Man allegedly rapes colleague to death, keeps corpse for three days in Ogun

A 27-year-old man, Adenuga Eniola has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping a co-worker, identified as Faith Jude to death at Lafenwa, in the Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama paraded the suspect alongside other 18 suspects for various crimes such as rape, robbery and cultism, among others at the Police State headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta .

Makama was represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Edward Ajogun, said the suspect, a mobile money agent, was arrested for his involvement in the murder after he went to report the incident at Lafenwa Police Station.

He said the suspect reportedly committed the crime on September 16 and reported last Thursday at the Police Station.

The Commissioner of Police said the suspect told his men at the station that he discovered the lifeless body of his co-worker, covered with canopy at the front of their shop.

According to Makama, the suspect took advantage of the downpour on a fateful day to perpetuate his heinous act by allegedly gagging the mouth of the deceased with a piece of cloth to stop her from screaming while he was raping her.

The Police boss further explained that Eniola kept the body of the deceased in his shop for three days after the incident but was forced to report following the odour oozing from the place he kept the body.

He added that the suspect however reportedly confessed to the crime after he was grilled over the death of his colleague.

He said, “On close examination, it was discovered that there were marks of violence on the body of the deceased which raised the suspicion that she was murdered.

“Based on the discovery, the complainant, Adenuga Eniola was professionally interrogated and it was discovered that he was the person that actually killed the victim.

“He confessed to the crime and stated that the deceased, a co-worker came to the shop to collect money for their boss.

“He took advantage of the downpour then and grabbed the deceased, gagged her mouth with a piece of cloth while he raped her.

“Having had his way with the girl, he discovered that she had given up the ghost due to suffocation. He is under arrest with the incident, while the case is undergoing investigation at the Homicide Section of the command’s Criminal Investigation Department.”

However, the suspect who claimed to have regretted his action begged the government to tamper justice with mercy.

He said, “I regret my action because I did not know what came over me. I am not a womaniser, I don’t know why I involved myself in this.”

A 25-year-old man, David Seimiyengha, has been sentenced to death by an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure for kidnapping and murder.

The convict and two other accomplices, Fikesei Inuesokan and Bekewei Francis, were arrested by the men of the Ondo State Police Command in 2017 for killing one Olumide Odimayo at Igbotu in the Ese Odo Local Government Area of the state.

Until his murder, Odimayo was a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the local government.

The defendants were said to have kidnapped and murdered the deceased, which informed their arrest by the police.

They were arraigned before the court on four counts of conspiracy to commit felony, kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms and murder.

After a series of arguments from both the prosecuting and defence counsel, the court admitted that it had been proved beyond reasonable doubt that Seimiyengha committed the offences.

The judge, Justice Ademola Bola, while delivering his judgement, sentenced him to death by hanging.

The court, however, held that there was no enough evidence to show that the second and third defendants, Inuesokan and Francis, committed the offences.

It therefore discharged and acquitted them.

Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has expelled eight of its students for their involvement in examination malpractices, shaming them by publishing their names.

Daramola Olayinka, the Principal Assistant Registrar, said this in a statement on Friday, naming and shaming the students affected.

“The authorities of the Kwara State Polytechnic having considered the report of the academic board in respect of your involvement in examination malpractices has obtained approval for your immediate expulsion from the Polytechnic.

“Your expulsion is in line with the provision of the Students’ Information and Regulations Handbook 2014. You, therefore, cease to be students of the Polytechnic and you should hand over all Polytechnic properties in your possessions to your Heads of Departments or the appropriate Polytechnic Authority.”

Zinhle Maditla, the South African lady prosecuted for killing her four children aged between 11 months and eight years old, was handed four life sentence by an Mpumalanga high court on Friday September 20.


Ruling on the case, Judge Sheila Mphahlele said she couldn't find any reason to deviate from the prescribed minimum sentence. eNCA reported that she further stated that a life imprisonment for all four children is the right sentence.

“Their mother was meant to nurture and protect them. . . She betrayed her own children" she said.

LIB reported earlier that Maditla had gone to meet the father of two of her children who had promised to buy them food and Christmas clothes when she allegedly found him with another woman. She reportedly got into an argument with him thereafter.

The lady who killed her children identified as Ethan, Shaniqua, Blessing and Minenhle on December 26, 2018 and confessed to a friend four days later, apologised to her family and the fathers of her late children earlier this week.

A fraudster, Tajudeen Akintunde and his gang members, Omojola Adeyanju and Tunde Ganiyu, have been arrested after hypnotizing a boy, Safari Taiwo, who had been sent to deposit money in a bank by his elder sister at Yemetu, Ibadan.

Tunde, who pretended to be a pastor, approached Taiwo and prophesized that he had a problem. .

After hypnotising the boy, the suspects collected the N15,000 and ATM card with him and withdrew about N93,000, another N50,000 through the POS and another 43,000.

They told the boy he had spiritual problems and he must drop everything on him in order for them to carry out the cleansing.

A member of the syndicate was then beckoned upon to assist the victim to purchase salt at Iwo road to complete his ritual rites. .
.
Taiwo, however, became conscious while on the way and he alerted the people, thereby leading to their arrest.
