If you gave it some thought you could probably create a long list of things you should never do before sex but always do after.

But, apparently, going for a wee is one that everyone should know about.

The advice applies to women rather than men – and experts say that many are incorrectly doing it the wrong way round.

This latest advice comes from New York urologist David Kaufman who said the idea that one has to have a ‘pee before sex’ was a common misconception held by his patients.

Why do women suffer more from cystitis than men?

Women are far more susceptible to UTIs than men because of their anatomy. The female urethra is separated from the vagina and anus by just a small distance, making it easy for bacteria from either the vagina or bottom to reach it. And it is only two inches long – meaning bacteria does not need to travel far to reach the bladder.
He told Yahoo that it can actually increase your chances of catching a urinary tract infection [UTI] – because a strong stream of urine after sex helps to dislodge any vaginal bacteria that might have been pushed into the urethra during sex. If the bacteria isn’t removed, it can makes its way into the bladder where it can cause a UTI.

‘It is the No.1 cause of post-coital urinary tract infections, also known as honeymoon cystitis,’ he said.

‘Bacteria have tiny pilli that act as Velcro hooks, which allow them to attach themselves to the urethral lining. Having a solid stream afterward is crucial since the bacteria can be hard to dislodge.’

He said that holding on will make sure your bladder is full enough to produce a stream strong enough to help clear any bacteria in the urethra.

If you absolutely must go before you have sex, drinking plenty of liquids afterwards could help you to get to the stage where your post-coital stream is back to full strength.

Following the broadcast of the proof of life video showing 15 of the abducted Chibok girls by US cable news network, CNN on Wednesday, THISDAY has confirmed that the 219 girls who were kidnapped from their secondary school in Chibok, Borno State, exactly two years ago have been broken up into groups and are being offered by different Boko Haram cells to federal government negotiators in exchange for huge sums of money.
Their abduction sparked a social media campaign and global outrage which drew attention to the horror of the six-year-old insurgency in the Northeast.

However, the release of the video has added pressure on the federal government to secure their release, with President Muhammadu Buhari promising the parents and relations of the missing girls yesterday that they will be rescued and returned to them.

Sources in the intelligence agencies informed THISDAY yesterday that they were aware of the negotiations with the Islamist terror group, which have been stalled due to the ransoms demanded by different Boko Haram cells for the release of the girls in their possession.

One senior intelligence source said that in the course of negotiations for the girls’ release, one cell asked for $50 million in exchange for the 15 girls shown in the video on Wednesday, prompting the recording last December by the Boko Haram cell to show that the girls were still alive.
“Then yet another group offered another 10 girls for over 1 million euros, reinforcing intelligence reports that they had been broken up and dispersed to different cells,” he said.

He explained that the large ransoms demanded by different cells of Boko Haram further confirmed the federal government’s position that the terror group had been significantly degraded and has its back against the wall, hence the astronomical demands for money in exchange for the girls.

The source added, however, that the federal government has refused to yield to the demands of the different cells, insisting that all 219 girls must be released at the same time.

He said the government was also against paying any form of ransom for their release, as the monies could be used by Boko Haram, which has been declared the deadliest extremist sect in the world, to rearm and continue their reign of violence and wanton killings in its bid to carve out a caliphate in the Northeast.

“The group is deadly, cannot be trusted and is led by maniacal leaders. As such, the federal government has refused to yield to the demands of the cells. Their supply channels have more or less been cut off, so paying them such huge amounts for a handful of girls will only be giving them the ammunition to rearm and continue the deadly destruction and mayhem in the north,” he said.

Despite the lack of progress in securing the girls’ release, the president yesterday assured the parents and relations of the kidnapped schoolgirls that they will be rescued, adding that he frequently reflects on the ordeal of the captives in the hands of Boko Haram terrorists and shares in the pain of their continued absence from home.

