Kajina: LMOA!!

Weird way of speaking English?? This coming from a Nigerian? Wonders shall never end ooo grin So you went to the UK and heard them pronounce “TION” as “SHON”? I mean words like nation as na(shon), population as popula(shon), accommodation as accommoda(shon), etc. That’s a big joke. My friend it’s pronounced SHIN not SHON.

And I wonder what on earth makes you guys pronounce words like “pursue” as PORSHOE, “lawsuit” as LAWSHOOT, “suit” as SHOOT? What does SHOE got to do with the word PURSUE? Like seriously? I just can’t fathom why. You obviously don't listen to the Brits in UK, because no English man will say such shocked

HealthRe: The 5 Biggest Causes Of Belly Fat. by GHSwagg: 4:07pm On May 19, 2013
slysinzu: There are pills and exercises on the market
today that claim to erase belly fat effortlessly. However, changes in a person’s lifestyle are a more direct and more effective approach to eliminating the problem. Excessive belly fat increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and even Alzheimer’s disease.
Here are 5 of the most common causes of belly fat.

1. Drinking Too Much Alcohol

“Beer belly” is the common term for excess fat that has accumulated due to drinking a lot of alcohol on a regular basis. Beer isn’t the only culprit, though. Contrary to the specific term, drinking an excessive amount of any alcoholic beverage can cause beer belly. (Except wine, according to research.) Alcohol contains nothingbut empty calories that are stored in the stomach area.

2. Eating Too Many Bad Carbohydrates

There are good carbs and there are bad carbs. Eating unrefined carbs like fruit, legumes, vegetables and whole grains is good for you, and helps in weight control. Eating biscuits, cakes, donuts, white bread and other refined carbs does the opposite. Eat too many of these carbs and a person’s insulin level will rise. Their metabolism will slow down, and the excess sugar the body can’t use will be stored as belly fat.

3. Stress Overload

Too much stress has many negative impacts on the body. Stress causes the body to switch into survival mode. One way the body ensures its survival is by storing more fat so starvation doesn’t occur if there’s no food eaten. Stress also causes the body to produce excessive amounts of cortisol. This hormone moves stored fat to the abdomen area and creates belly fat. According to a study by the Psychology Department at Yale University, women (in particular) who had a higher amount of belly fat were more negative, and lived with higher levels of stress.

4. Genetics

This cause of belly fat may be the toughest one to hear, because it entails not really being able to do all that much to prevent it. Genetics play a role in deciding where the fat distribution goes in your body, and it practically relates to two different body types. Either you are apple- shaped or pear-shaped. If you are pear-shaped, then the fat generally accumulates in your lower areas like your fanny. If you are apple-shaped, then your body has the tendency of storing fat around your midsection, thus leading to belly fat.

5. Sedentary Lifestyle

A sedentary lifestyle is defined as one in which a person fails to exercise regularly, or fails to get any exercise at all. The biggest problem with a sedentary lifestyle is that it can increase your chances of developing serious health conditions, which are all somewhat preventable. If you lead a sedentary lifestyle, you are raising your chances of dying younger, yet you can easily avoid this by simply moving more and exercising regularly. It commonly consists of the practice of sitting on the couch and watching too much TV. Such a lifestyle is not limited just to TV watching; it also involves reading too much or using the computer too much. Basically, if you are not moving enough, it is sedentary.

ItsModella: Yam itself is a starchy food. So you add yam to cassava to reduce the starch? That's adding starch to starch to reduce the starch. grin grin
LOL! Of course yam has starch. Even potatoes have starch. But cassava’s starch is extremely higher, so adding yam makes it not as starchy as using only cassava cheesy

Crixina: thanks prof.for the lecture on fufu 101.then if u knw ther r different kinds and methods of preparing fufu, then u should knw enough not to make it sound like its a ghananian food, cos an average ghananian will quickly tink of the yam paste when fufu is being mentioned, while an average nigerian will tink of cassava paste.hence that still goes bk to my first point that fufu may mean different things to these countries.
See bolded... The average Ghanaian never thinks of yam paste when fufu is mentioned. Actually only few people like to add yam to the cassava to reduce the starch in the cassava.
CelebritiesRe: Keri Hilson Makes A Bowl Of Fufu (photo) by GHSwagg: 1:22pm On May 06, 2013

