https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kFAFrKOoeg A media aide to Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, is facing public backlash over allegations that he accessed and shared sensitive voter information obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) administrative system. The controversy centres on Lere Olayinka, who was accused by critics of posting screenshots containing voter registration details reportedly drawn from a restricted INEC web interface. According to the report by Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), the shared information appeared to include details of a voter’s registration transfer application, sparking concerns that the data may have originated from an internal INEC portal not meant for public access. The incident gained attention after Olayinka shared the material while commenting on a voter transfer linked to actor and politician Emeka Ike, who is reportedly involved in political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. The post immediately triggered reactions on social media, with users questioning how a political aide could have access to what they described as confidential electoral data. Some users alleged that the information suggested possible exposure of INEC’s backend or administrative systems, raising fears over voter privacy and data security. Critics online have called for an investigation by security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), to determine whether there was unauthorized access to the electoral body’s systems and whether any laws governing data protection were breached. As of the time of reporting, neither Olayinka nor INEC has issued an official response to the allegations. The development has added to ongoing public scrutiny of Nigeria’s electoral systems, particularly concerns around digital security and the protection of voter information ahead of future elections.

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the sum of N100 million over alleged violations of national security laws. El-Rufai is being prosecuted by the Department of State Services (DSS) following comments he allegedly made during a national television interview in which he claimed to have wiretapped the communication of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. Delivering ruling on the bail application, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik imposed a series of stringent conditions that must be met before the former governor can perfect his bail. According to the court, the surety must reside in either Maitama or Asokoro districts of Abuja and must provide the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property to the court registry. The court further directed that the surety must be a federal civil servant on Grade Level 17 or above and must submit evidence of salary payments for at least the last three months, alongside a bank authentication letter from the branch manager within the court’s jurisdiction. Other requirements include a sworn affidavit of means, a signed bail bond, a recent passport photograph, a verification letter from the surety’s department, and a tax clearance certificate covering the last six months. Justice Abdulmalik also ordered El-Rufai to surrender all valid passports to the court and report to the DSS headquarters on the last Friday of every month at 10 a.m. pending the determination of the case. The judge warned that any breach of the bail conditions would result in immediate revocation. In addition, the court directed the former governor to submit a letter of attestation from the Chairman of the Kaduna State Traditional Council. The court subsequently ordered an accelerated hearing of the matter. Tension, however, erupted outside the court premises shortly after proceedings ended, as supporters linked to activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore reportedly clashed with security personnel while El-Rufai exited the complex. Eyewitnesses described scenes of shouting and commotion as security operatives attempted to control the crowd and maintain order around the courthouse. The case has continued to generate widespread political and legal reactions, with analysts closely watching its implications for national security discourse and Nigeria’s evolving political landscape. https://voicenews.com.ng/court-grants-el-rufai-n100m-bail-over-alleged-national-security-breach/

Aliko Dangote has rejected an attempt by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to increase its stake in the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, saying the company wants more Nigerians to participate in its planned public listing. Dangote disclosed this during an interview, explaining that the state oil company sought to acquire additional shares beyond its existing 7.25 per cent stake in the $20 billion refinery. According to him, the request was declined because the refinery plans to go public, allowing broader ownership participation from Nigerian investors. The NNPC had initially acquired a 7.25 per cent stake in the refinery for $1 billion in 2021, with an option to purchase an additional 12.75 per cent stake by June 2024. However, the company later reduced its planned ownership from 20 per cent and did not exercise the remaining option. The refinery, located in Lekki, Lagos, currently has a refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day and is considered Africa’s largest refinery. Dangote has also announced plans to expand the facility’s capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day in the coming years. Dangote noted that recent geopolitical tensions involving the United States and Iran had boosted demand for the refinery’s refined petroleum exports amid disruptions in the global oil market. https://voicenews.com.ng/dangote-rejects-nnpc-bid-to-increase-refinery-stake-ahead-of-public-listing/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzdYT0PxqTw Fresh conversations about a possible 2027 presidential bid by former President Goodluck Jonathan have triggered renewed political debate across Nigeria. Public calls urging Jonathan to return to the presidential race have grown in recent days, but broadcaster Rufai Oseni has raised a question that is resonating widely in political circles. Speaking during a recent analysis, Rufai noted that many of the people now encouraging Jonathan to contest in 2027 were among those who opposed him during the 2015 general election. His remarks have reopened discussion about whether the renewed support reflects a genuine shift in public sentiment or a broader political realignment ahead of the next electoral cycle. Rufai also linked the growing conversation to Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions. Rising living costs, pressure on households and increasing public dissatisfaction have continued to shape national political discourse, with many citizens closely watching potential alternatives ahead of 2027. The discussion further touched on the political calculations surrounding Peter Obi, as analysts assess how opposition dynamics and voter expectations could influence the coming election. Another major issue remains the constitutional debate over Jonathan’s eligibility to contest again. Legal analysts and political observers remain divided, with some arguing that constitutional interpretation could allow another bid, while others insist existing provisions may prevent it. Rufai ended his commentary with a line that quickly gained attention online: “Mr President… can you do it?” https://voicenews.com.ng/rufai-oseni-speaks-strong-warning-to-jonathan-on-2027-ambition/

