His voice can't stop echoing in my head, he saw it, he said it but we couldn't comprehend so quickly, we joked about it. In his voice "Naira will crash, they don't have exports,no companies, no power, they only import. Tissue paper will be more valueable than their Naira. It will happen before your eyes, then you will believe..." http://biafrasay.com/p/322464/in-nnamdi-kanu-s-voice-quot-naira-will-quot |
It has happened |
“Their HATE for President Goodluck Jonathan justifies the suffering in the land. Recession matters not. Hunger matters not. Loss of jobs matter not. Polio matters not. Making a mess of the naira matters not. Fulani Herdsmen matter not. High cost of foodstuffs matter not. Chibok matters not. We have men consumed by their hate for Jonathan and it matters not if Nigeria burns” – PRINCE HENRY NWAZURUAHU SHIELD, FACEBOOK, AUGUST 11th 2016. How right Prince Shield is. His contribution is not only courageous but also insightful and profound. The Buharists and the “lying liars” are blinded by their hate for Jonathan and for those of us that have chosen to stand by him. It is so bad that if their wives were made pregnant by another man they would say that it was Jonathan that was responsible. Yet their record of governance is clear and there for all to see. In one year and two months of President Buhari and his APC’s “Mai Chanji”, Nigeria has become a very different place to what it was before. Our nation has, so to speak, really been ”transformed”. A few examples will suffice. One year two months ago we were the largest producer of oil in Africa but thanks to “Mai Changi” that is no longer the case. One year and two months ago we were the number one destination for foreign investment in Africa but thanks to “Mai Chanji” that is no longer the case. One year and two months ago we were the largest economy in Africa but thanks to “Mai Chanji” that is no longer the case. Sadly it gets worse. In the space of one year and two months the naira has depreciated from N160 Naira to $1 United States Dollar (USD) to N410 Naira to $1 USD. If there is no change in fiscal amd monetary policy anytime soon there is a consensus amongst economic and fiscal experts that by Christmas the Naira would have depreciated to, at best, N500 Naira to $1 USD. One year and two months ago Nigerians could buy a bag of rice for N8000 naira but today they are paying N20,000 naira for that same bag of rice. As Pastor Reno Omokri, a former aide to President Jonathan said, if the minimum wage is N18,000 naira where are the people meant to get the money to buy rice and other basic food commodities for their families? In one year and two months graduate and non-graduate unemployment has soared, banks and companies are retrenching, manufacturers are closing their factories and plants, industries are collapsing, farmers are complaining and businessmen and traders are crying. That is “Mai Chanji” for you. Yet it gets worse. One year and two months ago we were generating 5000 megawatts of power for the electrical grid but today we are generating less than 2000 megawatts. Again one year and two months ago we were making large sums of money from the export of our crude oil but today oil production has been reduced by one third and we we are importing crude oil and refined products from the neighbouring nations of Niger and the Republic of Chad. One year and two months ago the Nigerian Stock Exchange was recovering and on the rise and our banking sector was flourishing and liquid. Today the Stock Exchange has lost 1.6 trillion naira in the last 14 months and our banks have become nothing but weak and barren money-lender stalls and pawn shops. That is “Mai Chanji” for you. In one year and two months our Air Force, once the pride of Afrcan skies, has been reduced to nothing but a cow and sheep recovery agency. In one year and two months our army, once one of the most professional, feared, disciplined and respected in Africa, has been turned into a civilian-killing machine which has unleashed on the very people that they are paid to be protecting. For the record they slaughtered 1000 innocent Shiite Muslims in the streets of Zaria simply because they blocked a road, they worship their god in a different way to others and they are not Sunni Muslims. That is real “Mai Chanji” for you. Again it doesn’t stop there. In one year Boko Haram has redefined itself, resurrected from the dead, acquired new, more dangerous and more sophisticated weapons and leaders, established two equally ruthless factions and come back bigger, stronger and more deadly than ever before. In one year and two months well-armed government-sponsored and government-protected Fulani militias, who pose as herdsmen, are raping and killing innocent and defenceless Nigerians in the farms and towns of the Middle Belt and the south. In one year and two months the majority of Nigerians have been cowered into silence out of fear of persecution and om trepidation of being locked up indefinately by Buhari’s gestapo. That is “Mai Chanji” for you. In one year and two months we have been turned from a democracy where the freedom of speech once reigned and where the criticism of the President and the government was welcome and even encouraged, into a