The Ekiti State police have arrested a 39-year-old man, Tunmise Abraham, for allegedly killing her landlady, Mrs. Bukola Olanrewaju, after raping her in Ado-Ekiti.

Abraham allegedly murdered the 39-year-old tailor and mother of three on Thursday last week. However, after his arrest, Abraham admitted killing Bukola but denied raping her.

The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Asuquo Amba, said the suspect was arrested at a church in Akure, Ondo State. He said: “The suspect, after committing the offence, ran to Akure. He took refuge in a church and that was where he was arrested.

Confessing that he actually committed the offence, Abraham said he did it out of provocation. The suspect said the deceased had provoked her over disagreement on house rent with her husband, Mr. Raphael Olanrewaju.

Abraham, however, denied the accusation that he raped her to death. According to him, he only hit the victim in the head with a big stick before tying her hands to make her weak during a fisticuff.

He said: “I called her that day that I wanted to leave the house after paying N23,000 in June and this will last till May next. I said that the husband needed to refund part of my money for me to get another apartment, but the woman said that would never happen.

We started the argument and she started calling me names. She abused me by calling me a ‘stammer,’ charlatan and other unprintable names, which angered me. She later held my clothes and I slapped her and pushed her away from me.

The woman now came with a stick and I overpowered her and collected the stick, which I used to hit her on the head and she fell. Upon realising she had died, I became worried and I had to run to a church in Akure for refuge.”

The Delta State Police Command led by CP Adeyinka Adeleke has foiled a syndicate of motorcycle snatchers along Abavo road in Ikah North East Local Government Area of the State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya disclosed this in a statement signed and made available to DAILY POST.

He said, “On the 12th of August, based on intelligence report by men on stop and search attached to Abavo Police Station, two suspects namely, Kingsley Onaro ‘m’ aged 25yrs and Aghulor Udoka ‘m’ aged 25yrs were apprehended along Abavo road with two stolen motorcycles one with Reg No: FS 135 DT and the other unregistered.

“During interrogation of the suspects, Kingsley Onaro narrated how he goes to people’s houses in the wee hours of the day to remove motorcycles from where parked while the other owners are asleep.

“He also mentioned one Odogwu Chukwudi ‘m’ aged 41yrs who is the middle man and the receiver/ seller of the stolen motorcycles, one Blessing Chukwudi ‘f’ aged 40yrs. She sells the motorcycles after registering them with fake documents. One Rita Ifeanyi ‘f’ an agent with the State licensing Office provides them with fake documents.

“Currently, fifteen(15) motorcycles are at the Owa-Oyibu Division and so far, six persons have been able to identify their motorcycles even though the plate numbers have been changed.”

Onovwakpoyeya said CP Adeyinka Adeleke has requested anyone whose motorcycles got stolen in Owa-Oyibu and its environs to go to the Owa-Oyibu Police Station to check.

She also stated that the command remains committed to the protection of lives and property in the State.

The serving corps members met their death while going for a wedding in Funtua

A break failure, occasioned by heavy downpour, led to the accident in which other passengers sustained various injuries

It was a massive strike of tragedy on Sunday, August 18, as two serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) died in a ghastly motor accident that occurred in Katsina state.

The accident, which happened in Gobirawa village along Katsina–Kankara road, claimed the lives of the corps members who were travelling with their colleagues for a wedding at a Catholic church in Funtua, Channels TV reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the vehicle conveying the corps member bore the inscription ‘Corpers For Christ, and it somersaulted following a break failure occasioned heavy downpour.

The deceased were said to hail from Akwa Ibom and Anambra states, and their death has sent cold water into the spine of the scheme and nation as a whole.

Where is 25-year-old Cynthia Amarachi, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Osun State?

What happened to her on March 15, after she left the state en route to Lagos for a weekend with her parents?

These are the questions her mother, siblings and friends have been asking following her mysterious disappearance.

Their agonies further worsened after visiting hospitals and mortuaries to find out whether she was involved in an accident.

Her mother, a primary school teacher, Mrs. Constance Nwawike, said they have reported the incident to the police in Lagos and Osun states without success.

She said at a point, the police tracked one of her phones to Ogun-Oyo forest where some suspects were arrested, but later freed, adding that her other phone was traced to Kano State.

The woman, who said Amarachi, the only graduate they suffered to train, was a level headed and reserved woman, noted that they only knew about her disappearance about a week after March 15 when she was contacted by officials of the NYSC in Osun State that Amarachi was yet to return from Lagos.

“Before then, we had been worried as we could not reach her on the phone.

