I think ear piercing was introduced as a means to physically differentiate females from the male gender. Aside being a norm, it makes the female child look cute and girly. It's okay if you don't want it for your baby. It's a matter of choice. As regards not wanting your child to feel any pain, if she were a boy, would you have circumcised him or not?