A statement by his spokesman, Mr. Garba Shehu, said on the second anniversary of the kidnap of the girls, Buhari affirmed that as a parent and leader of the country, he understood the torment, frustration and anxiety of the parents and would not spare any effort to ensure the safe return of the girls.
The president said he continued to believe that with the total commitment of the federal government, Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies, and the support of the international community, the girls would be eventually rescued.

Buhari noted that thousands of persons, mostly women and children, who were kidnapped by Boko Haram, had already been rescued and reunited with their families.
The president said he shared the hope of the parents that the Chibok girls would ultimately be rescued and reunited with their families as well.

The president assured the parents that the federal government and security agencies would continue to explore all possible options for the safe return of the girls.
Buhari urged the parents to continue to exercise patience and understanding as “the government works diligently to ensure that the girls are returned home unharmed”.

The president thanked all Nigerians, religious and civil organisations, and the international community for their continued sympathy, support and prayers for the return of the Chibok girls.
The president spoke just as the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement marched on the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday to commemorate the second year of the abduction of the 219 schoolgirls from Chibok and asked Buhari to rescue the girls immediately.

“The most important activity we expect from our federal government and countries with capabilities to support the rescue effort for our 219 girls is to act without any further delay,” the group said in a statement read within the vicinity of the Presidential Villa, adding: “Our government must lead a well-coordinated, coherent, sustained and results-focused SWAT search and rescue team that mobilises every possible intelligence assets available anywhere in the world to rescue our Chibok girls and all other citizens still languishing in the den of terrorists.”

The peaceful march led by the former Minister of Education, Mrs. Obi Ezekwesili, was however stopped a few metres from the first pilot gate of the Villa by the police who expressed concerns about “the security implication of allowing the procession into the Villa”.

A mild argument immediately ensued as Ezekwesili engaged Grace Longe, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), who led the operations, demanding to know why in spite of the peaceful nature of the procession, it was being denied access to the seat of government.

“The authority is not denying you access per se but we have to stop you here because of the security implication of having the march proceed into the Villa,” Longe, who is also the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Asokoro, said, arguing: “Since this place is within the precinct of the Villa, you might as well have your press conference here.”

Ezekwesili appealed to members of the BBOG group for calm but quickly seized the opportunity to rebuke the federal government. “It is totally inappropriate that this has happened. We are a civil movement; we mean no trouble; we mean no harm; we simply wanted to exercise our right of access to the seat of power that is accountable to us.

“I assure you that the citizens of this country will not allow government to operate as though we are still under military rule. We are not,” she said.
Saying the group was a law abiding organisation, the former minister prevailed on her members not to proceed beyond the human barricade formed by policewomen, some of them in anti-riot gear, but insisted that the planned press conference would hold in front of the barricade.

Thereafter in a statement read by one of the group’s leaders, Aisha Yesufu, the group expressed disappointment in the failure of the government to find and rescue the girls, 731 days after they were abducted by the terrorists.

“The truth must be told: Nigeria has disappointingly failed those 219 schoolgirls for too long. Two years is unacceptably a long time for young women to be left as captives of terrorists. Not only Nigeria, but the world has failed our girls. We all as humanity have failed our girls in not doing all we can to ensure their rescue these past 731 days,” it said.

It said its members and the parents of the girls were devastated by the feedback received from Buhari, seven months into his administration, which indicated that the government had no clue about the place of captivity of the girls.

“We are still puzzled at the fact that the president in our meeting of January 2016 inferred that the Chibok girls were not yet rescued because the government ‘lacked credible intelligence on the whereabouts of the girls’,” BBOG said.

But in spite of its disappointment with the government’s efforts, the group said it believed there was still hope that the girls would be found and rescued alive, citing a resent video released by the terrorist Boko Haram organisation, which was aired by CNN showing 15 of the girls being interviewed alive by the terrorists.