Wike named former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, Seyi Makinde and former minister Tanimu Turaki, alleging that some leaders were attempting to create what he described as illegitimate party structures while disregarding existing court rulings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrK_VVBvwGc A fresh rift has widened within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party after Nyesom Wike accused senior party figures of fraud and political deception during a media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday. Wike named former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, Seyi Makinde and former minister Tanimu Turaki, alleging that some leaders were attempting to create what he described as illegitimate party structures while disregarding existing court rulings. He argued that the moves amounted to political fraud and questioned the credibility of those driving the latest internal arrangements. The latest confrontation comes amid a widening leadership battle inside the PDP following recent disputes over control of the party’s national structure. Rival camps have disagreed over the legitimacy of meetings, caretaker arrangements and the interpretation of court decisions, deepening uncertainty over who currently holds recognised authority within the party. Wike also challenged party leaders to account for internal financial matters, including funds he said should be publicly explained. His remarks add fresh pressure to an already fragile opposition party as political actors begin positioning ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle. Analysts say the dispute highlights how unresolved legal and political battles inside the PDP could further complicate efforts to rebuild cohesion before the next general election. https://voicenews.com.ng/wike-accuses-wabara-makinde-of-fraudulent-practices/

An Obi and Kwankwaso alliance under the NDC could significantly reshape electoral calculations, combining South-east loyalty with Kano's formidable political machinery, though analysts warn the coalition would still face serious hurdles including national spread, funding, and elite compromise. Giftimoni: |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMjjvhUGTek Adding fresh fuel to the fire, popular journalist Rufai Oseni dropped a bombshell on Arise TV this morning, dismissing claims that Peter Obi abandoned the ADC over court cases. According to Oseni, Obi left because former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had effectively hijacked the party. In the explosive revelation, Oseni argued that the internal power dynamics, not the litigation, were the real reason behind the Peter Obi and Kwankwaso mass defections from the ADC. This aligns with reports that the ADC's internal structure was seen as increasingly skewed in favour of rival aspirants, with competing blocs backing either an Obi/Kwankwaso ticket or an Atiku/Makinde arrangement. An Obi and Kwankwaso alliance under the NDC could significantly reshape electoral calculations, combining South-east loyalty with Kano's formidable political machinery, though analysts warn the coalition would still face serious hurdles including national spread, funding, and elite compromise. Wike urged party members to align with the court’s decision and operate within the framework of the law, warning against actions that could destabilize the party again. Giftimoni: |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WglUyDjqq1o Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that the recent judgment by the Supreme Court of Nigeria has effectively brought an end to the prolonged leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking shortly after the ruling in Abuja, Wike said the apex court’s decision has resolved all disputes over parallel leadership structures in the party, affirming that there is now only one recognized PDP. The Supreme Court dismissed appeals challenging earlier rulings on the controversial 2025 national convention held in Ibadan, which had produced a rival leadership faction. The court upheld decisions from lower courts that invalidated the convention, describing it as having been conducted in violation of existing court orders. According to Wike, the judgment confirms the legitimacy of the current party leadership and nullifies claims by any opposing groups. He emphasized that the era of factional divisions within the PDP is over, stressing that “there is no more faction—only one united party.” The ruling is seen as a major turning point for the opposition party, which has been embroiled in internal disputes for months. The crisis stemmed from disagreements over the conduct of the Ibadan convention and competing claims to the party’s leadership. Wike urged party members to align with the court’s decision and operate within the framework of the law, warning against actions that could destabilize the party again. With the verdict, the PDP is expected to refocus its efforts on rebuilding unity and strengthening its position ahead of future political contests. https://voicenews.com.ng/supreme-court-ruling-ends-pdp-factional-crisis-wike/