CelebritiesRe: Keri Hilson Makes A Bowl Of Fufu (photo) by GHSwagg: 1:13pm On May 06, 2013
ItsModella: The Yorubas refer to akpu as fufu. Akpu is just the Igbo name for what the Yoruba and other people in South-Western Nigeria call fufu. So saying fufu is distinctively Ghanaian is laughable. The Togolese eat fufu, the Liberians eat fufu, those in Benin Republic eat fufu (and yes, they call it fufu). So what are you saying?
Okay baby girl we all eat fufu AKA akpu (by the Igbos). End of the fufu story cheesy

LOL! The average Ghanaian never thinks of yam when it comes to fufu. We don't eat pounded yam. That is a Nigerian dish.
CelebritiesRe: Keri Hilson Makes A Bowl Of Fufu (photo) by GHSwagg:
rhymz: yeah right. . . Wait until you see real Nigerian fufu or Akpu. Trust me Ghanaians don't eat Fufu better than Igbos or Calabar ppl. It is a common staple associated with them in Nigeria. We dont use plantain or whatever, strictly cassava. And igbos do it quite differently from Calabar that roast theirs. We have the best soups for fufu than ghanaians trust me on that.
About the bolded... My brother don't even go there ooo! That one no be true!

Have you ever bitten your finger eating your soup? I guess not. Try our fufu soups and see what would happen cheesy
CelebritiesRe: Keri Hilson Makes A Bowl Of Fufu (photo) by GHSwagg: 9:06am On May 06, 2013
rhymz: so in order words, all ghanaian fufu taste alike, even the ones made from plantain abi?
Guy, lets not turn english on its head, what we are saying is that the varient we eat here even though may be generally known as fufu but it has nothing to do with Ghana or borrows its origin from Ghana. Fufu as it is reffered to in Ghana and every other part of west Africa is not tied to any one tuber semi-solid paste, it is a general term used to describe them unlike in Nigeria where it solely describes akpu. No nigerian can mistake Akpu with those other varients they still call fufu, yet they all known as fufu.
The bolded...What I can say is that Ghanaians don't eat akpu, neither do we call fufu akpu, so akpu didn't borrow it's origin from Ghana. Relax my brother, it's all good smiley
CelebritiesRe: Keri Hilson Makes A Bowl Of Fufu (photo) by GHSwagg:
londoner: I'm not vex. but a tad annoyed.

Even if you look at the Ghanaian way of eating fufu.....it is totally different from our way, and their accompanying soups are also different.

They eat theirs in the same bowl as the soup....we dont.

We serve our fufu separately from the soup apart from some yorubas, who sometimes have theirs on the same plate as the pounded yam/eba etc.

Our fufu is totally difrerent both in texture and taste. i have had Ghana fufu in Ghana and Nigerian Akpu or fufu as a stable growing up........they are NOT the same .
My friend what you just described are two different foods. One is called fufu and the other akpu. You have tasted both and confirmed that they are not the same in terms of texture and taste. You made it clear that what Ghanaians call fufu doesn't taste and feel like akpu. So it makes sense that they have different names.

Now, since Nigerians don’t eat what Ghanaians call fufu and Ghanaians don’t eat what Nigerians call akpu, can we just agree that fufu is distinctively Ghanaian while akpu is Nigerian? I’ll love to one day try akpu smiley

And what is posted on Wikipedia is about fufu not akpu LOL!

Goodysydney: Hahahaha... God has already blessed Ghana and Southafrica with malnourished pygmies ugly lazy men. God also blessed Ghana and Southafrica with ugly cheap whores who are busy making series of babies from different men. In Ghana and Southafrica ,90% of the population are primitive bastard children of bastards. Ghana is a country where 85% of the girls make series of babies from different men. While in Southafrica, 98% of their girls are Hiv/Aids positive because of their fathers and brothes raped them at the age of 5. While our sorry a.s.s Ghanaian brothers are busy making plenty babies with different women and blaming Nigerians for their problems. Smart Nigerians are busy owning everything in Ghana, from banks, shopping mails, cinemas, 5 stars hotels, boutiques, shops, petrol stations, oil companies, airline, construction companies. Nigeria Company Glo network sponsors Ghana Black Stars and Ghana Premier League.

Just wait, in the future, you Ghanaians would be begging to join Nigeria, but you have to wait for your turn behind Niger, Benin, Chad, Cameroon, and Togo.
