What is the current 2016 standard issue assault rifle of Ghanaian army INFANTRY? I mean regular ARMY infantry men not special forces.

Ghana uses a combination of M4 carbine and an M16A1 rifle with the usual AK.

Thanks. Also post pic of Ghana Super Tucano when the aircraft arrive from Brazil. Are we expecting tanks in Ghana this year?

The Ghana navy and air force love fanfare, perhaps reason being that they have been starved of resources for a long time unlike their army counterpart. Believe me having pictures of the Tucanos to post won't be a big deal when they arrive.

Side note. Ghana also contributed troops to both Liberia and Sierra Leone, I have buddies who just returned on a six months tour in Liberia. One thing I agree with you is that we have done badly in telling our story.

Look at how shamefully Hollywood made General Dalaire a handful of Canadian troops be the centre piece of the peacekeeping operation in Rwanda. When it is on record that the general who was the
force commander relied on the Ghanaian batallion to prosecute his operations when contributing countries were pulling out of Rwanda enmasse after the capture and killing of the four Belgian soldiers.

With regards to your confusion over the type of guns, I am still digging for info.

agaugust:
Ghana has 24 units of Chinese WZ-523/type-05 IFV with 25mm cannon plus their 50 units of Typhoon MRAP. Wonder why the WZ 25mm gun looks like a Bushmaster instead of Type 87 looks. Can the Ghanaian guys explain their confusing IFV gun? Also, are these women combatants? Why are they in black not army green?
ballballo:

We have the Chinese WZ-523 but the vehicle in the picture is a mowag vehicles. As for the black uniform, I do not know why but it probably vehicle operators that wears it. I have also seen specialize unit wear it to
The women combatants are in the Recce (Reconnaissance) unit, aside from having the option to wear the army carmouflage, the black uniform is largely used for ceremonial purposes.
The army green(OG/Olive Green) was decommissioned somewhere back in 2004.

I thought the black uniform was inherited from the colonial era, considering that Ghana and Nigeria were part of the West African Frontier Fort. The picture below shows a Nigerian Vickers Mk.III Eagle tank operator in black uniform handing over an ordinance to a colleague.

I'm told it was either Ghana or Equatorial Guinea. Ghana SF already operates 12 (2014 cost: $850K) so I'm not sure they'd need the additional 15 that were on that ship. Hopefully the Ghanaians on here will let us know. Equatorial Guinea has been buying hardware all over the place (and not bothering to maintain; half their REVA MKIII fleet currently not-operational angry) .
We'll have confirmation in April, when the NCACC tables its Quarterly Arms Exports Report to Parliament. Also, some confirmation of whatever Paramount is doing in Nigeria.

These trucks were made public last year march during the military parade in Ghana as part of the Independence activities. The pictures below however was taken last week when troops were enroute to enforce a curfew. Looking at the number plate it clearly indicates SF, but I have seen other units use it in other parts of the country as well as the Ghana Police Striking Force.

I think the manufucturers of this truck had the British Jackal in mind.

if this is true? Did the gov and apposite bodies look into it. And ensure if true the conspirators are brought to book?

I know of this because I was a member of that church at the time.
It became an issue in 2004.

Winners Chapel, one of the most populated charismatic churches in Ghana is facing serious leadership struggle that threatens to split the church.
The church which has its headquarters in Nigeria is almost divided with the majority Ghanaian members in the church threatening to break away should the authorities in Nigeria proceed with their decision to remove Bishop George Adjeiman as the head of Winners Chapel in Ghana.
Information pieced together by Peace FM which also tallies with rumours amongst some church members indicate that Winners Chapel in Ghana headed by Bishop Adjeiman appears to disregard orders from Nigeria regarding the use of church funds.
According to our information which has also been confirmed by some members Winners Chapel in Ghana, the authorities in Nigeria have insisted that monies belonging to Winners Chapel, Ghana should be sent to Nigeria who will then decide what the money should be used for.
This according to our information is not being complied with by Bishop Adjeiman who instead is using the money to develop the Ghana Branch of Winners chapel and those at the church headquarters in Nigeria appear to be unhappy about. Just last Tuesday, seven people alleged to be pastors from Winners Chapel, Nigeria came to Ghana to impress on Bishop Adjeiman to resign.
This has however incurred the displeasure of the members especially the Ghanaians who have been impressed by the tremendous growth of Winners Chapel under Bishop Adjeiman and are determined to resist orders from the Church headquarters in Nigeria. Some have also threatened to break away should Bishop Adjeiman be removed as head of Winners Chapel, Ghana
When Peace FM visited the church premises at circle during their church service last night though service had closed some members were seen in groups discussing the issue with one simple message, “we will not allow this to happen again. There was also police presence at the church premises confirming the unease tension facing Winners Chapel. When Peace FM tried to contact Bishop Adjeiman to gain some insight into the crisis, his security men simply said “Bishop No Dey Entertain Visitors Today.”

After being on this forum for over 3 years I have come to the realization that Nigerians are obsessed with anything and everything Ghana. It's a sickness that you people need to cure. If you all spent half the amount of time you spent obsessing about what Ghanaians are doing than your own Country then maybe Nigeria would not be in such a mess as it is now.