totalitarian police state where the press is muzzled, judges are muscled and legislators are threatened and docked. One year and two months ago judges were reverred, court orders were honored and respected in the land and the rule of law prevailed. Today court orders are violated and treated with contempt and impunity, the rule of law has been reduced to an inconsequential and empty mantra and members of the Judiciary are threatened with criminal investigation, media trials and witchunts, childish probes and baseless criminal prosecutions if they do not play ball and do the bidding of the security agencies and the executive. That is real “Mai Chanji” for you. Four years ago our sports men and women went to the London Olympics with their heads held up high and with all the kit and resources that they needed but today our sports men and women at the Rio Olympics have been begging foreigners and Nigerians alike on the internet for transportion, food, clothes and their allowances. That is what ” Mai Chanji” has done to us. Yet one wonders just how low can we go and how bad can it get? Is this not evidence of a curse? Is it not God’s judgement? Is this not a change or “chanji” from light to darkness? Is this not what we warned Nigerians about? Is this not what we told them would happen if they gave the Haramites power? Did we not tell them that the APC broom was nothing but a symbol of witchcraft and that their fanatical supporters had been put under a terrible sorcerer’s spell? Many of those that once supported President Buhari and his party are now lamenting and publicly recanting in bitter pain. They are asking the nation to forgive them for their ignorance and short-sightedness. Some of them have even been locked up simply for having the courage to criticise the government and party that they once worked for and swore by. Yet the suffering has only just begun. Things will get far worse before they get any better. This is because the darkest part of the night always comes just before the morning. The truth is that this government is a plague. They have brought nothing but sickness, poverty and hardship. They are an affliction that thrive on the suffering of the people. They are the incubus and succubus spirits that feed on the nations glory and that suck the life out of the people. Their motivation is pure and unadulterated hate and their objective is to impoverish Nigeria, to silence the opposition, to intimidate and enslave the people, to satisfy their insatiable lust for power and to impose a hideous and ungodly ethnic and religious agenda. Wickedness is their forte, the abuse of power is their modus, brute force is their language and lies, deceit and propaganda are their weapons of warfare. They are nothing but bullies and fascists and like all bullies and fascists their time will soon come to an end. Permit me to conclude this contribution with a profound question. Does anyone remember the the following submissions and have they not proved to be prophetic? The first came from the embattled IPOB leader Mr. Nnamdi Kanu who has been in illegal detention for the better part of the last one year. He said the following on Radio Biafra on the 6th of February 2014: “They campaign vigorously for elections, you would think, they are coming to grow the economy, enthrone justice, breed unity and tolerance, love for one another. No, they are coming to enthrone Hausa Fulani supremacy, to reposition the security agencies by sacking all competent hands and replace them with their kinsmen in order to drive their ethnic domination of the Biafrans, the Fulani herdsmen will be armed and encouraged to slaughter us with impunity and their masters will protect them. They are coming to ensure that my people are enslaved forever. Those who do not believe me will soon see it happen before their very own eyes”. These are interesting words which have proved to be true. With what is happening in Nigeria today it is clear that Mr. Kanu has not only been proved right but he has also been vindicated. The second came from none other than President Goodluck Jonathan himself. In Abuja on Saturday, 10th December 2014 he said.the following: “The choice before Nigerians in the coming elections is simple: A choice between going forward or going backwards, between the old ways and the new ways; between freedom and repression; between a record of visible achievements and beneficial reforms and desperate power-seekers with empty promises”. Can anyone dispute the fact that both President Jonathan and Mr. Kanu are amongst the prophets? Welcome to ‘Mai Chanji’ http://biafrasay.com/p/322440/welcome-to-mai-chanji |

Let's see how it goes |
The leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB and Director of Radio Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been languishing in detention since October 14, 2015 when the Directorate of State Services, DSS, arrested him. In spite of court orders for him to be released on bail, the Federal Government has stubbornly held on to him. He is being tried for treason: allegedly operating a pirate radio outfit that broadcast subversive messages and leading a group which is openly committed to the dismemberment of Nigeria, which is what the independence of Biafra will amount to. What it simply means is that Kanu is a political detainee/prisoner. In many cases, such prisoners can hope for a reprieve from either prolonged, life or death sentence through political negotiations by his comrades, followers or sympathisers based on their willingness to shift grounds or the willingness of their opponents (the government) to shift grounds. For instance, Kurdish separatist leader, Abdullah Ocalan, was sentenced to death for a treasonable offence similar to that of Kanu, but when he renounced violence and opted for a political solution to the independence of the Kurds from Turkey, he was eventually granted reprieve. On the other hand, anti-Apartheid leader, Dr Nelson Mandela remained unbending about his desire for the overthrow of the Apartheid regime, and had to spend 27 long years in jail. It took major shifts in international attitudes to the Apartheid regime and a willing reformer in the person of President FW De Klerk for conditions acceptable to Mandela to emerge for him to be released. He then joined a political process that eventually saw him becoming the President of South Africa on the platform of his party, the African National Congress, ANC. However, unlike Ocalan and Kanu, Mandela was not fighting for separation but majority rule. The Buhari regime refused to entertain any notion of freedom for Kanu until the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA’s, massive bombing of our oil infrastructure in the Niger Delta held the country’s leadership by the balls. When the Presidency shifted grounds and became more amenable to a negotiated settlement to enable the country resume her full exploitation of the oil that she had depended on for over 40 years, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, re-entered the picture. MEND, which had propelled the earlier version of the Niger Delta militancy that ended in the amnesty arrangement, saw an opportunity to wrest a deal that would accommodate the interests of the nation’s recently emerged unified political bloc, the South East and South-South. Thus, came the proposal for the release of political prisoners, including the Okah brothers apprehended for MEND’s acts of terror some years back, and of course, Kanu, if they would renounce their agitations for separatism. Though the Federal Government has not yet openly admitted that such talks were ongoing, Kanu directly made it clear he was not game for any such deal. It was Biafra or nothing. Even his wife, Lolo Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, issued a statement saying: “Anybody thinking that my husband will renounce Biafra is certifiably insane”. The truth is that Kanu has found himself in the situation that the late Bashorun Moshood Abiola did when he was detained by General Sani Abacha after the Epetedo Declaration on June 11, 1994: he is now trapped in jail. Abacha and his supporters would have been overjoyed to let Abiola go only if he would renounce the struggle for his annulled presidential mandate, but Abiola’s supporters, who were fighting – and some were dying – for him and the struggle, would have none of that. Fancy what would have happened if Abiola had broken bounds, renounced his mandate and come back to open society? He would instantly have become a persona non-grata! The same National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, civil society groups and the Yoruba nationalist activists who were ready to lay down their lives for him would have turned viciously against him. His life and property (and possibly those of his loved ones) could have been in danger, for the precise reason that many had been killed and people’s property destroyed by the government forces for coming out to fight for him. Kanu’s case is even more extreme in that the Army has killed hundreds of unarmed pro-Biafra protesters. They have been given heroes’ burials since the Biafra protests started in the middle of 2015. Many are also being tried for treason. With the kind of vehement emotion that these young men (and women) carry this Biafra thing, Kanu’s renunciation of the struggle would result in consequences better not imagined. He is far safer and better in jail, a hero and symbol of the struggle. He had better settle down for a long stay and hope that like in South Africa, the political atmosphere can suddenly change to accommodate a settlement terms that could safely propel him and his loyalists out of prison. I don’t know how this can happen, but there is nothing permanent in politics – even the much-touted “indivisibility” of Nigeria. No political arrangement lasts forever, much less the Nigerian type which is guaranteed mainly by force, the power of oil and the indecisive character of those who complain the loudest. One good thing going for Kanu and all the pro-Biafra groups is that they profess non-violence. But IPOB’s unbridled sabre-rattling over the airwaves is almost as effective in mobilising the angry youth against the Nigerian state – if not more so – as a call to arms. I don’t think that any government (even if headed by an Igbo) will look forward to releasing Kanu to go and continue from where he stopped. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has taken up a brave and difficult struggle. It is going to be a long one as well. Going forward may be difficult, but going back will be impossible, as Ghanaian playwright, Kofi Awoonor-Williams would say. But in politics, miracles do happen. http://biafrasay.com/p/322390/nnamdi-kanu-s-unenviable-dilemma |

