I find it very worrisome how a number of Nigerians are so quick off the mark when it comes to running the country down. A lot of people are simply Nigeria-bashing without even asking basic questions or doing a simple google search of this story. Is this story confirmed on any other news channel e.g. Nigerian media, other Ghanaian media? You may have noticed that all the news reports quote "Daily Guide" as their source and they all seem to spew hatred for Nigeria and Nigerians whom they believe are filth and second-rate criminals, no less. And oh, did you see the bit about Nigeria being the first to deport Ghanaians in this seemingly tit-for-tat deportation saga? Please read your history very well and you'll know who began the deportation thing between the two countries. Not that it makes this right, but let's get our stories right in all things. Opinion is not a report. Whilst I refrain from commenting on the average Ghanaian's hatred for the Nigerian - because the envy for the usually ambitious and aggressive Nigerian may be understandable, I find it hard to fathom the self-hate that just seems to ooze from every pore of many a Nigerian or those who claim to be Nigerians. Please get your facts right before you start bashing your country and jumping to the defence of every foreign country that's supposedly 'at war' with Nigeria. I lived and worked in Ghana legitimately before returning to Nigeria. Whilst there, I saw all sorts from Nigerians, Ghanaians and other nationals, but Nigeria always seemed to get the short end of the stick when it came to media reportage. Every negative story had a headline that somehow had Nigeria written into it even when the body of the story revealed scant relation with the headline. At the time, it became so traumatic tuning in to the radio, TV or reading the newspaper, eventually, the Forum of Nigerian Professionals in Ghana (FNPG) in conjunction with the Nigerian High Commission, took the decisive step of investigating many of these stories - quite a few were found to be baseless - and refuted them in the Ghanaian media fairly regularly. A major effort at reinforcing the good name of Nigeria was launched and carried out successfully. The media back-pedalled a bit and became a little more objective. Now, it all seems to be on the rise again. There are many Nigerians doing a lot of good things all over the world and a few people who are clearly ignorant about what they post online should not give the country a bad name simply because it feels good or right to join the bandwagon of those who never see anything good in Nigeria. Nigerians are not saints. Ghanaians are not saints either. And I have come across several Europeans, Asians and Americans who are less than saints! My simple admonition is this: do not add to the image bashing your country already gets from the rest of the world. it just makes it worse because you are simply confirming to the world that YOU are not worthy. YOU are NIgeria. |
Dude, I wish I had any clue as to what you're doing, but I do believe in your overall objectives and support you wholeheartedly. Go for it. |
I wish I could even get upset with these people in government who often just make meaningless sounds in the guise of talking. I'm sooooooo exhausted with worry for my people over the years. What exactly is the strategy to make these jobs materialise - besides some form of voodoo I mean? Ooooh, the land of my birth! |
On which roads will the traditional rulers drive the promised cars? #just wondering |

Hello Nairalanders, In this era when a lot of us can only afford to buy used cars (Tokunboh) how does one insulate himself from buying a car that could have been stolen from outside the country? It bothers me considering that circumventing due process is not exactly difficult here. Sad but true. Please share your thoughts/suggestions. |

Re: Nigerian Celebrities Who Are They Dating « #7 on: January 04, 2008, 09:04 AM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- what i know is that most celebrities in nigeria don't want people to know who they r datin because sometimes when they r being asked they simply say thats personal but for d whites they don't care they want to be seen together even if they would break up d next minute to me i still feel that most nigerians r a bit pretentious Report to moderator Logged I think you're right because you also don't want to be identified. Your location is 'somwhere in naija'. interesting. |
I've been hearing and reading about inverters and their benefits especially with the power challenges in Naija. Is there anyone who has actually used them? What were your experiences like? please share. |
It's a personal decision and no one should be castigated for it. You may not like it but pray, who made you a judge over others? We are all susceptible and can only ask for God's grace to keep our legs together or our 'third leg' from entering the 'Bermuda Triangle'. For those amongst us who do and still come to post sanctimonious b, t, shut the f, k up, PLEASE! |
well, it's happened to me b4 and the relationship lasted for six years. I never disrespected her and we were happy until distance made us separate. |
