few and greedy most lawmakers are. OBJ had to do the unusual with the NASS to be able to focus on the masses that need government to survive.

If removing Ekweremadu, or/ and Saraki will: bring more potable water to the downtrodden, create more camel buyers in your constituency, reduce corruption in government establishments and provide more money to securi our people so be it.

The entire NASS Leadership as presently constituted does not, in anyway, seem comfortable with the anti-corruption stance of the Buhari-Led-Administration. We can live without NASS until you people reduce your take home to an acceptable level.

These people are not in court to stop Akpabio but to test the legitimacy of the Senate standing order 2015 (as amended). If this 2015 order is admitted by the Court today it only means its legitimacy as an acceptable document has been tacitly endorsed by Law.

One would have expected APC Senators to have been in court much earlier proving the illegitimacy of the Senate Standing Order 2015 (as amended).

There is no doubt Saraki-Led-PDP-Senators are working round the clock to retain the Senate majority while the APC Senators appear complacent.

As a result of our current economic situations I will suggest a Bill for the NASS to become par-time or cease to exist at an arm of government.

The suit, which was lodged before the court by two members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from Rivers and Imo states, Alaye Pedro and Dr. Okechukwu Ibeh, respectively, has 18 Senators from the South-South geo-political zone as defendants.
The plaintiffs are praying the court to restrain the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and members of PDP caucus from the South-South in the Senate from appointing the Senate Minority Leader outside the provision of Order 3(2) of Senate Standing Orders 2015 (as amended).
The aforementioned rule of the Senate prohibits the appointment of a first time Senator as a principal officer.
The plaintiffs maintained that whereas PDP is the leading minority party in the Senate and is entitled to produce the Minority Leader, they contended that in line with Order 3(2) of Senate Standing Orders 2015, ranking must be the basis for appointment of such principal officer.
They averred before the court that “ranking ensures that principal officers posses adequate experience and avoids promoting junior over senior,” adding that in zoning the position of the Minority Leader to South-South, PDP take into consideration the ranking of PDP senators from the zone.
The plaintiffs, however, decried that “a clique within the larger PDP caucus in the 8th National Assembly has concluded plans to subvert the mandatory provision of Order 3(20) of the Senate Standing Orders by selecting or appointing the Minority Leader by a procedure in breach of Order 3(2) of the Senate Standing Orders 2015.”
Consequently, they urged the court to intervene by ensuring that the proper procedure was adhered to by the leadership of the Senate with regards to the appointment of Minority Leader.

Lack of confidence in Saraki leadership is one of the reasons for the non release of ministerial list. Another reason is the clandestine plan to remove Saraki by Buhari, which is not becoming fruitful as the day passed. As a result, there is a delay TACTICS going on to see the plan come to fruition from date of resumption hence d delay in ministerial list release. Buhari is equally afraid that Saraki's leadership would reject some of his list hence the delay tactics.Buhari should know that this approach will not work. He can delay his ministerial list till 2016 all I care, nothing will scratch Saraku's Senate Presidentship. Better make peace with Saraki and move on.

Saraki deliberately hurt Buhari-Led-APC when he worked with PDP Senators to ascend the senate Presidency. (Saraki 1 : 0 APC).

He had an opportunity to show remorse and make peace in naming the APC-Senate principal officers but he hurt them again. (Saraki 2 : 0 APC).

The Saraki we know has drafted the headship of Senate standing committees; he is ready to hurt APC the third time.

Saraki's actions are not showing he is interested in peace with Buhari-Led-APC. PMP fraternity with Saraki will appear to give legitimacy to all his past and intending actions.

Buhari-Led-APC will be hurt again by Saraki from 28th July and there is little they can do now than to keep him at arms length.


The Anti-corruption drive of the Buhari-Led-APC is just gathering momentum. Buhari-Led-APC should allow him to win again on 28th July while they draw out his exit plan. There are so many corruption allegations against him - he cannot survive all of them before he gets a Dasuki treatment.

No reasonable Nigerian will miss Saraki as the Senate President.

Police/DSS/EFCC/ICPC should stop arresting or interrogating financial impropriety suspects before completing their investigations.

After receiving petitions Police/DSS/EFCC/ICPC should gather and analyze the following information before interrogating the suspects:

• Petitioners are usually more than willing to supply evidences
• The time line of the alleged impropriety will be very useful
• The Code of Conduct Bureau assets declaration of suspects before and after leaving office should be obtained, valued and analyzed.
• The legitimate means of income of suspects within the time line should be valued and analyzed.
• With the new BVN registration cumulative worth of suspects (across all Banks) before and after leaving office is easier to obtain now.
• A random check on suspects' families and close associates assets and Bank account may solve some mysteries.
• Corporate Affairs Commissions activities of the suspects, friends and family during the time line may be useful.

Suspect interrogation should be the last stage before taking suspects to court. Information from suspects would help investigators affirm or edit the information they have.

On-the-spot investigations and interrogation should be swift and discreet as much as possible.

Suspects need not be treated as criminals even if there are incriminating evidences against them.

With thoroughness Judges may be able to determine criminal cases more expeditiously.

These are my recommendations to make Police/DSS/EFCC/ICPC investigations of Ex-Govs and Officials easier and more successful:

Police/DSS/EFCC/ICPC should encourage petitions on financial impropriety from everyone including anonymous sources.

All petitions should be treated as plausible until proven otherwise. Petitions should not go public until after thorough investigation.