Before I first came on Nairaland I knew that there was some sort of 'rivalry' between us but I never knew it was such intense xenophobic hatred. I was appalled at the things Nigerians used to say about Ghanaians and I wondered why are they like this. When there was e-wars I always used to be the one trying for peace until eventually I realized that Nigerians don't care for peace or want peace. I started slowly but surely finding myself caught in between the e-wars and slowly I started to feel a dislike towards Nigerians. It just started growing worse and worse as each vile thread, topic and comment I saw. I started to hate Nigerians and that's when I decided to deactivate my account (my first time) because I did not want this hatred to transfer itself in real life.

My parents stayed in Nigeria for 2 years(Not during period of Ghana must go) but the way they were treated and many Ghanaians were treated was horrific. I can just imagine how Ghanaians must have been treated during Ghana must go. I think that was probably the beginning of how the whole Ghana and Nigeria dislike started happening.

Personally I never had any issues with Nigerians. I generally tend to stay away from them because majority here in SA are up to no good to be frank.

Nigerians think they are saints and angels on earth. They believe that they are the best in the whole world. Everyone is jealous of them. They are without sin. Basically they are heaven on earth but the atrocities that goes on on your country yet you still like to cast stones at other countries makes you people hypocrites and that's one of the major reasons that many people worldwide dislike you. Not to even mention 419, drugs, rituals etc yet this raccoon of a person has the audacity to ask WTF is going on with Ghanaians. I mean WTF is happening with Nigerians? 90 % of the time your people are up to no good. Instead of you to crate a topic about WTF is happening to Nigerians. You are here talking about Ghanaians.

Firstly I have never heard of that site in my life but common sense going by the link would be an indication of what that site is about. The biggest Ghanaian site would be Ghanaweb.

You guys have your Naija leaks, Naija Uncut. Your Cossy and Maheeda prostitutes and other similar sh1t yet you want to claim angel on earth as if your people don't do sh1t.

Concentrate on your own fkng country and stop worrying and obsessing about what Ghanaians are doing all the time. I have never come across such a site that thrives on hatred, tribalism, xenophobia and unfortunately I have become like the rest of you hateful fools.

To RickyRoss1 it's obvious you married the Ghanaian for papers. That's what you people are good at. I would feel sorry for your wife that she married a demon but it serves her right. Any foolish Ghanaian girl that Marries a Nigerian guy is on her own and majority of the times they are of a 'certain class' to put it nicely.

I will admit there are good Nigerians out there. The two Nigerians on this site that I respect so much are Fulaman and Ifyalways.

If not for these two individuals I would think that all hope was lost.

Sometimes I wish I never joined this site because I will never be able to see Nigerians in the same light as before. I am sorry if you both( Fula and Ify) may feel offended by my post but this is coming from a place deep down in my heart and I am only being honest.

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has denied reports that Ghana manages the airspace of Nigeria over the Gulf of Guinea.
According to the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) Ghana only manages the airspace of Togo and Benin
.
The latest development follows reports that Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Ministry of Aviation in Nigeria to take over from Ghana, the management of the Nigerian airspace in the Gulf of Guinea.
He is reported to have given the directive at the State House in Abuja last week while receiving a briefing from top officials of the ministry led by Permanent Secretary Hajiya Binta Bello.
The permanent secretary later told State House journalists that Buhari ordered her ministry to begin the process of securing the management of the Nigerian airspace which, she noted, Ghana had been managing since 1945.
The permanent secretary hinted that Togo and Benin Republic had equally concluded arrangements to take over their airspaces from Ghana.
“We’ve a directive by the president to start the process of securing the management of the Nigerian airspace over the Gulf of Guinea which Ghana has been maintaining since 1945, and there is a move on the ground by Togo and Republic of Benin to take over their own airspace from Ghana,” she said.
But the Deputy Director General Finance and Administration of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority Abdullai Alhassan told Citi Business News the reports are untrue.
According to him the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has sent a delegation to Nigeria to ascertain the truth concerning President Muhammadu Buhari order to Nigeria’s Ministry of Aviation to take over the security of the nation’s airspace over the Gulf of Guinea from Ghana.
In an interview with Citi Business News the Deputy Director General Finance and Administration of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority Abdullai Alhassan said “at the international civil aviation level they have sent the regional director to go to Nigeria to find out exactly what they mean because Ghana is not managing the airspace of Nigeria. Unlike Togo and Benin where we manage their airspace we do not know about the management of the Nigeria’s airspace.”
Deputy Director General Finance and Administration of Ghana Civil Aviation Authority Abdullai Alhassan told Citi Business News that the IATA council is handling the issue and in fact they have even sent a delegation to Nigeria to ascertain the truth in the matter since they are all aware that Ghana does not manage the airspace of Nigeria.

Currency notes of Ghana, Ivory Coast and other countries would soon be printed by the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting (NSPM) Plc, its managing director, Joseph Ugbo, revealed yesterday.
He told the House of Representatives committee on banking and currency at the 2015 budget defence that apart from the notes, other security documents of the countries would also be printed by the NSPM.
Ugbo said an installation of newly procured state-of-the-art machines for security documents has since commenced.
He said the installations are aimed at perfecting final preparation in the build up to the production of the banknotes and other security documents required by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The managing director said the Lagos and Abuja facilities of the company can produce 1.2 billion and 1.4 billion bank notes while the new facility could print 1.2 billion notes.
Chairman of the committee Rep Jones Onyeriri however queried the N200 million earmarked as exit incentives as against the N150 million in 2014 as well as N50 million for the year-end gift by the company.
