ijeoma2728: @team April Is anyone experiencing Braxton hicks (frequent tightening )at 31 weeks.?? Ayam not understanding it, it comes with a mild pain den vanishes I've been wondering what Braxton hicks is sef, and if I would recognize it when it comes. I've been feeling this all week and just waiting for my ANC on Saturday. Mine doesn't come with pain sha, but it feels like she kicks then her leg hooks there for some seconds before she slowly relaxes it. She doesn't kick as wildly as she used to before, but I think that's cuz she's grown bigger and no much space to go wild like she used to. I just hope she's turned cuz at my last scan 3 weeks ago she was head up and chilling. I'm 32 weeks, 1 day today by LMP date and i just googled and google said BH contractions can start as early as second trimester sometimes, but mostly around this stage we are in, so guess it's normal. |

jazzyjazz: @giddyperson
I use graco pack and play with reversible napper and changer. We got it from a shop in abuja for 55k. But on konga and Jumia, it's about 10k cheaper. Think I saw it for 45k once but u can check sha
For the napper, my son outgrew it in 3weeks! He grew taller than the napper so we stopped using it. Other than that, he loved to sleep in it every afternoon and we were usually tempted to leave him there at night.
Since our room is small, we move the cot out to the living room in the morning, and we move it back to the room at night. We got the pack and play because we can easily pack it and travel with it (dh and I intend to travel a lot this new year)
For the cot itself, we recently discovered that our son didn't like it because it's hard. So I added layers upon layers of bedsheets and his extra blankets to make it soft and he sleeps better in there presently (I tuked them in to avoid him pulling them out when he's fussy)
As for the clothes, ma'am alphahandmaiden has said it all! I didn't buy any new born size But we got quite a good number of new born sized clothes as gifts and guess what! Some of them didn't size my son and some he outgrew in a few days!!! So be careful when buying newborn sizes
We also got a good number of 0-3months sizes and those ones fit well. He only outgrew one (it was looking quite small sha)
I bought only 3-6months and 6-9months size of clothes basically because I knew he would be going nowhere in the first 3 months. Though I have a few 0-3months that are his perfect size (he wears those ones when we go for immunization.....though I mostly just wear him bodysuit and cover him up with a flannel)
I have more than 10 bodysuits and more than 10 sleepsuits I have about 10 shirts/polos/sleeveless tops and maybe 7 trousers
About 20 washcloths (most were gifts) 10 socks Maybe 6 mittens (just like ma'am alpha said, forget mittens. They don't stay on for long) I have 7 bibs. I barely use them anyway and I wash every day. But there's no harm in having a lot just like ma'am alpha said.
I have about 7 caps which I don't use because Abuja heat can deep fry chicken and my son sweats a lot.
I've attached a photo of the cot I have
Side note - I love the changer cos it's so easy to change his diaper there. If poo stains it, you can clean easily with wipes
We are going to take out the napper and changer so he can use the cot bed fully
I was told you don't add an extra mattress to the cot but I don't know sha. Me I might add later when he's older Thanks for still taking time to do the detailed reply, you are a darling |

