K-pop group BTS’s youngest member, Jungkook has tested positive for covid-19.

The singer tested positive for the deadly virus on Sunday, March 28, after his arrival in the United States on March 28 (PT). His diagnosis comes just days ahead of the band’s Grammy appearance as well as their Las Vegas show.

The band’s agency Big Hit Music released a statement and revealed that he had tested negative for Covid-19 in South Korea but took tests in the US after he felt discomfort in his throat.

The statement read, “Hello. This is Big Hit Music. We would like to provide you with some information on BTS member Jungkook being diagnosed with Covid-19. Jungkook was tested negative on a PCR test in Korea, and he departed for the United States on Sunday, March 27 (KST) in preparation for the Grammy Awards performance. After arriving in Las Vegas, he felt a slight discomfort in his throat and promptly took a rapid PCR test (Covid-19 molecular PCR test) and a standard PCR test (Covid-19 quantitative PCR test) on the afternoon of Sunday, March 27 (PT).”

''Jung Kook has been currently under self-quarantine and treatment, following the guidelines of health authorities in the United States. He is not exhibiting any symptoms other than a mild sore throat, and we will attentively monitor his health during the quarantine.''

Jung Kook's participation at different events in the United States will be determined by the local regulations on COVID-19, and the agency is actively in discussion with the awards organizer.

''We would like to extend our sincerest apologies to our fans for causing you concern despite our effort to take all necessary measures for our artists' health prior to and throughout the schedule in the United States. We ask for your generous understanding and support from all our fans.

We will continue to provide support for the rapid recovery of Jung Kook, placing our highest priority on the health and safety of our artists. We will also continue to fully cooperate with the requests and guidelines of healthcare authorities,'' the agency noted.

Jungkook is the latest BTS member who has tested positive for the virus. Before him, J-Hope contracted the virus on March 24.

BTS members Jimin, RM and Jin left for Las Vegas on March 28 to attend the Grammy Awards. Meanwhile, Jungkook took an earlier flight to the US due to a separate event.

A day after Will Smith grabbed headlines the world over as he went on stage and smacked comedian Chris Rock during the Oscar awards, the actor has apologised to the comedian.

Smith issued a statement after the Academy stated that it might take action against Smith for an incident that overshadowed the industry's top awards. There were unconfirmed reports that it might even revoke the best actor award he won on Sunday night.

Smith, in a post on Instagram, said his behaviour at the globally televised ceremony was "unacceptable and inexcusable."
"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris," Smith wrote. "I was out of line and I was wrong."

Smith went on stage and slapped Rock after the comedian made a joke about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith that seemed to refer to her baldness. Pinkett Smith suffers from a condition called Alopecia which leads to hair loss and has been open about her struggle since 2018.

Moments later Smith won his maiden Oscar for the 'King Richard'.

Echeng Echeng, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State has ordered police operatives in the state to strictly enforce the state government’s ban on touting and illegal revenue collection.

The police boss in a statement on Sunday, March 20, 2022, charged officers to ensure full compliance with the order, especially at motor parks.


The CP also warned those engaged in other unlawful acts to desist forthwith, saying the police and other security agencies had been deployed around the state to arrest anyone caught flouting the order.


Recall that the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo had during his inauguration last week announced the ban on touting and illegal revenue collection.


Soludo had promised to rid Onitsha and all roads and markets in the state of touts and make Anambra a pleasurable experience.


However, despite the police warnings, a group of touts on Sunday, March 20, 2022, reportedly beat a tricycle operator to a coma for refusing to pay the park levy as directed by the governor.


According to Punch, the touts, numbering three, had approached the tricycle operator and asked him to pay them N200.
It was reported that the touts attacked the tricycle operator when reminded them that Governor Soludo had announced the ban on their activities.

A video of a Nigerian man ridiculing former school headmaster after accosting him on a road has blended responses on the net.

The short video shared by @gossipmilltv on Instagram begins with the Nigerian man driving a car behind a motorcyclist who had a male passenger.