”On that fateful day, March 15, I called my daughter’s number, but it was switched off. I thought it was network problem. I did not call again. On Monday, I called the number again, but no response. I continued for three days without a response. I then informed my husband. All of us became worried.

“Her younger sister even complained that she (Amarachi) didn’t call to wish her happy birthday. It has not been an easy period for us. We have visited churches and we were told she is still alive. I am just begging anyone who is holding her to please release her for us,” she said amid tears.

Mrs. Nwawike said Amarachi’s friend, who notified the NYSC about her trip, said she boarded a commercial vehicle at Iwo Road en route to Lagos and they exchanged pleasantries, promising to inform them once she arrived her parents’ Ikorodu home.

“But when they got no response and called several times without a response, her colleagues reportedly went on the social media to trace her parents, which eventually paid off,” she said.

The woman said she received a call from her daughter’s service centre a week later that they were looking for her.

“The state coordinator also called and reported that they did not see her after she travelled home. Shocked at the unfolding drama, I told them that she did not return to our home in Ikorodu. I made further enquiry, the coordinator said her friend, also a corps member, told them that she travelled to meet us in Lagos and since then, she had been calling her number without reply.

“I asked the man (NYSC state coordinator) to give me the corps member’s number. I talked to her and she said she had been trying to reach me. I reported the case at Ikorodu Police Station. They said I should go to Ibadan because the lady made it known that she took Ibadan-Iwo Road and when she got a vehicle going to Ikorodu, they had a conversation. She told her that she had boarded a bus going to Ikorodu and her friend said she wished her safe trip. Since then, she had not seen or heard from her. I went to the school where she was serving in Osun State and the head teacher told me the same thing.

“Since then, I have tried my best. We had gone as far as reporting to the anti-kidnapping squad and they told us that they had tracked her number to Kano. They later told me that they made some arrests and I asked how far, but the policemen keep ‘posting me’. Last week I called them, but they said that they would call me back, but they didn’t call me back.

“I also reported the case at the Osun State Police Command. They invited me for an interview, but when I got there, they said I should connect them with the anti-kidnapping unit investigating the matter in Lagos, which I did, only for the police in Osun to say that they have been trying the number of their colleagues at the anti- kidnapping unit without success,” Mrs. Nwawike said.

We reported earlier that the Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Segun Runsewe expressed disappointment that the Cartel Music boss released the music video which sparked controversy while being shot. He further said they are going to inform security agencies to place him on their watch list, because his action is a threat to national security and a bad influence on Nigerian youths.

However Matilda Duncan fired back at the Federal Government over claims of Tekno's action being a threat to national security. The media personality who pointed out that the ladies wore bikinis and were not nude as insinuated, further questioned the priorities of the country.

She wrote;

National Threat #scapegoat this harmless Face? @teknoofficial ... All because? A video ?? Please what is Nudity?? Where the ladies not in bikinis?? (Not that I say what he did was right o) b4 you all come at me!!! For the first time ever, Diane emerged the holder of the highly coveted Veto Power Game of Chance. It took three tries by the Pepper Dem Gang before Diane emerged as the lucky Housemate to wield the Veto Power. The Winner of this week's Veto Power, as usual, gets the power to Save and Replace a Nominated Housemate. The Winner also gets rewarded with 100 Bet9ja Coins.

Laying Down The Rules

The option of participating in the Veto Games of Chance no longer exists. Henceforth, unless barred by Big Brother, the Veto Power Game of Chance is compulsory for all the Pepper Dem Gang. No longer will they have the option of declining.

The Barred

Frodd, Sir Dee, Joe, Tacha, Omashola, Mike, Enkay, Elozonam and Jackye had to pay for their sins and the consequence was being barred from the Veto Power Game of Chance. For flouting Biggie's instruction not to enter the two main bedrooms, all of them were punished. They spent the entire duration of the Game watching and cheering their fellow Housemates. Perhaps, they will all be better behaved moving forward.

Game Time

The journey to the Veto Game of Chance relied entirely on luck. No special strategy was needed. All the Housemates had to do was take turns in drawing a numbered card from a magic hat and pick one out of the 36 gift bags with the corresponding number to the card they picked. Simple as it was, it took a few tries before a winner was eventually revealed. The first round ended with the Housemates picking bags with pegs. Pegs, Biggie recommended could come in handy for the talkative Housemates.

Third Time's The Charm

It took three tries before Diane finally picked the bag containing the Veto Badge. With this victory, Diane is safe for another week in the House. Should she get Nominated for Eviction, she can easily Save herself and Replace with someone else.

With the Veto Power Game of Chance sorted, we can't wait to see who Diane will save or if she will have to save herself.
