Remember when GEJ was criticized for having a good time after Abuja bombings? Well, the social media is trending with pictures of Buhari laughing with lawmakers on night of 7th October 2015, hours after 5 bomb blasts went of in North East off the country and Giedam Town was under serious attck.

Sad to say, this was Abuja last night.

The agitation for restoration of Sovereign State of Biafra is getting louder and it seems like the group is not relenting in its efforts for Biafra Self-determination.

There have been widespread crack down on Pro-Biafran groups chief among them the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) in South South and South East parts of Nigeria. The group also took to various media outlets to announce to the world their plights, after unarmed IPOB members were brutally shot at in Onitsha and subsequent arrests of the groups members in Asaba and Igweocha, the name which the group call the city of Port Harcourt both of which are in South South region of Nigeria.

The security agencies have issued recent warnings and have also outlawed all Pro-Biafra groups in the country. Amnesty International released a statement to Ibtimes UK, that "there are evidences of Police crackdown and killing of Pro-Biafra groups members in Nigeria" which is a violation of UN Charter on Rights to Self Determination of Indigenous People.

However the agitation seems to have take a new twist with an online petition to a credible Petitioning oullet, MoveOn.org. This petition, which was started by IPOB have gathered momentum as thousands have already signed up.

As of 7th of October 2015, the petition more than doubled from the number it was on 6th of October 2015. The request for the petition to be delivered to "Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Society for Threatened People, Ban Ki Moon, UN Secretary General, Dr. Ben Carson, Presidential Candidate, Donald Trump, Presidential Candidate, Senator Patrick Leahy, United States Congress, Benjamin Nethanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, Senator Dan Coats, United States Congress, Kenneth I. Juster, Chair, BOT, Freedom House, The Indiana State House, The Indiana State Senate, Governor Mike Pence, The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack Obama" may be granted as MoveOn group will likely review the petition when it hits 10,000 signatures.

The text accompanying the petition, which was drafted by the group reads

The Indigenious People of Biafra (IPOB) are hounded, harrassed, massacred, and incarcerated in violation of their civil and United Nations rights of Indigenous People to agitate for self determination. Buhari is breaking international law by harassing and killing the beleaguered and marginalized peoples of Biafra in British-Nigeria.

We, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu, are compelled to call for a total boycott of British-Nigeria and her murderous president Muhammadu Buhari because British-Nigeria is a rogue terrorist state that tramples on every conceivable human rights, particularly, the rights of the beleaguered people of Biafra and IPOB—the organization of Biafrans agitating for freedom from the wicked British-Nigeria contraption and edifice of genocide.

Many Nigerians from opposing side of the divide sometimes call the group's activities a joke, but it is unknown if IPOB will relent on the agitation for a separate republic, especially with the group's wide media reach using Radio Biafra, Biafra Television, websites and social networks accounts. The latest article submitted by Terry Paulson to Townhall.com, shows that people far and wide are receiving the message, and with that the future will tell what happens next.

Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Sunday took to the streets of Asaba, the Delta State capital, demanding for the actualisation of Biafra. Distributing fliers to motorists and passers-by, the protesters who numbered in thousands, who were chanting Biafran freedom songs, said they were out to sensitise Asaba populace on the need to join forces to realise the objective.

The fliers contains the website addresses of the leaders of the group, their hot lines and invites sympathisers to fellowship with the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Asaba Zone at Oneh Primary School, in the capital city. The protesters, numbering over 200, caused traffic jam along the popular Nnebisi Road and disrupted commercial activities as bystanders were deeply carried away by the uniformity with which they occupied the double lanes of the road and their pavements.

The police were seen controlling the traffic and moving with the protesters, to forestall any unforeseen disorder and also to make the protest a peaceful.

Tuning into Radio Biafra days after, the 'Director' Nnamdi Kanu was heard confirming that his group carried out the sensitization, in order to educate the indigenous people about the coming for restoration of Biafra, he also said similar protests have happened in parts of Akwa Ibom and Ogoja in Cross River state in recent works.

In recent months, Radio Biafra which we can authoritatively confirm that is owned by Indigeous People of Biafra (IPOB) at home and in diaspora, have been a source of controversy, with Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation issuing press statement, that the 'illegal' station has been jammed, the engineer arrested and the signal taken off air.
However, days after, the anchor and Director of the radio station called NBC "liars" and said none of their engineers was arrested.

It is also worthy to note that while people believed that the station has been taken off air, they have instead created a relay station in Yenegoa, Bayelsa state. In addition Biafra Television has been launched while the 'Director' could be heard telling his listeners to download their brand new mobile apps. Our inquiry indicated that Radio Biafra was never off air for a day, and it is a failure in part of NBC to issue a statement without succeeding in jamming the same station.

The restoration of Sovereign State of Biafra has taken an upward trend since last year, and from what is obtained in the former Eastern part of Nigeria and Delta state, more people are joining the struggle, and the issue of Biafra is like a daily discussion for everybody from all walks of life.

The agitation has been peaceful so far, and it remains to be known how the Federal Government will handle such a delicate issue, because for one, the agitation does not look like it will die down now or anytime soon, you only need to listen to Radio Biafra and you will realize that the agitation and desire to have Biafra restored has been embraced by million of people both at home and in the diaspora.