The statement was made during a recent church service at the ministry’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun State. According to Oyedepo, he has intervened in past kidnap incidents involving church members and believes such actions demonstrated spiritual authority over dangerous situations. Speaking to the congregation, the cleric recounted an incident involving one of the church’s pastors who was kidnapped. He said he spoke directly to the abductors during a ransom call and later learned the victim was released soon after. Oyedepo also shared another testimony involving a female church member who was reportedly abducted. Usman emphasized that many who joined the Labour Party at the time did so because they believed in the principles Obi represented, especially justice, inclusion, and equal opportunity. Giftimoni: |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkWj-i88WVY The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Nenadi Usman, has opened up about the key role Peter Obi played in attracting her, and many others, to the party ahead of the 2023 elections. Speaking , Usman explained that Obi’s message of fairness and equity strongly influenced her decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to her, Obi didn’t just convince her personally, his appeal resonated with a wide group of politicians who felt aligned with those values. She noted that dissatisfaction within the PDP, particularly over its decision not to zone the presidential ticket to the South, pushed her and others to reconsider their political stance. Despite being from the North, Usman said she believed the move was unfair, making Obi’s message even more compelling. Usman emphasized that many who joined the Labour Party at the time did so because they believed in the principles Obi represented, especially justice, inclusion, and equal opportunity. However, she also pointed out that returning to the party under current rules may not be straightforward for Obi. She explained that the Electoral Act requires party registers to close weeks before primaries, making late entries difficult. Looking ahead, Usman said the Labour Party plans to refocus on its founding ideals, highlighting social justice and equal opportunity as its core direction moving forward. https://voicenews.com.ng/how-peter-obi-convinced-nenadi-usman-to-join-labour-party/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_Msqh4uj9s A Nigerian woman living in Japan has ignited widespread conversation online after sharing her surprise at how political candidates campaign for high-level offices in the country. In a video that has since gone viral, she described witnessing governorship-level candidates standing on busy streets, personally handing out flyers and engaging directly with members of the public while explaining their manifestos. According to her, the experience was both shocking and eye-opening, especially when compared to the style of political campaigning commonly seen in Nigeria. Rather than large convoys, billboards, or massive rallies, the candidates she observed relied on face-to-face interaction, patience, and consistency to connect with voters. The video quickly gained traction on social media, with many Nigerians expressing mixed reactions. Some praised the simplicity and accessibility of the approach, noting that it reflects a stronger connection between leaders and citizens. Others questioned whether such a model would be feasible within Nigeria’s political environment, where campaigns are often driven by scale, funding, and visibility. Political analysts say the contrast highlights deeper systemic differences between the two countries. Japan’s electoral system places strict limits on campaign spending and emphasizes direct voter engagement, while Nigeria’s political landscape often rewards broader media presence and large-scale mobilization. For many observers, the viral moment has gone beyond mere curiosity. It has triggered reflection on the nature of political leadership, accountability, and what meaningful engagement with citizens should look like. As conversations continue online, one question remains central: could a more grassroots, people-centered approach to campaigning ever take root in Nigeria, or are such differences simply a reflection of two very different political systems? https://voicenews.com.ng/nigerian-woman-in-japan-sparks-debate-after-revealing-street-level-campaigning-by-governorship-candidates/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx4iHoJr4jw Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has generated buzz on social media after participating in a casual football match with a group of young men, where he successfully converted a penalty kick. The moment, captured in a short video circulating widely online, shows Obi stepping up confidently to take the spot kick amid cheers from onlookers. The crowd erupted in celebration after he found the back of the net, with chants and applause highlighting the lighthearted atmosphere. According to posts shared on X (formerly Twitter), the match took place earlier in the day, with Obi joining the youths on the pitch in an informal setting. The clip quickly gained traction, amassing thousands of views and reactions within hours. Supporters praised Obi’s fitness and relatability, noting his willingness to engage directly with young people. Some users described the moment as a reflection of his energetic persona and grassroots appeal, especially as conversations around the 2027 general elections begin to take shape. However, not all reactions were favorable. Critics questioned the timing and intent of the appearance, suggesting it could be politically motivated. Others compared it to recent public engagements where Obi has referenced his youthful days, including a visit to Paul University in Awka. Despite the mixed reactions, the video has added to ongoing discussions about political image-building and youth engagement in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape. The development underscores the growing role of social media in shaping public perception, as political figures increasingly connect with audiences through informal and spontaneous moments. https://voicenews.com.ng/peter-obi-scores-penalty-in-casual-match-with-youths-sparks-reactions-online/