In a recent viral video, a journalist in Russia interrupted a live television broadcast of a new channel with a poster featuring anti-war slogans, in the midst of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The video of the journalist interrupting the TV broadcast of her own channel spread like wildfire on social media.

Marina Ovsyannikova, who is a journalist with a Russian news channel named Channel One, interrupted the night broadcast as she held up a poster behind the news anchor which contained several anti-war slogans, condemning Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

Ovsyannikova started chanting war slogans holding up the placard which read, “NO WAR. Stop the war. Don’t believe the propaganda. They are lying to you here.” The news anchor further began to read the news louder in an attempt to drown out Ovsyannikova’s voice as she shouted anti-war slogans.

A CCTV Camera Technician, Prince Sevor, who published ŋʋde videos of a businesswoman on a website, has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.

Sevor has been ordered to pay GH₵10,000 as compensation to the woman for the trauma caused her.

22-Year-Old Girl Murdered By Suspected Ritualists, Corpse Dumped Behind Her Mother’s Shop

Shakirat, a 22-year-old girl has reportedly been murdered by some unknown suspected ritualists at at Oke-Oore, Iwo in Osun State, Nigeria.

According to a resident at Oke-Oore, the body of Shakirat was found behind her own mother’s shop after the suspected ritualists dumped her, probably after using her for what they wanted.

The resident also revealed that the young lady had gone missing from Wednesday, March 9th after she left home in the afternoon and never returned in the evening leaving her family worried.

“She was last seen Wednesday afternoon and her family members became worried when she did not return in the evening,” according to the source who pleaded to remain anonymous.

The source also revealed that Shakirat’s lifeless body was found behind her mother’s shop on Thursday March 10th. The police after arriving to the scene conveyed the body to a morgue for autopsy.

“Her corpse was found behind her mother’s shop very early on Thursday. Some police operatives later came and took the body away. We later learnt that they took her to morgue in Iwo General Hospital”, the source added.

Spokesperson of the Osun police State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola said that the police opted for autopsy to be done on the body but the family insisted that the body be released to them for burial, hence they released the body.

However, Yemisi Opalola stated that further investigations have been carried out to bring the suspected ritualists to book.

A Zaire man, identified simply as Luwizo, has tied the knot with triplets of the same mother.

The 32-year-old groom said he met one of the triplets called Natalie via Facebook, chatted a while, fell in love with her, and decided to meet her in person, Afrimax English reported.

He said that after Natalie introduced him to her sisters, Nadege and Natasha, the duo soon fell in love with him too.

Wizo, as he is fondly called, said he was shocked to meet three identical women after visiting Natalie’s house to formalise their marriage.

“I was very much surprised that I almost fainted. It seems like I was dreaming!” Wizo exclaimed.

Since the triplets were so close and inseparable, they chose to marry the same man.

Asked about how they handled the situation, one of the triplets said, “When we told him he had to marry all of us, he was shocked. But because he had already fallen in love with all of us, nothing could stop our plans since we were also in love with him.

“Even though people considered it impossible for three women to share one husband, to us, sharing everything has been our life since childhood.”

Luwizo said although his parents never approved of his unpopular decision and decided to not grace his wedding, he had no regret whatsoever going forward with it.

“You have to lose something in order to gain another. In addition, one has their preferences and their own way of doing things. So I’m happy to marry the triplets no matter what others think. My parents despised my decision and that’s why they didn’t attend my wedding. But all I can say is love has no limits,” the groom surmised.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday called on its people to “fight for country” as Russia launched wide-ranging attacks targeting multiple cities.

In a televised address to the nation, Zelenskyy termed the attack an “invasion” and asked people to support the military in repelling attacks against the Russian forces.

“Today, Russia started an invasion of Ukraine. Putin started a war against Ukraine, against the whole democratic world. He wants to destroy my country. He wants to destroy our country, everything we have been building, what we live for. I address all Ukrainians and primarily Ukrainian servicemen who have already taken the first enemy’s strike and are repelling it with dignity,” he said.

