After reading your post now am thinking of adapting to the German window style in my project. though i live in Germany but never thought of the bolded
diordaves: Don't be so quick in dismissing this client. The client certainly knows what they are doing.
It is possible the client is a German diaspora. In Germany, windows open INWARDS so you can clean them especially upper floors.
If the windows open outward, you can't clean them or struggle to clean them. In the UK just like Nigeria most windows open outward so we employ window cleaners to clean windows. For some who cannot afford window cleaners or rented apartments, what you get are dirty, dusty windows. The same in Nigeria. Dirty, dusty upper floors windows everywhere.
It is possible this client doesn't want to go down that route, hence adopted the German solution.
Burglary protectors are supposed to also protect the glass as well against football by kids playing outside so nothing unusual as installed. In Spain, South America etc, protectors are outside. No big deal.
I thought I should let you know that we would be using this for the concrete mix as the first step of our multi-level protection. Other plans remain as designed.
Thank you for the ideas though am sure my engineer is well capable of handling it but based on the ways things are done over here is totally different in Nigeria, my engineer and i are trying to explore the best options or alternative, i know it´s achievable in Nigeria am just trying to do a proper research before we start the concrete decking. Well i had a meeting with an old friend of mine who is a "structural engineer supervisor" he promised to take a closer look at the structural plan and revert, Sorry but Nigeria is just far behind so am trying to get the best i could to achieve my goal maybe i´ll get in contact with this company (https://actnigeria.com/portfolio/polyurethane-waterproofing-project-at-leadway-protea-hotel-maryland/) to see what they have to offer.
diordaves: It is important not to get it all confused. The video you attached I think is for a wooden deck (flat roof). If you are going for the proper Nigeria concrete decking, you really don't need all that layer. Again, I'm not sure of pouring bitumen (coal tar) without aggregate and tiling over it. The bitumen may fail periodically under Naija heat. I'm also not sure if you can get lead flashing in Nigeria. Ask the roofing guys. Lead flashing is used in roofing where the sheets meet a wall like hidden flat roof.
Think about it, do a proper planning and then go for it. It is achievable.
Thank you very much sir i was thinking of the combination of good quality admixture,Bituminous felt, XPS Polystyrene,Bituminous felt then tiles one example
You might be right, i´ve seen this option too before but talking about over 65sqm outdoor terrace don´t you think it need more than this admixtures?
diordaves: I don't think this is as difficult to achieve as you guys are making it. I have achieved cement waterproofing and sealing in Nigeria easily. Normally you get from eBay or Amazon the attached admixtures for very little cost and add to your mix ratio according to the instruction of the product. For example one part admixture and three-part water like the attached photo.
I did waterproofing and sealing of (concrete countertop) not too long ago and got I think 20 litres sealant from Gbadexy. I mixed it one-part to three-part water into the cement-sand-aggregate mix. It worked. It was a 4" thick concrete countertop. It was waterproof and sealed effectively. After 9 days of curing, I applied three layers of coating of the sealant on the surface of the concrete and the whole thing was effectively waterproof, sealed and stain-resistant. It worked for me.
As this is just extra waterproof and sealing in conjuncture with the major waterproof design, I think this has a huge potential to work for you as well. You may want to have further discussion with Gbadexy to see if this will work for your circumstances.
sconp: Admixture in the concrete + Bituminous felt + properly sloped slab with provision for drain + tiles properly installed with sealant should suffice.
You could also check the below link, they seem to have a variety of solutions.
We both are on the same page am looking for the best and professional solution, i saw some professional options online but am not sure if Nigeria engineers can handle it.
We are planning the casting of a slab that will serve as an outdoor rooftop terrace. this is not a roof slab but a fully exposed slab.
Pls what are the other options of treatment/chemical/admixtures that can be mixed with the concrete during casting to help the slab withstand all the harsh weather conditions it will be exposed to over a long period.
Note: Post-casting and during finishing, proper waterproofing will still be done and the surface tiled. Just thinking of a double/triple pronged mitigation plan.
OMG as a new user on this platform i can´t imagine loosing my hard earn money to someone like this guy (Brabus) am so lucky to make my research before giving my project to an ENGINEER here on NL,@MMotimo thank you so much for the heads-up and i completely agreed with you that people should take time to research before giving their money to any builder.