“Yet, hope endures. That hope has been cautiously renewed by the recent release of a proof of life video of some of the abducted girls identified by some of their parents,” BBOG said.
The group, which had been agitating for more government commitment to the rescue of the girls for 716 of the 731 days of their abduction, called on the federal government to redouble its rescue efforts, even as it appealed to the international community to place at Nigeria’s disposal all the intelligence arsenal that could help in finding and bringing the girls back home.

“Our movement shall not stop reminding our president and the federal government of their constitutional mandate and his personal pledge to rescue our Chibok girls. For 716 days, we have advocated relentlessly and shall continue until our girls are rescued,” it said.

Yesterday’s march started at the Unity Fountain in the Central Area sit-out of the group with six-year-old Christabel Audu, a Chibok girl, leading the procession that included some members of the Chibok community in Abuja and some of the parents and relations of the abducted girls.

Many of them said they were at a loss as to why the federal government had been unable to rescue the girls.
“The government said it had defeated Boko Haram, yet none of our girls has been rescued. What kind of victory is that?” asked Nkeki Mutah, a Chibok man who said two of the abducted girls were his nieces.
The Boko Haram terrorists abducted 276 girls from their school, Government Secondary School, Chibok on April 14, 2014. At various times, 57 of them managed to escape and returned home, leaving 219 of them in captivity.

Following the perceived lackadaisical attitude of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration towards the rescue of the girls, the BBOG group was formed to agitate for a responsive action from government.
Hoping that with the advent of a new government led by Buhari, there would be more concerted efforts at finding the girls, the group met with the president twice, first in July 2015 and later in January 2016.
But it said yesterday that it was disappointed that the administration had not done enough in almost a year in office to find and rescue the girls, vowing that it would not relent in its advocacy to attract a more responsible approach to the issue from the government.

Similarly, the parents of the schoolgirls told a federal government delegation who had been sent to Chibok in remembrance of the second anniversary of their kidnapping, that they had been living in pain ever since their daughters were taken away by members of the Boko Haram sect.
The parents, who pleaded with the federal government delegation led by the Minister of Environment, Mrs. Amina Mohammed, Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, and her Works, Power and Housing counterpart, Mr. Mustapha Baba Shehuri, said only the release of the girls and their subsequent reunion with them could relieve them of pain.

The leader of the parents of the abducted girls, Mr. Yakubu Nkeki said the grief and sorrow over their missing daughters was still boldly written on their faces.
In what sound like a poem to the missing girls, Nkeki said: “We cannot fathom your definite location and the condition you are in right now. Are you alive or dead? Are you pregnant, put to bed or empty. Have you eaten the food of your choice or forced to eat something against your will? Have you taken your bath today? How do you take care of yourself during your menstrual flow?”

He lamented that nobody could answer some of the posers except the abductors of their daughters, urging the government to step up efforts at freeing the girls.
Nkeki stated that the federal government was not doing enough to free the girls, even as he appealed to the Borno State government to rebuild their destroyed school.

Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima, who accompanied the ministers to Chibok, said former President Jonathan should be blamed for the woes of the Chibok parents.
He argued that the schoolgirls would have been freed a few days after the abduction had the president acted.
He said: “The president didn’t even believe the adduction took place. Perhaps that was why he and his wife never visited Chibok even once.”

Commenting on the recent statement by his Ekiti State counterpart, Ayo Fayose, Shettima said: “One noisy governor even recently said the abduction of our daughters was false. This clearly shows their mentality.”
He however appealed to the parents and the entire nation to pray for the return of the schoolgirls and peace in the country.

He challenged the people to submit lists of indigenous contractors of Chibok extraction to the government for consideration for the award of contracts for the building of new schools and a hospital in Chibok.
Also in attendance were Senators Ali Ndume (Borno Central) and Binta Garba (Adamawa North), who joined others at Government Secondary School, Chibok, to pray for the return of the teenagers kidnapped two years ago.
Senators Ndume and Binta in their separate remarks appealed to the parents and families of the girls to be united in prayers.

