Boy, 14 charged with murder after five-year-old was found dead in a river

Logan Mwangi, a five-year-old boy whose body was discovered in a river in South Wales, has been charged with murder.

Due to his age, the 14-year-old kid has not been named and will appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court later, according to South Wales Police.

Logan, also known as Logan Williams, was discovered dead in the Ogmore River near Pandy Park in Bridgend at 5.45 a.m. on July 31, after police were called to report a missing child.

He was transported to the Princess of Wales Hospital, where his death was confirmed.


Detective Chief Inspector Mark O'Shea, the senior investigating officer, said: "This is a very harrowing case for all involved and I extend my deepest sympathies to Logan’s family and friends.

“This remains an extensive and sensitive investigation by the Major Crime Investigation Team and I am grateful to the local community for its support and understanding while we have continued to gather evidence across several scenes.”

In the United States, surgeons successfully transplanted a kidney developed in a genetically engineered pig to a human patient, and the organ functioned normally.

According to the Reuters news agency, the surgery was performed at NYU Langone Health in New York City and involves the use of a pig whose genes had been tweaked such that its tissues no longer carried a chemical known to provoke an almost immediate rejection.

The receiver was a brain-dead patient with evidence of kidney failure whose family agreed to the experiment before she was to be taken off life support.

The new kidney was linked to her blood veins and kept outside her body for three days, allowing researchers access to it.

The function of the transplanted kidney “looked pretty normal,” according to the study’s lead author, transplant physician Dr. Robert Montgomery.

The kidney produced “the amount of urine that you would expect” from a transplanted human kidney, and there was no evidence of the vigorous, early rejection found in non-human primates when unmodified pig kidneys are transplanted.

A Seychelles giant tortoise named Jonathan has lived since the 1800s. All that has reversed now and he is as fit as a fiddle!”

Lucy said that Jonathan is quite friendly and the friendly nature of the tortoise helps him to remain social with everyone. “Being the oldest land animal in the world, he has almost royal status here,” Lucy said.

“He is dignified and interacts in a friendly way as long as people move slowly around him. We are all very fond of him.”

A Nigerian studying in Kaliningrad, Russia drowned after rescuing a drowning woman on the beach.

The deceased Elumunor Richard Okasia was a student at Maritime University and was married for only one year. The unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday, July 17, 2021.

According to reports, Richard and his wife were on the beach when they saw the drowning lady. It is said that his wife had asked him not to go into the water, but he insisted.

Witnesses said the young student, with the help of three other men, rescued a drowning woman before the currents swept him into the deep sea.

“He was part of a group of four guys that tried to rescue the girl that was drowning. He was the first to reach her and he pushed her out of the strong current.

The others were then able to get the girl to the beach. He was then carried deep into the sea by the current. He couldn’t get out. He was above the water for a few minutes and then went under the water,” the eyewitness revealed.

According to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), they breached the rule on ‘abusing naira notes.’

“It is the duty of law enforcement agencies to catch offenders and take them to court. Our collaboration with the police will intensify as we move to implement the mobile court for offenders.”

Spraying naira and dancing on banknotes is an abuse of Nigerian currency and violates SECTION 21 of the 2007 CBN Act, which provides for six months' imprisonment.

The Act states:

(1) A person who tampers with a coin or note issued by the Bank is guilty of an offense and shall on notes and coins imprisonment for a term not less than six months or to a fine not less than N50,000 or to both such fine and imprisonment.

(2) A coin or note shall be deemed to have been tampered with if the coin or note has been impaired, diminished, or lightened otherwise than by fair wear and tear or has been defaced by stumping, engraving, mutilating, piercing, stapling, writing, tearing, soiling, squeezing or any other form of deliberate and willful abuse whether the coin or note has or has not been thereby diminished or lightened.

(3) For the avoidance of doubt, spraying of, dancing or matching on the Naira or any note issued by the Bank during social occasions or otherwise howsoever shall constitute abuse and defacing of the Naira or such note and shall be punishable under Sub-section (1) of this section.

In March of this year, a primate farm in Beijing planted two monkeys, and after about a month they became ill.

He developed nausea, vomiting, fever, and nervous system problems and died in May.

After analyzing blood and saliva samples, researchers found evidence of the monkey B virus, also known as herpes virus B, in April.

The researchers said that doctors and nurses who were in close contact with the victim tested negative for the virus.

Monkey B virus is common in macaques, but infection in humans is extremely rare.

Since the discovery of the virus in 1932, only 50 cases have been reported, most of which are in North America. Untreated B virus infection is a serious disease, but the mortality rate is about 80%. Symptoms include fever, shortness of breath, and the development of more serious complications, such as swelling of the brain and spinal cord.


Laboratory workers and veterinarians who are in close contact with animals face a higher risk because people usually get the virus when they are bitten or scratched by an infected monkey, or when they come into contact with their eyes, nose, or mouth.

Mutation in a way that is a problem for the general population. Only the spread of one virus from person to person is recorded.

A 32-year-old Asian influencer, Sofia Cheng, slipped and fell to her death from a height of 5 meters in Qingdai Creek in Tuen Mun near Yuen Long.

Anime Director Osamu Kobayashi has passed on at 57 years of age in the wake of having kidney cancer for a very long time, as per a post on his Twitter.

The tweet clarified that throughout the previous two years Kobayashi was battling kidney cancer