hunniesuzie: Buy Graco pack and play. I shared a picture a few pages back. When I get home I'll share a pic of how it looks packed. You can take it from room to room or even for long visits to someones house.
Clothes sha take it easy. People will still gift you stuff and you can buy as you go along. I bought very few 0-3 and focused more on 3-6. Can't remember the exact quantity Yeah taking it from room to room is a compulsory feature for whatever I end up buying. How much did it cost, let me stalk your old pages and look for a picture. EDIT: Ok, Ive seen it, 45k , it looks worth it sha. Do I still have to buy a mattress for it? How do you put a mosquito net over it? Is there any part of it that can be detached and placed on a bed for the baby to sleep in, is that what the napper is? Sorry for the plenty questions |
Health › Re: Pregnancy Are You Pregnant Or Going Through A High Risk Pregnancy,,lets Talk by Giddyperson: 1:09pm On Feb 13, 2017 |
AlphaHandMaiden: My Opinion: dont get too many newborns because you don't know how big your baby will be and it will be out grown before you blink.
Dont waste your money buying any outing clothes that is less than 3 months. - most babies live in vests and sleepsuits and they don't go out much in the first 3 months. however you may want to get something nice for baptism or dedication if you know you will do it before 3 months. ".. but what about naming?" i hear you ask. Have you ever seen anything more than a baby's face at the naming?, at 8 days old, they are all wrapped up so no one will see the clothes underneath the blanket/ shaw. just get a nice blanket for the photos.
Consider how often you will bath the baby and how often you want to do laundry and that will guide you.
For instance- f you want to do laundry like once a week i would say about 10 vests and 10 bodysuits at any one time. however if you want to bath baby twice a day - due to nigerian heat, then you may need to double or at least add half that number to about 15 to 20
may be 3 in newborn size; and 7 in 0-3 months
then when they out grow that you can get:
3 no 3-6 months and 7 no 6-9 months you really don't want to be buying a new set every 3 months, so you can reduce the number of 3-6 months and get more 6-9 months, as they will grow into it and you will use them for longer)
from about 6 months, note they will be wearing other clothes so you may want to reduce the Bodysuits for nighttime only, but the vests will be used day and night, and also on their own if the weather is too hot. they are also more mobile so you will want to cut down on the oversized sleepsuits so they dont trip or fall so
7 no 9-12 months - sleep suits, 10 no 12-18 months vests - the vests sleeves can be rolled up if long sleeve.
Other cloths like dresses, tops, trousers etc, you can get no more than 4 at any one time for outing, - most likely for church on sunday or the odd party. and always have atlleast 2 of them a size up. because you can wake up one fine Sunday morning and bring out your 3-6 month fancy dress, and 4-5 your months old daughter has outgrown it.
For house clothes - see how you get on, after like 3 -6 months you will have an idea of how many to buy
get plenty bibs, i ended up having at least 20! you will use like 3 a day on a good day! had only 7 initially and i ended up hand washing every second day to be able to keep up.
Don't buy too many mittens - they always seem to fall off, and get lost. getting the ones with good elastic is ridiculously hard. alternative is to use baby stocks instead - it never falls off. so you may want buy more of the socks.
For the cot, a bassinet is your best bet - they last till about 6 months, they can be dismantled when done, some even have castors so you can easily move them from one room to the other. some also double as a rocker so you can rock the bassinet ...... very useful feature. if you want something longer lasting and more versatilte, and if you have space in your house, i would say get a travel cot, most can be used for a long time about 9 or 12 months i think and some can be transformed into a play pen when baby is too big to sleep in them. you also get the benefit of them being collapsible and you can easily carry it with you if you are travelling e.g - a weekend at grandma's. you can also get a mosquito net and lay over the top.
hope this helps.
sorry i sabi write plenty. Thanks a lot for the detailed reply. I think I've bought enough for now then. I think I can afford to go back to the market when she's like 2 months old, atleast then I'd know her size and growth capacity I bought a dozen bibs and some preggy women at the store were exclaiming like I've bought too much, then God my friend insisted it wasn't too much. |

I've finally bought my baby things, atleast most of it, now remaining all the big money ones like cots, car seat. I want a cot that's very portable, small size, and that can be dismantled and folded up when the baby is no longer using it. Any suggestions? I don't still think I'm done with clothes tho. Someone should please tell me what's the realistic quantity of clothes to buy, and their sizes. For instance, how many new born, how many 3-6 and how many 6-9. I don't want to have too few that we'd be doing wash and wear , or too many that she would outgrow the clothes before she even gets to wear them. cc Jazzyjazz, beeblossoms, Zaynie |

I don't think a majority of them have seen 25 million before, even the way they eat would tell you. I think the show just gave a preference to people with past experience in entertainment so that they can have an interesting house, you know how every job in Nigeria now is based on experience. But as usual, these people have proved that experience isn't always everything cuz they bore me most times. Travelling out of the country doesn't put money in your pocket, it removes money, if you are good at what you do, the people you work for would sponsor your trip. And hanging out with celebrities? A lot of broke people hang around celebs. |