“President Buhari is committed to securing the release of the girls but we need to be focused and support the government. It is not time for blame,” he said, a position supported by Senator Binta.
She said the presence of government delegation, senators and other senior officials in Chibok to pray with the people underscored the sensitivity of the presidency to the Chibok issue.

The Minister of Environment also announced the donation of a truckload of food items and clothing for the mothers of the missing girls. They were also given cash gifts.

The Chairman of Chibok Local Government, Abba Lawan thanked the federal government delegation and the state government, as well as the initiator of BBOG group, Ms. Bala Usman, who was present at the commemorative event.

Meanwhile, former British Prime Minister and UN Special Envoy for Global Education, Mr. Gordon Brown, in a statement yesterday expressed concern that the 219 Chibok girls were still desperate but powerless after 730 days in captivity.

In the statement sent exclusively to THISDAY, he said that the girls were still relying on a miracle, adding that they and their families deserved better.
“As we mark the second anniversary of the abduction and disappearance of 276 teenagers from a north eastern town in Nigeria, we have all done far too little to secure their release.
“The girls, all studying hard at school before their mass kidnapping, are now a symbol of our apparent weakness to protect young lives.

“The exact whereabouts of the schoolgirls – most of whom are believed to be between the ages of 16 and 18 – remains unclear. In January 2016, the Nigerian military were reported to have freed 1,000 women held captive by Boko Haram, yet none of them were girls from Chibok.
“It has been claimed that some were sold into slavery for N2,000 (about $10) each; others had been forcibly married to militants.
“It has also been reported that Boko Haram has secretly issued a massive ransom demand of N10 billion (around $50 million).

“There had previously been talks about a prisoner exchange – overseen at one stage by the Red Cross – but that deal floundered after the Nigerian government said it did not hold any of the jailed commanders on a list given to them by Boko Haram,” he said.
He expressed sadness that any news about the girls of Chibok has now become rumour, hearsay or theory and the harsh reality is that the group, most with dreams of university and careers, have vanished from the face of the earth as the world idly waits.

“Two years on and still their parents wake up each morning not knowing whether their daughters are alive or dead, married or single or violated as slaves. They surely deserve more than a forlorn hope.
“The treatment of the Chibok girls is among the worst of the horrors inflicted daily on children in conflict zones in a rising number of civil wars which are now at their highest level in 40 years.
“Not since the ending of World War II have so many – 30 million girls and boys – become displaced from their homes. Never outside the context of world wars have so many children – 10 million – become refugees.
“There is no period in history when so many schools in so many countries been subject to so many barbaric terror attacks,” he added.

He was of the view, however, that the UN Security Council could intervene and encourage the Nigeria – with the support of the Americans, the French, the Chinese and the British – to undertake enhanced air surveillance and potential action on the ground to secure the sighting and release of the girls. “And we could and should do far more to protect children from attacks and abductions when in school.

“To show the kidnappers will be punished, the Security Council should adopt a resolution, under which the act of abductions of children will in future trigger an action making these terrorists ‘listed’ by the United Nations Secretary General so that full weight of international pressure is brought to bear.
“All Governments should now support a Declaration on Safe Schools, stating, as Norway has done, that attacks on schools, colleges and universities are crimes against humanity.

“And the international community should ensure the funds for guards, for cameras and simple gates to protect schools in conflict zones.

“This means we must work, at the World Humanitarian Summit, towards increasing education’s emergency aid funding, which is still only one per cent of the humanitarian budget,” he said.

Here are five things I’ve learned from living with a guy:
1. House guests of all shapes and sizes are welcome.

You better get used to sharing your bathroom, kitchen, living room and sometimes even your bedroom with unwelcome visitors.

These guests will think it’s acceptable to eat your leftover food, sleep in your bed and soak in your bathtub, all without paying rent.

No, I’m not talking about the girls they bring home (although this is most likely true, too).

