If you are a landlord and you try this with a tennant that knows his right (especially some stubborn igboman). Hmm, the wahala you will face. From criminal to civil proceedings. He will even sue you for millions. You will be the one begging to get out of the wahala.
After experiencing such 2wice. 1 stayed in the house and claimed he was going to break the 10 year law where in if you stay without paying rent the property is assumed to be yours. Na so the Tennant, a lawyer for that matter wanted to take own house. I got him kicked out. The walala that followed, I had to run out of town. Lol.
The second locked up the apartment for 2 years. My caretaker got police as witness to open up the place. There where rags etc there. Nna, the very next day this tenant appeared that he had property worth 3m in the apartment and made a huge list. 3m 20 years ago na plenty money. The man sued and we were in court for almost 10 years before the case died! Those 2 happened in imo state.
That was why when same issue came up with a shop here in Lagos, we went to court for 3 years and got judgment before we could open the shop. Learnt the hard way.

So much so. My father's tenant has not paid for more than 2 yrs running now. He was asked to leave and go with the money. He refused to move out. He was taken to court to be evicted and to our greatest surprise this guy had money to hire a lawyer. Hearing is in February 2021