Finally, fuel will be sold at *60 Naira per litre* from *Monday 8th August 2016* !! President Buhari made it clear 2 hours ago on a private interview in Aso Rock, that fuel will be sold at *60 Naira per litre* starting from *Monday 8th August, 2016*. President Buhari also said that, the issue of Naira falling in value will be resolved in less than a week, he made it clear that by the time the naira issue is resolved, *60 Naira will = 1Dollar* and that will be in 3 weeks from now, it will become *one Naira - one Dollar (#1 = $1).* President Buhari also said that he promised to change Nigeria at the right time and that right time is now. He also wanted to talk about corruption, but my *TV* exploded immediately after he mentioned the Word, *"Corruption"* and that was when I woke up and discovered that it was all a *Dream*. I sincerely apologize for playing with your emotions. Happy sunday http://biafrasay.com/p/322318/finally-fuel-will-be-sold-at-60-naira-per-litre |

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has put on hold admissions into the law programme of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Julius Okojie, NUC’s Executive Secretary has said. Okojie said at an interactive dinner with newsmen on Thursday that the moratorium would be in place pending the resolution of issues with the Council on Legal Education (CLE). The CLE has persistently disallowed NOUN’s law graduates from being admitted into the Nigerian Law School. The council has argued that the teaching and study of law was clinical and cannot be done by correspondence. “This matter is being addressed because it is between us, CLE and the university. “What we have done in the interim is stop new intake into that programme so that they do not have a backlog; we are addressing the issue. “I must say that the law programme in National Open University (NOUN) was approved by the NUC; it is our responsibility. “When CLE came up with the idea of no part time law, NOUN did not consider law a part time programme by their mode; so they did not stop the programme.’’ According to him, NOUN’s law programme is not conceived as part time as there is no need studying if one will not attend law school. He urged CLE to admit NOUN’s law graduates and give the institution its quota in terms of how many students they could admit. OKojie confirmed that Nigerian students in the Diaspora were transferring to local universities not just because of forex crisis but also for improving standard of university education. Few weeks after the Federal Government scrapped the post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) as a prerequisite for admission into universities in the country, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released a new grading system for the 2016/2017 session. In the new system candidates seeking admission into universities would be awarded points according to their scores in JAMB and performance at the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE] and Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO). Points that would accrue to candidates, according to the official grading system released by the body, are as follows: JAMB SCORE GRADE POINTS 180 – 185 —————— 20 points 186 – 190———————— 21points 191 – 195————————- 22points 196 – 200———————– 23points 201 – 205———————– 24points 206 – 210——————— 25 points 211 – 215———————– 26 points 216 – 220———————— 27 points 221 – 225———————— 28 points 226 – 230———————— 29 points 231 – 235———————— 30 points 236 – 240———————– 31 points 241 – 245———————– 32 points 246 – 250———————— 33 points 251 – 300—————— 34- 43points 300 – 400————— 44–60 points As stated in the new grading system, candidates that had single sitting of WASSCE or NECO SSCE would be awarded 10 points, while those that had their results at more than one sitting would score only 2 points. Also students with A1 in subjects offered at the SSCE would score six points, B2 and B3 would garner four points, while C4 – C6 would be graded three points. The new system has tended to collapse the admission process into one though the universities will still decide the cut off marls for various courses. Reacting to the new development, the Vice President, Association of African Universities (AAU), Prof Olusola Oyewole, said the Committee of Vice Chancellors would study the development and make its positions clear at the right time. He said it would be too early to judge the new policy even when it has not been implemented to ascertain how fair it would be to the university system. Oyewole, who is also the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), said the policy has to be studied before further comments. The decision to scrap post-UTME was reached at the 2016 Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions to Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions in Nigeria. The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, while declaring open the meeting, said