I’m referring to the ants, flies, centipedes, cockroaches, moths and other creepy-crawlies that probably moved in long before you.

Do you think your male roomies notice these squatters? Probably not.

But they sure will bug the hell out of you (no pun intended).

My first shopping trip after moving in? To the hardware store to build up my army against bugs.

I will show no mercy, so I bought both Raid Multi Insect Killer 7 and Raid Max Bug Barrier Defense Marker.

It’s my own personal death serum, just like the one that Jeanine Matthews uses in the “Divergent” series — not even the divergent bugs, like Tris, will be able to resist it.
There must be fart-scented air freshener hiding somewhere.


1. I hate to break it to you, but no matter how many candles you light, fresheners you spray or waxes you melt, the fart smell will never go away.

Places that are inhabited by someone of the male species have so much flatulence floating through the air that there is no hope of it ever circulating its way out.

And eventually, you’ll probably get used to the foul stench. Just remember when you invite people over, it’ll invade their noses as soon as they open the door.




2. Another important tip to remember: If you see one of them heading toward the bathroom with an iPad, run as far away as you possibly can. I’m serious. Get out of there.

When they bring electronic devices with them, it means they’ll be in there for a while.

Trust me, you will not want to be anywhere near the apartment when they decide to blow up the bathroom. (And if you are, you may want to stock up on nose plugs and Glade. You’re gonna need it.)



3. The fridge looks like it belongs in a convenience store.

There will most likely be an entire shelf (or two) of beer, styrofoam containers filled with month-old takeout food and plenty of eggs and meat (because even guys who don’t work out seem to make protein their biggest priority).

They’ll stare at you wide-eyed when you stock the fridge with kale and grapefruit. Why?

Because they probably have no clue when they last ate fruits or vegetables.

On the plus side, the inability to cook is a male trait that goes in your favor. Why?

First of all, you don’t have to worry about them eating your food. When I lived with eight other girls, there were always angry texts like, “WHO ATE MY CELERY?” or, “I’M MISSING AN AVOCADO!”

A bro would much rather eat his week-old mac and cheese than your fresh vegetables and homemade hummus.

And second? You are sure to have clean utensils every time you want to cook.

When you’re the only one who uses the cookware, you won’t come across rice cemented to the bottom of an improperly washed pot, or plates with some sort of crust stuck to them.

But, I will warn you, if they ever do decide to cook, open up all of the windows ahead of time.

It will probably just be mac and cheese or noodles, but there’s still a chance they’ll ruin it.

If you prepare properly ahead of time and get some air circulation going, when their dinner starts to burn, all the smoke will begin to filter out immediately.
You have to find somewhere else to watch “The Bachelorette” if a big game falls on a Monday night.



4. Any time you turn on the TV, you can expect it to already be on ESPN. (Or ESPN 2, ESPNews, ESPN Classic, ESPN U, ESPN 3 … you get where I’m going with this.)

There are enough channels for them to always have some sports game they need to watch.

They may even argue that you can’t watch “Dancing With The Stars” because there’s very important polo match going on that they can’t miss.

But then again, this may be another blessing in disguise. How?

Because if you’ve ever watched one of your favorite television shows with a guy, you know they’ll do nothing but ruin it for you.

Unless you want to hear them whine about how reality TV is so scripted, and there’s no way that they can fall in love that quickly, you’re better off leaving the TV on ESPN.
The bathroom will never be clean.


5. You thought the worst part about sharing a bathroom with a guy is he’ll always leave the toilet seat up? Ha, if only.

The worst part is your male roomie might as well be a shedding ape. Guys grow hair quicker than it takes me to get to work.

This rapid growth requires some of them to shave on the daily.

So, what’s the big deal with that?

The big deal is boys are completely blind to the fact that they leave little tiny hairs all over the bathroom.

The sink, the shower, the floor, you name it; it’s probably covered in (what you hope is facial) hair.

You can try and fight this one as much as you want, but there’s no way around it.