We learnt a lot on 2075 and 2076. . . . . . . . non classic fraud hmmmmm. A comedy skit was also thrown in with n3xt as naijapal
Y’all see why things should not be hidden under the carpet? Daily, unsuspecting Nigerians are coming to this section, seeking help, not asking to be defrauded.
You have n3xt / brabusng /brabus coming back here to re-establish his presence after the multitude of victims left in his wake from at least 2011 to 2016. Yet, some people say we should wait for more victims to confirm whether or not he’s a changed man. As we wait, some of us will continue to push awareness. I have no alliances and I’m not looking for new friends so please, lose the frenemy advice approach, it’s getting stale.
Open your eyes well, do thorough research because millions of naira have been lost to one man alone. N3xt / brabusng / brabus is the consummate laptop builder. All it takes is some searching in the search bar above after narrowing down to the properties section from all sections. This is not child’s play, he’s very prolific. May God bless his victims wherever they are today.
ok send your whatsapp number to my email (gigasetgs370plus@gmail.com) thanks
Teewhy2: Sir, I believe I have responded to most of my emails, can you state part of the email address to use in searching for your email. Posting nos here is mostly harvested by people with other motives and are been used for negative dealings. Sorry for the inconveniences
i´ve sent you an email but no reply from you, i can´t understand why you can´t drop your number here
Teewhy2: Picture 05: Polystyrene panels and poly plaster on site. Picture 06: Polystyrene panels look been demonstrated to people who can't wait but want to see how it will look on building . Picture 07: Demonstration of look continues. Picture 08: close look of panels been fixed on site and final look of how angles look like. .
Kudos to you sir is about time we start thinking out of the box am impressed with your write up thanks for shearing
n3xt: While at it, there's kalsiboard from Nigerite sold at 9,000 per pc. It's a game changer and it has been in the market for years. I think it was launched into the market in 2013.
______ Pic 1 - If innovative construction methods like this is what you're looking for, stop patronizing those who believe Nigeria is still a village. Do more research. The solutions are out there.
Good day sir, i just wanted to give a big thank to you for taking your time to respond to my post and to inform you that some of your advice was taken now my project is been handle by (Aventures and Granite Supply by Chekitaut) though the project is just two weeks old and am very impressed with your recommendation and i feel i should say thanks for this reply really well appreciated.
One4me: Before l mention names, trusted names, it will be good to know where your project is located. If in the East/South-South, l will say Spyder If it is anywhere above Lokoja (Up North), l will say Abduilwastecx, if it is after the Niger Bridge down South West, l will say Aventures, Segzy and one other name that l cant remember right now. Archy? Dareynx Paint? Gbadexy is your sure bet Material Costing and Project management? Hail QSfemi Electrical? Topsy Plumbing and the likes? Rotech CCTV? Twinskenny Tiles and bathroom stuffs? Endiasami (but not heard from him for a while) Roofing? Imram Roofing Granite and Sand Supply? Chekitaut but you will need to make sure his vehicle does not break down
There could be other people that have skipped my mind right now but I would gladly work with the above Builders.
#NotABibeli, if l missed your name, it does not mean you are not good, it simply means you have need to impress more on this thred and with the work you do. My apologies.
Keep us informed so we canalso help you answer questions and keep your Contractor on his toes.
Actually i wanted to get an elderly advice in private from you sir based on the project am about to start, i wish you could share your whatsapp number with me or email address
Thank you very much sir for your honest suggestion well appreciated please sir if you don`t mind shearing your email sir, thanks one more time sir
One4me: I am not too impressed with the way/kind of method our Builders here use in doing Pile foundations (Boring Method), there is a very high possibility of a breakage/fracture along the line, especially if the depth of your Pile is high (say like 15m and above). The biggest problem is when the Concrete poured inside the Jute-bag covered Pile hole, does not form uniformly I have seen ones that cracked in-situ and the house ended being bent. I would rather prefer the Displacement types (Drop Hammer)
I would rather companies who specialise in that area, do it.
Though, maybe they have Upped their game in that area, l cant say for sure.
Segzy, l think, BTW, is it a Storey building or a bungalow you intend to build, and is your land very swampy? What is the depth of Pile recommended? Pile is not cheap o.
Thank you so much sir for the reply the project is located in Mowe and according to soil test result a pile foundation is recommended which i wasn`t expecting so that`s why am looking for a very good engineer that can handle pile foundation