The ADC convention and the controversy surrounding it have underscored growing tensions within Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly regarding the role of electoral institutions and the strength of opposition parties ahead of future elections. Giftimoni: |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV15SOA7-0s You cannot get away with corruption in the ADC government. You cannot get away with compromising with terrorists and criminals and making life impossible in Nigeria. INEC is being used to scuttle democracy in Nigeria. The Federal Government must know, we fought the military to bring democracy to this country, and we will fight again to restore it. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has gone ahead with its national convention despite an ongoing internal crisis and uncertainty over its recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The convention, held on Tuesday by a faction loyal to the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, has further deepened tensions within the party while raising concerns about compliance with electoral regulations. Speaking at the event, the party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, defended the legitimacy of the convention, dismissing claims that the exercise was illegal or flawed. He maintained that all necessary procedures were followed, including the dissolution of the former National Working Committee (NWC) and the inauguration of a caretaker leadership. Aregbesola stated that resolutions from an earlier National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which approved the leadership changes, had been formally communicated to INEC and acknowledged by the commission. He added that the submission was made by party leaders, including Ralph Okey Nwosu, and that the new leadership had been reflected on INEC’s official portal. Insisting that due process was strictly observed, Aregbesola declared that members of the dissolved NWC no longer had any legal claim to office, describing any such claims as invalid. However, he criticised INEC for failing to attend and monitor the convention, describing the absence as a breach of its statutory responsibility. He further alleged that the commission’s actions suggested a partisan bias, potentially aimed at weakening opposition parties and giving undue advantage to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In his remarks, David Mark said the ADC would not succumb to pressure or intimidation, warning of a shrinking democratic space in Nigeria. He described the internal challenges facing the party as part of a broader struggle to safeguard democracy, calling on political actors across party lines to work together in defence of democratic values. Also speaking at the convention, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, raised concerns over Nigeria’s current trajectory, warning that the country was “heading to disaster” under the present administration. Obi cited rising insecurity and worsening economic indicators, including increasing national debt, as evidence of decline. He noted that Nigeria’s position in global terrorism rankings had worsened in recent years, describing the trend as alarming and requiring urgent intervention. He urged leaders to make necessary sacrifices to address the country’s challenges, warning that failure to act could have serious consequences for future generations. The ADC convention and the controversy surrounding it have underscored growing tensions within Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly regarding the role of electoral institutions and the strength of opposition parties ahead of future elections.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkKg71z9ISA Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said he would participate “in spirit” at the upcoming national convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), scheduled to hold in Abuja. El-Rufai made the remark on Monday while addressing journalists after appearing before the Kaduna State High Court, where he is currently facing charges filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Responding to a question on whether he would attend the ADC convention slated for Tuesday, the former governor said briefly, “I will be there in spirit.” The ADC convention is expected to bring together key opposition figures as the party continues to serve as a platform for a broader political coalition. Amid earlier uncertainty over the venue, the party’s Press Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed that the event would take place at the Rainbow Event Centre in Area 11, Abuja. El-Rufai’s comment comes as he remains engaged in ongoing legal proceedings, which may limit his physical participation in political activities. However, his response suggests continued interest in the party’s affairs and the evolving opposition landscape. The ADC convention is expected to play a significant role in shaping political alignments ahead of future electoral contests in Nigeria