The only way to have a clean, hairless bathroom? Make them shave outside.

If you asked all your male friends if they’ve ever hired a prostitute, you might be surprised by their honest answer. A recent survey discovered that 15 percent of American men had paid for sex at some point in their life, and 10 percent of British men have.

The stats surprised me — they were higher than I had expected. But then I realized that I personally know a few men who have frequentedthe services of ladies of the night. A few indulged on a bachelor’s trip to Prague, another hired a prostitute every night on his way home from the pub, and yet another hired services online a few times a month.

So I thought I’d ask them outright: why do you pay for sex? The answers are way simpler than you’d imagine:

1. They want to sleep with MUCH hotter women.

“If I’m being brutally honest, the hottest women I’ve ever f*cked have been sex workers. I would never be able to f*ck women who are ridiculously hot unless they were prostitutes.”

This was the top reason they all gave. I was surprised, since the guys I asked are all good-looking, successful in their chosen fields, and have no problem getting dates. But they all agreed that to sleep with stunning women, the easiest way was simply to pay.

2. They want to be in control.

“I still want to make sure that the woman is having a good time. But truthfully, I’m more concerned that I’m getting what I want, since I paid for it. And because I paid for it, I’m not afraid to ask.”

Most of them said there’s something very hot in being able to ask for what you want in bed and get it, no questions asked. (Although one guy did admit he paid a prostitute once so that SHE could be in charge.) But generally, they all admitted to being more open about what they wanted and more physically satisfied when they paid for sex. Emotionally, of course, remains to be seen.

3. They want to indulge in a fantasy.

“I like to try things — I’m not going to say what — that a girlfriend once told me was kinky. When I pay a hooker, I’m not worried about what I ask for. Nothing shocks them.”

Although most of the guys I spoke to were all single, the old cliché of men asking prostitutes for certain “services” that would offend their wives still seems to exist. One man said that he’d never had better MouthAction in his life than with a prostitute.

4. They want to find the quickest route to having sex.

“Getting a prostitute is so easy: no strings attached, you can choose the woman you want before you purchase, then they arrive at your door. Couldn’t be easier.”

All the guys I spoke to had used different methods of visiting prostitutes. Two used websites, another visited a brothel, and another took a prostitute’s number from a London phone box. But they all agreed: it was the quickest way to get sex when they felt the urge.

5. They want to avoid complications.

“We want to have sex without all the bullsh*t of pretending to be really interested in a girl. When you pay for sex, you don’t have to swap numbers at the end when you know you won’t call. You pay, have sex, she leaves. Everyone’s happy.”

Several of the men had previously had one-night stands with girls who wouldn’t leave them alone after the fact. They said that taking home a girl and sleeping with her seems like a great idea … until the girl suggests meeting again or wants to start dating or having a relationship. As embarrassed as they were to admit it, many of them said the sure-fire way to have no-strings-attached sex is to pay for it.

Period sex. A monthly delight or something to be entirely avoided and never spoken of?

According to the Facebook comments on our recent post about a tampon you can wear during sex, it’s a serious debate.

For some reason, loads of men and women think period sex is ‘gross’, ‘disgusting’, and ‘nasty’.

Which is pretty infuriating, to be honest, because all this squeamishness is just reinforcing the idea that periods are disgusting and shameful, and that – in effect – women’s bodies are, too.

We get that having sex on your period isn’t for every woman. Maybe your PMS doesn’t put you in the mood. Maybe you can’t relax because you’re too worried about spills. Maybe you’ve got crisp white bedsheets.

But if it is something you’re open to, DO IT. There is no reason not to, and so, so many reasons to back up why period sex is a glorious thing.

1. It’s rarely as messy as you think

Unless you have extremely heavy periods, you’re very unlikely to end up in the pool of blood-stained sheets you’re imagining in your mind.

The average amount of blood released during menstruation is between 30 and 40ml. That’s over the course of a few days.