since the federal government and stakeholders had confidence in the examinations conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, there was no need for other screening examinations by universities. Reactions poured in torrents across the country. Some described the decision as a drawback to the concerted efforts to improve the quality of students admitted into the nation’s universities, while others hailed the decision as one that would restore the autonomy of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Seasoned educationist and Proprietor of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola, (SAN), described the decision as a regrettable mistake, noting that many of the students admitted into Nigerian universities through JAMB were not only academically deficient but also unfit to justify the high marks scored in JAMB examinations. Also, former Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof Tolu Odugbemi, held similar opinion. He said the decision to scrap the post-UTME without proper research was ill-conceived and utterly worrisome. He maintained that universities should have the right to admit suitable students based on relevant and objective criteria. Former Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik), Awka, Prof Boniface Egboka, said the emplacement of the post-UTME was widely discussed in the public and accepted for use by Nigerian universities. He noted that large number of students pass JAMB exam every year, but further screening often reveal that they were not qualified. He argued that conducting the post-UTME allowed universities to select the best out of the mammoth candidates. A contrary view was expressed by the former Vice Chancellor, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State, Prof. Ibrahim Kolo, who warned that Nigeria cannot allow itself to veer off the lane of international best practices in educational development. He said the credibility of examinations conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has improved remarkably over the years, which had over-ruled the essence of further post-UTME tests by various universities. Kolo explained that the use of external monitors, security agencies, paper and computer test approach, and n computer based test (CBT) had greatly improved the quality and reliability of the results of JAMB examination. “Indeed JAMB has taken the lead already in adopting measures to overcome genuine challenges associated with the use of technology for ease of public transactions in Nigeria while encouraging other public examinations to begin the CBT approach. The problem with us is that we are most often not patient enough to allow innovations to work, even when it is in tandem with international best practices”, he said. When contacted on phone on the new process put in place by JAMB, the PRO of University of Nigeria, Nsukka Chief Okwun Omeaku, said that the university authorities met on Monday before the Sallah break to deliberate on the new point mode of admission. He said that they would reconvene by next Monday before issuing a statement on it, saying that the institution has no choice than to obey the new directive. Chief Omeaku also said that the new admission mode is fantastic as it would eliminate fraud as well as ensure that the best-qualified candidates get admission. http://myschoolforum.com/p/319757/jamb-releases-new-grading-system-for-candidates |
MINISTER of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu has directed all tertiary institutions that have conducted post-UTME examination to immediately refund money taken from candidates. The minister has also declared that post-UTME examinations already taken are null and void; threatening that any institution caught still conducting the examination under any guise would be sanctioned. The minister made this position known in a press statement issued by Deputy Director Press and Public Relations, Ben Bem Goong. The strong-worded statement reiterated the Ministry’s position that post-UTME examinations have been cancelled with immediate effect and no institution should conduct such examinations. The minister warned that once the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has certified a candidate worthy of admission into any of the tertiary institutions, that candidate must be deemed fit by the institution. According to the statement, students who have already been offered admission by JAMB may be screened by the institutions but this must not involve the conduct of any other entry examination. The candidates can be screened by verifying their certificates but not through the conduct of examinations. The minister stated that it is unnecessary to subject students to further examinations when they have been offered examinations by JAMB since they will still have to go through between eight or 12-semester examinations throughout their four to six years study in the institutions. The minister, therefore, directed the National Universities Commission (NUC) and appropriate departments in the Ministry to communicate the directive to relevant agencies and institutions to ensure strict compliance. http://myschoolforum.com/p/319749/ministry-of-education-orders-all-universities-to-refund-post |