Zelensky, 44, appealed to the people with military experience to make themselves available.

“We are aware of Ukrainian armed forces' strength. You are courageous, you are unbroken, you are Ukrainians. I address every Ukrainian who is now staying on Ukrainian land. Let’s not panic. Let’s do everything that is needed to support armed forces of Ukraine. I address all Ukrainians who are currently abroad. We need your support too. You are a powerful force. You are a united force and you proved it many times before. We need you now very much,” the president said.

The president said that he has talked to the world leaders and is international rallying support for Ukraine.

“I talked to (Joe) Biden, (Boris) Johnson, Charles Michel, (Andrzej) Duda, (Gitanas) Nauseda. We start to create anti-Putin coalition. I have already called on world leaders to impose all possible sanctions against Putin, start full-scale defence support, close air space over Ukraine for aggressor. Together, we must save Ukraine, save democratic world. We will do it. Glory to Ukraine,” he said.

Before launching a 'military operation' on Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an early morning call to his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.

Lukashenko's office, in a statement, said, "Around 5 am (0200 GMT) today there was a telephone conversation between the presidents of Belarus and Russia. During the call, Vladimir Putin informed his Belarusian colleague about the situation on the border with Ukraine and in Donbas."

The Kremlin, so far, has released no statement on the call.

A little later after the call, Putin appeared on state television and declared he had authorised "special operation" to "protect Donbas" while urging Ukrainian forces to "lay down arms".

"Entire course of events, information analysis shows clashes between Russia, nationalistic forces in Ukraine are inevitable and a matter of time," Putin said.

"Russia does not have a single opportunity other than to defend itself, it will use it."

Putin further added that Russia will seek to demilitarise Ukraine and will "immediately respond to any external threat".

After the fall of the Soviet Union, it voted for independence from Moscow. Putin deems Ukraine as an artificial creation carved from Russia by enemies. He has also described Ukraine as a puppet of the West.

Zelensky's request to be a part of NATO angered Russia and it started placing troops near the Ukraine border.

On November 10, 2021, the US reported unusual Russian troop movements near the Ukrainian border. On November 28, Ukraine said Russia is massing nearly 92,000 troops for an offensive at the end of January or early February.

However, Moscow denied it and accused Kyiv of a military build-up of its own.

In December, President Biden warned of severe sanctions if Russia invaded Ukraine. Putin has constantly demanded guarantees from the West and Ukraine that it will not join NATO.

Woman to get N31.8m compensation after her kidney was removed mysteriously in Saudi Arabia

Judith Nakintu went to Saudi Arabia in good health, only to return to find out that her kidney had been removed without her permission.

She is likely to receive millions from her old employer after a long legal dispute.

Nankintu’s former employer, Saad Dhafer, said she was injured in an accident, and Nile Treasure Gate, the labor export company that flew her to Jeddah, said they believed him.

The company’s lawyer stated that after learning of the accident, they began legal steps to assist her in receiving compensation.

Judith was said to have been involved in an accident that killed two of her employer’s children, according to documents disclosed, including a traffic report.

However, it was discovered after she arrived in Uganda that one of her kidneys had been removed under mysterious circumstances.

Nile Treasure Gate stated that they had no idea how Judith lost her kidney and that they had written to the King Fahad Hospital where she was treated following the accident but had not gotten a response.

“We hope that our clients need to have their day in court and we believe justice would be served,” the company’s lawyer said.

“A lawsuit was filed on her behalf and the court ruled in her favour. The 30th January ruling ordered Dhafer to compensate her KSh 8.7 million (31,825,778.15) after legal fees,” the lawyer explained.

The lawyer representing Judith’s family, on the other hand, disputed Nile Treasure Gate’s explanation, claiming that the company was out to deceive them.

“We leave the case to authorities and if need be, let them travel to Saudi Arabia to understand what happened,” he told NTV Uganda.