So imagine how little blood is actually being released per minute. Then consider how long your sex session is actually going to last. Hardly any blood. Seriously.

2. And if you do make a mess, you can always clean it up

Lay down an old blanket if it makes you less concerned about stains, and throw any bloody sheets in the wash immediately afterwards. Easy.

3. A reminder: it’s just blood. Nothing bad will happen if it gets on a guy’s dick

It’s not a toxic substance that will transform your sex buddy into PERIODMAN: DEFENDER OF WOMEN’S RIGHTS AND DISTRIBUTOR OF TAMPONS (although that would be seriously cool).

It’s uterine lining and blood. It’s really not a big deal if it goes on a penis. He can just wipe it off.

Any guy that kicks up a fuss about this needs to calm the f*** down and get over their fear of women’s bodies.

4. And on that note, women happily get men’s fluids inside and on them without a big fuss

He came inside you? Then he’s clearly fine with bodily excretions getting shared. There’s no reason for period blood to be any different.

5. Periods are not ‘gross’ or ‘dirty’

They’re natural. They happen every month. They’re just a part of women’s bodies. It’s absolutely absurd that in 2016, we’re still having to explain that periods aren’t anything to be ashamed of.

6. And by having period sex, you’re taking down the stigma surrounding periods and women’s bodies

In a small, private way, sure. But you can pat yourself on the back for doing something positive. Through sex.

7. Having an orgasm can alleviate cramps

Orgasms are natural pain-relievers. They are magical. They’re also a lot more fun than taking a paracetamol.

8. Getting it on can actually shorten your period

All the contracting your uterus gets up to when you’re having an orgasm makes lining and blood come out faster, meaning that frequent sex sessions can reduce the length of your period by a day or two.

9. We’re usually hornier around our periods

Why are we skipping something we really, really want because we’re scared of a little blood?

Admit it, you’re Hot as f*** when your period hits. Give in to what you want. Treat yourself.

10. It’ll make you feel sexier at a time when you’re bloated and feeling like crap

Eating nachos and getting teary at a video of a puppy doesn’t exactly make you feel like a sexy, empowered goddess of high self-esteem.

One way to ramp things up and remind yourself just how sexy you actually are? Having sex. Smart.

11. You won’t need lube

Period blood is a natural lubricant, bro.

12. If you’re really squeamish, there are loads of ways to keep the risk of blood getting everywhere minimal

He can wear a condom, if you’re terrified of the idea of a blood-covered penis.

You can lay a blanket on the bed. You can use a flexible tampon, designed especially for period sex (NEVER, EVER a regular tampon. Always remove these pre-sex, please). There are options.

13. Because everyone’s doing it

People hardly ever talk about having hot, amazing period sex. But trust us, loads of people are doing it and enjoying it.

If it’s not right for you, we’d never say you have to have sex on your period. That’s your choice.

But if shame and embarrassment is the only thing holding you back, take this as your permission to go forth and get ~sensual~: everyone’s doing it, it’s okay, and there’s really nothing to be ashamed of.

Amid efforts by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and independent marketers to ensure the supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the country, fares have increased by over 200 per cent in major cities in the country.

There are signs too, of restiveness in some parts of the country just as Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday appealed to residents of the state to bear with the government over the lingering shortage of fuel and electricity across the state.

In Edo State, some Civil Society Organisations (CSO) yesterday protested against the incessant fuel scarcity and asked President Muhammadu Buhari to curtail his foreign trips and face the challenges at home.

To ease the pains of fuel scarcity in Cross River , the state government says it has begun the monitoring of trucks movement.The Commissioner for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Itaya Asuquo Nyong, said on Tuesday his ministry would follow up trucks at NNPC Calabar depot to ensure that products were made available to independent and major marketers and also to ensure that the people of Cross River and Akwa Ibom states were not short-changed.

Although the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu promised the regular supply of petrol between yesterday and tomorrow, the fuel crises got worse in some parts of the country with commuters resorting to trekking long distances.