The viral testimony has reignited broader conversations about long-standing concerns previously raised by travelers regarding conduct at Nigerian airports, including issues of unofficial payments, inconsistent customer service, and delays in passenger processing. These concerns have often influenced perceptions of Nigeria’s aviation sector among international visitors. Giftimoni: |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWSCnpneT7s A Ugandan traveler has sparked renewed discussion about service delivery and passenger experience at Nigeria’s major aviation gateway after sharing a noticeably improved experience at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. According to her account, her recent arrival process was smooth, orderly, and professional—marking a stark contrast to her visit two years earlier, when she allegedly encountered airport staff who demanded foreign currency payments. Her latest experience, however, was described as free of any form of extortion or undue interference, suggesting a possible shift in operational standards. In response to such criticisms over the years, authorities have introduced various reforms aimed at improving transparency, strengthening oversight, and enhancing passenger experience across international terminals. While official improvements have been reported in some areas, public opinion remains divided on whether these changes are systemic or isolated. The recent account is now being used by many observers as a case study to assess whether reforms are translating into real-world improvements for everyday travelers. Aviation stakeholders argue that consistent service delivery at entry points like Lagos is critical to rebuilding trust, improving tourism prospects, and strengthening investor confidence. As the conversation continues online, the key question remains whether this improved experience reflects a sustained transformation at Nigeria’s airports—or a positive exception in an otherwise uneven system. https://voicenews.com.ng/ugandan-lady-praises-positive-change-at-murtala-muhammed-airport/

https://youtube.com/shorts/yoeBIF2XPUU?feature=share Tensions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) escalated on Thursday as a factional National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, staged a protest in Abuja, calling on prominent political figures to stay away from the party’s affairs. Gombe, who led a group of supporters to demonstrate in the Federal Capital Territory, accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of attempting to interfere in the internal structure of the ADC. Chanting solidarity slogans and holding placards, the protesters urged the political heavyweights to “leave ADC alone,” insisting that the party’s leadership and direction should not be influenced by external interests. Speaking during the protest, Gombe maintained that the ADC remains an independent political platform and warned against what he described as “political opportunism” by individuals allegedly seeking to use the party for personal ambitions ahead of future elections. “ADC is not a dumping ground for politicians looking for convenience. We have structures, leadership, and a clear vision that must be respected,” he said. The protest also drew the participation of Leke Abejide, a serving member of the House of Representatives under the ADC, who expressed support for Gombe’s position. Abejide emphasized the need to protect the party’s identity and internal processes, noting that any form of external imposition could destabilize the party and undermine its credibility. The development comes amid growing speculation about possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several opposition figures reportedly exploring new alliances and platforms. While none of the named political leaders have officially responded to the protest, the incident highlights deepening divisions within the ADC and raises fresh questions about the party’s unity and future direction. Political analysts say the unfolding situation reflects broader tensions within Nigeria’s opposition landscape, as parties and key actors reposition themselves in preparation for the next electoral cycle. As the situation develops, stakeholders within the ADC are expected to clarify the party’s leadership structure and address concerns over external influence. https://voicenews.com.ng/adc-crisis-deepens-as-factional-chairman-leads-protest-in-abuja/

Hmmm...Yesufu maintained that any attempt by Obi to seek a second term would be resisted, emphasizing the importance of accountability in leadership. Giftimoni: |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZnGbG4VLjg Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has said she would strongly oppose former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, if he reneges on his promise to serve only one term in office. Yesufu made the statement during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, stressing that Obi must remain consistent with his long-standing commitment to a single-term presidency. “If Mr. Peter Obi gets into office and decides to do more than one term, I will oppose him with everything in me,” she said. She noted that Obi’s position on serving just one term predates the 2023 general election, adding that it has been a key part of his message to supporters. According to Yesufu, she personally sought clarification from the former Anambra State governor after the election to confirm his stance. “After the 2023 election, I sat down with him and asked if he was truly committed to just one term,” she said. She disclosed that Obi reaffirmed his promise during the conversation, insisting that he stands by his word. “He told me he meant it and that his integrity is not something he jokes with,” she added. Yesufu maintained that any attempt by Obi to seek a second term would be resisted, emphasizing the importance of accountability in leadership. “He gave his word. He cannot come back and say otherwise. We will fight him there,” she said. Despite her firm position, the activist expressed confidence that Obi would honour his pledge, describing him as a leader who keeps his word.