This comes as President Buhari is said to have summoned Kachikwu for a brief on the supply of products across the country.
As yesterday, many people were stranded at various bus stops due to a shortage of commercial buses, which are spending several hours in the queue at petrol stations in a bid to buy fuel.The few ones which manage to get the product at the black market have increased fares by over 100 per cent.

For instance, charges from Oshodi to Mile Two which used to be between N50 and N100 have risen to between N200 and N300, depending on the time and type of vehicle available.

Also, taxicabs within the city have increased their charges. Taxi fare from Victoria Island to Ikeja which used to be between N1,500 and N2,000 has increased to about N4,000. Some people have resorted to trekking to their destinations due to lack of commercial vehicles and the high fares. A one-way trip from Lagos to Owerri, Onitsha and Aba which was between N3,000 and N3,500 is now between N4,500 and N5,000.

Motorcyclists and vehicle owners keep vigil at filling stations that have now become battlefields as they struggle to fill their tanks, generating sets and any other fuel-consuming machines.

Explaining efforts put so far into fuel importation, NNPC stated: “A total of 975.32 million litres of white product was distributed and sold by PPMC in the month of February 2016 compared with 939.75 million litres in the month of January2016.

“This comprised 865.47 million litres of PMS, 73.99 million litres of kerosene and 35.85 million litres of diesel. Total sale of white products for the period March 2015 to February 2016 stands at 9.53 billion litres, PMS (8.19 billion litres) accounts for 85.86 per cent. While total special products for the period under review was 5.08 million litres, comprising 2.18 million litres of special products and 2.89 million litres of bunker products.”

The corporation noted that a total value of N74.72 billion naira was collected as sales revenue for white product sold by PPMC in the month of February 2016 compared with 71.62 billion naira collected in the prior month of January 2016.

According to NNPC, total revenues generated from the sales of white products for the period March 2015 to February 2016 stands at 706.59 billion naira where PMS contributed about 89.52 of the revenues collected with a value of
632.55 billion naira.

Nyong, who spoke at a meeting with some major independent marketers in the state as part of efforts in resolving the lingering fuel scarcity in the state that has lasted for over a month, said: “This meeting is not a union meeting but purely a state issue intended to ensure that products reach their destination because the scarcity is biting hard on the people.”

The commissioner said that was one in a series of meetings with major stakeholders in the petroleum industry to ensure that the state was given a fair share in the allocations of petroleum products at the NNPC depot.

According to a statement yesterday by Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the state consumes more than 40 per cent of the fuel and energy needs of the country and therefore appreciates that the impact of the scarcity would be felt more in the state. He however, urged residents to remain calm, orderly and law-abiding as government was doing everything possible within its power to find an immediate solution to the crisis.

“Governor Ambode says he shares the pain and discomfort of Lagosians and assures them that President Muhammadu Buhari is deeply touched by the situation and is working round the clock to alleviate the suffering of the people,” he said.

The protesters in Edo under the aegis of Talakawa Parliament in conjunction with Returnees Foundation and Traders Welfare Union of Nigeria lamented the lingering economic crunch that has bedevilled the economy resulting in untold hardship for her residents.

The leaders of Talakawa Parliament as well as Returnee Foundation and Traders Welfare Union of Nigeria, Kola Edokapyi and Solomom Okoduwa during a peaceful protest to the Edo State Council of Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ), Secretariat in Benin, said it was out of place and painful to see the Commander –in-Chief of the Armed Offices and President touring the countries of the world without realising the poverty, hunger and unemployment Nigerians were faced with coupled with the fuel scarcity in the last four months.

The groups who brandished various placard with inscriptions as “End fuel scarcity now,” ‘‘ Kill corruption, don’t kill Nigerians” and “President Buhari must stop the frequent foreign trips”, decried the untold hardship Nigerians were facing due to the fuel scarcity and public electricity supply challenges.
